Thanks DustyDee. I think our thoughts are aligned. But what of the manufacturing sector?

delbourg: For experienced positions NLNG pays the highest
Are you trying to tell me that NLNG pays higher than Total, Agip and Chevron? I doubt that. They pay well but not as much as the IOCs. Don't forget that the staff of NLNG are made up of staff of these OICs.
Can some tell me the highest paying by sector? i.e.
Manfacturing: Top 5
Telcoms: Top 5
Oil & Gas (multinationals): Top 5
Oil & Gas (local): Top 5
Banking/Financial Services: Top 5

first of all the Z30 would be available from the 23rd of sept 2013 (the UK...pre order) and I'm sure Naija would get theirs a couple of weeks after that.
Secondly and more importantly the OFFICIAL 10.2 would be available for download from the 2nd week of october. So for those of us that are scared of leaks (me include) thats a welcome development.
Now to the issue of BBM that is gonna be avaialbel from the 21st of Sept to both andriod and iOS, if u wanna move to those platforms thats your choice but I still prefer the BB experience, hub and all. I don't like teh iOS restrict environment and Andriod to me is a secondary phone (better than Apple but not as good as the BB in my opinion). There are some tempting Android phones out there I must say...like the HTC One...but I'd remain a BB person at heart still.
As for the guy that was commenting on malware cos of headless apps on the new 10.2....I highly doubt that. The BB10 OS is not malware prone like andriod OS so its really difficult to get into it.
Guys any thoghts on the new iPhone 5s? more of the same phone with a new gimmick of a touch sensor....as for the iPhone 5c...thats a a laugh....its an iPhone 5 in many colours not a new phone.
What else can i say...exciting days ahead for us...gadget lovers

Thanks Walcolm and Justfree.
I'm just so fustrayed with this stuff....me that I love bb die. Justfree, I had heard that when I upgraded to 10.1.0.4181 that my problems would be solved. The update did restore smart dialing back to the phone settings but still the same issue. So I'm a bit sceptical about the 10.2 being able to solve the problem. Also I don't have d liver for leaks. I've seen a bricked blackberry the result of installing a leak (though the guy probably didn't install it properly). So I guess I'd have to keep suffering in silence till ofgicial 10.2 comes out.
PhonesRe: Blackberry 10 Devices Home: Z10, Q10 Etc by dsaynt: 5:14pm On Sep 10, 2013
Ok, quick question...I'm currently running 10.1.0.4181 on my Z10 (STL100-1)which was the last official update for the STL100-1. I had a problem with the prior update to 10.1 from the original 10.0...problem being that when I receive SMS the person's number is what shows as opposed to the person's name and I have the name n number stored amongst my contacts. I thought with the upgrade to 10.1.0.4181 that the issue would go but its still there. I've communicated the problem to blackberry through the twitter handle @blackberryhelp but they haven't been able to help. The intial upgrade from 10.0 to 10.1 removed smart dialling from my phone settings(the twitter help team seemed to think the lack of it was the cause of my problems) but with this last upgrade smart dialing came back and still same problem.
PLEASE does ANYONE have a solution to this problem? Thanks in advance

obiscolly: Now rocking the 10.2. It's really freshhh!!! BBM Channels on point and i love the new bbm interface. Also instagram is working seamlessly. 10.2.0.1443 leak.
Wow! instagram on it? awesome. I can't wait for 10.2 to become official (I'm scared of leaks and the fact that I might nuke my phone)
PhonesRe: What's A Blackberry Capable Of That An Android Phone Is Not by dsaynt: 3:57pm On Sep 10, 2013
Okay lets get one thing straight? is the btw Techno and BB? if so..no contest cos the BB wins. If its between Android and the BB10 (thats actually comparing the two OS/Ecosystems then thats up for debate).
I own a Samsung S4 and a BB Z10. Both are wonderful phones...though I think the HTC One would have been a better representative of the android family. They both have their pros and cons. Android is open to viruses and identity theft(through some downloaded apps that are built to do that- Android being an open system allows that). The BB OS and iOs(Apple) can't habour or allow viruses(only the memory card in the BB can get corrupted and as for the Apple since it has not memory card goes away scot free). As for chatting BBM is still the best (more reason they are trying to make it non exclusive and try to generate money from it).Whatsapp is good but no where near BBM. Only BBM would show u that d msg had been delivered AND READ...(pls the second tick in whats app doesn't denote read...just that it has been passed on the relevant networ provider...Whatsapp peeps themselves admitted that)...winner in chat=BBM. As for Apps...Android wins hands down due to the availabilty of Apps (though like some one said...do we really use or need so many).
Big advantage of Andriod is the availability of the OS across different phone makers so na for u to choose.
Big advantage of Blackberry is security and email handling (especially with BB10)
Another advantage of the blackberry is the best physical and virtual keyboard on any phone (can anyone challenge that?)
So its all down to individual prefrences.

Cheers guys.

TV/MoviesRe: Olympus Has Fallen Vs White House Down: Which Is Better? by dsaynt: 3:30pm On Sep 06, 2013
OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN wins hands down. WHD was a bit too comical to be serious..all that driving around in the white house grounds etc. Jamie Foxx didn't potray the president well. On the other hand Olympus has fallen was action packed! The attack on the white house and the motive was more realistic than WHD. The way they infiltrated the white house in WHD was too simplistic. The only grouse I have with Olympus Has Fallen is the fact that the S.Korean president was allowed into the bunker. Real life....that would never have happened...maybe only him but not his details...nevers!

bluezeski: Most of the guys in this forum are lying their head off.!!! especially those who claim they are saving 40 - 60% OF THEIR INCOME and/or invest up to 30% .,Well it is possible that they are ravaged by the state of the nation. If anyone can save up yp 50% OF HIS/HER INCOME IN A COUNTRY THAT HAS AN FLAGGERING INFLATION RATE, HIGH COST OF LIVING, 20% increase in house rent yearly, 40% unemployment rate. low stock market return, low deposit interest rate, high LENDING rate etc etc... then, the person in question must be living in one room at Lagos area of 'self proclaimed city like ofada-mowe', treks to work, hunts his own meat and fish, cultivates his own cassava and rice, eats one meal a day (at home!!), does not have a car nor a wife nor children nor relatives, finds it a waste to travel even 2o kilometers outside where he is living, does not have a smart phone, does not have a cable TV., does not drink beer, nor buy for others, does not pay tithe at church, does not speak to his father nor mother, does not go to his village, and definitely does not pay tax!
Hahahaha! in one word...GBAM! Bros na true you talk....60%/70% savings indeed

Ma people. I am impressed o! All these savings...60,70,80 some even 90%. Do you guys live in naiaj at all? Me I dey save small sha. I save about 10% cash for rainy days. I save 15% for investments. I pay 10% of my gross as tithe. so I guess its only 25% I save. But then I also put 18% into a joint saving with my wife (is that savings? Lol). expenses dey chop plenty o! I've tried my possible best to reduce my expenses and would welcome ideas if possible. I don't party or drink or chase women. Nepa doesn't help, office is far from home so plenty fuel,9% of my pay is spent on family/dependants,Salary is just there...nothing spectacular. In short I don tire for this rat race o! I may join politics soon....more money there. Lol

pelusi: All these ,i save this i save that,i hope people are telling us the truth. For example a family man of one hundred thousand naira monthly,no allowances and works in VI,and spends at least N400 to N500 daily on transport alone, caters for the family, manages to live in badore axxis of lekki, and pays a house rent of N300,000 for just a room and parlour annually. No medical allowance, housing, transport etc,all is just the one hundred thousand naira.Yet he atimes attends to his parents needs. My people lets be sincere, can this man even save anything?.Note annual accomodation is like removing or saving N25000-30,000.Transport is roughly N15,000.Breaking this further 30,000 + 15,000,you notice that this has come down to 55k monthly. Can 55k sort out atleast 90% of the above mentioned expenses considering living in lekki axxis. It is very difficult for this kind person to save.Alternatively, let somebody give me a break down on how such person can save, because i was suprised seeing people here mentioning they save 20%,30%,etc even 80 % of their salary.Thanks.
Honestly I agree with you. With amount mentioned it is hard to save. I only save cos i earn more than that. But as they say..pay yourself first. Cut down on any enjoyment. do family planning. encourage the wife to work too and contribute (my wife helps out on the little little expenses). all these and more can help....but bros this thing hard o!
Nairaland GeneralRe: What Percent Of Your Income Do You Save Monthly? by dsaynt: 3:45pm On Aug 20, 2013
Quick question...the percentagE all of you are quoting,is it the percentage on your gross? Abeg when man collect take-home after paying Govt and tithe...the small one na expense dey chop am o!...Lol. on a serious note...What should be kept aside sould comprise of ready cash for emergency and the one you invest(make your money to work for you). Personally I am trying to work and stick to 10% cash savings and 20& for investment (total of 30%). E hard o but i'd get there.
PhonesRe: BB Q10 Hot Or Not? by dsaynt: 10:35pm On Feb 23, 2013
Lol...at the milk drinking. I bow to your wisdom o great old one. I agree with the upgrade in iPhone 5 from 4s. My grouse with apple is the 'upgrades'that they have from the 3 to 3s and 4 to 4s. Rip offs. The 5 is only the one they made something slightly different from the old phones...the first radical change from the 3 and 4series. The maps was a joke, lack of in built youtube silly. All in a bid to be fully closed n keep out others. Now to the other issue, the hype about the Z10 is because it is a radical change from the old bbs not that people think it would beat the andriods and the iphones out there. Issue i have with apple is the closed ecosystem and most importantly is their pechant for tweaking a few things that they had d capacity for doing before they launched the prior phone and then launch it as a new phone (add an S after the number....Lol). A typical apple rip off.
PhonesRe: BB Q10 Hot Or Not? by dsaynt: 10:32pm On Feb 22, 2013
Lol...seems you pick n choose what u want. I never said the blackberry ecosystem was open...though in terms of open ecosystems its better than the iPhone. As for the fart apps i was only by sacarstic (Hope you know what than means..Lol). Anyways I'm not here to join issues with you. My sole aim was to point out that the Z10 isn't as bad as people make it out. Compared to the S3 and iPhone 5 its greta but then again S4 should be out in April so it would take over again as the king. iPhones are just rip offs in my opinion. Every 6months they add something small that they already had before but dos of their greed they make those apple fanboys go buy new phones every 6months or so. Though I love blackberry, I acknowledge they are still behind the others especially andriod phones. However they are catching up even if its slow. I own both blackberry and andriod phones so I'm in a position to compare. Both great phones but as for iPhones, i reserve my comments(though its obvious i dont like them). In closing, the Z10 would do well in Nigeria till some folks realise no more BIS as we know it...no more unlimited data
PhonesRe: BB Q10 Hot Or Not? by dsaynt: 5:17pm On Feb 21, 2013
Lmao! you r all very funny. Bickering over typos etc. Anyways there is a blackberry Z10 and a Q10(which should be due early April). As for speed tests etc, depends on the conditions which it is tested on. Blackberry has never been strong in the USA but it is quite strong in the emerging markets (indoneasia, Nigeria etc). When it comes to pros and cons, all phones have them. The iPhone for instance would never appeal to me becos of its closed ecosystem and the whole tiresome 'everything must go through iTunes' experience. Its a good phone all the same and hardly ever crashes. Android phones on the other hand are open hence has its security challenges (malware anyone?), blackberry might not have the best user experience(like the iPhone) or customability (like Andriod phones) but it does what it does well best...handling emails etc (the iPhone etc still come 2nd in this regards). As for Apps...the so called huge iPhone app world is not actually all that...most are duplicates and useless...whats with a fart app? If you prune them down to useful apps you find out that iPhone apps and android apps are aroubd the same number(blackberry is not up to them but close-if u r judging on useful apps). Thats my own twopence on the phones. In conclusion the Z10 is a lovely phone (and I know naija peeps....they'd buy it in droves)

Another question for the house:
Hmmm, so since we've all concluded that oil companies pay a lot. What about manufacturing companies? which ones pay the most? e.g amongst PZ, P&G, GUINESS, NIGERIAN BREWERIES, NESTLE,CADBURY etc whichones pay the most and what is their salary like? Please entry level would be a better level playing filed when quoting salaries, and take home pay please.
Thanks
CultureRe: The Superstition Of The Osu Cast System In Igbo Land by dsaynt: 9:44am On Sep 09, 2011
I always knew that stuff on Moments with Mo was on sided cos they never got inputs from the other parties involved. Anyways It seems that the Osu issue is restricted to a few certain parts of Imo and Enugu states.
Though people generalise a lot e.g. calling all people from Owerri in Imo Osu and Orodo in Imo Osu. As it is, it's only a few villages that are Osu.
The issue is that there is heavy interaction btw everyone till marriage comes up. In Igbo land marriage involves the extended families so even if the couple is okay with it they have to consider their extended family who wouldn't want to become Osu by association.
So therein lies the problem
CareerRe: Best Paying Company In Nigeria? by dsaynt: 12:12pm On Jul 27, 2011
I beg to differ. 180k-210k? I seriously doubt that. I should put it in the range of 250k-300k for a fresh graduate. Afterall I know a fresh graduate in one of these local E&P oil companies that takes home 250k and Oando is a much bigger company in terms of size and most importantly revenue.
CareerRe: Best Paying Company In Nigeria? by dsaynt: 12:53pm On Jul 26, 2011
yes we've all agreed that oil companies pay the most. What some of us want to know is which of them pay the most and what their entry level salaries are ( for technical and non-technical roles), this is a level playing(paying)ground that would give one an idea of whether they pay well.
On that note I recently learnt that Agrip is the highest paying E&P company in Nigeria contratry to the popular opinion that Chevron and Total pay the most.
What of the Local E&P companies? I hear Oando pays quite well, also heard that Sahara isn't paying that well anymore due to reduced political clout(don't quote me o!), so who amongst the local E&P oil companies pay well? any answers? anyone got a clue?
CareerRe: Best Paying Company In Nigeria? by dsaynt: 3:37pm On Jul 07, 2011
Lol.
My people there is nothing wrong in trying to find out how much different companies pay. It helps those that r trying to switch jobs, i.e. it gives them an idea of how much to bargain for. An entry level salary base gives and idea of the salary differentials so one would be able to tell which company pays better.
On that note everyone has been talking about the oil majors, what about the local ones? whats there pay like? I kmow it would be near what the majors pay but it shouldn't be that bad. So please does anyone have an idea? mucho gracias
CultureRe: Igbo Royal Fathers Move To End Osu Cast System by dsaynt: 9:18pm On Jul 05, 2011
Well I guess they feel its easier to talk about stuff that doesn't really affect them directly, they sit back and take a critical look, my own is nobody should feel offended when they talk about theirs o!
On the other hand we Igbos should take the neccessary step in eradicating this, since we might not be able to change our parents then lets change our children! If the killing of twins in calabar could stop then this can stop as well.
CareerRe: Best Paying Company In Nigeria? by dsaynt: 4:15pm On Jul 04, 2011
I do believe that Oando pays quite well. I don't know about entry level but I know a girl that has just been there for about 3yrs and earns like 650k a month. I also know of someone that is entry level Seplat and earns about 300k a month.
But common guys , which ones r paying quite well? spill d beans.

Another question: do these LOCAL oil companies pay well? do they pay as well as the multi nationals? I mean, some of them just bought oil blocks so they too have become producers of oil.
Please can someone give me a list of the highest paying local E&P oil companies in Nigeria. I've heard that Sahara Energy, NigerDelta E&P Ltd, Seven Energy, SEPLAT, Conoil, Afren(First Hydrocarbon) are amongst the high payers? Any truth in that? Someone should please help me answer this. Thanks

Which part of anambra are you from, because i know that in idemili which is made up of towns like nkpor, obosi, ogidi, oba, etc,we have always and still have OSU,and idemili is nri.

Well Vicenzo, apparently this issue is rampant in Imo State, the Mbaitoli LGA area to be precise and Umuode in Enugu state. I've never heard of Osu from Anambra state.
There are several communitites I've heard of> Umuaka in Imo, Eziaka,Orodo in Imo, Umuode in Enugu, I've heard there are some from Owerri itself but nobody has collaborated that part but I've never heard of any from Anambra.

The issue on ground is that some people (like me and I am not Osu) would like the end this but then one would find it hard to go against centuries old rooted belief most especially when your larger family would be involved. Nobody would like to see their brother or sister become an outcast because of their actions. If the burden was one the indidvidual alone I'm sure we would have seen may marriages to Osu people.

This is my own 2cents to the topic
CultureRe: The Superstition Of The Osu Cast System In Igbo Land by dsaynt: 2:05pm On Jul 03, 2011
So coincidentally does any one know of any other community apart from eziama in orodo in imo, umuaka in imo and umuode in enugu state. Or are these the only communities with osu? from what I've heard majority of the communities in the owerri area are osu and until the state government takes action this form of apartied would continue to exist. The fact that osu can't buy land or trade etc can be controlled and helped by the government. its not like in the olden days that land buying etc was strictly on family basis. So over to u government!
