FashionLadies: Beautiful Tricks For A Wonderful Facial Foundation (make-up). by DUBlog(op): 3:41pm On Apr 17, 2016
On this week's " Saturday Beauty Tricks" I would be dishing out tips on how to have a wonderful facial foundation.

Foundation is without a doubt the most anxiety-inducing product in our makeup bags. Unlike, say, eyeliner, where you have a bit of wiggle room (it’s not smudged, it’s smoky), when foundation is done wrong, there’s no hiding the mistake. (No wonder all those much more approachable BB creams have become so popular!).

According to a new study commissioned by Make Up For Ever through the research firm The NPD Group, a whopping 73percent of women admit that finding the right foundation is a challenge. 54 percent of women say finding their colour match is their number one issue, and 62 percent have problems applying
foundation correctly.

1. Use A Brush:
Fifty-two percent of women don’t use a tool to apply their foundation, but most makeup artists, insist that using brush is a must for an even, flawless finish. Use a brush with a domed head to buff foundation into the skin with light, circular motions. This technique also lets you use less product and build coverage, since it’s easier to add more foundation than to take off excess.

2. Mix And Match Formulas:
Every woman need her foundation to last for 10 to 12hours. The formula is really important.” Instead of loading up the face with powder, which can look chalky, use a mattifying foundation on oilier areas in the T-zone, and a dewier formula around the perimeter of the face.

3. Prevent Creasing:
There’s no magic formula that won’t crease in fine lines, but there are techniques you can use to minimise creasing. “If my client is wearing eye cream, I’ll blot off the eye cream with a tissue because the more emollient the skin, the more likely that the foundation will crease. For lines around the mouth, after applying foundation, use a fine brush and just remove it from those lines.

4. Colour Correct Deeper Skin Tones:
Brown skin often needs to be prepped with an orange colour corrector to counteract dark purplish tones around the mouth and under the eyes.

5. Apply Foundation Everywhere:
Seriously, it’s not just for your face. You probably already know to blend foundation past your jawline and onto the neck, but if your décolletage is showing, you’ll want to blend the colour there too. Plus, don’t forget the ears! Fair-skinned complexions in particular are susceptible to redness on the ears. For those who like to fake a tan with their foundation, they can apply colours to their legs and arms, too. (You don’t have to do this as long as your foundation is a general match for your complexion).

Also, be sure to blend a light layer of foundation over your eyelids and lips. This will help your eye shadow and lipstick shades go on truer to their shades.

6. Use Highlighter Before Foundation:
We’ve always whipped out the YSL Touche Eclat after applying foundation, but you can reverse the order. Having the highlighter underneath gives that glow.

CelebritiesIs Life Really Worth Living? by DUBlog(op): 1:49pm On Apr 15, 2016
They say life is beautiful but in today's world, that can only be the words of the well-to-do or the rich in the society. However one may view it, life is not a simple parlour game neither is it a bed of rose especially in this trying times that things are hard.

Countless times I have heard some depressed persons lament on how cruel, horrible, sad, pathetic and meaningless life is. Simply because of the unfair position life has placed them.

But wait a minute! Is this life really worth living? This is one question among too many that has lingered in my heart for decades and also got me thinking if this life is really worth it.

If life is really worth living why then is there too many hardship and suffering? why also do only a few persons experience the fun and pleasure of life at the detriment of others?

"I woke up one morning and I ask myself, is life worth living or should I blast myself", these were the exact lyrics of one of the world's greatest rapper Tupac Amaru Shakur before he died. However, its no longer news that most people don't give value and importance to life anymore, which is why a human being would carry a bomb, kill himself and kill others for no justifiable reason. Also there are too many cases of reckless driving on the highway which has led to so many loss of life. Cultists kill themselves with impunity, over meaningless and worthless things.

Living life is like a dream, hard times is all we see and the wickedness of man has become worse and unimaginable as days go by. The rich enriching themselves at the detriment of the poor, while the poor is been subjected to abject poverty, misery and agony. On the news around the globe all we see and hear is of crisis, war, looting, chaos and violence which has led to several questions like: "can this world ever be a better place to live? Can this earth ever become a paradise of some sort? Is this life really worth living?

Maybe life is really not worth living, don't you think? We live our lives as if everyday is going to be our last because we are not even promise tomorrow. If after all the suffering and hardship we still live to die then life is cruel and unfair to some people.

The truth is, no matter how worthless life is or less importance we attach to it or however we may view it, life is sweet, life is Beautiful, life is worth living, otherwise God wouldn't have giving us life in the first place.

Life is a luxury given to us and should not be taken granted of.

Give or take, life is in phases and men are in sizes and those who have never gone through the hurdles of life tends to be very shallow. Sometimes the hardship we experience in life is only a way of moulding, shaping and stretching us beyond our limit to become stronger and a better person in the society. This is part of lives lessons which makes our story interesting and worth talking about.

Saying life isn't worth living is revoking the freedom to live. Life isn't worth living, unless it is lived for someone else and you will not be able to find a meaning to life if you don't give it one yourself.

The most important thing is to enjoy life and to be happy, that is all that matters.

The truth be told, we all have the ability to make life enjoyable for ourselves. There are but two things worth living for:

1. To do what is worthy of being written

2. And to write what is worthy of being read, Rose Perot said.

What this means can be linked to what Abraham Lincoln said "in the end its not the years in your life that counts, its the life in ur years". That is why the life of Nelson Mandela will always be talked about by endless generations all over the world especiallly in Africa, because he lived a good life, a life worth of emulation.

Therefore it is important to know that life is worth living because there is a purpose to fulfil. If you love life, life will love you same. God is not a fool to have given life, and kept you alive

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL!!!

CrimeWife Kidnaps Her Kids, Demands Ransom From Husband (photo) by DUBlog(op): 7:47am On Apr 13, 2016
The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a woman, Mrs. Abigail Brown, for kidnapping her two children to get ransom from her husband.

Brown and her husband’s former driver, identified simply as ThankGod, were said to have kidnapped Abigail’s two children and called the husband to pay a ransom to secure their release.

Brown initially denied the allegation against her, but later said the act was not intentional.

She said it was frustration that made her to commit the crime, adding that she had no means of survival.

She claimed that her husband had abandoned her and the two children to suffer, adding that the kidnap was the only means of making some money from her husband.

It was gathered that the suspect had abducted her two children, aged two and 10 respectively, and hid them in her sister’s place.

She was said to be awaiting the ransom from the husband before she was apprehended by the police.

She said, “I did it because of frustration. My husband abandoned me and my children.

“Since he left us and went away, I have been suffering with my children, and I know that he has money.

“I only did it to make him bring money for me to take care of the children we had together.”

It was learnt that the suspect had demanded N6m as ransom to secure the release of the two children.

She said, “I did not demand up to that amount, but I demanded money from my husband.”

ThankGod, the former driver to the woman’s husband, who accepted taking part in the act, said his former boss’ wife contacted him.

ThankGod said, “She called me to help her. She told me to take the two children to her sister’s place. That is how I got involved.

“She used me to act as the kidnapper of the two children before we were arrested. She lured me into it.”

Meanwhile, the state police command on Tuesday paraded 146 suspected criminals in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Ahmad Muhammad, said the suspects were. arrested in separate raids by the police in different communities of the state.

No fewer that ten Fulani herdsmen have again invaded the farm of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF, Chief Olu Falae, killing one of his Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC security guards.

It would be recalled that five fulani
herdsmen are currently standing trial at the state High Court over the kidnap o f Chief Falae in October last year.

The state government had to cough out N5m to pay as ransom to the kidnappers before the politician was released by his abductors.

The identity of the dead OPC member could not be ascertained last night. Reports has it that the herdsmen stormed the farm located at Ilado in Akure North area of Ondo state and kidnapped the security guard.

His corpse was later discovered few days ago inside a pool of water which is few kilometers to the farm.

It was gathered that the herdsmen invaded the farm last weekend and they were restricted by the security guards engaged by the politician following incessant invasion of the farm.

The herdsmen, according to sources, retreated only to surface again and reportedly kidnapped one of the security guards on the farm.

It was learnt that the matter was reported at the state police command and a search party was organized following which his corpse was discovered days later.

The state police command which had sent out invitation for a Press briefing to newsmen in the state yesterday abruptly cancelled it.

Commissioner of Police, Hilda Harrison did not give any reason for the cancellation of the media briefing.

But sources at the state Police Command said that the assignment may have been halted because the Commissioner had no approval from the Inspector General of Police.

The Police spokesman, Femi Joseph, declined comment on the recent attack and killing of the security guard of the former Finance Minister.

Joseph said that all the questions should be directed to the Police Commissioner.

Also, the Personal. Assistant to chief Falae, Moshood Raji said that the matter was a criminal matter and would be handled by the state Police Command.

Raji said he could not comment on the development because the police were still investigating the matter.

The mobile telephone of Chief Falae was switched off permanently on Friday.

His Oba-ile residence when visited was deserted Friday night.

Foreign AffairsPhoto: Indiana Mother Missing Since 1974 Found Alive In Texas by DUBlog(op): 3:19am On Mar 28, 2016
An Indiana mother of three who vanished without a trace in 1974 has been found alive in Texas.

Lula Ann Gillespie-Miller was 28 when she signed away her parental rights to her three children, including a newborn, over to her parents.

A letter her parents received was postmarked from Richmond, Indiana in 1975 and was the last time they heard from Gillespie-Miller.

Gillespie-Miller thought she was too young for motherhood, she reportedly told her parents. For the next four decades, she was a missing person in the state of Indiana.

According to the Indiana State Police , that all changed after Detective Sergeant Scott Jarvis took the case in January 2014.

The Doe Network , a group that assists families with missing persons investigations, initially contacted ISP about Gillespie-Miller.

Gillespie-Miller began his search in Richmond, where he discovered a case of a Jane Doe whose body was buried in an unmarked grave in the Indiana town.

The detective took a sample of Gillespie-Miller's daughter's DNA to compare to her missing mother's and potentially determine whether the buried body was hers. While awaiting the DNA test results, police said Jarvis' investigation took him in some new directions.

He began to following the trail of a woman with similarities to Gillespie-Miller who had lived in Tennessee in the 1980’s, then moved to Texas.

That trail led to a woman who'd been living in a small Texas town since the 1990's, possibly under an alias.

After this past Thursday, Jarvis would no longer need the DNA results after Texas Rangers the detective asked to visit the woman in Texas made contact.

Police say the woman admitted to them that she is, indeed, Lula Ann Gillespie-Miller.

She is now 69 years old. Gillespie-Miller has committed no crime, police say.

Authorities will not reveal exactly where she now resides because she also retains her right to anonymity.

However, she gave police permission to give her daughter Tammy Miller her address so the two might soon reconnect.

However, Tammy told PEOPLE that's simply not going to happen.

"I'm angry," Miller, 45, said in her first extensive interview.

"This isn't going to be one of those happy, made-for-TV movies.

CrimePolice Arrest 4 UNILAG Students At The Graveside Of Frnd Who Died Of Poisoning by DUBlog(op): 8:28pm On Mar 26, 2016
Police have confirmed the arrest of four students of University of Lagos (UNILAG) for allegedly acting suspiciously at the graveside of a colleague, Eniola Jacobs, who died from an intake of a lethal pest-control chemical widely known as "Sniper."

Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Mr. Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the arrest to our correspondent this morning, said the students acted "suspiciously."

The arrested persons, identified as Adeboye Timothy, Aramowo Stephen, Awe-Obe Raphael and Iwerima Jacob are said to be members, along with the deceased, of the Cherubim and Seraphim campus fellowship.

"We arrested the students at the graveside when they insisted they wanted to exhume the corpse for resurrection," Mr. Adejobi said.

The PPRO said the action was unacceptable to the parents and also appeared strange to the police. He confirmed that the students arrested are being detained at the Criminal Investigations Department of the Eleweran Division in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Jacobs died Sunday morning at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) while being treated for toxin intake.

Colleagues of the deceased, who were at the scene of the incident, said a bottle of Pepsi and a container bearing the chemical were found in his bag shortly after the incident, which took place at the library of the Faculty of Education.

"His screams were coming from the Education Library. He got assistance and was taken to the Alpha Base from where he was moved to the hospital," a classmate said.

The deceased was said to have shouted: "sniper...sniper..!" while hurrying out of the library and calling for help.

Two accounts have emerged on the cause of the deceased's action. One has it that cult members forced him to take the sniper while his colleagues said he could have taken the action out of acute depression.

"He missed the opportunity to register his courses during his first year and had been worried about it at some point," a member of his department said.

According to his friends, Mr. Jacobs, a 300-level student of microbiology, was doing well in his studies despite the
problem he had in his first year.

"I think he was already getting over it," another colleague said. The colleague also disclosed that the Course Adviser of the deceased, Dr. Nze, had advised him to ensure that he kept getting good grades while working on the courses he missed during his first year.

The Lagos State Police Command has already begun an investigation into the allegation that he was forced by some cult members to take the toxic substance.

According to the APC chieftain, the change process requires time especially coming after “ the conscience of our nation has been under attack for many years.

“We were handed a way of governance in which anything goes and too much went – as if gone with the wind. Our present was squandered and future mortgaged”.

Tinubu while pleading for support and patience with the APC administration said “Nigeria has the greatest opportunity to get it right with a leader like Mr. Muhammad Buhari.”

“There is much to fix. President Buhari is committed to fixing them. But he needs your support and patience. He cannot do it all alone. We must stand beside him or else we may be knocked down and not stand at all.

“Thus, let us be resolved to see reform and change that will make Nigeria rise as the nation it should be” Tinubu said while speaking at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University convocation in Sokoto on Saturday.

The former Lagos State governor also took on the those he described as “nay Sayers and negative spinners” who argue that no change was taking place.

“It’s easy for those who are greedy to think that change is easy. Change is not about comfort of today, but the success of tomorrow. Nigeria was in the rollercoaster of losing hope.

Then our party brought cure. Don’t let anyone deceive you, the cure is here”. Mr. Tinubu spoke,he was honoured with the Honorary Doctor of Business Administration at the 40th

CrimeDiamond Bank Marketer Who Fled With Customers N309,000 Deposit Arrested by DUBlog(op): 4:12pm On Mar 16, 2016
A marketer with Diamond Bank Plc, Okota branch, Lagos, who reportedly fled with a sum of N309,000 collected as deposits from traders, has been arrested by the police.

The bank had contracted the suspect, Isiaka Abiodun, from Strategic Outsourcing Limited in the Lekki area of the state in 2013.

It was learnt that Abiodun had collected the sum from one Mrs. Nneka Eze, a trader in Lekki, and two others, identified only as Ebulu and Chidera.

Punch Metro, however, gathered that only Eze, whose deposit was N300,000, had approached the bank on the alleged fraud.

A Punch correspondent was told that the 28-year-old suspect had obtained the sum from the traders sometime in July 2015, but disappeared from the bank in November, when the fraud was discovered.

The bank was said to have reported the crime to the company through which Abiodun was employed. It was learnt that the chief security officer of the firm consequently reported the case at the Ajah Police Division.

The police said the suspect was later tracked down to his house on March 7, 2016.

But in his statement to the police, Abiodun said he used the money to pay the medical bill of his mother who had a stroke. He said he intended to refund the money piecemeal from his salaries, adding that he had repaid N50,000.

He said, “I am a contract worker with the bank and I have been working there for three years. It is true that I collected N309,000 from the bank customers. But I used the money to treat my mother who had a stroke. I travelled in November to attend to her. I have paid N50,000 to the bank. I intend to pay the balance in instalment from my salary.”

A police prosecutor, Inspector I. Okeke, brought the suspect before a Tinubu Magistrate’s Court on Monday on one count of stealing.

Okeke told the court that the defendant had confessed to the offence, which is punishable under Section 285 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The charge read, “That you, Isiaka Abiodun (28), sometime in July, 2015 at Diamond Bank, Okota branch, Okota, in the Lagos Magisterial District, being a marketer attached to the bank from Strategic Outsourcing Limited, Southern View Estate, Lekki, Lagos, did steal a sum of N309,000 given to you for saving, being property of one Mrs. Nneka Eze, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 285 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.”

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the count and elected summary trial.

He was granted bail by the presiding magistrate, Mr. A. Adefulire, in the sum of N400,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The magistrate added that the sureties must tender evidence of tax payments and details of their residential addresses to the court for verification.

The case was adjourned till April 20, 2016.

CrimeNDLEA Arrests 60-year-old Monarch With 12kg Of Cannabis In Nasarawa (photo) by DUBlog(op): 5:22am On Mar 12, 2016
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Nasarawa State on Friday apprehended the 60-year-old village head of Koje community in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state, Mr. Samuel Agu, for allegedly cultivating and harvesting 12kg Indian hemp otherwise called cannabis sativa in his farm land.

Parading the suspect at the command office in Lafia, the state capital, the NDLEA commander in the state, Mr.Sumaila Ethan, said, “On March 4, 2016, we arrested Mr. Samuel Agu, the village head with bags of cannabis sativa weighing about12 kg.

“The village head confessed that he had been getting the supply of the cannabis seeds from a Fulani herdsman, the weed seized from him was the remnant of what he harvested from his farm.

“The village head, who is expected to live an exemplary life style that is worthy of emulation, was the same person selling cannabis for consumption.”

He, however, expressed worry on how those entrusted with the responsibilities of deterring criminality in their various domains end up getting involved in it, describing it as ungodly and unfortunate.

“It is pertinent to alert the people of the state and the whole world that, there is an alarming increase in the activities of illicit barons in the state particularly those entrusted with positions of leadership in our rural communities,” he added.

Ethan also said that from January 2016 to date, the command had arrested 28 suspects in the state and about 460kg of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances were also seized.

Out of the number, seven drug barons were successfully prosecuted and convicted at the Federal High Court, Lafia while 10 others were successfully rehabilitated. Other cases are ongoing at the Federal High Court, Lafia,” he said.

Crime"I Derive Pleasure In Stealing" – Robbery Suspect Confesses (photo) by DUBlog(op): 10:48am On Mar 10, 2016
A suspected thief, Babatunde Ibrahim, who allegedly specialises in stealing phones, says he derives pleasure in the act.

The 28-year-old suspect told the police that he had been stealing since his childhood, confessing that he had stolen over 100 phones.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Ibrahim was arrested on Sunday by operatives of Rapid Response Squad, Lagos State Police Command, at the Ikeja Along end of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway while he was returning from a burglary in the Ilupeju area of the state.

The suspect told the police that he had entered the building through the balcony door which was left ajar, and stole three phones and other valuables.

Ibrahim said he usually sold the stolen items to Sanni Azeez and Hakeem Kamoru, adding that his targets were mainly motorists trapped in gridlock.

He said, “The act of stealing has become part of me. I am a specialist in burgling people’s houses. I used to gain entrance into any house by breaking the door or cutting window net with a razor blade. I derive pleasure in taking what does not belong to me.”

“Apart from burglary, I also operate during traffic jams, especially on Ikorodu Road, Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway and Apapa-Oshodi Expressway. The last operation I went for was at Ilupeju where luck ran out on me. I stole two Nokia phones, one BlackBerry and other valuables. The receivers of the phones I stole are Sanni (Azeez) and Hakeem (Kamoru). They live on Akala Street, Mushin.”

Our correspondent learnt that Ibrahim’s confession, led to the arrest of the two accomplices.

The RRS, Commander, Olatunji Disu, said his men gave. Ibrahim a chase after noticing that his movement was suspicious, adding that he was arrested when he could not give satisfactory answers to questions they asked him.

He said, “We noticed his suspicious movement. He wanted to drop his bag in one corner, but when he found out that we had seen him, he bolted. But we gave him a chase and caught up with him. We conducted a thorough check on his bag where we recovered the stolen items.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said the suspect would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigation.

She said, “The three suspects have been transferred to the Ilupeju Police Station. They will be charged to court.”

PoliticsBiafra: Kanu Apologises To Buhari, Jonathan, Igbo Elders by DUBlog(op): 9:42am On Mar 10, 2016
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra and founder of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has expressed regret for referring to President Muhammadu Buhari as a terrorist,
evil and a paedophile in his radio broadcasts.

Kanu, who has been charged along with two others by the Federal Government before a Federal High Court in Abuja on six counts of treason and other ancillary offences, said he intended to write a private letter to Buhari to express his apology to the President.

He also apologised to former President Goodluck Jonathan and Igbo elders for “some uncomplimentary things” he said about them.

The 48-year-old pro-Biafran agitation leader, who is, however, unapologetic about his demand for a Republic of
Biafra, has been in the custody of the Department of State Services since his arrest in Lagos on October 14, 2015.

He tendered the apology for his comment against Buhari and others in a statement which he made to the DSS on October 23.

The prosecution, in its summary of the case, alleged that in one of the radio broadcasts by Kanu on August 1, 2015, he expressed his resolve to actualise the Republic of Biafra and “cast aspersions on the person and the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

The statement read in part, “Reference to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a terrorist, evil and a paedophile is regrettable and uncalled for and for that, I unreservedly apologise and will be doing so in a private letter to the President.

“Before PMB (President Muhammadu Buhari) there was the administration of Goodluck Jonathan. I also said
uncomplimentary things about him and Igbo elders as well, which I now recognise should not have happened because it is un-African to be rude or insolent to elders.

“All I was trying to do is to draw attention to the problems afflicting society and something done about them.”

Kanu, who described himself as a Nigerian and a British citizen, justified his agitation for a Biafra Republic.

He said IPOB’s secessionist agenda was informed by the “incessant hardship, lack of holistic development in the socio-economic landscape of Nigeria, lack of youth employment, corruption in high offices and economic regression.”

He added that the agitation by IPOB, which, according to him, was founded in London in 2012 by a group of people
from the South-South and South-East regions of the country, was in line with the United Nations Charter on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples ratified by African countries, including
Nigeria.

In contrast to the counts of managing and assisting in the management of an unlawful society preferred against Kanu and two others, the Radio Biafra founder stated that IPOB, which the prosecution described as unlawful, was registered with the UN to pursue the rights of the people of Biafra.

He stated, “I can confirm that I, Nnamdi Kanu, is the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra worldwide as a legitimately and duly registered body at the United Nations pursuing the rights of a specific indigenous people, in this case, Biafra, to seek self determination according to the said charter.

“The reason for the formation of the Indigenous People of Biafra is to avail those referring to themselves as Biafrans the opportunity made available as a result of the United
Nations declaration to seek the peaceful rebirth of Biafra in line with international law.”

Kanu, who is a son of a traditional ruler in Abia State, Sir I.O. Kanu, said he operated Radio Biafra, whose programmes “are designed to wake up the public from its slumber and address the issues of the time” because of his belief in free speech and freedom of expression.

He explained that the intended Biafra Republic comprised Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Imo, Anambra, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta states as well the Igbanke part of
Edo State; Igala part of Kogi State and Idoma/Igede part of Edo State.

Apart from Kanu, one of the two other defendants in the six counts filed by the Federal Government is a Field
Maintenance Engineer, David Nwawuisi, charged with the responsibility of maintaining MTN masts in Enugu State.

The other defendant, Benjamin Madubugwu, was said to be living in the Ubilisiuzo, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, where he allegedly received custody of a container, housing transmitters, from Kanu.

On December 23 during the accused persons’ appearance in court for their scheduled arraignment, Kanu refused to take his plea due to what he called his lack of confidence in the presiding judge, Justice Ahmed Mohammed.

The judge promptly returned the case file to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, for
reassignment to another judge and the three accused persons were returned to the custody of the Department of
State Services.

The fresh charges were filed against the three men barely 24 hours after Justice Adeniyi Ademola, in a ruling on Kanu’s bail application on December 17, ordered his unconditional release from DSS custody having been detained for about two months without any valid charges filed against him.

The PUNCH had reported that the Federal Government had alleged that transmitters for Radio Biafra, spreading secessionist agenda for carving out Biafra region from Nigeria, were found to be installed on MTN masts in Enugu and Anambra states between April and May 2015.

No new date has been fixed for the arraignment of the accused persons.

Education"Nigeria; A Country Where Qualitative Education Is Denied The Poor" by DUBlog(op): 11:02am On Mar 09, 2016
With the spate of strike actions in Nigeria's government owned high institutions, one is wondered to ask if education is really for all or for some selected individuals. The memory of the seven months ASUU (Academic Staff Union of Universities) strike that rocked the nation in 2013, can hardly be erased from the minds of Nigerian undergraduates. After the strike students of Nasarawa State University precisely, breathed an air of relieve, believing it was the end of strike actions in our institutions. Only for students of Nasarawa state University to be woken by a sudden indefinite strike action imposed by the ASUU NSUK chapter on the 7th of March, 2016. Which was due to the state government's refusal to pay up allowances it owed the lecturers since 2009, even after the ASUU NSUk chapter had issued a three weeks ultimatum to Nasarawa state government.

Some of the pertinent questions that come to mind are; why are Nigerian teachers unjustly paid? Why does the government prioritise issues such as airport construction, buying of bullet proof cars for her ministers and commissioners over the educational empowerment and enlightenment of her youths? Why do government officials prioritise their wages over the education of young Nigerian minds, who are envisaged to be the leaders of tomorrow?

These are young minds that are projected to be the leaders of tomorrow. How would a Nigerian youth be able to compete with his counterparts in the western world when his educational background is in ruin. Just for a four years degree, you are expected to spend over 6 years as a result of consistent strike. Negligence on the part of the government I think is the cause for the decline in the academic quality of Nigeria Universities.

Citing this impending doom even our politician who swore allegiance to its citizens have all resulted to sending their children abroad for studies. Ridiculously these kids who are sent abroad to study with taxpayers money are attached more importance in the Nigerian labour market because they hold a certificate from either the prestigious Cambridge, Oxford or Yale university. Automatically they get the choicest jobs in highest paying firms and organisations. While the average Nigerian youth who strenuously studied in a government owned university is left with to scrabble for the available crumbs. You might ask, what is a first-class-degree from our local university compared to a second-class-lower-degree earned in Cambridge, Oxford or Yale university? That's only because as Africans we have over hyped the whiteman's certificate more than ours, even after independence we are still living under colonial imperialism as we depend on the whiteman for virtually everything from refined crude to even toothpicks.

Today Ghana and Benin Republic's education sector is booming because Nigerian youths have incessantly bombard their country to acquire higher education.

The educational needs of the Nigerian youth has been denigrated to the bin and held with little importance by even the government.

Little wonder why Ayodele David Dada the young man who graduated from University of Lagos in 2016 with a C.G.P.A of 5.00, a feat that has not been attained in the institution for
over 5 decades is hardly celebrated. How then is a Nigerian undergraduate ought to be encouraged? How then does a Nigerian undergraduate ought to know that good grades actually pays? During the days of Wole Soyinka, Cyprian Ekwensi , Chinua Achebe etc, the government awarded such graduates with cash prices, a comfortable job, a personal car and a luxury apartment but these days reserve is the case, probably that's the major reason why little or no youth has been able to attain such literary height after them.

EducationSAD Times! As Nasarawa State University Goes On Indefinite Strike Again. by DUBlog(op): 12:44pm On Mar 08, 2016
Barely three years after the water strike that rocked the institution on the 25 of January 2013, which led to the lose of lives of some students, the institution was closed down for not less than 3 months. As the school was about recuperating from the water scarcity strike, suddenly!! the ASUU strike commenced on 1st of June 2013, the school was yet again shut down for ASUU Nationwide strike which lasted for about 7 months.

Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) ASSU has however officially declared its forging ahead with the strike action. The decision was reached after officials of ASUU NSUK chapter had a decisive meeting at the Assembly hall of the institution today 7th March, 2016. This is coming after the Gov. Al-makura led administration had failed to meet with its own part of the bargain. Having exhausted the 3-week ultimatum given to the management of Nasarawa State University, Keffi and the state government to meet its demand, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) NSUK Chapter declared a
“comprehensive, total and indefinite strike that will continue until all issues raised are resolved”.

In a press release at the end of the meeting held at the Assembly Hall of the University, the Union ordered that “no lecture, no supervision, no field trip/workshop, no defense whether internal or external, no weekend lecture, no sub degree lecture, no practical, no conference on campus, no external examination, no ceremonial activity such as convocation and matriculation involving academic staff and academic staff in library and ICT will not render services”.

The release also states that “no statutory meetings at all levels- senate, faculty, department, and subcommittee” involving members should hold.

It directed “members who holding positions as Council members, deans, head of department" not to attend statutory meetings called by the administration.

ASUU also instructed members not to see students, supervise students or perform any engagement whether official or private with students of all cadres.

The Union is demanding payment of backlog of Earned Allowances and the repositioning of the university’s infrastructure.
