Can we discuss - what is the full import of salvation? |
This is a really touching narration, Kevin. As Usherlan said already, the community is the main issue. If you were both outside Nigeria it might have been easier. . . As it is, this is a tough one. |
You are welcome, madam moderator. May we all continue to learn from one another and increase in wisdom and truth. |
Dear Mudley3, Nobody has all the answers so why not try and politely pass across your religious beliefs (or your irreligious beliefs about religion)? No good or lasting thing can ever come from any type of aggressiveness which ignores true peace. |
Image123 what I was trying to say is that it is only the heart of a human that can be correct, and not that the human heart is generally true and right. Religion is a mask, a cloak around the human heart. So a mask is never right or wrong but when a man wears a mask to rob a bank, its a crime. Another wears same mask to play with his kids, its love. I see you are a Christian so I will quote the Bible. You can read 1 Sam 16:7. |
I believe God's grace is available to everyone on earth but they must consciously desire it, align with it, and partake of it. It is like a buffet party: all you can eat. But an anorexic present at the party can still go hungry. God's grace wont force itself on you no matter who you are. You need to recognize it and get filled like its a buffet. This is why my answer remains: agreement/concordance between you and God. A demand and supply: economics of grace. |
^^^ I see. |
Ileke-idi, most of the social and ethical problems that churches have today is because of their spirit of competition. Pastors want themselves to be compared to other pastors as relevant men of God, so they each place heavy burdens on their churches to build an empire like Genghis Khan did. God does not want such empires. He is more interested in your heart and in that of those who you influence and interact with. Reading your OP, you appear to be a Christian. So I will quote from the Bible. Reflect deeply on these words of Jesus. Mat 6:2 is not only talking about alms, but general religious conduct. Mat 6:2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. Summary: A heart that is right with God is not meant to be flamboyant or showy in any manner. It is not meant to cause any person to envy and compete and compare their lifestyles and maybe strive to meet up. Contrast this with Mat 5:16 Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven. Think carefully about those two verses and the differences will jump out at you. Reflect deeply on these words of Paul. 1 Cor 9:18 describes the tendency to place financial burdens on the congregation 1Co 9:18 What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel. It is an abuse of power in the gospel to do so. Let people give freely to the ministry. If they don't, let God take care of his own business. In the quote below, Jesus explains that God will always take care of his business. He has not called people to strive on his behalf. That kind of fanaticism will only lead to wrongdoing. Mat 6:25 Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing?Jesus talks about food, drink and clothing but this can envelope all aspects of living. |

Ileke-IdI:You are very welcome. |
Jenwitemi, thanks for the explanationsIleke-IdI:I'm happy the post was useful, my friend. What is OASN? Q: How exactly do we then know which religion is correct? No religion is correct. The only thing that is correct is the heart of a human being. Q: How do we know we're worshiping the right God? There is only one right God. I think your question is: How do we know our hearts are right with this creator God? And that again is an individual answer. I think deep down inside, our conscience asides religion does a good job like a traffic light, indicating if God is pleased or displeased. However, just like people see traffic lights and they jump it anyway and might cause accidents, people can ignore their conscience and seem to get away with it. But the one who jumped a traffic light knows that he jumped it. Q: And are you saying atheism is not a religion in it's own right? I dont think Atheism is a religion because it denies the existence of that God. I do not know any atheist who has clearly told me that in his/her heart, his conscience tells him that God doesn't exist. Most often, it's somewhere between the brain (logically trying to analyze God and when you can't, he definitely doesnt exist. etc) and the emotions (if God exists, why did he allow this to happen? Why doesnt he do this? What if he does that? Why does so and so religion say so and so about him if he exists? etc). But maybe i'm wrong and there are atheists who dont hear God in their conscience. In that case, it's between them and God. With God, it's every life for itself! Otherwise I think it will be unfair. Please let me know if it's clear ![]() |

Congratulobia Ileke-Idi! |
lol E don BE today be that!! |
Ileke-IdI:This is the original God that everyone knows in their hearts but atheists deny. God is the one who is evident in nature if we choose not to deceive ourselves. I see religion as man's endeavour to (re)unite with purpose. Religion. Think of a man who dives into a body of water. Science says the water he displaces will have equal volume to his own volume / capacity, but we know the splash he makes will never be the same each time. Different splashes per person (and per dive too), and you cant predict how the shape of the splash will look. You can teach people how to dive into the water and create a splash i.e. the method but you can't teach someone the sensation experienced while cutting the water. You should not start creating learning centers explaining how to control the shapes of the splash you will create when you dive. Each religion is a different splash patterned after a previous diver, and everybody believes there is a right way to do it. However that's not what is important. What is important is the fact that you purposefully dived in and displaced water approximately equal to your own volume / inherent capacity. That is how religion is, and what obtains today. We spend so much time on the irrelevancies and studying the patterns of other people's splashes, taking time out daily and weekly to teach about how to dive and how to create so-so-and-so shape of a splash when you dive, when all that rather matters in your purpose is that you dive with all your heart and displace some water to the best of your ability. Eternal Teaching on Your Role in Religion, and on Judgment and Fulfilment of purpose: Do the best to your capacity with what God put inside you Matthew 25:14-30 "His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest. "'So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags. For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Don't be a fanatic, and be too shy or refuse to dive. Abandon all religions and rather focus on the true God and the revealed Truth of all Ages. Talk later, my friend. |
Tell her that the fact she is hiding her phone is disturbing to you, and it is making you reconsider the relationship unless she can give you good reasons why she should be so secretive 7 months to your wedding. Her response will tell you what to do. |
Ileke-IdI: Ileke-IdI:God. But it's probably not the God you know. Maybe I will open a thread on that sometime soon. |
