The birth of conjoined twins by a housewife, Mrs. Ene Musa Andrew, at the St. Daniels hospital, Otukpo, came as a great mystery to the people of Jerusalem street in Otukpo Local Government Area in Benue state. There has never been any incident of this mysterious birth in any part of the various communities of the local government. Otukpo is the ancestral home of the Idoma nation, a minority tribe in the agrarian state. LEADERSHIP gathered that the incident occurred penultimate Monday when the mother of the twins delivered through cesarean operation. The honed twins are still in the hospital without anyone to come for assistance. It was gathered that the joined twins have four hands and three legs, two heads, two chests and noses, and that they posses the same pelvic girdle. The proprietor of St. Daniels Hospital, Dr. M. O Daniel, said that the twins are joined together at the abdominal region with a shared female organ, with one having a healthy traces of surviving than the other. He stated that the twins were eating well but it may result to complications if an urgent high-tech operation is not carried out outside the state and appealed to government agencies, philanthropists and religious institutions to come to the aid of the parents. Mr. Andrew Musa, a corporal with the Nigeria Police currently serving with the Otukpo division is the father of the joined twins. He said “there has never been such strange delivery in his family lineage. www.leadership.ng/news/120813/woman-delivered-siamese-twins-3-legs |

The Kano University of Technology Alumni Association has declared that industrial action always embarked by the university lecturers was no longer fashionable in Nigeria. The association also charged the striking university lecturers to be creative in fighting the course of education in the country. Addressing the Press in Kano shortly after its maiden annual general meeting, one of the members of the alumni group, Fahad Ibrahim Danladi, stated that “resorting to industrial action as a means of arm twisting the federal government overtime has not in any way yielded any positive result, more especially now that downing of tools has become a bandwagon in resolving industrial dispute in Nigeria. “I personally believe that their approach should be different from the current practice which in my opinion would refocus the strategy in industrial dispute. I don’t subscribed to this whole concept of strike action that has been made notorious. It has not work out anything and I don’t think it’s a panacea to the lingering problems facing education in Nigeria.” Danladi though, agreed that ASUU is fighting a genuine course but maintained that the association’s position is that there has to be alternative to strike to save the future of the teeming students. “I’m saying with all modesty that the industrial actions of the ASUU has been detrimental to the nation’s education sector and has not yielded any positives and as such they should change tactics and adopt new measures that are going to help the education.” The KUT alumni however urged the federal government to see to the quick resolution of the impasse to allow students resume lectures and other academic activities. www.vanguardngr.com/2013/08/strike-ASUU-has-failed-nigerians/ |

Omotola Ekeinde Jalade has kicked against the passing of the child marriage section of the constitution, which is currently passing through some changes. The sexy actress vented her anger on the Nigerian Senators for voting the section of the constitution. She said this at the MBGN beauty contest and emphatically made her stand known on the issue. Omosexy, as she is also called, stated in her speech that she is against child marriage. Read her speech below; "I am today one of the most influential person/people in the world because I wasn't given off to marriage before the age of 18. "It scares and totally shocks me that the Senate in Nigeria (the most populous black nation in the world and giant of Africa) would not be passing in a law ensuring that every child should compulsorily be enrolled in school. "A very alarming number of children today are on the streets hawking or have been abused, raped or are married to men/women who should be protecting them. Who protects the children of Nigeria? Would we wait for another Milala before we act? Should we now remove the parental caution on movies that say 'Not for persons below 18'? "This is a call for justice and equity for children especially the Nigerian girl child, who has the right to quality education, a childhood and the decision of whom and when to marry. "My Name is Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and I say No to phedophilia and No to the Senate bill endorsing child marriage in Nigeria. www.nigeriafilms.com/news/22537/6/omotola-says-no-to-girl-child-marriage.html |
