FahBuLous:Before I go on to explain you must realise that the Bible is a storybook and you cannot take things out of context and conclude. There is a verse leading up to this and one leading away. Until you accept that fact you will keep misreading the Bible. Prior to this verse the entire chapter 25 was all about parables of people who had opportunities and how they used or misused it. It began with the parable of the Ten Virgins and moved on to the parable of the three servants. The teaching on the parable was simply to use what you have and God will see that effort and give you more. However for those who don't have or who have little and decide that until the have more they won't make an effort they will remain in that same position. The parable was never about money but about gifts and blessings God can give. It focused on being prepared for opportunities maybe even over prepared like the 5 wise Virgins who may never have guessed the bride groom will arrive late but still had a spare can of oil just in case. It also focuses on those who do not complain that they don't have this or that to make them great but use whatever they have and double it like the servant given 5 or 2 thousand gold coins. If you read the end of chapter 25 that is verse 31 to 46 you see the point Jesus tries to make. Use what you have for the good of heaven do not wait to be a prophetess before you help people around you. Do not wait till you have millions before you feed those around you. Because what ever you do to the least of your brothers no matter how little out of what you have been given, that you do unto him. I say this finally to all Christians stop taking the Bible out of context. It is a story a journey, you cannot just go and pluck from the middle and call things black. What led to that passage and what led away from that passage? What is the history behind the reason for that choice? The Bible is a story of God and his people Israel, as Christians we have taken that story as ours and fixed ourselves into it. That does not change that it has a progression. There is always a reason for everything in the Bible and the moment you begin reading from start to finish and understanding the journey the less confusing Christianity will be for you. |
Wrecxman:Just had to mention. 7 years ago OP was 12 and probably didn't even know the word cryptocurrency. So... |
Tobedated:Rather than invest in one or two if the above ideas, y don't u try stocks. Foreign stocks I mean. Google arm investment or any other investment site and see how you can diversify your portfolio I'm a low risk manner |
Lorex6:Just my opinion. You are young and the future is bright. So I'd usually suggest this. If you have money saved up, then look for a way to set up a shop near ur school maybe for the weekend or something. Stick to the skill u know now, that's barbing. As much as crypto and forex can bring in money, it's very much like stocks and it's a 50-50 chance. The question u should be asking is do u want to risk it? Two the idea of dropping school is something u will regret in 10 years time. Trust me I've seen things. Go to school, process a masters scholarship from here and travel overseas. Remote work is the heart of the future and Africa is the target market for cheap labour. That being said for no reason should u skip school. Finally look around and count 30 reach people in and out of Nigeria. Ask yourself why are they rich? How are they rich? Every billionaire today, is a man who offered product and services and made it into a business. Rather than drop barbing think to own your own saloon. Forex can make u rich, skill will make you rich, but the wealthy of this world are those who turned their skills, products, and services to a full blown business. Open your eyes and do not be deceived by the gitz and glam of chum change. Focus on a goal. U have learnt a skill, make it a business. But sha what do I know. Above all, pray before anything else, cause on man's path to success is another man's path to failure. Let God guide you. |
Hello Nairaland, I'm trying to put together a project and for now I'm hoping to do a survey of skills and their costs. So anyone with information can reply. It will be much appreciated. Straight to the point. I'm looking to create a comic series. Are there comic creators in nigeria? What tools do they generally use? Or better what tools are best used in terms of software and hardware? How much would it cost to hire per 30 pages of comic? Or would it be better on a monthly pay? Or could I just do a contract of a seasons worth of comic? Simply what's the payment mode and what's the general pricing like? How long will it take to create 30 pages of comic? Replies will be much appreciated. Thanks |

Why am I not into fraud? That's a good question I think my answer should be because I trust in the time and plan God has for me. I get the country is hard, and people can be mean, but think about these two point. If it was the other way round, and you had the money and ended up being scammed, how would you feel. I tend to always look at things from various angles and for me, it will hurt badly if I trusted someone and they turned out to be a scam. I mean I dont trust easily, but if I do, i expect the same. Secondly, at the end, what else is there beyond ' make I hamma, so I fit chase girls, buy car, blow money for club, and build house. Okay, end that cycle of things and all you see is emptiness. I once heard someone say he joined because he wanted people in his house to respect him, and another said its because he wanted to be the richest person in his community. And my answer to that is what a pity. When you entire purpose in life revolves around other people liking or respecting you. You see one thing i have learnt, most genuine rich people, most, not all, made their money in their late 40s. Look at the Bible, Moses was like 80 when God called him. Pretty much anyone who made a statement in the Bible was an old man. Very few young people were called and made rich, and if you check well, the money was inherited. Think about this, if you are destined to live till 90 and you make all your money, and you do everything you want to in your life by 30, what else are you doing with the remaining 60 years. What people don't realize is, life is a balance. There are exceptions, but look around you, read the story of rich men, great men and such. Those who were quick to make success. those who had everything fall in place for them, those who got fame, glory, respect, and power early, don't make it past their 60s. Last year I wrote a book for a client, and we explore over a hundred great men in the last 400 years and I was shocked to see that those who made it quickly, died early. However those who had it bad in their early days and found themselves and some stability in their 30s, 40s, 50, all lived till 80 plus. Like I said there were exceptions, but I have come to realize that it's a principle of life. So to most people, I tell them calm down, all you need to ask for is health and life, and then do your best. Fraud or any other evil, will give you the money and glory you need now, but my dear, you could just be shortening your lifespan. As long as you build yourself and get on your knees each day in prayer, even bubu's government cannot harm you. I know many people who had no job, but during the pandemic lived like kings cause someone, somewhere remembered them. Especially to the youths, calm down. And see, Ehen even those Yahoo boys, they don't even look like they are seeing money. If you place them and place some normal working person, planning his life, that person will still look richer than them. In the end, it's not by getting money now now, but how long will you live to eat that money. |
Qpid5:Please leave that second hand thing. In the long run it's a nightmare. Get Samsung or Nokia they have stamina for everything and at this point you need that. Good luck. |
Qpid5:My dear leave crypto. Its like stock nd trust me if you don't have enough money, experience, patience, and a high risk tolerance, you are not making it. Another advice I wanted to give, don't just look for any android phone. Whatever you have saved for getting a phone, get a good one. Writing is intensive and your phone will feel the workload in no time. Consider getting a new phone preferably not techno. Nokia, Samsung, infinix, huwawi, and such are more rugged and can last long. I'm saying this cause I began with a techno phone and hated it, it heated up and would lag a lot. Invest in a good phone, that way you can have a better experience. |
Zaxbash1:The dude is looking for someone to get him a phone and oga u r charging non negotiable training fee of 110k. Let him start with what he can start with. Besides crypto isn't for everyone not everyone can succeed through it. |
Fantazy:My dear, at this point, anything is worth going into in comparison to that job you have. Its sad that you are being paid so little, Try Uber or bolt. The pay isn't fantastic anymore at least not like the old days, but I still know a lot of people who make 30k per week. That's a big step up to your present position. Another option is to take this international teaching certificate. I forgot the name. It cost about 100k but if you pass it, you can apply to teach overseas. The pay there is a lot better than you can imagine. Take your time to research, pray, and consider your options, health, stamina, and goals, and then choose. Good luck sha, and I hope that God sets your path in pleasant places. |
Qpid5:Yeah, just start small. Hopefully someone here would be of help to you. But begin first then worry about other things later. Good luck. |
Ay92:It's saddening to see young people be enslaved for their hardwork. Look ill be honest with you, you are better off outside the school. You are being ripped off so badly. I'm not sure how the okay thing works but you can even become a dispatch rider. I've said this before Nigerians are horrible. Who pays 12k to a secondary school teacher for God's sake. Look if you want a bit of financial advice reach out to me. I think it's high time I start a tread about personal finance and self development. My advice is simple join the transport business. It's a lot more gainful and you have more freedom and more chances for success. Above all don't rush to anything without praying and weighing in on your options. Identify you health and stamina and your financial capacity to survive for a week even if you don't begin making money through bike. But I believe that you will make more riding a bike no matter what. |
ambr055i:Here is my opinon Business is good o, But na battle. The juju and the competition and the negativity and the Nigeria itself, if you dont have a good grounding and a lot of perseverance, the business will crash finish. Learning a skill takes time and it's not a today job. It's good but it will take time to gain the necessary experience and expertise. Travelling overseas is fantastic but you are not financially in the best place except you are looking towards a scholarship. That's fine. My advice. If you are staying in Nigeria, stay put in your uncle's place, woman should not be your issue now, except of course the woman is financial okay and she is willing to support you if you guys choose to move out together. Otherwise house rent is no joke and cost of everything in Nigeria is a nightmare even when two hands are working together. Going overseas is great but my dear in the words of my sister who came back from overseas cause of the pandemic, the number of Nigerians overseas begging is overwhelming. I dont know why everyone chooses USA and Canada. They have a lot of issues and it's going to pull you. UK sef is better, but I always recommend Europe preferably countries where English is not their first language. If you get the certificate they do here in Nigeria for foreign English teaching ... sorry I forgot the right name. If you get the certificate you can make it well in non English speaking countries. For one I know countries in Asia pay well for English teachers. The government offers tons of incentives and such and since you have teaching experience it will be easy to adjust. Most times you dont even need to learn their language immediately, I know china will first assign you to younger children and you will have a Chinese teacher to assist you in translation and such while you master their language. This is a good option incase ur degree stuff doesn't pan out as planned. Anyway finally just sha pray and let God guide you. In the end he knows best. Good luck and I hope you can set your life right before you turn 35. |
TYglobal:So maybe my input won't be very useful to you, but I thought of a few points. I understand that you like fashion designing and engineering and such, but at this point they are not very useful to you. Warren Buffet once said, do what you don't like now, so you can do what you like in future. ....I'm paraphrasing here. In simple words, dont focus your energy on engineering jobs only. Nigeria is a confused market and I know someone who studied agriculture but ended up in the finance world. What I mean is expand your search, Look above and beyond your skills set. I say this because your primary need now is income. Programming is fantastic but its a long term income not a short term plan. You need a short term plan. A plan for now. So try other options, recruitments and such. Now, I will say this o but don't vex, I know its slightly unrealistic, but you never know where your luck will take you. Try UCAS. It's a site for foreign education. See my chain of reasoning. A few years ago I tried everything to leave the country to study. I actually found a lot of promising options, but they either needed a degree or A level and I wasn't lucky enough. UCAS will link you to universities and scholarships and several of these scholarships give stipends and student work permits. It is really a great option and I know three friends who got lucky to go to various schools in Europe with it. What I am saying is, if you get another degree or masters, you can find a job within your field overseas or even here in Nigeria, cause Nigerians like foreign certificate like nothing. Note that you will need to focus on European or Asian countries. There are a few UK schools. But USA and Canada is not very promising through UCAS. Now my third option is remote jobs. Like I said I have tried many routes and my greatest obstacle is no degree. There are several Indian, Malaysian, Arabic countries looking for Africans with a degree and zeal to do jobs well outside your course of study but are within a general field like marketing and such. They pay favorably and it can be a good income for you. I can recommend indeed, there is another I used a lot in the past but the name isn't coming to mind at this point. But just research remote job boards and dabble around. You can also apply there and see what luck has for you. Above all, I like to always advice to go to God for help. You will be shocked how well he works. Tell him your needs and do your best, life is a tussle on its own and you need God big time is you want to survive. Sha I wish you good luck and I hope your mom stays strong to reap the fruit of her effort. |
Hobbshaw:Hello, So I don't know how serious you are about your situation now but here is my two pence. Note that this is my opinion so you don't have to take it in. I am female and 22 currently with zero degree and no present option to also go back to school. Unlike you I live with my parents now and I sort of have some form of support, but I am still a major contributor back home, so i know the pressure. First off, get a job. Now I would say try freelancing but if you don't have a skill like writing or some tech or digital skill, trust me freelancing will be a nightmare. So get a full time job. Why? Because you need to survive first. Having no money or source of income is not a good idea here in Lagos. Get something doing but realize its a means to an end not an end in itself. I advice looking for jobs in field that interest you. No matter how small. I liked kids and teaching so my first job 5 years ago was at a nursery school I got 20k then. it kept me going while I learned a skilled. Next I would advice you go for Coursera. Its a great source of skill and if you are lucky with your application for financial aid, you can get a course for free and earn the certification. It is quite recognized and you can use it in the long run. My advice pick a tech skill, it's the next big thing. Coursera courses run for about 8 week on average. My recommendation is to look for specializations rather than courses. they are more intensive and cover a broader topic which you need. The courses are flexible and you can study using your mobile. I am a writer now, I work from home, I make good money and bla bla bla. But its about planning and determination. Set your goal first and you will be shocked also do your best. But these are not what I wanted to tell you. It's okay to be confused at this stage, particularly when your parents are not buoyant enough to help you. I see many people saying 'go back to your parents and have them advice you and have them help you financially... 'But if you are anything like my situation, where my parents although great people where also confused financially and in what next they could offer their kids, going back to them is pointless. You are in Lagos and you are young. You also have a bright future ahead of you. Do not be swayed by the luxury you see in Lagos, stay focused on building yourself first. 21 is a bright age and you can immerse yourself in so many great skills and paths. This is your time to make or break your entire future. I learned this early, I dont know how much you like reading, but I encourage you to explore the lives of great men. The key point I have learned from them is, Take advantage of your youth to build yourself. By the time you turn 30 you have way to many responsibilities to build yourself anymore. Leave relationships, luxury and such and build yourself. In the end this is your journey not your parents, not your friends, but yours. Above all ehen, and maybe I am too religious, but in this life if you want to succeed, get on your knees and realize who is boss in your life. The road will be tough o even with God, but trust me it will be worse without him. If I tell you my story even in this my small 22 years, you will calm down. Find God and strike a deal with him. Give him a ten year goal, make a personal sacrifice to him, and watch and see how well he plans. I tell everyone I know now, I dont know how I got to where I am today, I dont know how I will get to where I want to be tomorrow, but sha I have a leader and all I know is to follow. Anyway, good luck and I hope you make the right choice. |

PatrickOkunima:Bad English is an issue yes, but again I still stand on the principle of experience. I've been writing for 3 years and I hardly take things like business letters, proposals and such. It's just not my thing. Another point you may want to consider is hiring a full time writer rather than a freelancer. What I mean os a coporate writer might be more versatile. Let's be frank most writers here are blog writers. A few are content writers. If you need some with more versatility hire a permanent writer with a fixed rate with clear details that they will serve more like a company writer than a blog writer. In terms of finding Kenyan writers u can see some through upwork and freelancer. I found some once on seoclerk. I think there are more sites but none is coming to mind at this point. Goodluck anyway. |
PatrickOkunima:Your reply here shows you are not well knowledgeable in writing. A good write is one with specialization. A jack of all trade is a master of none. If you want a good writer find those with experience in your niche. The issue is you want a master of all and that will consistently lead you to poor quality. Also note that to find those with specialization you must be willing to pay. Nd I mean well over 3 or 4 naira per word. Specialists know their worth and won't even border applying to a low pay. I've met many excellent writers here and have worked with a number of them but they demand food pay and time. No writer with experience will tell you they will write 4 or 5 k words a day. That's what amatures will say. You want quality? Give time and give good pay. At least that's what foreign clients pay and good writers want that and are maybe even getting that already so anything less is a no way. To answer your request, consider indian or Kenyan or Zimbabwean writers they still take really low pay and some a fairly good. |
Ikillbrokehoes:I know that's why I made this post. I have worked remotely for 3 plus years and this is the first time its happening. I just want to state the experience. |
Ikillbrokehoes:I dont. It is my first time working for him. But even if I had his account number what could I do with it. |
Mr. Hustleo please pay me my money. I am not the kind of person you can scam and go scot free. Your name will trend across Nigeria as a scammer. That I can promise you. From Newspapers to social media handles. You will not rest. |
In July I came across an ebook opening and applied for it. The client gave me a task and gave me an unreasonable 7 day deadline to finish up. I didn't complain since it looked like a long term thing and first impression matters. He promised a 24 hour pay and so it was reasonable enough for me. I sent in the job on the last day of July and expected my pay by 1st of August. He claimed the client wasn't online and so to wait one more day. One more day turned to 3 weeks more. On the 21st of August the end of the 3 weeks I asked him for my pay and what he sent to me was an unconvincing screen shot that the client claims he was exhausted from a days work and would reply him the next day. Since then, I have gotten no word from him. I tried calling normally and his line is never going through. Through WhatsApp his line rings but he never picks. I explained to him to pick up so we can sort this out but no way. Now after more than a month of working for him and consistently begging to be paid, he has blocked me. All I need is for his name and number to go viral and for him to remain branded as a scam. You dont owe someone working for you for the first time for 1 month after demanding excellence. His line 09156034391 |
DashingRush:No offence but I just had to point out something. I've been both client and employer so from experience even good writers don't want monthly pay especially since this is a writing, remote, freelance job. You Should take into consideration their fear of being duped, or treated poorly. Beside most freelancers and really most writers here on Nairaland are looking to survive daily, monthly pay is a no no for them. I will never be comfortable with monthly pay I've had at least 3 bad experiences with that. So I could subjectively say that only bad clients pay monthly, and could again subjectively say that only good clients pay instantly, that's my experience. Nd ur point with Fiverr and upwork nd such, at least u know ur money is with u, its just to cash out. One final point and possibly the reason I took time to write this at nearly 2:30am is, big agencies like yours should take into consideration freelancers. If you have that much clientel and workload u should have a lot of saved up profit, use that to give bi weekly payment to ur workers. At least pay for job's already approved rather than keeping them till month end. Remember that ever man is hustling here and they all have needs and family expectations. Again just my opinion and of course one man's meat is another man's poison. Anyway good luck with finding workers. Cheers. |
