Car Talk › .......... Price Of Nigerian Mobil 1.........78200 by dru23(op): 9:43pm On Dec 28, 2025
So of recent we had a few complaints that my original Mobil 1 from the USA should be cheaper coz price of engine oil has gone down......

Upon doing our findings Mobil 1 Nigeria is 78200. We sell lower than that and better quality and most importantly we have various viscosity...

We are trying to offer customers quality and make it affordable to all..

Please do not frustrate our goals......... And please do not call and ask for additional discounts....

My Lagos contact Damola says people tend to be very rude and demanding.... And very entitled.... This is why I don't publicly post my USA WhatsApp number

As we enter 2026... There is no NRFW ... NO ROOM
FOR WEAKNESS...

We will not tolerate customer rudeness. Let's be guided. Happy New Year in advance

You said it correctly. I use full synthetic oil that mechanics say it last for 6months but due to many factors such as dust (as you mentioned), traffic, hot weather, etc.. I changed it between 2-3months. It’s expensive but my engine performance is top notch.

Same for gear maintenance, I do it twice in a year.
If you using original brand like Mobil 1 , Valvoline, Pennzoil, Castrol etc . You should be changing at the recommended intervals unless you are driving under extreme conditions...

The function of engine air filter is to prevent dust or dirt from getting into the engine. It allows the engine to breath and operate the way it should..... Change your engine air filter regular and you will be fine.

Changing your transmission fluid twice a Year is only asking for problems and wasting money. Transmission fluid should not be change unless it is due or the color is dark..

Unless you are driving your car constantly in the sand beach or in the Sahara Desert . There is no need to be changing transmission fluid twice a year or engine oil frequently like that

Hmmm that’s true because when I first serviced my car with 5W 30, it took 90secs then for the engine ignition to drop up to 1,000rpm unlike when I switched to OW 20 or 0W 30 which takes 30-40secs to attain the same.
Just make sure you continue to use 0w20 and if you can use high mileage oil . The high mileage oil continue to clean out any sludge and give more lubrication
Car Talk › Re: How Nigerian Drivers Destroy Their Car Engines Without Knowing It by dru23(m):

Nigeria environment is completely different from what manufacturers factor in when recommending use and change of engine oil.
So, it should depend on how and where you use the car. Nigeria atmosphere has a lot of dust particles that unfortunately find their ways into the engines
. This alters completely the efficiency and the duration of whatever engine oil you use. For me, I change engine oil every month or once I drive the car for 3,000 km
Baba Nigeria weather has nothing to do with anything at all . The manufacturer has factor in the most extreme case that they car will operate. Places in the USA like Texas, California, Florida, las Vegas, Arizona have year round weather like Nigeria. The manufacturer cannot make cars for each region in the USA based on weather conditions. The car engine are made for all extreme cases regardless of cold or hot region......

Toyota hilux for example is not used in the USA market. The USA has a very strict emissions law. But Toyota hilux is very popular in Arab countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar) and their weather is like hell fire compare to Nigeria.. But that same hilux recommends 5w30. Keep in mind these Arab countries don't have crazy emissions law like the USA that will require car manufacturers to use the thinner oil . Below 👇

You started that Nigeria has a lot of dust and particles that find their way to the engine. And this is your reason why we don't need to follow owners manual..

Baba your engine air filter is responsible to prevent dust and dirt from entering your engine. This has nothing to do with oil matter. As a car owners you should be checking your engine air filter often to either replace the air filter or dust the dirt off . Most cars should have two Air filters.. pic below 👇 of what air filter looks like... ..

Let us be guided in what we say and write in public. I don't know munch about cars. But I know enough to do research and apply common sense.....

We can also bring other brands of your choice. The most popular is Valvoline restored and protect

Exactly what I was trying to point out to the guy . Our mechanics have done so much damage it’s scary .
Very scary, I was Tiktok comment section and someone said our Nigeria weather is different so they can't follow recommended advice for thinner oil that manufacturers suggested...
I said to them places like Arizona, Las Vegas, Florida , and Texas have a similar weather to Nigeria weather year long, even hotter.. so does that mean car manufacturers build different cars for different regions in the USA...

Sincere question here - do you think modern engines still need the warm up?
I thought that was an issue with older cars
A modern engine that uses factory recommend oil only should take 30sec or less to warm up. Or better yet until the RPM goes down to 1k

I saw some pple saying cars produced from yr 2000 to date doesn't need worm up b4 driving especially old engine from Night till morning. Every car with any model engine deserved to be worm up for at least 4-5minutes especially in the morning b4 driving bcus the engine has taken over 8 hours to cool so as the engine oil so when you start the engine small, it stimulates the engine oil to go round the engine and ensure some level of lubrication and its make your engine move well b4 you will start accelerating at higher speed. These engines are just like human
beings; sm1 just woke you up and start running immediately?
Baba no car should take up to 4 to 5 minutes before driving off ......

If you are maintaining the car and you are using the recommended the oil , the most it should take is 30 seconds or wait till the RPM drops down below 1k . If you the maintain the engine it shouldn't take more than that......

Now if you are using much thicker oil like 20w50 , which modern cars don't really use . It will take more time for that thick oil to circulate before driving off ......

A healthy car that uses recommended engine oil should only take at most 50 seconds for the RPM to get below 1k before driving.....

You can always catch me on tiktok on car maintenance tips and imported products from the USA

The recommended oil is 0w20 or 5w20. The 4-cylinder has a factory defect and consume oil . The v6 would have been an excellent choice

Mobil 1 5w30 high mileage is your best choice to start with . And you can monitor the oil consumption from there....

I import from the USA and you can scan my product for authencity..

Autos › .... Lubricated Engine........... by dru23(op): 11:41pm On Dec 10, 2025
A well-lubricated engine runs smoothly, efficiently, and lasts longer because oil reduces friction, cools parts, cleans contaminants, prevents rust, and seals gaps between moving metal components like pistons, bearings, and camshafts,...

Below 👇 is a well Lubricated engine using original Mobil 1 USA...

Tokunbo car owners take note. Protect your engine and always buy original engine oil.....keep ur engine well Lubricated..

A nairalander placed an order for his tokunbo car. Valvoline was is choice after reading reviews.. And we made it happen......

Car Talk › ...................A/C Compressor........ by dru23(op): 2:24am On Dec 03, 2025
So we just ordered a new a/c compressor, condenser and a/c gas for a new client......

Converting an automatic compressor to manual compressor stresses your engine and consume fuel.

Below we got the client and OEM Denso compressor and a condenser. It is also recommended to change the condenser too .....

And we also got a/c gas. The Nigerian market is full of sub standard a/c gas that also contribute to fail compressor......

Once the job is done properly your ac is back to factory settings. And working efficiently your ac setting will be at lowest setting, even with the highest and burning temperature outside .

Most clients only complain that their cars is too cold after replacing with brand new automatic compressor. Their ac setting is always at their lowest..

Whenever you are ready for a brand new a/c compressor or have questions please give us a call. And we work something out for you.....

I'll go through the manual. I downloaded it on Google. Them say if u want to hide info from black man put in a book. The manual is actually bulky. But glance through it at most.

I'd do the oil change from all of your various inputs. I'm highly thankful for all of your responses. Was just a bit adamant as it's not even up to a month I'm on this. But not withstanding, it's better to do the right thing than be sorry.

A very sorry state for the country as everything is now low trust or low quality. What happened to SON.

Is there any online foreign plugs/site that one can order mb stuff?

Thank you.
No problem Baba we dey here for u

Thank you and much appreciated for your input.

I'll definitely consider this combo for next oil change soon. I just want to be doing the right thing.

Have been also making research on this thread and via Google. I think I have to service the transmission oil as well because the gear selector isn't smooth not that it doesn't shift but I observed from other videos that it has to be smooth like butter. And I noticed like when I select gear sometimes there's some slight noise maybe from the transmission like not smooth. Other times I don't notice any noise. It's possible it could be the ATS fluid since maybe since the vehicle was manufactured the transmission oil hasn't been changed. Just hypothesis. I'm yet to give the MB to a mechanic yet. Although I spoke to one of recent. I want to be knowledgeable at least, before the mechanic make a very small problem to a big one.

For the coolant. I saw a post on around page 100 (moniker, TRAC) that someone in this thread said, any coolant with HOAT, can be used for Benz w203, but to avoid the ones with silicate etc. And I Google Abro Red combo, I saw it's HOAT made.

For the oil, I checked the thread as well but all full of argument...some said 0w 40 that was recommended for Benz since Nigeria weather doesn't start at 0 etc that 10w 40 is better etc 20W 50 isn't synthetic and recommended for old models etc Im just confused, although patiently reading the thread. I just want to do the right thing. But I know an experienced MB would know what's best because sometimes it seems the verdict is unique and based on the country and weather.

What I noticed once I rev the engine, when temperature is 80c, sometimes it shows 'oil change in dashboard', don't know whether is as a result of the 20w50 ..or false readings of oil sensors as it's isn't the manufacturer's recommended and the dipstick shows oil is still in gauge or just oil sensors is faulty.

Should I be consigned, or just ignore?

Further inputs will be appreciated, thanks all.

Thanks. Would appreciate any further input
Regardless of weather my brother read the owners manual at all times..... It has to meet BENZ specification.... Many Benz mechanics have send Benz to their early grave and beyond

5w30
5w40
0w40

Transmission fluid it has to be recommended fluid from Benz and original. Fake dey naija too much

Once mechanic start to mess with your engine and transmission that car will never be the same

The Abro coolant, my brother I no fit use am . Most are just colored water.....

The amount of fakes in Nigeria now, go shock you even fake people come join am too

Mb experts in the house, I greet u all. Pls, see the coolant and engine oil that was used for oil change in C230 V6. Is the oil and coolant ok?

I also noticed when driving sometimes on high rev it shows 'Check oil nearest gas station' and disappears. Sometimes reappears.

I checked the dipstick, oil level is lightly under the Max level like 75%.

My consign is, is the oil ok, as it was changed recently alongside the oil filter.

I did some Google, it says sometimes it could be Oil Sensors faulty or not using the recommend oil.

Your inputs will be appreciated.
If you are a serious BENZ OWNER this are types of oil you suppose to be using. It meets Benz oil specifications..... Newer BENZ model will not tolerate such abuse for longer.. the older Benz might tolerate lots of abuse......

Abro coolant: This is definitely not the right coolant for any cars talkles of Benz.. Coolant has special formula and addictives that protects your engine cooling system...

Preston coolant: This coolant will definitely do a better Job than the Abaro coolant..

My conclusion and opinion: Dey manage the car like that with what you have. The reason is that BENZ is naija used and naija abused. Reverting to manufacturer reset might be of no use and waste of money........

Car Talk › ............ General Maintenance........... by dru23(op): 5:22am On Nov 27, 2025
Your car should be a reflection of the owner.. keeping your car clean and washed is very important...

Now most car washes in Lagos use very harsh chemicals to wash your car. And most times it affects the paint job........

Waxing your car once a year keeps your car glowing and protects the paint. So when it is time to sell that car , you get better value for it .........

So we will be bringing back Gold Class car shampo and conditioner.. It will bring that shine and protect the paint.....
