Celebrities / What Is Your Problem? Pay Your Workers! – Charly Boy Slams Gov. Bello by Drsheddy(m): 3:34pm On Jan 10, 2018
Maverick entertainer, Charles Oputa a.k.a Charly Boy has expressed his grievances with Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, over his non-payment of workers salaries.

The convener of the Our Mumu Don Do movement questioned what Gov. Bello used various monies received by his administration to accomplish.

In the video released on the movements twitter handle, Charly Boy expressed concern over the supposed suicide committed by several young Kogi residents, while annoyingly wondering what kind of “boy” the Kogi Governor is.
The human rights activist explained that Gov. Bello received Paris Fund twice without paying workers, alleging with gesticulations that the Governor embezzled the funds.

Kogi Government on Sunday confirmed the compulsory retirement of eight permanent secretaries, some directors and dismissal of 1, 774 others from the state civil service.

The affected staff were served their letters last December.

The letters were signed by the state Head of Service, Mrs Deborah Ogunmola and the Chairman of the state Civil Service Commission, Mr Ado Shaibu.

A copy of the retirement letter addressed to one of the affected permanent secretaries indicated that the retirement was “in the interest of the public.”

Some of the affected permanent secretaries told NAN that they were contemplating legal action.

However, Mrs Petra Akinti-Onyegbule, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Yahaya Bello, defended the action, saying it was part of ongoing reforms in the civil service.

According to her, the retirement affected only permanent secretaries that have served for four years and above.

“The retired permanent secretaries have been paid their consolidated benefits that accrued to them.

“Also affected are civil servants who have attained the special salary grade level 17,” she said.

The governor’s media aide added that directors that served for eight years and above would also be affected. She said the exact number of directors to be affected would be based on the outcome of the recent promotion interviews conducted for them.

“ In order to get the best replacement for the retired permanent secretaries, directors who had been in office for eight years and above but are yet to attain retirement age or maximum number of years in office were given the opportunity to partake in the exams to fill the position of permanent secretaries.

“The result of the examinations which held on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 and followed by interviews is yet to be out.

“Until the result is out, we will not be able to put a definite figure on the number of directors that will be affected by the compulsory retirement,’’ she said.

The chief press secretary also confirmed that 1,667 workers with fake certificates were dismissed from the state civil service.

She said that those dismissed were uncovered during the screening carried out by the state government in 2016 and 2017.

Akinti-Onyegbule also said 107 other workers were dismissed for engaging in fraudulent activities.

“Kogi state government is carrying out reforms at different stages to reposition its civil service for effectiveness, efficiency and productivity.

“The screening exercise which began in 2016 has since ended. “The reversal of the inverted pyramid at the civil service is another phase of the much needed reforms meant to ensure the civil service plays its role as the engine room of government efficiently and effectively.” she said.

Politics / 2019: Buhari Will Get More Votes In Kogi Than Katsina – Gov. Bello by Drsheddy(m): 8:03pm On Jan 06, 2018
Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, said on Friday President Muhammadu Buhari would get more votes in Kogi State than his home state, Katsina, if he decides to run for presidential elections in 2019.

The governor stated this while speaking with State House correspondents after observing jumaat service at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He said: “I’m sure you are following us as we are receiving decampees from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and all other political parties. And any time we hold any decamping rally in any local government area you will see the mammoth crowd that turns out.

“So, Kogi State has already endorsed President Buhari for second term. We are just waiting for the time to come. You are going to see the votes that will come out of Kogi State. It will dwarf that of Katsina State I can assure you.”

Bello said his state is not owing workers’ salaries. The governor added: “In Kogi State today we are up to date as far as salary is concerned. In the month of December like Mr. President magnanimously assisted us with another tranche of Paris Club Refund, our own figure was N1.2 billion and some other change on top.

“We didn’t just stopped at that, we borrowed up to N10 billion and we added November/December allocation to our figures and we were able to clear four months at a stretch before Christmas and some left over were cleared before this January in Kogi State.

“As you all know the salary was very bogus and according to the figure we had we were able to distribute it among these months.

“Moving forward from this January, we have decided that we are going to make use of our clock-in device for every civil servant in Kogi State both at local and state levels. So that as you come to work and clock-in, that is exactly how your salary will end up being generated.

“It is online, it is automated so nobody is going to cheat anybody. That is how we are going to go in the state so Kogi state civil servants and pensioners will be happy with this administration.”

Crime / New Year Attack: Wike Places N200m Bounty On Perpertrators by Drsheddy(m): 1:08pm On Jan 02, 2018
The Governor in reaction to the attack promised to reward anyone who can identify the perpetrators with the sum of N200million.

Wike said this on Tuesday during a visit to the community, alongside heads of security agencies in the state. He assured the victims of government’s support and also vowed to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.

One of the victims of the attack, who lost her husband and child in the attack told the Governor that the hoodlums stormed her home on the day of the attack and suddenly started shooting anyone in sight.

A combined team of the army, the Police, Department of State Services (DSS) and men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC) have since swung into action to ensure arrest the suspects behind the attack.
