For one you know that title is simply click bait, and after receiving a work that I wouldn't sell for 1naira from a guy who feels it should worth nothing less than 5naira, I was greatly angered!

I feel shortchanged that some people who aren't halfway up to my skill level are seeking higher while those that knows how to aim higher are hiding the knowledge then come around to do what I regard as “mocking”.

There's no need telling a man who's down that he is down, he knows that already! Maybe try telling him how to get up

If you feel hurt with the term greedy, how do you think calling someone’s earnings “peanuts”? All fingers are not equal and some people will inadvertently be placed by nature to work twice as hard as others, it’s not a curse!

But your discouraging words are what keep many people like me from taking the only available offer because we keep dreaming of that “oil job”.

Imagine a shelf worker shaming a fuel attendant for his pay, Just because they are the same age. Do you think if the fuel attendant had the same opportunity as the other guy, he wouldn't achieve even better?

I for one, don't have an immediate grass to grace story and I'm just trying to encourage someone with slow progress like me, that it's okay too

Y’all create this fast lane and set in stone rule that makes people who can't keep up feel worthless. How about instead of bragging how much you are paid, you share tips on how you secured such pay?

Y’all always have one niece or nephew with mind blowing rate, how about you shut it? If we can't get it, why should we stress ourselves aiming??

Y’all claim to ignore the fact that many big gigs go to relatives and already known acquaintances. No big company is coming to Nairaland to source for their content creator.

So until we dig up our 1talent and trade with it till we match up to those the master gave 3 and 5, we'll forever be in the dark.

First of all, no one is saying you can’t earn 300naira/per word in Nigeria. What I’m saying is those opportunities are 1 in a million!

If by any means the cooperation hiring can afford to pay their writers 1000naira/per word, they definitely should! But you have to remember we also have budding bloggers, with blogs that turn in little to no revenue yet, so why do you think they can afford that??

There’s a reason why the tomatoes sold for 500 in your local market can go for 1,500 in shoprite, it’s not a different product but a different audience!

And by any means I’m not seeking an A1 academic writing, in fact i want a work that’s already on the net, i just need a little creative touch here and there!

If the pay is beneath you, cool! But don’t come here making it extra difficult for others to carve an honest niche for themselves with your high set standards.

I'm a budding writer. I recently got a gig writing social media and website content. The client asked how much I charge and I mentioned 20/words based on online research I carried out.

Your post is making me have a rethink, however.

I also got a memoir writing job to be turned over in a month. Do you have any idea what is appropriate to charge or the best arrangement to make?

Your advice will be highly appreciated.

I think this post is long overdue and I’m fully prepared to counter y’all emotional reactions with pure facts.

I see lots of threads advising writers to not accept “peanuts” for their work. Some of this people go ahead to brag how they are paid 100s of thousands for their work, and unfortunately they mislead a lot of budding writers, ending their career even before they start.

Firstly, do y’all bother to ask how long those collecting that huge pay has been working for? All of this people have years and years of writing experience under their belt, so of course their work attracts better pay. And if you check well this people started off with 1naira or even less. I for one did!

I see some amateur writers who think writing articles is all about changing a few words in the post they outrightly copied from google just to beat the plagiarism checker

Lol! I really pity the impatient and greedy folks who wants to be paid 10naira per word from the start. My brother/sister, you go old!!

Everyone are being advised to seek international gigs, but are they easy to come by? Especially for people with zero experience. In fact, many of those claiming they are paid higher, do so to reduce the labor force so they can have all the rejected 1.5 gigs to themselves, lol.

I currently have one greedy folk on my hands who believes 1.3per word is too small to do a good job, lol! So how will I be encouraged to pay you 5naira per word?

Y’all don’t want to start from the grassroots and because of that, you can never succeed as a writer; at least not in Nigeria.

God forbid I pay a writer I’m unsure of their skill higher than 1.5naira, take it or leave it. Y’all want to make 1million naira per month, I would advise you to try yahuu or richtuals!

A 1.5naira gig can pay you 150k monthly if you can complete 5000words every day fr 20days. Please I ask, which job in Nigeria currently pays up to that amount for the entire month?

Y’all have been shortsighted by greed and its disgusting to say the least. Keep searching for that million-dollar job, while your mates make a sustainable income while gathering experience and making connections that inherently gets them a better pay.

Good day...just to point out... premium Grammarly check does not require a laptop...you can do that with a smartphone...it just requires that your change you browser settings to desktop mode and you are good...cheers
