Why would government give out land for free, in a CBD for that matter? It doesn't work that way, any investor worth its salt that wants to operate in a CBD should be able to buy the land and develop accordingly.

Bank/Okigwe road and Wetheral road is already CBD of Owerri. It is left for government to make laws through the House of Assembly that any building to be erected in that axis wouldn't be less than 6 floors. It should also be marked as a strictly non residential area, particularly Bank/Okigwe road. Already, there are up to 4 buildings along there that are up to 7 floors or more. But more are needed to really make it a befitting CBD for Owerri. How I wish that old and dilapidated building at Warehouse, opposite Iheanacho's house would eventually be demolished and a high rise building erected there.

Also, Hope Uzodinma needs to complete that multi level car park opposite Garden Park so it be put to use.
What is holding the car park?

If progress bank building is completed, with the new high rise building opp prison is completed a miniature CBD is born. But Ikm to 2km standard road with street lights and interlocked internal roads is not that hard to achieve nwanne if we are serious about developing our city.
what is progress bank building ? Is it there headquarters? Is it high rise?

Oh I see, you're aiming for it in a grand way. Well, I agree with you on that, at least with our stolen oil wells now returned to us, there may be enough funds at the disposal of state government and also a significantly increased GDP to make it a reality. However, in the meantime, Bank road can be used for now because the sort of project you're talking about will take several years.

Just adding only 3 or 4 more hige rises along Bank/Okigwe road will make all the difference. Who says the state government can't even erect one iconic building of say 15 floors and commercialize it just like Akwa Ibom is doing. We really need to develop a standard city in Igboland that can match Abuja and Lagos in sophistication.
God bless you bro , please can you share any other development threads about Imo state and South East at large to me? Please

I pray the authorities listen, because owerri city already has a good number of high-rise building projects but scattered across the city, so an area meant for them is very much achievable and realistic.
Yes ooo, just one or two roads is enough for now

I drive through warehouse daily and people obey the traffic light there. However, what I observed is that some drivers, particularly those that drive busimo will still move ahead when the light is already showing amber before it goes red.

Again, I observe that pedestrians haven't started using the zebra crossing yet (maybe because the work is not completed yet) and it puts them at risk while trying to cross the wide road recklessly.

Lastly, if drivers or pedestrians fail to comply 100% to the use of traffic lights or zebra crossing, then you will have to blame the system and not the players. Sensitize pedestrians on the need to use zebra crossing (you may be surprised that many people don't even understand its use) and equally impound any vehicle that don't strictly obey the light.
Exactly ,strict laws needs to be put in place ,

Yes, but technical college is important, imo state has a proposed ImoFTZ at Ngor okpala, since Udenwa regime, I think it would be revisited. As for CBD I support, but government should provide the infrastructure and give out the lands for free with a height restrictions of minimum of 10 floors building.
It's very achievable.
Yes, I agree with you on that CBD of a thing. I agree 100% ,we need that in the South East. It will show that Igbos are really the economic strength of west Africa

Roads?? yes!! Technical schools? Priority? No bro. I think Industrial layouts, free trade zones, a financial district like the boulevard in NY, something like that to attract both local and foreign investors to our dear state should be made priority

Imagine if the defunct progress bank building was completed. Government should sell the building even if it's at a give away price of 1bilion naira, instead of allowing it rot away
Where be this bro? Imo should also look into serious planting of trees and shrubs along all the roads Biko. It helps in alleviating the look of the environment and also climate change

According to the Owerri city urban renewal project, new bus terminals like the ones in Lagos will be established at Egbu road and Naze.

Control roundabout is also included in junction improvement works, though am dissatisfied that imsu roundabout was not included.

And wike will be there looking for ipobbheads to behead... Rivers state has always been stealing from Imo state... From oil wells to Igbo speaking communities even uoto language and culture.
So, Imo state is actually a very wealthy and legendary state. The hope Uzodinma mathematics is working. Wealthy state, wealthy individuals, educated state, educated individuals... Imo state... Enemies may cry all the more.
I too love my dear state Imo state , I just hope we can translate all these into Maximum development
