post anything else but not something that will put the lives of troops in danger..But I can answer the 2nd question...Weapons were basic...Suprise was the greatest element.

Its a shame we can't produce jet fighters when India that gained independence in 1947( 13 years earlier) can produce jet planes and have almost if not produced an aircraft carrier ship.

SiriusBlack: 1. Gunfights can sometimes be intense...sometimes sporadic, sometimes short, sometimes for hours..the lenght of the gun battle will determine how much ammo is expended..Soldiers hardly run out of ammo because soldiers in FOBs are resupplied as at when needed.
2. Many people do not understand Guerilla Warfare, so its difficult for them to appreciate the efforts of troops at the front..The enemy is HIGHLY MOBILE...operatiing in guntrucks Technicals..Ambushes are more than possible under these conditions..and bases can easily be attacked..But still, the NA also uses Guerilla tactics against the Enemy...just this week, we popped over 50 of them at Bita..they were baited, the clowns came out in their hundreds, and they were swatted like flies..Guerilla style!
3. Morale is high!..Just depends on where you are posted..In you're in Maiduguri, Congrats! In Gwoza? Not so...happy..lol.....In conclusion...Morale is generally high.
Pls give us detail how do yeye people were baited and wiped off. If possible tell us the weapons used against them so that I can help you guys think out more Counter Terrorism tactics to use send those guys to their houris(heavenly babes).

Bororojo: I dont know how many times people want to hear it, before they stop using this term Hausa-Fulani.
would it be right if i start saying the "Hausa-Kanuri" or "Hausa-Nupe" Ethnic group?

Where are you getting these assumptions from?
It is a common knowledge in the SW

That Christianity is gaining ground at an alarming rate.

One day you too will convert.
PoliticsRe: Which Ethnic Group Comes 4th In Nigeria? by EasternLeopard: 8:29am On Jul 12, 2014
Bororojo: Errr... maybe that is because a good proportion of yorubas are Muslim, and blend in well with Hausa, while igbo are always conspicuous and are almost entirely christian?
Everyone knows that Yorubas are roughly split btw Islam and Christianity with more converting to Christianity everyday.

So a situation where a riot breaks out and Yoruba Christians are rarely affected proves two things

A) Northern Nigeria is not Yoruba Christians favourite destination. Meaning they are majorly in the SW since their population in the SE and most of SS excluding Edo is not much.

B) if point A is true which is true according to your view, then it means more than 50% of Yorubas reside within the SW

FACT: The number of non-Yorubas living in SW are in their millions why the number of non-Igbos living in SE/Igbo SS areas are not up to 1million due to little federal presence.

Therefore if Igbos can still boast of a huge population living within Igboland despite massive migration of more than half her population, I don't think it is wise to believe Yorubas are more than Igbos since the difference in population btw those living in the SE and SW is not up to 10 million despite the huge presence of other Nigerians in the SW.

Nigeria educational system main problem is not funding but a faulty educational system.

A well structured educational system will produce well trained students whose project works will help develop marketable global products that addresses global challenges and generate lots of cash that can help run our universities.

How can we restructure our educational system.

1) Let's teach our kids how things work and are produced eg how do electric bulbs engines microprocessors etc work and are produced.

2) Basic Engineering-Technology should be taught from primary 1- 500level and it should focus totally on how things work and are produced.

3) Real and computer video learning/teaching materials should be made compulsory in order to
(a) help students have a clear picture of how things work and are produced.
(b) have a better substitute in the absence of real instruments.

4) In the universities, Basic Engineering-Technology should be streamlined to each departmental technology in other words an Elect/Elect student should be taught things pertaining to how Elect/Elect things work and are produced.

More money do not change the mode of teaching eg Nigerians pay hell in Ghanian universities but how many advanced technology have they developed that is sold worldwide.

Another example is our private universities. Despite the huge investment and affliation to some foreign universities and lecturers, we can't still boast of graduates that can develop marketable technological products.

So stop thinking that more money will address the issue.

Pls teach our students on how technological things work and are produced, in 20 years we will catch up with the rest of the world.

YOU CAN NEVER PRODUCE A THING WHICH YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW IT WORKS OR BEING PRODUCED.
PoliticsRe: Which Ethnic Group Comes 4th In Nigeria? by EasternLeopard: 7:00pm On Jul 11, 2014
mandarin: The Nigeria population census has been contested several times and so would not be a wholly perfect reference but also have its own level of truth.Like said by one of the posters here that Kano state has been divided a number of time but keeps having more population than Lagos state is in itself a way to doubt the truth of figures presented. Like I also said anywhere, I believe Nigeria's population is grossly overstated to accommodate huge figures that will make places like Sokoto,Kano, Jigawa and Zamfara come up with huge population for obvious numerical advantage. Taken that the northerners give birth more than southerners based on religion and polygamy I will however not agree to those bogus figures being reported. I believe the Nigeria population itself should not be more than 120 - 140 million which will actually mean writing off 20 million excess as being referred.
Coming to those claiming that certain ethnic groups are fourth in the ranking , I cannot agree with those claiming Ijaw based on the following reasons
1. Ijaw are found primarily in Bayelsa as the dominant group, one of the top three in Rivers and Delta and a very tiny minority in Ondo and Edo
If you consider the population of these states vis a vis the percentage of Ijaw living there you cannot get 10% of Nigeria's ,population, that will be a blatant lie. If honesty is anything to go by I think the Ijaw around these states cannot be more than 5 million or less
2. The kanuri are majorly in Borno and Yobe where they are the dominant groups and some few states around the north east. Taking the population of those states they too cannot exceed 6 million which even place them above the Ijaw. That the Ijaw are the fourth group is a product of propaganda and its baseless just like a whole lots of their claims on ownership of lands across the coast.
3.The Tiv are largest groups in Benue and are also indigents in states as Taraba, Cross River,Nasarawa. Summing up their numbers will give them like 5-6 million too
4. The Efik and Ibiobio if considered as one group will be indigents of Akwa Ibom and Cross River and considering their population will be around 8million which will make them the 4th largest group in Nigeria.

However we must consider the Fulani who are actually spread across ,Nigeria but we cannot separate them from the Hausa in the states of Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina etc where they have fused into themselves apart from those Bororo Fulani that are widespread all over Nigeria as cattle rearers. Our best is to lump them that way.The population of the North-western states are seriously overestimated like I said but if we lump the Hausa and Fulani together they will be the largest may be 25%.

The Yoruba groups are found in nine states in Nigeria where they are the exclusive in five(Ekiti,Oyo,Ondo,Osun,Ogun)dominate in two(Kwara, Lagos) and are the third largest group in two(Kogi,Edo)if Itsekiri are counted as part of them they will be in ten states. Considering the population of these states, it will give them like 24% of Nigeria's population.

The Igbo are found in 8 states where they are exclusive in three(Imo,Abia,Ebonyi) dominate in Enugu & Anambra(few Igala people are indigents) and are the second or third largest group in Delta and are indigents of Rivers and Bayelsa
Considering the population of these states and other factors to be stated below the Igbo will be like 19% of Nigeria.

Other factors
Migration across Nigeria by various ethnic groups are great and this cut across various groups. The Igbo are largely traders and that make them so conscupious in any environment unlike the Hausa some of whom are traders, securities and do a whole lots of menial jobs. The Hausa however live in groups and can easily be spotted at random when they converge. The Yoruba are people who easily fuse into their communities and it may be difficult to say which is more for instance in the north between the Yoruba and Igbo. For states like Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina,Kaduna and Kano I think the Yoruba are in larger number with over two generations of settlers many of whom have been Hausanized or are not easily spotted. They are the artisans, a lot of them are Muslims and many of them from Oyo, Kwara and Kogi feel at home there.
If Nigeria's census is to be taken today in absolute truth a lot will be amazed what the result will be. Let me just stop here.
The number of yorubas living in Igboland is not up to 100,000. But the number of Igbos in Yorubaland is in its millions.

When you go to the North, you will agree with me that Yorubas are not more than the Igbos. Whenever there is riot in the North, Igbos suffer the higher casualties when compared to the Yorubas.

So stop judging base on number of states.

Yujin: Exactly, this has been my summary of the whole war game with brains behind bh. It is a game of the wits; if you are good in draft or chess. The essence is just to buy time unfortunately, the puns to sacrificed cannot be reassembled on the board again.
Anyway, it remains just 7 months to the D-day.
Ehen, lest I forget- two hundred mortar shells from the NA are still in the hands of bh.
We are watching.
God bless you

The guys behind BH are technically emptying Federal armoury into BH armoury in preparation of a forceful takeover if GEJ wins 2015.

That is why we must make the necessary sacrifice until when the true BH leadership show their cards.

Many boys will have to pay the supreme price to stop these Jihadists.

Until then, I will advice the military to avoid giving BH the type of battle they desperately desire but instead deploy few long range artilleries that can easily be decommission in the eventuality of a Northern led coup.

quid: ^^ This is PRECISELY my point. Coups are animated from within the armed forces.
Therefore, your statement leads to the conclusion that some elements within the nigerian army are serious saboteurs (providing lame responses to BH) and coup-plotters.
That is why you must congratulate GEJ and his advisers for smartly establishing new military bases in the SS and SE regions.

What we need to do is to encourage him to buy and stockpile advance weapons in the SS and SE regions and also empty the Northern armouries.

I will also advise him to build a public-private industrial military complex covering some part of Abia, Akwa Ibom , Cross River and linked to the Sea that divides Akwa Ibom and Cross River.

quid: My friend. were you born 8 years ago?

If it were to be Zak Ibiam or Odi or any Niger Delta or south-eastern region, you will see all the armored cars of the Nigerian army rolled out in full force.

Now it is the north-east, and the mugus are using Toyota Hilux to go into a major battle.
How can anyone appreciate such f00lishness and insincerity?
Deploying vital weapons to a region that seeks power at all cost is madness especially when the threat of coup is real.

If a coup is launched and it fails, the coup plotters might seize the armoury within their stronghold and push South.

If am GEJ, I will keep the best weapons in the South should in case any eventuality arise.

No

Pls read my 1st and 2nd post in order to see the perceptive am presenting.

We live in an information age in which a man can learn lots of stuff through the internet from people who are willing to share their ideas.

So the issue is not about white or black lecturers but about bringing out the engineering-technological spirit in us. Which can be easily achieved by teaching students how things work and being produced.

Eg how many JSS 1 students can explain how an electric bulb works, why different coloured bulbs give different colours etc

bushdoc9919: Bravo.....to that I will just add.....fund technical and vocational schools well.
Sir even if the govt spends trillions on technical/vocational schools, the technology taught in Nigeria technical and Vocational schools can't help Nigeria to catch up with modern technology.

Examples of things taught in these schools are tailoring welding bricklayer carpentering repairs/maintenance of mechanic/electric appliances etc which are mainly finished/consumer goods and services.

It is different from teaching students how a/an electric- bulb- iron- fridge, engines submarines, jet engines, computers etc works and are produced. Which are mainly capital goods and services.

Technical/Vocational educational is taken seriously in other West Africa nations which is the major reason why for example a Ghanian electrician will do a better job than a Nigerian.

But that form of education haven't helped eg Ghanians from developing more advanced technology as listed above.
