I don't understand how some folks will sit on a high horse having gotten to a stage they consider comfortable in their minds and tell people how to lead their lives.

If anyone wishes to pursue money and not career, how is that anyone's business? If you are unable to contribute without being borderline rude and patronizing, you may wish to steer clear.
TravelRe: Nigerians In Diaspora - Is It Really Still Rosy Out There? by ebariba: 2:04pm On Aug 07, 2012
I don't know about rosy but for me, and given my personal goals, I'd like to think I'm comfortable. Now, comfortable means different things to different people.

'Doing well' in life, no matter what that means to you, is more of an inherent trait.

If your are hardworking and resilient, you will be alright, your location regardless.

May your life be run the way PDP and Goodluck has run nigeria in the last 12 years  and 11 months respectively. If you can't say amen to this, then you really should consider voting for change.

Buhari/ Bakare remains the most credible of the available contenders, based on relative antecedents. Maybe not in an ideal world, but in today's Nigeria, they are the best we have IMO.

@Tmoni, you happen to be on a career path I intend to pursue, I think getting guidance from someone who's successful in the field may be helpful. I have tried to IM you through your NL profile but you don't seem to have that option. Can I possibly have your email address, please? Mine is tushbj@yahoo.com. Many thanks

CareerRe: Welcome To My Office by ebariba: 11:40am On Feb 07, 2009
@Cristalz
My background is Geology and I work as an engineering Geologist on a site (Full time Resident Engineer).

My job description? Ensure the contractor comply with specification and working plan,, supervise "insitu" soil testing, take minutes at Earthwork review meetings, monitor ground settlement, gas/ground water monitoring, write daily and weekly reports, etc,

My boss always has something to correct on my report and minutes draft and since I got on the job, He has only commended me once!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There was a time I was asked to go supervise some drilling works, I went for the preliminary survey where I was given specific instructions by one of our technical Directors, he gave instructions on some technical stuff I had never heard before so I lost interest and just kept nodding my head, after the briefing, he asked if I had questions and I said no,

When drilling works commenced, one of the lads (drilling crew) asked me a question I did'nt have an answer to and instead of exercising my brain for an answer or say I don't know, I rang my Technical Director, and my oh my, oyinbo never yab me like that before!!! "I thought we discussed all these things and I thought u said u understood!!!", and he kept going on and on, I learnt my lesson sha.

@ Kobo

Your footnote which is supposed to reflect your belief system contradicts what is obvious to all, that you are not always open and objective, regarding an opinion that differs from yours as RUBBISH.

U live in your own cocoon and your views are not universal.

@ Hannibal/cannibal

I'm done with you.

Shut your trap, asswipe!!!

I am old enough to differentiate between a brilliant post and an unintelligent post.
Why not say something constructive rather than trying to prove whose comment is intelligent/foolish.
Tell u what, you have just added to the growing number of the dumb comments on this thread.
Typical, isn't it?

I see you've taken things personal, I am too much to engage you in childish bickerings and temper tantrums.

I see you are "old enough" in age but not in ,

All the best as u uphold your reputation. grin wink

"Aggresive minority should not force their tastes and believes on everyone"

That's the footnote registered on your profile and it reflects on every of your posts.
Foreign AffairsRe: Daughter Of John McCain's Running Mate Pregnant: So What? by ebariba: 6:56pm On Sep 03, 2008
@Hannibal

Your perception of intelligence or otherwise is entirely up to u. The fact that some posters disagree with your opinion on this post does'nt make them, or their posts unintelligent.

Be objective, be open and grow.
Foreign AffairsRe: Daughter Of John McCain's Running Mate Pregnant: So What? by ebariba: 6:03pm On Sep 03, 2008
I don't understand why Mrs Pallin's political career/ambition should'nt be disrupted by her daughter's act. Afterall, politicians like her are quick to profer solutions to societal problems like juvenile delinquencies and the likes, blaming such on the inability of parents to rear their wards properly,

And the fact that Mr Obama has chosen not to use this situation as a political tool is inconsequential!

I understand she said her daughter is getting married to the boy/man that got her pregnant.
Question 1; Has the boy/man indicated his interest in marriage at this time?
2; When did becoming pregnant become a prerequisite to getting married?

I wish her luck!

i think the question here is how old are you ? you always try to pose as you have an answer to every dilemma and scenario in this world. dude life is not easily compartmentalised the way you always make it appear. life is not black or white. there are different shades of grey in between. off course there are suffering old folk in naija just like their are suffering old folk in america but i will like to believe that suffering in your country is ten times better than sufferin in another mans country. TRY TO EXPAND YOUR MIND DUDE CUZ YOU SOUND LIKE A RIGID UPTIGHT DUDE. there is different shades of grey in life. remember that. stop trying to sound like you can actualise all scenarios in your mind and can come up with the actual answer. ALL YOUR ARGUMENTS FALL INTO THE CATEGORY OF HYPOTHESISING
I hope this dialogue remains objective and personal ego isn't coming to play, and I hope the parties involved are'nt taking issues personal.
PoliticsRe: 'Return Home', Fashola Charges Nigerians In Diaspora by ebariba: 9:33pm On Aug 26, 2008
@Buzugee

You have succeeded again in commiting a fallacy of hasty generalization. The fact that you seem to reside with a group of unhappy people of a particular age, sect and colour does not connote that everybody of that age group is unhappy.

Again, I think it's entirely up to an individual to decide where and what he/she will derive happiness or fulfillment from. I trust you appreciate the points that are being raised here, but u want to keep the thread flowing, hence your arguments.

Can I ask, how come your parents chose to go back after they have attained a state of financial independence/stability? And what percentage of Nigerians above the age bracket u mentioned in your posts lead the kind of "enjoyable" lifestyle your folks have?

Your analyses are sound and conclusive. I give you kudos for your ability to do this without giving anyone subtle insults.

End of discussion.

You are right!I know there are folks who have nofin good to say about NIgeria and they are abroad and the truth is they will one day wake up and see the reality which is the colour of their skin grin grin grin grin and of course their NIgerian accent!I also know that some people have really suffered in NIgeria before they finally were able to travel but when such people talk times,you need to feel their motive for talking,Our leaders come to the same country to spend the money meant to develop the country,they bring their children to come and study here while the schools back home are going down the drain,they see the level of technology here and most them are not motivated even to just copy what they have seen here but rather it is too oppress the masses and keep collecting allocations which are never used for what it is intended for.My dear I can't begin to go into stuffs that you know about,but the fact still remains that,if sincerely,they want the best of NIgerians to come home,they should make preparations for them or better still relinquish their positions for them and lets see how they will perform.simple! cool cool cool cool
U make sense sir! Any sensible person must thnk about the consequesnces of his/her actions, not just to him/her, but also to his children!!! Like I said earlier, talk is cheap so Mr Fashola can say what he likes.

Miss Lepa, u said u studied in Edinburgh, have u see Pastors praying against accidents on National Express or mega bus?, did you have to shut yourself up in your house at 8pm? Did u need a security guard or alsatian dogs for security in your house?

If someone choses to have peace of mind and flip burgers or do a care job, I think his life expectancy is higher than someone working in IBTC and lives in abject fear!!!! Your assessment of living a good life is not a yardstick for others mate,
