Due to how high the foundation is we are going to deck some compartments as basement, from the look of things we shall relocate the bakery there.

Is there a practical reason for digging this well, instead of a borehole?

Yes there is.

Deep well has more advantages.

* Deep well has more space for water recharge.

* Deep well is easy to be serviced, like cleaning up the well after randomly, changing the submersible pump if faulty, etc.

* There are several ways of getting water from the deep well too not just through the pump.

Having concluded the 1st floor slab panels, we shall embark on a break for more preparations.

Foundation beam reinforcement done.

I am considering basement since the height of the foundation at the rear is bringing such opportunity.

Good job. Why didn't you introduce the centre column for the spiral staircase for support.

Thank you, nice observation but take a careful look. Every spiral stair/step should have a column or beam, or column and beam support whichis best practice. This one is enjoying both column and beam support.

Well, from the little i have seen in some well built restaurants and eateries, Oversight Cast OSC ( what some call DPC or German floor) step up and downs are not really much-loved. It was based on this and the likeness for a level floor especially in commercial buildings that made us sort for a level oversight Cast floor irrespective of the land's steep slope.

Therefore with the height of this foundation due to sharp slopes (towards the back and the right side) we suggested to the client to take advantage of the sharp slopes for a basement. Very suitable for storage or workers lounge.

You are welcome, well we will first of all add links or ligature to the rebar then join a new rebar for the next floor to this almost buried rebar during the beam and deck iron work.

For learning purpose, in the 3rd frame the reinforcements seems to be less than 400mm (I may be wrong) after the 5th course(post lintel) will that length be sufficient for development length/bar?

Just before the deck beings a quick review of the Leveling.

We consider 10 courses before the lintel and 5 courses after lintel to achieve 4.1m- 4.2m wall before the deck

I don't know why some are saying the design is "ugly". People have differences in taste and the design is what the owner wants. His money, his choice.

Now, if the criticism was about structural deficiences, that would be a different conversation.

Personally, i doff my heart to the owner of the project, it is obviously a massive undertaking.

This is a very matured response to an otherwise weird critic. The part of the design being questioned has no structural implication to the building and it's the owner's choice. Keep up the good work

Leveling for first floor deck

The design is a 7 bedroom duplex that have a 4m height basement.

The basement has an exit and entrance stairs (step) one of the step is accessible from the ground floor living room or parlour while the other step is accessible from outside the apartment ( the compound).

THE BASEMENT
What we have in the basement is : A swimming pool, a changing room, convenience (public toilet), bar and a lounge.

GROUND FLOOR
On the ground floor is: A foyer, an ante room, living room, dining, bar, kitchen, kitchen veranda, 2rooms ensuit, exit and entrance steps to the basement, a spiral step to the first floor.

FIRST FLOOR
What is situated on the first floor is: A Family lounge, mini parlour to the master bedroom, master's bedroom, madam's room, girls room, boys room, 3 verandas and step to the next floor.

SECOND FLOOR/ PENT HOUSE
Second floor is living room, master and madam's bedroom (hide out), bar, open site out and private pool.
