Your customers are hugely important. And your key employees. As well as the industry you've chosen, politics, macroeconomics, and education. And luck. While all those are important factors in the success of your business (or career) and your earning power, here's one factor you probably haven't considered: Your spouse. Researchers at Washington University in St. Louis found that people with relatively prudent and reliable partners tend to perform better at work, earning more promotions, making more money, and feeling more satisfied with their jobs. That's true for men and women: "Partner conscientiousness" predicted future job satisfaction, income, and likelihood of promotion (even after factoring in the participants' level of conscientiousness.) According to the researchers, "conscientious" partners perform more household tasks, exhibit more pragmatic behaviors that their spouses are likely to emulate, and promote a more satisfying home life, all of which enables their spouse to focus more on work. As one researcher said, "These results demonstrate that the dispositional characteristics of the person one marries influence important aspects of one's professional life." (In nonresearch terms, a good partner both sets a good example and makes it possible for you to be a better you.) I know that's true for me. My wife is the most organized person I know. She juggles family, multiple jobs, multiple interests -- she's a goal-achieving machine. Her "conscientiousness" used to get on my nerves, until I realized the only reason it bugged me was because her level of focus implicitly challenged my inherent laziness. I finally realized the best way to get more done was to actually get more done, and she definitely helps me do that. And I try to do the same for her. Since my daily commute is two flights of stairs, I take care of most of the house stuff: laundry, groceries, cleaning (I don't do all the cleaning, but I make sure it gets done), etc., so when she comes home she can just behome. So, while she's still much more conscientious and organized than I am, she's definitely rubbed off on me in a very positive way. Which of course makes sense: As Jim Rohn says, we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with -- and that's particularly true where our significant others are concerned. Bad habits rub off. Poor tendencies rub off. We all know that. But good habits and good tendencies rub off too. Plus, if one person is extremely organized and keeps your household train running on time, that frees the other up to focus more on work. (Of course, in a perfect world, both people would more or less equally share train-engineer duties so that both can better focus on their careers, whether those careers are in the home or outside.) Keep in mind, I'm not recommending you choose your significant other solely on the basis of criteria like conscientiousness and prudence. As the researchers say, "Marrying a conscientious partner could at first sound like a recipe for a rigid and lackluster lifestyle." Nor am I suggesting you end a relationship if you feel your partner is lacking in those areas. But it does appear that having a conscientious and prudent partner is part of the recipe for a better and more rewarding career. So instead of expecting your partner to change, think about what you can do to be more supportive of your significant other. Maybe you can take on managing your finances, or take care of more household chores, or repairs, maintenance, or schedules. After all, the best way to lead is by example, and in time you may find that you and your significant other make an outstanding -- and mutually supportive -- team. How awesome does that sound? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/01/23/significant-other-support_n_6525972.html |
The US President has unveiled a $4 trillion budget for 2016 that will increase taxes on higher-income Americans and provide tax relief for the middle-class. President Barack Obama said his plans were “practical” and “not partisan,” as Monday’s tax hikes totaling $2 trillion were unveiled. Obama said his proposal would “help working families feel more secure with paychecks that go further,” in a move likely to anger his Republican rivals. The budget includes $478 billion to upgrade infrastructure and sizable measures to cut costs for people paying for child care and education – touchstone issues for Democrats. Overturning mandatory caps on defence and other spending, the budget will add $474 billion to US debt. In the run-up to the its release, the Obama administration said the US economy had improved enough to raise some taxes and increase spending to help Americans who haven’t benefited from the recovery. Obama’s 2016 budget assumes the world’s largest economy will grow at about 3.1 percent this calendar year, with unemployment at 5.4 percent and inflation of 1.4 percent. The deficit for 2016 would stand at 2.5 percent, comfortably below the three percent level economists deem sustainable. The budget also includes spending to counter “Russian pressure and aggressive action” in eastern Europe. Ukraine would receive $117 million in funding, as well as a possible $1 billion sovereign loan guarantee for 2016. Moldova and Georgia would get $51 million “for countering Russian pressure and destabilizing activities.” There would also be funding to help defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), around $1 billion to boost governance in Central America, the starting point for many migrants arriving in the US, and $14 billion to support cybersecurity. Republicans, however, say Obama’s proposals would threaten the recovery and the focus should be on eliminating the budget deficit. (Punch) This is what I expect from our so called Leaders in Nigeria. Instead their thinking is all about making themselves rich.

Whatever the case, APC is at fault for not doing a complete background and find loop holes on their Presidential candidate this is the highest position in Nigeria. Let them find ways to solve this issue else it would be a big embarrassment. |

Abuja - An Abuja Federal High Court on Monday granted an ex-parte application in an eligibility suit seeking to serve court processes on APC presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), through three newspapers. The presiding judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola, also fixed Feb. 9 for mention and possible hearing in the suit challenging Buhari’s eligibility to contest the elections over his Secondary School Certificate. The plaintiff, Mr Max Ozoaka, a lawyer, who filed the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/14/2015 through an originating summons filed by his counsel, Mr Ade Okeaya-Inneh (SAN), joined Buhari and INEC as co-defendants. The court also granted the plaintiff’s prayers for Buhari and INEC to abridge time within which to enter appearance in the suit and ordered that service be made on them before Feb. 9. Ozoaka’s counsel, Okeaya-Inneh, in the originating summons, is seeking an order to disqualify Buhari from contesting and/or participating in the Feb. 14 presidential elections or any other date INEC may fix. He is also seeking an order restraining INEC from permitting Buhari to participate in the Feb. 14 presidential elections or any other date that it may fix for the said elections. The plaintiff is also seeking a declaration that by the combined provisions of Sections 31(1)(2) and (3) of the 2010 Electoral Act and INEC Form CF 001, Buhari is mandatorily obliged to strictly comply with their provisions. This, he argued, had to do with Buhari’s filing and submission of INEC Form CF 001, without attaching evidence of educational qualifications as required, which was an offence under Section 31 of the Act. The plaintiff, therefore, prayed the court to declare that Buhari is not eligible to participate in the 2015 presidential election for failure to comply with the terms for submission of list of candidates. blazyblaze:#Not seeing often is not in a guy's dictionary who is on a mission, trust me. He is only waiting for the right opportunity. If he does love you why not still hang on and wait for you than getting somebody else? So now do you want him to dump his present girl friend because of you? huh? |
I agree with #MizMyColi. He knows he cant get laid being just friends with you. The only way is to date you, and if you agree, well it will be to your detriment because he is going to need you only when he needs sex, and at the same time keep hold of his girl as the main chick. N/B: your topic should be ''TOO'' not ''To'' |

24-year old Huang Xiju truly loves her brother as she offered herself for anyone who could save her brother. Her brother Huang Xichao suffered from leukemia and just recently had a bone marrow transplant. They were able to borrow 300,000 Yuan for the transplant, but are in need of another 300,000 Yuan because of the transplant’s complications. Her brother is now suffering from systemic sclerosis and needed more money for him to fully recover. Since they are already in too much debt, Huang Xiju is now desperately calling for help. Since she was already dressed in a beautiful white gown, passersby immediately took notice. The sign she was carrying read: “My little brother has leukemia. We borrowed more than 300,000 yuan for a bone marrow transplant, but complications after the surgery caused systemic sclerosis. We are now in need of 300,000 yuan more to ensure his full recovery. Since we do not have the money to pay the medical expenses, I am looking for a husband [who is willing to help us pay]! If there is someone who is willing to pay my brother’s medical expenses, I am willing to marry him, and am even ready to take the train home with him to register our marriage. I am Huang Xiju from Zhijin county in Guizhou province. I am 24 years old, 150cm tall, and I have a junior college degree! If you are interested you can go to the Hematology Department at Kunming People’s Liberation Army General Hospital to verify my brother’s condition. My brother’s name: Huang Xichao! The United States yesterday stated that they will deny entry visa to any Nigerian politician responsible for fomenting violence during elections. US also advised Nigeria against postponing the general elections scheduled for next month. The US Secretary of State, Mr. John Kerry, gave the advice after he met the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, President Goodluck Jonathan and All Progressives Congress Maj. Gen. Muhamadu Buhari (retd.) in Lagos on Sunday. Kerry said that the US would deny entry visa to any Nigerian politician responsible for fomenting violence during the February elections. He urged the Federal Government not to postpone the elections as being canvassed by the National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.). The secretary of state said, “Given the stakes, it’s absolutely critical that these elections are conducted peacefully.” Kerry was in Nigeria to urge the political class to respect the outcome of the February 14 presidential election. He explained that Washington was concerned that post-election violence could undermine the stability of Nigeria and hamper the fight against terrorism. It will be recalled that three days of rioting trailed the 2011 general elections which saw Buhari losing to Jonathan. Kerry said, “Nobody gains by violence, nobody gains by turning a political disagreement into a killing spree … The proof will be in the actions that are taken in the course of the election and afterwards. , “Anyone who participates in, plans or calls for violence against the civilian population must be held accountable, including by ineligibility for an American visa. Perpetrators of such violence would not be welcome in the US.” In an apparent response to Dasuki’s call, Kerry said, “It is imperative that Nigeria holds its elections on time.” Dasuki had in London last week called for the postponement of the elections to allow the Independent National Electoral Commission distribute more Permanent Voter Cards to Nigerians. An unconfirmed source said Kerry also spoke with the INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, on the telephone. He was said to have urged Jega to ensure that the polls, which would determine how the US relates to Nigeria in future, were credible. Kerry also said that the US remained committed to helping Nigeria fight Boko Haram. The National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd.), says the Federal Government is planning to introduce a law that will ban and block all porn websites in the country. He stated this at the closing ceremony of a three-day workshop on use of social media organised for Islamic preachers, Imams and youths in Kaduna on Sunday. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the workshop, which was organised by the national body of Izalatil Bid’a Wa’iqamatis Sunna (JIBWIS), aimed at correcting anomalies in the use of social media. Dasuki, who was represented by the Minister of Special Duties, Alhaji Kabiru Turaki, said: “Government is planning to ban and block websites that inculcate negative attitudes in our children but we need a law to support such move. Should this be priority for FG or should other matters be on the front burner? your thoughts cool Nairalanders! |
