PropertiesOwerri Property: Instead Of Hotel, See A Goldmine Waiting For Investors by EastisBae(op): 9:13am On Mar 07, 2022
Owerri currently has the highest number of hotels in Nigeria per square kilometer, and to stay ahead of competition, new investors in the hospitality industry are now building exotic high-rises of 6/7 stories and above. However, instead of spending huge amount of money to build such and also spend similar amount to equip it, there is an alternative property investment that is still waiting for smart investors to leverage and make massive profits.

In the last decade or so, Owerri has grown from a small civil servants town to a large city that attracts a large middle class. Owerri airport as the 4th busiest in Nigeria, the large number of malls, hotels, eateries and real estate is an indicator of huge consumer spending power.

Yet, there is a goldmine waiting for any smart investor, and that is A HIGH-RISE CITY TOWER in the central business district (Wetheral road).

A skyscraper/high-rise of at least 15 floors located anywhere around Wetheral road will immediately be fully occupied for obvious reasons. Companies like banks, telecommunications, insurance, bet, Pay TV, buotiques, government agencies, law firms, laboratories etc. and any big brand in Imo State will certainly want to have an office there because it will automatically become the city's trade center. The volume of people coming there will also off on other businesses established in the tower thereby ensuring massive publicity and attraction to all.

Also, telecommunication and pay TV companies will pay to use the roof for their masts. Sharing resources like power supply will also ensure that businesses there will enjoy full daytime supply at reduced costs.

Majority of Nigerians are indeed VERY DULL, this post and most of the comments have proven that already!

How can an Awolowo newspaper claim that someone informed them that APC may have zoned the presidency to the SW, and everyone started saying rubbish?!

Nothing concrete whatsoever except unverified gossip yet they are all wanking off on it shocked shocked

Common, all those that believed this gossip are gullible.

I don't care which region APC eventually gives their ticket but for people to believe this unsubstantiated piece is really appalling.

If it's Dangote now or any other Northern Muslim, they will sell it to him on a platter. Seplat should not pay a Kobo extra. There are many African countries now producing crude oil that would appreciate Seplats investments.

They should give it to NNPC or hurriedly form a quack Northern company to buy it, it would still be a matter of time before they ruin it just like they did on others.

Bastardized country ruled by demonic cabals, it was also due to hate and wickedness to frustrate Igbos that made them to sell assets Geometric Energy owned by Barth Nnaji had already secured to Emeka Offor which frustrated Barth Nnaji for many years and stopped Aba from benefitting from it until he had to pay another $5 million!

They should continue their shenanigans but Igbos are carefully watching.

They've started with some reforms but only an inclusive nation can truly save Nigeria.

These people are just cancer to everyone
On the contrary, it is ijaws that are a cancer to all other ethnicities in Niger Delta and that's a fact. How can you ijaws be fighting Bini people over their land in Gele-gele just because their fathers were magnanimous to allow your wandering fathers to fish in their riverine communities. Same ijaw is fighting Itshekiris, fighting Urhobos, even fought Yorubas too and are now claiming some Ibibio lands as ijaw. Everyone has understood how treacherous you guys can be and that is why Bini people have vowed to deal you guys while Urhobos are saying over their dead bodies will you rule in Delta.

Lol...what are you scared about?
That your treachery as a people will be exposed? The Akwa/Cross are docile and easy pickings that's why you love them so much.

This is an enlightening thread,at least people know now that Aros aren't Igbos as you all claim. You were never coastal dwellers.
I know you're envious that Igbos have a cordial relationship with the Akwa/Cross. You call them docile because they don't go about constituting nuisance like you guys?

FYI, they've gone far ahead of you ogogoro drinkers and have steadily uplifted themselves with the proceeds of crude oil unlike you guys. Is there any town or city in your ijaw land that can be compared to Ikot ekpene and Eket? Talk more of Uyo and Calabar. They even have a viable airport and airline yet you guys can't boast of anything except shouting our oyel, our oyel.

Ibibio, Efik, Ejagham and others within that axis have always seen Igbos as dependable allies throughout history. Go and read about the exploits of Margaret Ekpo when she was living in Aba during the colonial era.

In Biafra, they didn't betray Igbos the way you ijaws did. Ojukwu always knew he could count on them and that was why he gave their sons strategic positions in Biafra. His Vice, Philip Efiong who he eventually handed over was an Ibibio man, others like Oko Okon Ndem also played pivotal roles and they stood by Ojukwu till the end!

Whatever happened between the Aros and the Ibibios was during the "dark ages" and it happened in other places too whenever a particular group is significantly stronger than their neighbors.

To show how close the Igbos and Ibibios are, there are indeed some Ibibio communities around Akwa Ibom boundaries with Abia State who prefer to be called Abians despite Akwa Ibom being an oil rich state!

So there is mutual respect and understanding between us and that's why you're so angry cheesy cheesy

SmartPolician:
Facts are facts and emotions cannot change that. I think internet penetration is low in the east because most young people from the east don't reside in the region.

The SE leaders haven't made effort to create opportunities for them in order to keep them there. The implication is that every young Igbo wants to migrate to Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt or elsewhere in the world in search of greener pastures.

People often say that anywhere you go and you don't see an Igbo man, you know that nothing is happening there. Funnily enough, our people see that as a good thing. The truth is, there's nothing good about a region's most brilliant minds leaving their region in droves.
Stupidity is when you try to make a national problem an Igbo problem. Is every educated yoruba, Hausa and indeed all Nigerians not mostly migrating to those cities you listed for obvious reasons? Was it Yoruba leaders that made Lagos what it is or Hausa leaders that made Abuja what it is? Haven't most yorubas abandoned their various states and now claim Lagos?

Most of you always lose your brain whenever discussion is centered on Igbos.

Internet penetration: Why South East remains lowest at 13.7 million users
March 2, 2022

•Inadequate infrastructure, low broadband connectivity fingered

By Juliet Umeh

South Eastern region of Nigeria comprising of Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi and Imo states has been ranked poorly in internet penetration. The region’s internet penetration rating is even poorer than the troubled North East of the country where insurgency has refused to abate for over a decade.

The ranking which is contained in the Bureau of statistics, NBS report for the last quarter of 2021 has jolted many technology enthusiasts who reeled out several factors possibly fuelling such a debasing rating.

READ ALSO: ICT contributes 15.21% to GDP in Q4’21 — NBS
According to NBS, internet usage in Nigeria in quarter 04, 2021 South Eastern Nigeria recorded 13.7 million users, which is the lowest among the states, except North East.

NBS data shows that in the quarter under review, South West region has the highest online users with 41.7 million followed by North Central with 26.6, North West has 25.4 users.

Others are South-South which has 20.8 million internet users and troubled North East which has 13.8 million.

Many experts have said that the data is not unconnected with lack of infrastructure, low broadband connectivity, and population size among others.

Founder and Executive Vice Chairman of Signal Alliance, Mr Collins Onuegbu, regrets that South East lacks infrastructure while describing the report as sad.

He said: “One of the factors against fast internet penetration in the south East is inadequate infrastructure. Of particular concern is little or no broadband connection in the region.

“I remember I worked with one of the governments in South East and one of the things recommended was the focus on broadband connectivity and that we should collaborate with telecommunications companies to bring broadband connectivity. So until the region improves on that it’s going to remain a problem.

“Sometimes it’s also about Right of Way. The South East is very difficult to do business.

Sometimes, telecom companies struggle to put the infrastructure that will provide connectivity. So, to boost penetration, governments at all levels there should make the environment business friendly. I think the telecom companies should have to get support from the local governments to make sure that infrastructure are easily deployed there” he advised.

A woman tech expert, Ms Ugochi Igbojekwe who is the country Lead for UzorTech, a consulting company, also echoed Onuegbu’s position that inadequate infrastructure was the major problem.

She said: “For instance, if there is no power supply for two days, your internet would not run. If you have a modem, it could have died because you didn’t charge it.

“So, I will say it’s about infrastructure and which also bothers on what government can do. If the government can provide enabling environment that can allow technology thrive I think that would go a long way”.

Co-founder & CEO of mobility Tech Company, Metro Africa Xpress, MAX, Mr. Adetayo Bamiduro, thinks the problem could be as a result of low income levels.

He said: “For you to have access to the internet you need to have data and if people are not earning enough money to afford data that presents a lot of challenges.

“So, it’s not just an infrastructure challenge, it also has to do with access to finance or income level challenge.

“The more we enable our people to earn more money and create economic opportunities for them, the more they can afford constant access to the internet.

Also, CEO, Autocheck Africa, Mr. Etop Ikpe, also attributed the problem to lack of compliance to National Identification Number, NIN.

He said: “What it means basically is that most individuals or subscribers over there were not captured and could not provide their NIN registration.

“The essence of the exercise was to ensure that every internet user can be identified as an individual. And there are users for instance who don’t want to be identified. I think it’s a compliance issue, we need to follow compliance and rules.”

Vanguard News
The only intelligent person among them who was able to explain it perfectly. The others were so unintelligent in their contributions that you begin to wonder.

If only they understand the mindset of people in the SE and their perception of the central government, then they wouldn't have been saying trash. Many people actually believe that NIN was a tool the federal government was trying to use in getting sensitive information about the people and this has caused serious aparthy to it. Only those that are buying new Sims or have any dealing that makes NIN mandatory are going for it in the SE.

And if you think that such perception of the federal government is farfetched then you haven't lived in the East in recent times. When government agencies like the police and army randomly go through people's phones just to check if they can see anti government sentiments which they use in automatically tagging people as IPOB then you won't blame the people.

Common sense should have told them that a region that ranks highest in literacy rates can't possibly have the lowest internet penetration.

Misleading information!
