hyfr: ok, my questions are in regards to getting a scholarship in a U.S college. Either partly or fully funded scholarships. Actually i'm doing a research on colleges that provide exceptional finiancial aid to int'l students, aid of any kind be it, merit-based, need based or athletics scholatship. I've come across some institutions that offer merit based scholarships, most of them are not for international students, please can u suggest institutions that offer full ride or partly funded scholarship to int'l students. Secondly as someone with experience in this field, i wrote SAT but i scored around 1100, i'm preparing intensively to write another one around november, cos i'm in dire need of a scholarship , is it right to write the test before i apply to schools? I can't really help you with this cos I don't know much about undergraduate programs. I only know about engineering graduate programs |

I dont agree with this, one can always try his luck because I went to the interview after my school already resumed but all i need to do is to request for an extension letter from my school. I was previously denied so I got a new date and I was approved. First of all I said the probability is like 5% not 0%. Secondly I also said life is about trying. Thirdly you had an assistantship and you met a lenient VO, most VOs are not lenient and what if the VO wants to confirm his/her bank statement, where is the time? Fourthly I know someone who had an assistantship to Austin peay with 5k deficit and was denied twice for this reason. First interview was one day to resumption, second one was five days to resumption. I've also been a victim of this. Refusing to answer questions frankly and objectively on this forum is only going to make people pile up denial history which is not good. It's best to interview when your odds are high not low. 3 Likes |

Flaame: Dumbiri99 or whatever you call yourself, I almost ignored your silly quote but I decided not to ....if you wanted advice from people who have gone to the US or passed through POE, you never should have come to this trend. You would have searched somewhere else if there would be at all a category like that on NL. Tame yourself you freaking virago!!! It seems your ears are itching for a reply. It seems you want to trend. I read your posts and saw that you are younger than me so I won't give you a reply cos I'm not sure how thick your skin is yet. Your interview is close guy, focus on that and get me out of your head. You jumping on the bandwagon to quote me when you don't know what I'm talking about because you don't have the experience makes you look like a busybody. You not having traveled to the US is not an insult, I haven't either. |

A PhD is a research degree as such one has to have a knack for research. A PhD is hard to bag, thus you have to have a very very strong "why". Ever wondered why people commit suicide because of it? Even those who finished it just wanted the struggle to be over. Please and please don't do a PhD because of monetary reasons, do so because you are cut out for research. This book "PhD grind by Philip Guo" will help you better understand why. But many people doing ordinary BSc have also committed suicide this year in uniben and oau. Almost every Nigerian is doing this because they have to not because they want to. Just like a Nigerian sweeping the roads under the very hot sun in Abu Dhabi hundreds of miles away from home and dancing happily while doing it, if he had a choice he definitely would not do it. 1 Like |

Paradol and anti malaria is absolutely fine.... but with Everything , moderation is key. If you carry small quantity it is fine, the larger the quantity of medication the more the red flag and extra scrutiny. Be wise, we have advised you enough on this topic Alright thanks. charliejose: Hello guys, I am about applying for a VISA interview because my school recently issued my i-20 -I was awarded an assistantship really late - Though they were kind enough to provide me with my SEVİS number and school code. However, my school orientation is on the 20th, and school resumes on the 26th. Is it possible to request for an expedited date with the award letter and admission letter showing start date?
How long does it take to get a reply when one requests for an expedited date?
Currently, earliest date in Lagos is on the 30th of September, while in Abuja, it's on the 19th of August. Is it possible to change back to Lagos after picking Abuja should an earlier date pop up in Lagos, and is it possible for earlier dates to come up?
I look forward to your responses. Thank you.
Book abuja and try to get an expedited appointment, if it is rejected, I would advise you not to go for the interview cos the probability of being approved one day before your resumption date is like 5% so you can defer to spring but you can try if you want cos life is about trying. |

So let us analyze it. If you are taking anti-malarial drugs because you are about to leave a malaria-prone area that is fine, but how much do you need? You only need the dosage needed to combat the malaria once or at least twice. You are coming to the US where Malaria is not a thing.
Ok, what about paracetamol? You need it for fevers and pains. So let us say you will need it more than once or twice. How many times? You can have enough to last you for a year but remember that drug has an expiry date. So if you have 15 packs of paracetamol, how long are you prognosticating you will be taking it for bearing in mind it has an expiry date? 3 years?
As you can see, you are carrying too much of it that will raise flags that you have intentions to sell it when you get here. Nobody will listen to your justifications. That is the danger. I even suspect your friend that is asking you for this amount wants to sell it. So be wise.
I travelled with Panadol and Anti-malaria drugs so those are fine. Even your medications for HBP is fine. But the quantity is the issue. Did you put the medicines in your hand luggage or check-in luggage and were you asked any questions about them. |

Okay I mean prescription drugs not hard drugs. Prescription drugs that can't be gotten over the counter in the US but can be gotten over the counter in Nigeria. That's what I mean? |

no go enter one chance ooo........ what exactly do you need all that drug for , also hope it not for you . Think about your liver
Only take what absolutely necessary . if these are prescribed drugs then ok. if these are just caution or preventative drugs then maybe you dont need to have as much
regarding one way then check with other banks. Some banks agree for PTA with one way ticket . I not not fully sure of other ways to get currency other than finding a trustworthy black market exchanger Actually the drugs aren't mine, a friendly school mate wants me to help him buy and bring them along. But I don't want to have issues at POE with immigration, am I safe? |

MyAmericandream: Visa status: Approved(8:15am) on 24/07/19 Consulate: Lagos
Sex of VO: Male Window2 Scholarship: 40% Deficit: 24,657 Issued: 26/08/19 Me: Good morning sir, I passed my passport and i20 immediately. VO: Oh i20? V0: You're going for your masters degree? ME: Yes sir VO: Oh chemistry? ME: Yes sir VO:When did you graduate from school? ME: 2014 VO: So what have you been doing since then? I mean after you finished your undergraduate. ME: I have been working, but before that, I ensured I observe the national youth service corps. Currently I work with Iwobi Nigeria limited as a fertility chemist. VO: Is this company going to sponsor you? ME: Not at all sir V0: So how are you going to sponsor your trip? ME: I already have a dean scholarship, then my uncle will cover the rest.
VO:Shocked (when he heard the scholarship) He quickly glance through my i2o to verify, Ok! So what does your uncle do? He's a real estate consultant, a property professional. He buys, sells and market properties of every description from lands, luxury apartment, flats to estates and industrial complexes.
VO: Please can you tell me why you choose this school? Looking straight into my eyes. Me: The first and foremost factor for selecting this school was because of the amount quality research currently going on in the department which is closely similar to what I did in my undergraduate studies. I want to learn more and be part of the research group, the aim of this research is to synthesize marine natural product and their analogues for the design of drug molecules like antibacteria and anticancer chemoterapeutc agent. I'm already in touch with Professor Pier Cirillo and he's willing to absorb into his research group. Besides this, I will have access to the latest technology provided by bergami learning center for science, innovation and technology were ground breaking innovations in chemistry are carried out, innovations like design of drugs to eradicate leukemia completely, you know leukemia is a very deadly diseases? And another one again is to cultivate plant using hydroponic technology, most of the chief ingredients used in the pharmaceutical companies are derived from plants, this time around I will be learning how cultivate plants in water rather than soil. I'll also learn how to convert dead plants, waste materials into biofuels, you know our crude oil is drying up gradually? So I'll be bringing this into the gas and oil sector. VO: Tired of listening and looked straight into his system. ME: I'll not keep my mouth shut, after all I talk very fast(In my mind). And again the courses the faculty provides is different from the usual traditional masters program, were bioinformatics, computational modelling, biomedical polymers are not incorporated into the core curriculum, this program is a very dynamic one, it integrates different discipline to make a curriculum. VO: Focused his eyes again at me, perhaps, enjoying what I was saying. ME: I never finish oh, the school uses the tegrity learning approach as well, were I can always download audio and video after class for review. VO: So what are your plans after this degree? Me: After I must have gathered enough skills required to accelerate my career. I intend to return to the country and apply as a quality control specialist in a pharmaceutical firm ,food and beverage domain, Regulatory agency. I might report or resume (I can't figure out what I said here.)at association of, oh sorry, Nigerian bottling company were I interned as a lab analyst. As a matter of fact their is shortage of man power in quality control, because a bulk of the current labour force lacks knowedge in cut VO: I'm approving your visa, he threw my 120 and white paper at me, my passport went straight to the tray. ME: looking at the passport in the tray, Was still in awe, Is that all sir? VO: Yeah ME: That was how I picked race, I couldn't even locate the exit. Thank you Jesus, coz you kept to your word. I wouldn't have gotten this with out your hand. Thanks fairheart, bracelum, time2win and elhadji19 for vetting my transcript thoughrougly. I am grateful! Thanks to everyone of you that has contributed in one way or the other in this forum. May God continue to strengthen you. Shalom! Confam. I love your transcript. This is how to collect your visa with fire and with force. Just that some VOs are evil, they will just cut one short when you are trying to make sense. 2 Likes |
