Dear friends, 40Kg was stated on the mail i got from IOM before making payment for my tickets, when the ticket was sent to me, i see 2 baggage pieces written on it ( which equals 23X2 = 46kg).

No worries Alphadoor, with your level of activeness and awareness you would get to the ticket stage in no time.

Cheers

Alphadoor:

oh now i get...

i believe the 40 KG was given to dunsinogundele to just put things under the threshold... cos 23kg x 2 = 46KG... ALAS the genesis of the 40KG brouhaha grin grin grin

Baba God, please i want to be in the TICKET stage too ooo..... grin grin grin grin

Dear Bellong and other Gurus, I have another set of questions:

1. IOM stated that 40Kg baggage allowance is allowed for each adult and children, is this separate from hand luggage that can been put in the luggage compartment of the plane.

2. Does the 40Kg mean one bag or weight can be split into two.

3. Has anyone been successful with getting PTA from the bank using one way relocation flight ticket and PR visa or is this restricted to return trips alone.

Sorry I'm asking a lot of questions but I no wan miss road as my journey don near

Thanks in advance.

Please i want to confirm the passport renewal process to take a final decision. If I start the process now, do I need to drop my current passport with immigration through out the renewal process and if I do not need to drop it, would I still be able to travel with it even after i have started the renewal process and new one not ready.

I am thinking of getting it sent to me via DHL when ready and am already in Australia.

quote author=bellong post=54533441]

Why not check States like Kwara or Osun where demands are not as high as in Lagos?

For renewal in Australia, you will have to travel to Canberra to get it done. Sometimes Nigerian association in each state organises group renewal by bringing them over to your stats for.a fee.

This is the embassy website....

IOM charged me N1,071,000 for 2 adults, 1 Kid and 1 infant. You could get a cheaper price now because of the slight improvement in exchange rate

Is the allowable travel amount of 10,000 suppose to be in USD or AUD?

Thanks.

bolaobby:

Let me answer your question tp the best of my knowledge.

1. You don't need to contact them for that, most airline opens their online check-in 24hrs to departure. Go to their site and do an online check-in. You will be able to select where you want to sit in the sitting arrangement section.

2. You can renew your passport when it is 6 month to expiration legally. Kindly do that before your departure.

3. Australia allows you to travel with 10,000AUD or its equivalent for someone 18yrs and above. If the entire family have more than 10k, divide it among yourself because the money should not be carried by one person for all. The rule is 10k per head.

Please, how much did IOM get the flight for you and their any infant or 2 adults and 2 children.

Dear Bellong, unfortunately I have no choice now than to come and renew when I get to SA, their is current scarcity of booklet in Nigeria now and I would not want to be stranded due to delayed renewal.

Please what is the process of renewing in Australia?
Thanks.
@dunsinogundele,

Bolaobby has provided answers to your question.

The only addition is when you renew your passport, contactl DIBP immediately so the visa can be transferred to the new passport.

Renewing passport here is stressful.

Thanks a lot for the response, I have contacted Emirates customer care and they arranged for our seats to be together for free, I guess this is part of their company policy to arrange family seat together, they even arrange bassinet for my infant.

I think I would have no choice than to travel with my about to expire passport and go throgh the stress of renewing in australia.I called an agent and he confirmed booklet scarcity and he can't guarantee me getting it even in 3 months. It's better safe than sorry.

I appreciate your contribution.

ote author=jukeblam post=54531511]

In addition, know that there is a charge (CHF 25) per seat selection based on these class of tickets purchased through IOM (economy special, I believe). However, Emirates usually try to seat families with kids together.

With the current scarcity of Nigerian passports at Immigration offices nationwide, I'd suggest you contact Emirates and re-confirm that you can travel with this almost-expired passport (as it's a PR visa not short-term)- the travel requirement states "a passport valid on arrival''. This is so you don't start the passport renewal process and it isn't complete before your travel date, leaving you in a quagmire- whereas your travel could have been done with the almost expired passport.
Dear Bellong and other Gurus, please I need clarification on the following questions;

1. I secured my flight to Aussie for mid April with IOM and they booked emirate for me and my family. Do we need to contact Emirate so we would be guaranteed sitting together on the flight?

2. Is it possible to renew my passport before expiration?, I am traveling next month and pasport would expire in May.

3. What amount of cash are we allowed to travel with, considering we are a family of 4?

Thanks.

Dear friends,

I have finally made payment for my flight to Adel aide but I have question, IOM mentioned in their mail that what they gave me is an "estimated quite", so does it mean they would refund me if final amount is less than what I paid?

My experience is full time in a multinational coy, they say because my first degree is not highly relevant to nominated occupation, so they started counting experience from when I got my MBA, this made me lose 5 points on EOI and pushed me to 190 instead of 189. If I have not submitted my MBA, may be I would have gotten a negative outcome or my experience would still be reduced

Congrats o. I salute your courage and persistence especially with the English test.

Meanwhile, I am marveled by the CUTS almighty VETASSES gave you sha. Ah han! From 7 years experience to 3.8. Was there any specific explanation for this? Is your experience in a part time job or contracts?

Now, seeing this testimony now, I am more than encouraged to fight on, knowing fully well that quitters never win.

Sorry I meant, i got my visa on the 16th Nigeria date and 17th Australia date, LANDED in the sentence meant to sat I got my grant mail delivered to me.

For SA, you have to apply to the state separately on their site and pay AUD200, this in addition to your EOI. I am not sure if its same for NSW

bolaobby:

Congratulations!! Thanks for the post, its actually a moral booster.

Can you clarify the issue of Direct Grant of 17th January...You landed on 16th January...that is before the grant.

Secondly, what do you mean by state application because i also just put in for this visa for NSW with 70pts and i only filled EOI in nominated occupation Computer Network and System Engineer.

1. How much does the medical & PCC cost?

My Naija PCC cost #10k.. I Don't know the cost of medicals in naija at the moment..

2. How long does it take to get medical result outcome?
If its an eMedical centre, they'll submit it to DIBP within 7 - 10 days.. Mine took 6, and weekend dey inside.

3. What docs would the hospital and police need from me?
Hospital requires your eMedical referral letter with the HAP ID, A valid international passport, and a passport photograph... A polio certificate might also be required but its not compulsory

4. What hospital conduct the medical and where do I get PCC

You'll need to check the DIBP eMedical website to see the closest hospital to you... As for PCC, any major police headquarters near you should be good enough... Mine was from Iyaganku, Ibadan for example.

Thanks a lot. I have created immaccount and also printed referral letter with HAP ID. How do I schedule an appointment with the medical center?

Thanks
