I understand the frustrations we are all going through ( I mean, I'm in similar shoe). But I think that saying the scholarship is punishment is not entirely fair to the scheme. Agreed, we're facing a really tough time. It doesn't help when we interact with PTDF, TETSFUND, Commonwealth and Chevening scholars. But truth remains that for those of us who desired quality education to break the barriers set by our Nigerian degrees, this is indeed an opportunity. The schools will only send threatening emails, but they won't shut you out. they'll charge u extras for falling short on your accomodation fee installments, but they won't throw you out on the streets. It's actually kinda tougher for those in private accomodations as landlords might not smile ( mortgage calls). But most landlords understand if u explain to them. What u should do is get a job. If u work ur full 20hrs, u should have more than enough to pay your rent and something left to feed with ( even if you're paid minimum wage). If you're having difficulties getting a job, look at ur CV again and remove anything that might over-qualify u for the role for which you're applying. I really hope this helps someone. I have to go now, this term is so crazy choked!!! 3 Likes 1 Share |

Well.... just in case you ported your sim like most of us did because of the craziness associated with re-registration at mtn centres, then you may want to call Gideon and be sure about things. I ported my mtn sim to glo and considering that bulk SMSes don't deliver to ported sims, I made that call and found that I'm actually on the list. This is not in anyway intended to raise false hopes; I'm sharing because I genuinely believe some one might benefit. Congratulations to those who were successful. To those who weren't, I feel your pain. I know the exact feeling I had when I opened this thread and found that people had received SMSes but I had not. In those times, I consoled myself that other opportunities would always come. Moving on can be tough, but having something to look forward to makes it easier. I know that PTDF which has an even better package is out, common wealth and also chevening. A guy posted a link here for scholarships in Australia. Focus on these along with some self-development schemes and you just might find that not having your name on that list was in some weird way, a blessing in disguise. Stay blessed!! 1 Like |

congratulations to all those who were invited. I have a concern and I need your kind inputs as always; I have read that bulk SMSes are not delivered to ported numbers. I recently ported from mtn to glo. This is not to stretch my hope, but I'm just wondering if this might be the case for some of us, and if it's possible to confirm that it is (or not). Thank you... |

However, could you please assist us further; share some non-compromising contents of your invitation such as date and venue with us. That way, you'd equip us to reach out and make findings for ourselves. You never know, ur information could buy someone a chance. geobukky: Sorry for butting in on your conversation. I believe I have info That might help that's y.... Some UK schools could take a while to respond so I suggest u contact UKEAS (UK education advisory service). They don't charge a dime, and they could really speed things up for you. I know this because I was in a similar position to yours last week, I contacted them (really disturbed them) and got my letter same day. They have an office in Abuja and their head office in lagos. I don't know their lagos address and have none of their lagos contacts. I'm sure Google can help you find them. You could always call them but a visit to their office would definitely be more effective. All the best... 2 Likes |

Desander: Congratulations on your invitation. Well, before you start feeling like your people are the Einsteins of our time and are being punished for it, know that NDDC SCHOLARSHIP runs on a quota system. What this means is that every state has its quota. The quota from what I understand is largely dependent on oil production. Based on this, u can't expect an Akwa Ibom or a Rivers to have the same quota as Imo. Because Imo state has fewer slots, it's only natural that their cut-off be higher than States with larger slots. Are we together? I hope I didn't burst your bubble this morning. All the best in your interview. On a different matter, please who knows someone that knows someone that knows an NDDC scholar, we need help prepping for the interview. 2 Likes |

Hi guys. For those who have been kind enough to share their experiences, may Oluwa butter your bread. At least I can lay aside the incredibly ridiculous cinfores and focus on other things (still mourning my 5k though)... I have a question please; I have observed that in most exams, current affairs which as the name implies is expected to test knowledge of current trends rather tends to test knowledge of history. My question is; were the current affairs questions really current affairs or just history with a wrong tag? Please kindly extend your kindness to putting me through on this..... Thank you. |
