cassyrooy:My question is why Islam - probably the most retrogressive religion that has blown no human society good? The Israeli and the Japanese and even the erstwhile Chrsitan Europr and America have been positively impacted by their religions. Why did you mention Islam for Ibos, the potentiallly most technically advanced tribe in Africa? |
JagabanB:No. What you find on Google first page isn't merely "written by people" but proven from "Authority Sources" They are not just provable but reproducible. For instqance, the fact that the top WAEC and JAMB canditates are concurrently IBOs makes it reproducible. No matter your propaganda againat the Ibos, data aggregation is both a science and an art and big data companies such as Google know how to sift the truth from the hype. It is called identification of pattern from a mass of data. If it wasn't science, your Nigerian propaganda against the Ibos would have drowned it or even replaced this fact with a lie as you're working hard to do here. The same way the presidential election was MANIPULATED. Anyway, back to the topic, why do you think the Ibos despite being the most intelligent African tribe couldn't make enough guns to prevent the colonialist conquest of the Ibo country? |
JagabanB:Do not digress. That's why we complain about the intelligence of many black tribes. The topic is about the Ibos high IQ and why they couldn't use it to stop the Britiah conquest of the Igbo country. If yiu have nothing to contribute on that, please exit. It's already on record that they're the smartest african tribe. Disprove Google.

cassyrooy:Islam really? Why didn't you suggest Shintoism, the Japanese religion or Judaism, the Israeli religion? At least those are technologically advanced countries unlike Islamic countries known for their awkward ways. Why Islam which neurologists have proven has an adverse effect on the brain? Maybe it's another colonial attack against the Ibo since we can't link technological advancement to Islam? |
kettykin:This is insightful. Let me paraphrase: Nigeria's most important accomplishment in its 109 years of existence obviously is keeping down the Ibo nation for the West (Europe and America). Have you noticed the unity among Nigerian when the adversary seems to be Ibo? Even on Nairaland, you'll see everyone having an opinion if the topic vilifies the Ibo. I mean from Maiduguri to Brass, Kebbi to Epe, there seems to be a consensus that Nigeria is making progress as long as the Ibos remain a part of the country albeit a peripheral part. The divide and rule inculcated in the system by the British sure had as its agenda to keep this black race down among less progressive tribes within this contraption. I can go further to hypotize that this same principle was behind the 2023 election heist. If you think it's all about bribe money, you've got another think coming. |
Cosbyrich:This is why we complain about the intelligence of the average black man. The topic is about the Ibo and similitude to the Japanese. Nothing should bring in Yoruba dick measurements here. You'll understand the pathetically flawed mindset of most African tribes if you use foreign forums. If you have nothing to contribute to the discussion, keep off. |
babasolution:This post is not about fighting the British but why the Ibos didn't utilize their high intelligence and tech savviness to arm themselves against the colonialist since they were the best black Africans with the high IQ to have been able to do that and not be colonized like the rest of we blacks. Imagine having an advanced Ibo country that was not colonized by the British being a pathfinder for the rest of African tribes. Someone even wrote a book "In Biafra, Africa Died" Imagine what could have been without a colonized Igbo country. |
SuperOnyi:This is a difficult question that Igbo historians should seek to explain. I wonder the function of the many History departments in the universities. Nevertheless, it is obvious that the Ibo society was designed to be small and independent with affiliation to one or more hamlets in the locality. It could also be that being forest dwellers gave the hamlets the natural defenses they needed against widespread assaults. The loose confederacy of the Ibo clans obviously made things easy for the colonialists. We also need to factor in the fact that unlike the Incas, the Ibos never built wide roads and had no fast means of communication. Being jungle dwellers, poor means of communication and little-inter clan relationships no doubt meant that the Ibos were never able to fight as a unit. That is why the Aro has to fight the British without help from other Igbo clans. No doubt, the Ibo were neither like the Incas nor even like the Greeks that unite during wars despite operating city states. Nevertheless, it is my belief that if large Ibo clans like the the Aboh, Ukwa and Opobos who first encountered the Europeans around the Niger and Atlantic had more contact with the interior, things may have turned out differently for the Igbo country. But the fact remained that it was a self-sustaining, self-sufficient country that existed mainly at a subsistence level. Nevertheless, what I believe is that the Ibos had the technological expertise to build enough guns to withstand the British but were not organized enough to do it due to extenuating circumstanced. Perhaps the Sahara is to black Africa what the settlement pattern and tropical forest is to Ibo country. Why the Ibo country never united as one? We may never know for sure. |
[quote author=bnanny post=128961803] The ibo I know are fake products sellers. After WW2. This was what the Europeans and Americans said about Japan. They termed them makers of inferior and fake products. As late as 1980's, the Americans were labelling Chinese products as inferior. Less than two decades later, the US military started awarding contracts to China. Today, Americans and Canadians are the biggest markets for Japanese automobiles. So it's not what you think, but what a people are capable of accomplishing that matters. What matters is that the Ibos know their worth and what they're capable of with or without your input. Igbo are no brainier than in other tribes in Nigeria and Africa. They're mostly fake products sellers and drug dealers.Unfortunately, the decades-old Nigerian propaganda against the Ibos no longer hold water. Even Google knows the truth. I suggest that you ask the Google-bot and algorithme to switch the most Intelligent tribe, the smartest tribe and the most industrious tribe in Africa to another. Maybe Zulu or Mandika would suffice. For now, and always it is IBO. |
Yoruba have Sunday Igboho. They can't do nada... |
onumadu:Granted. The British divide and conquer or divide and rule may have played a role with 400 black troops marching in from Gold Coast, but I also do not doubt that if the Royal Niger Company encountered a technologically at par Igbo country, with more guns than men, they would have thought twice before trying to conquer the country, I understand that if it is mostly blacks dying, they'd have time on their side but what I do know is that technological superiority gave them the edge. Let's look at the Biafra-Nigerian conflict for instance. It was a reenactment of colonialism, with British instructors using whips to drive the Nigerian troops back to the battlke field whenever they retreated from the Biafrans. Do you think that the British would have committed their citizens to fight and die had the Biafrans been better armed to deplete the Nigerian fighting forces? No. Even the Americans withdrew from Afghanistan just like the Russians did decades earlier. In other words, the failure of the Ibo country to arm prior to the colonialist attack was its most obvious oversight. |
Broveens42:So why couldn't the Ibos stop the British? They wouldn't be dealing with the Nigerian factor if they did. |
EmiloCorn:Very correct. I have a feeling that it was a built-in lopsidedness created by the British colonialists against the Ibos. Create a lev el playing field and other tribes would feel intimidated. Same reason the 2023 presidential election was determined NOT by MERIT. |
JagabanB:You're being economical with the truth. Start by listing the recent first, the second and the third top scorers in WAEC and JAMB before we take you seriously. |
chopnaira:True... I have the feeling that the built-in Nigerian mediocrity is affecting the Ibos. Could it be why they're the only tribe serious to exit and form their own country? |
Cabalgeneral:The Japanese Toyota, for instance is one of the most popular automobiles in North America. That's 10,000 miles from Japan. I'm sure you own one or two Japanese products in your home. That's how races with high IQ prosper. |
kettykin:Mobile refinery and retrofitted planes yes. Mobile transmitter and Javelin bombs no. The former could be linked to the British and the latter, the Germans. If the Ibos had enough guns, if they were well armed via indegenous technology, the British wouldn't have the motivation to fight them as they had no motivation to fight Japan. In fact, the Igbo country was a dense tropical forest where everything would have worked against the invaders. The British had only one confidence - advanced weaponry. |
I read about the former US Secretary of State, Henry Kessinger describing the Ibos as the Jews of Africa due to their higher intelligence than most black tribes. I also read about European countries telling Biafran delegations that they prefer supporting Nigeria during the Nigerian-Biafran war simply because "another Japan in Africa would not favour Europe." Despite the high intelligence and industry of the Ibos, I do not subscribe to the notion that Ibos are or would have become the Japan of Africa despite accomplishing technological feats that Nigeria cannot accomplish today during the short-lived Biafra. Here are my reasons: 1) Japan was never colonized by the European but Ibos were. The simple reason why no European country was bold enough to fight to conquer Japan is that the Japanese saw ahead of the Ibos. By late 16th Century, a Japanese Shogungate bought a few guns from the Portuguese. By 1700s, Japan had more guns than most European countries because they simply learned how to make guns and made more guns than the Europeans who initially sold guns to them. 2) By 1600s, less than 200 years after the Japanese met the Europeans, Ibos also had guns they probably bought from the Europeans, but 200 years later, unlike the Japanese, the Ibos had not made enough guns to deter European colonialists. In fact, around this period, the Japanese completely closed their country to the Europens and would only trade for guns. This was a time the Ibo country was being exploited even for manpower - slaves, by the Europeans. I remember reading about the Portuguese ambassador to Japan telling the king of Portugal (while describing Japan and their insistence on trading only for guns) that "This is not Africa." This points to the fact that Africans are significantly of lower intelligence than the Japanese, and Ibos are not excluded. 3) As probably the most intelligent tribe in Africa, I believe that the Ibos were best positioned to stop the colonialist (British, French and Germans) if they had foresight like the Japanese and insisted on trading for guns and using their local technology to mass produce it just as they did during the war with Nigeria, unfortunately they could not and had to fight the British for nearly 30 years as underdogs. Granted, they were probably the only tribe that had the pride to fight in present-day Nigeria, but fighting and losing isn't enough. They could have done more through deterrrence were they actually like the Japanese. 4) In essence, there is no taking from the Ibos their high intelligence par African level, but it is mere wishful thinking to claim that Ibos or Biafra would have become the Japan of Africa. Maybe they'd have become close to Singapore, but not exactly like Japan. If Ibos are like Japan, they shouldn't have been colonized and African blacks would have had respect among other races for producing one of the two nations that were never colonized in Africa. Are Ibos like the Japanese? Maybe. Are they the Japan of Africa? No.

They're slowing bring Igbo into the CBN because they know that with their tribally consituted money managers the dollar would kiss $15k by December. |

Ola9ja23:Just because I told the truth in a true-life story to show that not only Ebin Pawa Region is affected by Ebin Pawa? The neighbor in question may not even from Ebin Pawa Region. There's no place in the story that suggests that Ebin Pawa affects inly the Ebin Pawa Region of the country. It is a national, if not a regional calamity. -EbinPawaGovt |

kunle4toyeyaho:True. It also shows that he lacks a sense of fairness. Someone like that can never be a good leader. We all saw how Tinubu shunted the SE. Has he proved to be a good leader? |
No problem. We'll know there is problem if they start kidnapping politicians. For now, their targets are still ebin [pawa o people |
Khallicopyro:Yeah, though he seemed decent when he supported Obaseki against Osho. Maybe he was acting Tinubu for Buhari because of his ambition to grab power. Let's hope he doesn;t grab and run with it like Tinubu. That'll be double Tinubulation for Edo people |
