PoliticsNorthern Govs. To Obtain Loan From Saudi; Senate Cautions, Says Its Illegal by DUBlog(op):
The Senate has warned the Chairman, Northern State Governors’ Forum, NSGF, and Governor of Borno State, Kassim Shettima, against plan by governors of the region to obtain loan from Saudi Arabia.

Shettima had led four northern governors two weeks ago to Saudi Arabia to negotiate for loan with the Islamic Development Bank, IDB. He said the visit was just an exploratory one and not necessarily to ask for loan.

Contacted, Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the President, Mr Garba Shehu, said the Presidency had no comment on the issue.

According to the Senate, no state borrows such money without the approval of the National Assembly. It said that the move to get the loan by the governors was not only contrary to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, but also illegal, stressing that the governors should urgently jettison their plan.

The Senate noted that whoever must have led the northern governors to Saudi Arabia for such a loan was ignorant of the relevant provisions of the law or had chosen to circumvent the law.

While urging the governors to read the relevant acts, the Senate stressed that the Islamic Development Bank must not release any of their funds until due process was followed or else they will be “on their own.”

The Senate in a statement, entitled: “Northern Governors' Saudi loan illegality” and signed, yesterday, by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign and Domestic Debts as well as Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Senator Shehu Sani, APC, Kaduna Central, said: “The recent solo moves by governors of the northern states to obtain loan from the Saudi-based Islamic Development Bank is in direct conflict with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“The action of the governors runs contrary to the relevant provisions of the Act that clearly and unambiguously vest the exclusive right to borrow externally on the Federal Government.

"The Debt Management Office Act, 2003, Section 21 and external borrowing guidelines, 2008-2012, paragraph 2.1 clearly states that: 'Any Government or its agencies can only obtain external loan through the Federal Government and such loans must be supported by Federal Government guarantee' and the act is explicitly clear that no state, local government or federal agency shall on its own borrow externally.

What the law says “Governors of the northern states cannot just jet out to Saudi Arabia to solicit or collect loans without following the due process of the law and the law further states that 'state governments and their agencies wishing to obtain external loans shall obtain Federal Government approval in principle from the Federal Ministry of Finance.' This is the provision of paragraph 2:2(II)of the external borrowing guidelines.

The statement noted that: “In addition to the above, paragraph 2.2(v) of the same guideline succinctly declares that 'All external borrowing proposals of governments and their agencies for the next fiscal year must be submitted not later than 90 days preceding the year to the Minister of Finance for incorporation into the public sector external borrowing programme for the coming year.'

“Paragraph 2:2(vii) demands that borrowing proposal must be submitted to the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Debt Management Office for consideration.

"The proposal should include the purpose for which the borrowing is intended and its link to the developmental agenda of the government; cost benefit analysis showing the economic and social benefits to which the intended borrowing is to be applied; cash flow statements of the MDAs to ascertain their viability and sustainability.

“To borrow from external sources, the Debt Management Office has to ascertain if the borrower has not over-borrowed and the borrowing proposal must be incorporated into the annual budget for Federal Executive
Council approval.

“No state or group of states can borrow from any external source without approval from the National Assembly and clearance from the Federal Ministry of Justice.

“Whoever led the Northern governors to Saudi for loan is ignorant of the relevant provisions of the law or he has chosen to circumvent the law.

"I wish to advise the northern governors to go back and read the relevant Acts. And I call on the Islamic Development Bank not to release any of their funds until the due process is followed or else they will be on their own.”

Why we went to Saudi Arabia —Northern Govs...

But reacting on behalf of the governors, Borno State Commissioner for Information, Home Affairs and Culture, Mohammed Bulama, said the trip to Saudi Arabia by the governors was just an exploratory one, stressing that things had not got to the stage of seeking Federal Government’s approval for any loan.

"We are conscious that there are institutions of the Federal Government that would give approval but things have not got to that stage," he said.

He told Vanguard on phone, last night, that an official of the Federal Ministry of Finance was on the trip to Saudi Arabia. According to him, the governors embarked on the trip because of the developmental challenges facing the north, especially the North-East dogged by Boko Haram insurgency.
HealthPremenstrual Syndrome P.M.S by DUBlog(op): 2:39pm On Feb 11, 2016
By: Esther Chiamaka Onyedinma

A week or two before your menstruation begins, you may notice bloating, headaches, mood swings or other physical and emotional changes. These monthly symptoms are known as premenstrual syndrome or P.M.S.

Premenstrual syndrome is a medical condition which symptoms affect many women of child bearing age. P.M.S can cause a variety of physical and psychological symptoms that occur just before your menstrual period.

The American college of obstetrics and cynecology defines P.M.S as "the cyclic occurrence of symptoms that are sufficiently severe to interface with some aspects of life and that appear with consistent and predictable relationships to the menses (menstrual period).

WHAT CAUSES P.M.S?
The exact cause of PMS is unknown but it seems to be related to the fluctuating levels of hormones, including estrogen and progesterone, that occur in preparation for menstruation.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF P.M.S?
There are many PMS symptoms. The number and severity of symptoms vary from woman to woman. In addition, the severity of the symptom can vary from each month. Common PMS symptoms includes:
*Bloating
* Breast tenderness
* Waist and abdominal pain
* Diarrhea
* Aggression
* Sensitivity to light or sound
* Trouble with concentrating
* Changes in sleeping pattern
* Headaches
* Back aches
* Joint aches
* Food craving (over eating)
* Crying spells
* Fatigue
* Irritability
* Anxiety
* Mood Swing and or depression.

Up to 85% of menstruating women experience some of these symptoms related to their period, while only 2% - 10% experience severe symptoms.

IS THERE A TREATMENT FOR P.M.S?
P.M.S treatment is based on relieving symptoms. Treatment begins with a thorough assessment of your symptoms and their impact on your daily life. Treatments for P.M.S include the following:

1. Exercise Regularly: Each week you should get.

* Two hours and thirty minutes intensive physical activity.

* Muscle-strengthening activities on two or more days.

* Plenty of exercise helps to decrease bloating and improve your mental health.

2. Nutrition: Eating balanced diet helps to improve your overall health and energy level. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains as they help reduce or avoid the intake of sugar, salt, caffeine and alcohol, especially when you are having P.M.S symptoms.

3. Get enough rest: Try to get at least eight hour each night to improve fatigue.

4. Drink plenty of fluids to ease abdominal bloating.

5. Talk about it with family, friends or partner: It may help them to understand how you are feeling. It may be best to do this after your period when symptoms have eased. Find healthy ways to cope with stress, write in a journal. Some women also find yoga massage helpful.

6. Don't smoke

7. Take supplements such as folic acid, vitamins B6, calcium and magnesium to reduce tommy cramps and mood swings.

Over the counter pain relieves may help ease physical symptoms such as tommy cramps, headaches, backaches and breast tenderness. These includes:

* Asprin

* Ibuprofen (eye-byu-proit-fuhn) (for instance Advil motion, midol cramp)

* Ketroprofen (key-ton-proh-fuhny (for instance, Drudis KT)

* Naproken (Nah-prok-suh-) (For instance Aleve)

In more cases severe cases of pain, prescription of medicine may be used to ease Symptoms. One approach has been to use drugs that skip ovulation such as birth control pills. Women on the pill report fewer P.M.S symptoms as well as lighter periods.

Researchers continue to search for new ways to treat P.M.S

PoliticsRe: 2016 Budget Is Full Of Errors, Can’t Be Passed – National Assembly by DUBlog(op): 3:07am On Feb 10, 2016
Politics2016 Budget Is Full Of Errors, Can’t Be Passed – National Assembly by DUBlog(op): 3:02am On Feb 10, 2016
The two arms of the National Assembly, NASS, declared, yesterday, that the 2016 budget was full of errors, saying the document could no longer be passed on February 25 as earlier promised.

This came on a day the Senate Committee on Gas Resources rejected the N200 million allocation demanded by the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources in the budget for the treatment of Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, and another N200 million for a review of Nigeria Gas Master Plan.

Similarly, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, yesterday, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to save the country the national embarrassment being caused by the 2016 budget he presented to the National Assembly by formally withdrawing and representing it.

Budget can't be passed, say Goje, Jibrin Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Danjuma Goje, and his House of Representatives counterpart, Jibrin Abdulmumin, who disclosed this at a briefing, said the budget was fraught with too many errors, which had made its passage into law impossible.

Senator Goje noted that the Presidency had also admitted that there were errors in the budget, explaining that it would be inappropriate to give a new date now due to the errors that they would have to work on.

He said: “We are here in connection with the ongoing processing of the 2016 Budget because these two committees are the ones saddled with the production of the final copies of the budget that would be passed by the National Assembly for onward submission to Mr President for his assent and subsequent implementation.

“We want to remove all ambiguities, we want to remove all paddings. We want to produce a budget that is in line with the constitutional provision. During the budget defence, a lot of issues based on the padding of the budget, arising from over-bloated overheads and in some instances cases of over-bloated personnel cost.

"But generally, there has been a lot of issues. The appropriation committee would look at these issues after the whole budget defence and do a very thorough work aimed at doing a proper clean-up of the budget.

“So in summary, the time-table for passage of the budget is no longer realistic because as appropriation committees of both chambers of the National Assembly, we need additional time to do a thorough job for the 2016 budget.”

On his part, the House Chairman on Appropriation Committee, Abdulmumin, agreed that the two committees would have to do a proper clean up of the budget.

He said: “So we can pass a budget that is implementable and also acceptable to Nigerians. It is no longer realistic because we need sufficient time to pass a comprehensive budget.

“The President is an individual, the budget runs in thousands of pages, the President will not be able to go through it page by page.”

He explained that once the budget is passed into law, the life span of the budget would be counted to ensure that Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, implement it.

Asked to react to a threat made by the Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, that he would withdraw his budget, Jibrin said the withdrawing of a budget by the executive would not be tolerated by NASS.

Both chairmen also denied that the sudden shift in date had political colouration, adding that the shift was because of the many errors discovered in the budget.

Senate rejects N200m on PIB......

The Senate Committee on Gas Resources also yesterday, rejected the N200 million demanded in the budget by the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources for treatment of
the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB.

The committee also rejected request for allocation of additional N200 million for a review of the Nigeria Gas Master Plan.

The ministry, while defending its 2016 Budget before the committee, had said it needed N200 million for the passage of the PIB in the National Assembly.

Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Dr. Jamila Shuaru, while making presentation at the committee’s sitting, insisted that the amount was needed for the treatment of the petroleum bill.

But Senator Bassey Albert Akpan, chairman of the committee, backed by other members, said the allocation was not necessary because, according to him, the bill is already with the National Assembly.

“This bill is already with the National Assembly. So what do we need the money for? I don’t think you need the money. This could be one of the reasons we have so much deficit in
this year’s budget. Unless you can justify this expenditure, we need to do away with this,” Senator Albert said.

The committee members who spoke at the meeting, concurred with the chairman that the bill did not need additional funding for it to be passed.

The committee also disagreed with the ministry officials over the N200 million proposed in the 2016 budget for a review of Nigerian Gas Master Plan.

The committee said it discovered that funding request for the plan had been a recurring figure in previous budgets.

“You cannot be asking for funds to review what you have not even implemented,” Senator Albert said, adding that the only problem with the PIB was that there was no law backing it up.

Briefing the committee further, Dr. Jamila Shuaru said the country could not meet its gas needs because, according to her, many exigencies worked against the success of the
programme.

One of the exigencies, she said, was the $8 billion court judgement procured against the ministry by an investor whose identity she did not disclose.

Save us this shame, by Fayose.....

On his part, Ekiti State governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to save the country the national embarrassment being caused by the budget he presented to the National Assembly by formally withdrawing and representing it.

The governor in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Pubic Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said: “The President should admit that there were avoidable errors in the budget and since he is human and not immune to errors, he should simply do the needful by presenting a new and credible budget to the National Assembly.”

Governor Fayose described the revelation by Health Minister, Isaac Adewole, that the proposal drawn up by the ministry and submitted to the budget office had been doctored and that “foreign” appropriations, different from what was submitted, had been sneaked in as the height of national embarrassment.

While addressing the Senate Committee on Health during its budget defence session on Monday, Professor Adewole had stunned senators when he said details of the budget were not what he submitted to the Senate.

Fayose said: “Last week, we were told that the Senate discovered a sum of N10 billion questionably smuggled into the budget of the Ministry of Education for an allegedly questionable sub-head.

“Also, we were told of the existence of a budget mafia in the Presidency that was said to be responsible for the embarrassing allocations in the budget.

“Before now, we were told that a total of N3.87 billion was allocated for capital projects at the State House Clinic alone, over N700 million more than capital allocation to all the 16 federal teaching hospitals combined.

“Now, a whole minister has come out to say that budgetary provision for his ministry was forged!

“If under a President that says he is fighting corruption, the budget of the country got missing and we are now being told that the budget being considered by the National Assembly has been forged, one cannot but be afraid that there is possibility of Nigeria being forged one day, after the original must have gone missing.”

Budget well structured, says Ministry official The Ministry of Budget and Planning says that the 2016 Budget proposals submitted to the National Assembly (NASS) by President Muhammadu Buhari, were very well structured and targeted at reviving the economy, notwithstanding the fall in the oil price.

The ministry was reacting to different opinions trailing the 2016 budget proposal. It said that some errors were not unexpected in the changeover to the new Zero Based Budget, ZBB, approach.

In a statement, issued yesterday by the Director of Information, Mr. Charles Dafe, the Ministry said the Budget staff in the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, as well as those handling budget issues in all Ministries and Extra Ministerial Agencies (MDAs) were already grappling to master the technicalities in the ZBB template to address all irregularities in the budget.

SportsRe: Super Eagles Coach Oliseh Flees Nigeria, Alleges Occultic Manipulations In Camp by DUBlog(op): 8:55am On Feb 08, 2016
SportsSuper Eagles Coach Oliseh Flees Nigeria, Alleges Occultic Manipulations In Camp by DUBlog(op): 8:54am On Feb 08, 2016
As the zero hour approaches for the must win double header AFCON qualifier against the Pharaohs of Egypt on March 23, Sports Vanguard can reveal the real reasons why coach Sunday Oliseh may continue to tinker the Eagles from his base in Belgium.

After contracting a virus in one of his official assignments, camp sources informed that the former Juventus player has alleged occultic manipulations by his enemies on his life and has vowed to flee far from the country to where they could not fly to attack him.

“He is always scared in camp and suspicious of even members of his back room staff”, a close source to the team informed.

The source said that the outspoken coach allegedly confronted his staff and warned them that there were many witches and wizards who were trying to undermine the success of the Eagles.

“He warned those fond of putting their hands in their pockets before shaking him to desist or keep their handshakes as he feared they touch objects concealed in their pockets before offering to shake him”, the source said.

Also, the coach alleged that many of the people surrounding him do not believe in the success of the team as he claimed that they don’t rejoice when the Eagles score goals.

Beyond the trivial accusations of witches and wizards, Sports Vanguard also gathered that the coach had written to the federation to pay his outstanding N10 million accommodation fee as agreed in his contract(N5 million for 2015 and another N5 million for 2016) if they want him to reside in Nigeria as he said he would not stay in the hotels
when the Super Eagles are not in camp.

Christianity EtcChurch Crises: South-south Zone Breaks Out Of Assemblies Of God Church. by DUBlog(op): 10:24am On Feb 07, 2016
The South-South zone of the Assemblies of God Nigeria, has
pulled out of the church alleging marginalisation, gross injustice in ministers’ remuneration; unhealthy rivalry among ministers, inefficiency and escalating administrative and financial malfeasance.

The zonal chairman, Central Working Committee, South-South General Council, Assemblies of God, Evang. Nsikak Akpan, said that his zone decided to break away from the general council administration as a means of entrenching some degree of self-governance on all the zones under the general council administration of the church.

Akpan stated this in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Saturday at a press conference, attended by other executive members of the church including executive members of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria in Akwa Ibom.

According to Akpan, the general council had grown too big, which bred inefficiency and became too expensive to run.

He added that the trend led to unhealthy rivalry, resulting in a supremacy battle between the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Rev. Prof Paul Emeka and the executive committee members under Rev. Dr. Chidi Okoroafor.

He noted that there was no end in sight to the unhealthy rivalry and the inefficiency as the two clerics had been enmeshed in a fierce legal tussle, a development, he said had painted the church in a bad light.

“The South-South zone of the Assemblies of God has called for the decentralisation of the general council
administration to end marginalisation and gross injustice in ministers’ remuneration; unhealthy rivalry among ministers; inefficiency and escalating administrative and financial malfeasance.

“The only panacea to the growing crisis enveloping the Assemblies of God in Nigeria, leading to the birth of two general councils, which often result in fresh crises in the church across the nation, is to decentralise and reorganise the General Council into six or 12 autonomous general councils with little economic and administrative power at the centre,” he said.

HealthGhanaian Woman Gives Birth To Third Set Of Twins In Five Years (photos) by DUBlog(op): 5:51pm On Feb 06, 2016
A Ghanaian woman living in the UK with her husband has astounded nurses and upset odds of 500,000 to 1 by giving birth to her third consecutive set of twins. Abigail Adama, 30, gave birth at Bradford Royal Infirmary to the baby girls, who as yet have not been named. Mrs Adama and her husband Shaibu Abu-Adama, also 30, of Sutton Road, Tyersal, said they were astounded when they found out they were expecting another set of twins.

She said:

"We thought we were done with two sets, and then all of a sudden I realised I was pregnant again; it was a big shock and I cried because I was was not expecting it. The other kids are so happy to have two new baby sisters and could not wait to see them for the first time."

BusinessBritish Businessman Makes A Fortune Selling Bottled Fresh Air To The Chinese by DUBlog(op): 10:22am On Feb 06, 2016
British businessman says he has made nearly £16,000 selling bottles of fresh-air to China for a breath-taking £80 a bottle.

Leo De Watts, aged 27, claims Britain boasts the “ Louis Vuitton ” of finest fresh air.

The smog-plagued elite in Beijing and Shanghai have already snapped up early 200 of his 580ml decanters of British air in just a few weeks.

Leo sends friends and relatives out into the countryside - as far away from pollution as possible - to bottle fresh air.

His team of air-gricultural workers carry the bottles in adapted fishing nets - which are held aloft as they stride through muddy fields to harvest fresh air.

The bottles are left open for up to 10 minutes to capture the full fresh-air aroma - and ensure no grass or bugs get into the “organic” product.

Leo has been exporting bottles of fresh air from Dorset, Somerset, Wales, Wiltshire and Yorkshire to the Far East.

When customers open the bottle, the “experience” of inhaling the fresh-air lasts just a few seconds.

But some Chinese are also buying the air-tight bottles as novelty gifts that will never be opened.

Leo, from Gillingham, Dorset, claims each area of Britain has its own unique air aroma.

He said:

“I would say on the whole that Dorset air seems to pick up a few more scents of the ocean, as the breeze flows up the Jurassic Coast and over the lush pastures.

“Whereas air from the Yorkshire Dales tends to filter it’s way through much more flora, so the scent captures the subtle tones of the surrounding fields, giving different
qualities to the collection.

“Our customers all have high disposal incomes and want to buy gifts for someone - or someone wants to use it.

“There is a serious point to this though as Beijing, Zhuhai, and Shanghai are the major places where pollution is quite bad, whether it is the fault of the rest of the world or its China’s responsibility, we have a case of people living in smog.”

A firm in Canada sells bottled Rocky Mountain air to China but Leo is leading the British charge.

He said:

“I saw a few reports of people importing bottles of air and thought it was a bit ridiculous myself, and then I thought about it.

“When someone bottled water everyone thought it was ridiculous, now you have Evian and Volvic - why not bottle air?

“We are priced as a luxury item - it is not for every-day customers. If they want something that is cheaper they
can buy it.

“Think of us as being the equivalent of Louis Vuitton or Gucci, we are not likely to appeal to a mass market.

It is really a cottage industry at the moment - we have got a few people around the country who go out and bottle it.

"It doesn’t require that many people and you can collect quite a lot in one go and you don’t have to pay for it.”

His company is called Aethaer, which is from the ancient Greek word for pure fresh air.

CelebritiesRihanna's Dad Forgives Chris Brown For Beating Up His Daughter by DUBlog(op): 8:43am On Feb 06, 2016
Rihanna’s dad has admitted finding it “tough” to hear his daughter singing on her new album about the savage beating she suffered from Chris Brown – but says he has forgiven her ex.

Ronald Fenty told the Mirror:

“Chris will always have a place in our family and my heart. He respects me, calls me pops and I like him- despite what happened. He’s very talented and always humble. I’d support them being together.”

The album Anti which hit the charts at No7 yesterday, features the track Love On The Brain in which Rihanna sings:

“It beats me black and blue but it f**** me so good / And I can’t get enough.”

It can be intrepreted to imply she was happy to stay in the violent relationship for the sex.

And Ronald says: “I like her stories but this song was tough to listen to.”

Brown punched and bit the singer in an attack in 2009, but the couple rekindled their relationship while he was completing five years probation. They split again in 2013.

Fenty even claimed a biker gang offered to extract revenge on Chris - but he declined, because he wanted to do it himself.

He added:

“It was a very difficult time for the whole family. Nobody wants to see their daughter hurt. I remember I had a phone call from one of her old security guards, he told me he and a biker gang were going to ride to Chris for revenge.”

Speaking from his home in Barbados, a 10-hour flight from Los Angeles where the domestic violence incident happened, Ronald admits:

“I was angry but it’s a long way to go, I wanted to go. I told them to give me a few days because I felt like doing it myself, you know? I was going to fly in, get picked up from LAX and ride to Chris’ place so I could do it myself.

When I called him the next day to arrange everything I cooled down and put a stop to it. She doesn’t know about this, she was going through enough.”

Brown pled guilty to felony assault and was slapped with a restraining order which Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Fenty, voluntarily removed as the pair later rekindled their relationship.

This week, the singer said she is single, adding: “I can’t even find the time to entertain a steady relationship or anything serious.”

HealthLadies And Abortion by DUBlog(op): 3:20pm On Feb 05, 2016
By: Esther Chiamaka Onyedinma

Thousands of women shared their stories of abortion on social media last month and it compelled others to talk about their own experience in a bid to end the stigma and misinformation that still surrounds the procedure. Even in countries where abortion has been legalised for decades, it often remains a controversial subject with those against the procedure giving moral, social, ethical and religious reasons.

The fact that even progressive, outspoken pro-choice feminists feel the pressure to keep abortion under wraps, to speak about them only in corners, in murmurs, in private with our close confidants, means that opponents get to define it however suits them best.

The truth is that life is unfathomably complex. Individuals with uterus own their bodies unconditionally and every abortion story is a unique as the person who lives in it. Some are traumatic, some are regretted and even some are good.

The decision to continue your pregnancy or to end it, is very personal. Each year clearly about 4.8million women or more have an abortion to end pregnancy which translates to over 4.8million lives of young and innocent unborn babies cut short.

The most common reasons, women consider abortion are:

1. Birth Control (Contraceptive) Failure: Over half of all women who have had an abortion used a contraceptive method during the month they became pregnant.

2. Inability to support and care for a child.

3. To end an unwanted pregnancy.

4. To prevent the birth of a child with birth defects or severe medical problems. Such defects are often unknown until routine second trimester tests are done.

5. Pregnancy resulting from rape or incest.

6. Physical or mental conditions that endangers the woman's health if the pregnancy is continued.

About 47% of women will have one or occasionally more abortions during their lifetime. Women centres and hospitals perform more than a million abortions every year. Abortions are obviously in great demand. But why?

Women have many reasons for not wanting to be pregnant and thus to seek an abortion many are related to.

1. Age: Most abortions are done on ladies under the ages of 25.

2. Marital Status: Most Women seeking abortion are unmarried, many others are separated from their spouse.

The vast majority (in excess of 90%) of abortions are sought for personal reasons.

** 21% feel they do not have financial to resources to bring up a child.

** 21% feel that they are not ready for the responsibility of raising a child.

** 16% feel that their lives would be changed too much. She might have a plan for her future (educational pursuit, developing a career, etc) that does not allow for having a child at the present time. She might be looking after an elderly parent and does not have sufficient time or energy to commit to a baby.

** 12% feel that her relationship with her partner is in difficulty.

** 11% feel that they are too young and are not sufficiently matured to become a mother.

** 9% is as a result of external factors which most times are immense pressure from her partner, family or society.

In 8% of the cases, her children are grown and she does not want to start another family or she has all the children that she wants.

Some of these reasons may be influenced by

** She feels she lacks the emotional and physical strength to go through another pregnancy and raise the child.

** She believes that raising an additional child would short-change her existing children.

** She is a student and or without a partner, she feels that raising a child would be too difficult and disruptive at her time of life.

About 6% of all abortions are sought because either the woman or foetus has medical reasons.

* Some girls become pregnant at a very young age when pregnancy can be dangerous.

** The foetus might have been hurt by exposure to high level of toxic chemicals, medications that might be harmful to the foetus, alcohol, drugs etc. They may cause the foetus to be genetically damaged.

** In the case of a mutiple pregnancy quintuplets, sextuplets etc some or all of the foetuses will end up with various long term health problems, some may not even survive. Physicians will sometimes recommend a selective reduction process where one or more foetus are killed in order for the remaining foetuses to be born normal.

About 1% of all abortions are sought because of abusive sexual act. While about 10-15,000 abortions (approximately 1%) annually are sought because the conception occurred after rape and the woman does not want to bear a child who was conceived in violence.

Abortion been good or bad is totally what your personal conviction or religious believe entails. As a child is a gift of inestimable value and deserves a right to live and be nurtured. Nevertheless some individuals personal reasons might outweigh the relevance of that "inestimable gift".

The body of Alice Kemunto Bundi, a 28 year old Kenyan woman was exhumed from her grave on January 27th, just a day after she was buried at her matrimonial home in Nyamatoki village.

According to NTV news, this was after her family complained that her husband had not completely paid her bride price and had no right to claim her corpse.

The family of the mother of four who was four months pregnant when she died, went to court and obtained an exhumation permit from the Kisii law court.

Her family members also argued that they were not informed by the husband on what killed their sister not were they carried along during her funeral arrangements.

The husband however provided a clinical report which states that his wife of six years died while trying to undergo an abortion.

Her in-laws confirmed that the dowry for late Alice had not been settled.
“We had given them [Bundi’s family] one cow and KES 5 000 cash($48), though they were asking for KES 20000($196),” said one of the in-laws in an interviewed.

CrimePhotos: Man With Stab Wounds Hours Before He Was Stabbed To Death By His by DUBlog(op): 7:15am On Feb 04, 2016
Yesterday, you read a story about a man who was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife at their home after a domestic dispute. The lady’s family claimed that she was found with a dislocated shoulder and swollen head following the fight between the couple. But friends of the late Oyelowo Oyediran say this is a lie, that the lady sustained no injury and was the primary aggressor.

This is Oyelowo, just a few hours before he was killed. He’d been stabbed in the shoulder a few hours before the second stab in the neck that led to his death.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment after this stabbing but when the couple returned home another quarrel started which led to his death.

This photo was taken in the dead of the night after he was stabbed the first time and his landlord had interfered and settled the quarrel only for him to be attacked again a few hours later… and this time it was fatal. His wife, a lawyer, is currently being held by police over his death.

The woman allegedly stabbed Oyelowo as he sleeping after he returned home from hospital.

CrimePhoto: Man Who Blackmailed MKO Abiola's Wife Of $5000, Confesses by DUBlog(op): 11:41am On Feb 01, 2016
A 26-year-old man, Caleb Nzube, who attempted to blackmail the wife of late Chief MKO Abiola of $5,000, was last week arrested in Anambra State.

Nzube allegedly hacked the Twitter handle of Mrs Tinu Abiola, downloaded her picture and designed a web page showing the woman carrying a human skull. He then threatened to expose the web page to the world if the woman does not pay $5,000.

Traumatised Mrs Abiola, it was learned, petitioned the Inspector General, Solomon Arase, who directed a combined team of the Inspector General Monitoring Team and the Intelligence Response Team to track down the suspect.

He was arrested when the operatives stormed his hideout in Obosi.

It was gathered that Mrs Abiola was not the suspect’s only victim, as a serving Senator and two others were also being harassed by him on the social media.

Speaking with Vanguard after his arrest, Caleb Elom Nzube agreed that he is an internet fraudster as he specialised in online dating before venturing into blackmailing thinking it
was more lucrative.

Disclosing he spent hours on the social media searching for prominent Nigerians, Nzube said his targets are mainly rich politicians, popular businessmen and socialite.

He said he goes after these set of people because he thinks they are usually sensitive to what is said about them in the public.

On how he got into trouble he said,

“I started following Mrs Timu Alade Abiola on Twitter and I got her pictures. I felt she was a good catch and I decided to blackmail her. I used Photoshop to make it look like she was carrying a human skull. I designed a web page with a little gossip story on it that she was caught for ritual.

I sent her the link and when she saw it I demanded she pays me $5000 or I will show it to the whole world. One of her friends came in and begged that I shouldn’t do it and that they were ready to pay me $ 2000. I rejected the
money, insisting that I must collect the amount I demanded.

Later they discovered I was Igbo and they gave my number to an Igbo girl who started talking to me and I accepted their offer, what got me angry was that while we were still talking, they sent a fishing link that destroyed my website which I have been maintaining for more than four years. That website had paid me little money I have used in sustaining myself.

I told the Igbo girl about it and that if I don’t get the money before the end of the week I will show the web page to the whole world. She asked for my account, I gave it to her but before I knew what was happening, the police came and arrested me.

I don’t understand why she has to bring in the police; I told the girl that what I needed was for her to tell her madam to just pay me for my website they destroyed. Infact I regret all this, if I had known it will be this messy I would have not ventured into this. What I do is only dating. I just wanted to try my luck on this one.” he lamented.”

CrimeWife And Son Arrested After Pastor Commits Suicide In Lagos by DUBlog(op): 10:47am On Feb 01, 2016
A 49-year-old pastor, identified only as Bassey, has reportedly slashed his throat after he was accused by his
church members of diverting funds for personal use. It was learnt that the incident happened last Monday around 5am on Abari Street in the Mulero, Dopemu area of Lagos.

Punch Metro gathered that the suicide was reported to the police at the Dopemu division, and policemen deposited his remains in a morgue, while his wife, called Iya Emmanuel,
and son, Emmanuel, were arrested in connection with the incident.

It was learnt that the pastor had written a short note, stating that his family was not complicit in his death.

A police source told our correspondent that preliminary investigation revealed that the pastor was frustrated after he was accused
by the church of diverting the undisclosed sum.

“The knife used by the pastor to kill himself has been recovered. He also wrote that he killed himself. We learnt that he was accused by his church of diverting money. He was probably frustrated because his neighbours
described him as a God-fearing and honest person. We are still trying to find out the actual amount involved,” the source said.

A neighbour, who identified herself as Seun Oladimeji, said the pastor had been awake in the night, walking around the passage. She said a note, which read, “I, myself, not my wife”, was found in the family’s room after his death.

“I don’t know whether he (pastor) did it because of the money issue, but he and his wife were very friendly. He
woke up around 3am that day. I learnt his wife and son, Emmanuel, later begged him to go back to bed. At about
5am, the woman screamed for help.

We all gathered in their room and saw blood gushing out of the pastor’s neck.
“Unknown to the woman, he hid a knife which he used to slash his throat. Before he died, he wrote on a piece of paper ‘I, myself, not my wife’.

I can say it anywhere that it was not his wife who killed him. The son was just crying; he was not himself. Both of them were arrested.”

Another resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the pastor and his wife had a good relationship with each other, adding that she did not believe his family members had a hand in his death.

He said, “Pastor helped his wife with her hair before the incident. They really loved each other. Most times, while the wife washed clothes, he would be spreading it on the line.”

Another resident, Mr. Olatunde Olasunbo, said the pastor moved to the area with his family two years ago.
“I did not know his church, but he was God-fearing and very nice. He was always with his bible. Even if he diverted the church funds, suicide is not the solution. He and his wife
related like siblings. They moved to this area two years ago,” he added.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident via a text message, adding that the case had been transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba.

“Case transferred to the SDCI for further investigation,” she stated in the text.

HealthPhoto: Mum Finds Missing Wedding Ring In Her Baby's Belly by DUBlog(op): 7:41am On Jan 31, 2016
A Reddit user - said his wife lost her ring and searched everywhere, but couldn't find it. She then decided to take their toddler to her GP ‘just in case’.

He didn't say how old the baby was. The GP X-rayed the child - and the lost wedding ring was clearly visible.

Reddit user I Am Clark Griswold (the father) said, ‘The reason the pediatrician suggested the x-ray was to ensure it wasn’t getting stuck anywhere it shouldn’t. Retrieving the ring wasn’t the concern.

‘He’s actually shown no signs of discomfort at all. ‘I’m certain his older brothers will be telling him about this for the rest of his life.’ ‘Now we dissect each diaper like 5th grade science class.’

In a follow-up post, the father revealed that the ring had reappeared after his son pooped without any prompting needed.

‘We can’t believe how quickly it passed, and it didn’t seem to cause him any pain on the way out. What a pooper.

‘There was barely any indication other than the familiar smell.

CelebritiesFemale Footballers Are Unjustly Labelled Lesbians — Uwak by DUBlog(op):
Cynthia Uwak is not one to hide her feelings over the ill-treatment of women footballers in Nigeria. Two-time African Women’s Player of the Year, Cynthia Uwak has addressed the issue of lesbianism in the female football world, saying it’s a general issue. Uwak who didn’t accept lesbianism happens in her field says, anyone could be lesbians and asked of people have been to secondary schools were it exists and she wonders if they will call the secondary school students who are lesbians footballers too. She also said those who think that way are one-way people and are indeed blinded to the truth. Below is what she said to Tana Aiyejina.

"How do you feel when women footballers are termed lesbians because of the way they look"?

I wouldn’t say football makes people masculine. There are lots of players you wouldn’t even know play football. I have a lot of friends who are tomboys but they don’t play football and they look masculine; like they are into sports. People jump into conclusions because they see you dressed this way. People’s mentality is different. There are a lot of the
players who wear make-up and dress feminine. I don’t like to wear make-up and that doesn’t mean it’s because I play football. Before I started playing football, I was a tomboy climbing trees and playing with boys. But these people are so blinded; they look at one side and don’t see the other side of the world. It’s not only women footballers who are like that; there are a lot of them out there who don’t do sports. I wouldn’t judge someone based on their looks or what they wear. It’s not my business to be concerned about another person’s personal life because that won’t put food on my table. If you go to boarding schools, they still say this
thing (lesbianism) exists. Does it mean these people play football?

"There is this impression that women footballers who move in twos are usually lesbians"......

There is freedom of speech and you can’t tell people what they should or should not say. Labelling people just because they are friends is not right. Have you caught them practice lesbianism? This thing happens and it’s not like it’s new. If you play for the Falcons, then your mentality should be different. You don’t dwell on such things; I don’t allow irrelevant issues affect me because what they say won’t stop me from where I’m going. It’s a mental thing and you just have to expect people to keep talking. The energy they use in labelling female footballers lesbians, if they use it well, it will add value to women’s football. But people would rather criticise you than try to build and lift you up. I don’t let what anybody say affect me. If you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks, you will never get to your destination. You can’t change the discrimination. Majority of these people, if they ask you out and you don’t accept, they jump into conclusion and start to cook up stories.

CrimePic: Man Arrested For Withdrawing N11m From Another Man's Bank Account In Enugu by DUBlog(op): 7:38am On Jan 23, 2016
Man Arrested for Withdrawing N11m from Another Man's Bank Account in Enugu Blames Poverty (Photo) A 56-year-old man, one Felix Onyebuchi, who is in police net in Enugu for allegedly using fraudulent means to withdraw the sum of N11m from the account of a bank customer, has blamed “lack” for his venture into crime.

Onyebuchi, a native of Osa-Ukwu, in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, but based in Lagos, was paraded alongside other criminals by the Enugu State Police Command.

Enugu State commissioner of police, Mr. NwodiboEkechukwu, disclosed that Onyebuchi was a member of a sophisticated syndicate that specialised in stealing and manipulating bank data.

According to the police chief, the syndicate usually applied to mobile telecommunication service providers to ‘welcome-back’ registered phone numbers that belong to their potential victims.

In the process, according to Ekechukwu, they block the real account owners and, through the phone numbers, get access to sensitive personal information, including bank data.

Once they obtain the relevant bank data, members of the syndicate are able to make withdrawals from their victims’ bank accounts, the commissioner of police added.

Ekechukwu further explained that Onyebuchi’s arrest followed complaints made by a Port-Harcourt-based customer of an old generation bank, who notified the police of a series of unauthorised withdrawals from his account.

The victim, whose identity was not disclosed, had informed the police that the withdrawals were made from the Enugu branch of his bank, which was also not named.

The police commissioner added that, following investigations, Onyebuchi was arrested while he was attempting to withdraw N50m from another potential victim’s account.

Onyebuchi is currently in police custody, as further investigation into his activities, and that of his syndicate, continues.

However, in a short encounter with journalists when he was paraded, the suspect said he ventured into crime because of “lack.”

But journalists observed that he did not look like somebody who lacked money.

Reacting to the newsmen’s observations, the alleged fraudster asked, “How can you tell who is lacking money from physical appearance?

“It is the state of the pocket that determines whether one is lacking, or not,” he added.

Onyebuchi also claimed that he did not steal money from any bank customer.

According to him, he was only caught in the process of
stealing.

“I was caught while attempting to take money from an account in UBA.

“I have not taken money from anybody, I was just about to take money when I was arrested,” he said.

Amaraizu said the suspect will be charged to court soon.
