Just as I have been telling any of my client(s) who cares to listen.the biggest hindrance to your actualizing your dream business is not having the needed capital but rather not believing that you can get that business started even though you don't have the needed capital. So what am I saying? Your not believing that your Small Business Ideas idea will work(provided its a profitable one) because you discovered that you need N100k or so to start off while you have only N10k - N20K.Find a way to raise the needed capital(I don't mean getting a loan) and if need be start with what you have and stubbornly grow towards where you want to be. |

I don't see a problem here Your problem is not having an idea of how you want to make money. For Instance: If you are student and have time to play around why not sell newspapers & Magazines(concentrate on ones student crave for) Required Capital - Nil Commission Per Copy - N30 and above |

And one of the things we're taught in secondary economics(hoping you read it) is about the external and internal factors of production. I can still hear the voice of my economics master saying while businesses/companies can control the internal factors, their only option in the external factors is to streamline their activities to it or run into trouble. And one of the external factors is Government policy. When a product is banned/prohibited for importation into a country. It enters that country only thru smuggling. Are you encouraging smuggling? The quick gains may be good but can very deadly when , I have seen guys whose goods worth over 3 million were confiscated by the customs without appeal. Even the ones that later got back their goods got it after much bribing and the question is: who will pay for the bribe money? The consumers of course and yet a lot of Nigerians point point at Abuja. Sometimes ago I was speaking at a business forum in Onitsha on this very topic and as expected I was asked how to deal with goverment regulations better. Guess what I answered! Let two, three or four importers come together, invite a consultant like me we seat put a plan of action together pull resources and logistics together.Go to China and import the machinery and personnel and believe you me within 2 years the initial investment will be recouped. |

echofamozo: The points made is well taking. I don't really see anything amusing in it. REAL TRUTH: What are you trying to convey by these statements: "No man or any woman is particularly meant for any man or woman" & "Know what your parents/family wants" Are you trying to say that I should keep on presenting one lady after another? What if they actually want is to arrange one? The bible said that children should obey parents/guardians in all things. The bible went on to say that the fear of the lord(not of parents) is the beginning of wisdom. The bible also said that he who finds(not whom a wife is found for) found a good thing. Why am I making that analogy? Marriage is a divine call/institution or vocation and most not be toyed with. The two parties entering into it are to enter into to fulfill that divine arrangement in the book Genesis where it was said let us give man a help mate. This help mate is one that should help him/her actualise his/her purpose of being and then be able to find a dwelling with God in eternity. I am not saying that Parents are to be discarded,NO! but they are to impose their wishes, will on their child in the guise of loving and protecting him/her while actually they are robbing him/her his/her joy as is in my case. Let me ask this question. Do you guys think that if Mary and Joseph has fought to shield the boy Jesus from going to Calvary. What would have have been our faith? |

Thanks all for your tips To help you guys understand better. I am an only son of my people and right from secondary school days I have been under great pressure to get married But one disheartening thing is that all the ladies I presented to them starting from my heart throb back then in 1999 is always rejected for one silly excuse or the other. And since then the present lady is making them lady number 5 and frankly speaking I am fed up and considering signing the perpetual bachelorhood. I may be 29 but I learnt back when I'm 12 that he's no a man who can't say no and mean what he said.I have learnt what 'honor' and virtue means which gave the nickname denobleman which stuck with me since my secondary school days. And being honorable I have taking my time to talk with my parents, trying my best to let them reason with me but from the look of things it seems that the final solution will be to tell them to bring a girl of their choice(laughs) And that reminds me,I was called home for the New Yam festival in August last year and guys could guess what happened a girl was brought by one the village women> I simply ignored them 'cos if even I'm a 3 year old boy and they want to bean-balls for me,they right to do is to ask ''junior will take bean-ball? and when I answer in the affirmative, they should ask if I am to take Ma Okey's or Ma Iyabo's. And since then they didn't say a word about it but I have people saying that my people told them that I rejected the lady they brought. Why should I do that? I tire O |

What was your reaction when you saw my subject line? Well I'm not gonna waste your precious time. I am a guy of 29 and happen to fall in love with a 32 year old babe And I honestly want want to make her the woman of my life and mother of my children 'cos I found in her not only all that I ever wanted in a woman but a course to live for. Infact my life revolves round her. But guess what? When I presented her to my people in Anambra as my choice of life partner. Everyone starts telling the reason or reasons why I must not marry. Some of their reasons are: 1.That she resides in Lagos 2.That she's too wise for me 3. That her eye too strong for 4. That I should marry from a well to do family that she'll not adore me 'cos her people's money And many more silly excuses When I looked I found a plot to bring someone for me to marry which I swore long ago won't happen and that has started a cold war. This is about the 5 times this incidence is repeating itself and frankly speaking I am tired and fed and thinking of doing something nasty that they all regret but I'd like to have your opinions NB:I am the only male child of my family |

Family / Re: Im Married But In Love With Another Man by ebonyking: 7:06pm On Jun 22, 2009 |
There's a very big and pertinent question that you have not answered and that is: Why did you chose to marry your husband out of all other men? I was recently at a catholic wedding and somewhere along the line the man of God asked the bridegroom, why he chose the bride of all women to be his wife. His question to the questions was stupidly baffling because I was no good reason that suggests the uniqueness of the bride. The bride was also asked the same questions and her answer was a bundle of emptiness. And whenever the issue of marriage or marriage problem like this is brought up I have always find it hard to disassociate the many squ.abbles and wahala I see in marriages from an inability to answer the above question clearly |

At a blogging mastermind training that I handled recently. I told the participants of the need and how to mask themselves if they decide to blog on a topic that is politicized I am so happy I took those guys through some measures to mask themselves while they blog on such topic. The morons in the presidency can go on and declare a cyber war on us, but to stop the truth is what they won't. Rather they will end up steering up young breed of passionate bloggers and web tech whiz. Someone should rather talk to them O! |

Re:ifyalways My answer to that is yes! But I am not going to give guarantees Why? Because every business has an element of risk, you must be willing to take chances. The standard procedure is to follow the steps listed above and even after that start by buying in smaller quantities and gradually increase the quantity over time as you build trust and relationship. As for the 9ja guy in China you met online who offered to help.He will be doing that at a commission which you may or may not be aware of,its cheaper to buy straight from the manufacturers, but there's no harm in him sourcing the goods, getting it shipped to 9ja.His running around is worth some fee because he acts as your purchasing manager ,there. Feel free to email me with admin@webfireng.com if you need more help |
Adverts / Top 7 Keys For Catapulting Your Business To Greatness by ebonyking: 12:28am On May 25, 2009 |
Have you dreamed of making that medicare business of yours a real giant player in the market place. Here are 7 keys to unlocking your wildest dream: 1.Know What Your Business Stands for and Live Those Values. Why are you in business and what is your business out there to do or to offer? More than ever, today, customers don't just ask "what products do you offer?" They also ask "what values do you stand for?" What values does your business stand for? What practices have you developed to live those values daily? 2. Know Your Compelling "Why." It was Viktor Frankl, the great Austrian psychiatrist, who said: "Success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue , as the unintended side effect of one's personal dedication to a cause greater than oneself." For what particular reason is your business existing?Customers must know why you are there and why they should patronize you. 3.Always Seek The Edge. In 1954, Roger Bannister did the seemingly "impossible" and ran the first 4 minute mile. When asked how he did it, he said "It's the ability to take more out of yourself than you've got.'" How can you "take more out of yourself than you've got" to achieve the seemingly impossible in your business? 4. Dare To Be Different. Contrary people are always the change agents in the business world. These wealth-building businesses are not simply "executing better" – they're radically changing the rules of the success game in their field or industry. Where in your business can you break the rules? How can you set yourself apart from the crowd in your industry? 5. Find Models Of Greatness. Within every industry, every geography, every career path, there are examples of greatness everywhere. Find those people, those businesses that inspire you the most. What is it about them you would like to emulate? What changes can you make today to be like them? 6. Plan For The Future. Great businesses decide their future. They are not dictated to,by it. They know exactly where they want to be, by when, how, and then persist in getting there. What decisions have you made about your business future? What do you need to decide differently in order to have a great outcome? 7. Commit To Personal Greatness. Your business is a direct reflection of where you are at. It only grows as quickly as you do. To build a great business, you must commit to your own personal greatness. How do you define personal greatness for yourself? What changes can you make to unleash your own greatness? Business / Re: How Can I Start Importation Business? by ebonyking: 5:56pm On May 22, 2009 |
Although you did not give more information abut the your budget, the country you want to import from, the products/services you want to import However you can start importing without leaving where you are by leveraging on the power of the internet to source and locate the manufacturers of your intended product/service. Make some little enquiry via Nigerian embassy, chambers of commerce in the town et cetera to ascertain that the providing companies really exists. When you are satisfied that company exists( at least to extent),contact them and tell them what you want. Don't just settle for the price that first gave you, know that price and terms are negotiable, negotiate to a price terms that is ok for you,if not move to another company and start the process till you get one that offers you the price terms that is ok for you. Open a domiciliary account at your bank and use that account to send your payment to to the company and sit back home and your product gets to you via the carrier, freight or shipping company you chose. He has said it all. If your budget is small, then start small and grow over time. Try your possible best to verify that the company your dealing actually exists. If you have someone in the merchants country, let him/her confirm the existence of the company for you. Its better and cheaper to buy from manufacturers factory than from agents and marketing companies For more on import tips download a free import from China ebook at http://www.webfireng.com |
Business / Top 10 Mistakes You Must Avoid When Starting A Business by ebonyking: 8:40am On May 22, 2009 |
Statistics have shown globally that out of every 10 business started in a given year 6 fell before their 1st anniversary and out the remaining 4 between 2-3 fell before the 3rd year. That has compelled me wonder what are the common mistakes that new business owners make and how can you,a webfireng member avoid making them yourself? Here is our top 10 list of mistakes people make when starting a business: 1)Not enough money. The most common reason why new businesses shut down is that the owner runs out of money. Cash flow is critical to a startup business. You could be profitable and still have to close your doors because your customers are taking too long to pay you. Cash is king in a startup venture and you need to prepare for it. One option is to make sure you have enough startup capital from your own investments or outsiders (bank loan, private investors, etc). A second option is to ease into the business so that you start asking customers to pay you a percentage of the money upfront. You could also do the business on a part-time basis until you know that it will make enough money to support you. 2) Not thinking survival. Starting a business is all about survival. How do you stay around one more day so that you can learn more about your market and close new customers? At the beginning stages of a business this may mean doing work that might not be completely what you want to do but it helps pay the bills. You need to do whatever it takes to survive and get through until the business can fully support yourself. 3) Losing Speed. Many new business owners have ambitions to start a business so they went on to rent a shop or create a website, try to make a few sales, go all out for a few months and then stop completely. Building a business is all about speed. If you had 24 hours to spend on a business it will be better to spend a hour a day spread over 24 days than spending 24 hours one day and do nothing the next day. It takes time to develop a new company and for people to react to what you have to offer. Never lose focus and your speed and even if your business is only a part time initiative for you at the moment, make sure that every day you are making progress of some sort to move your company forward. 4) Doing it all alone. Nobody is perfect or has the skills to do everything themselves. You need to understand what it is that you bring to the table and what you need to surround yourself with. If, for example, you are very strong at inventing but don’t want to sell then you need to find a salesperson to help you. You won’t succeed by forcing yourself to do things that you truly don’t enjoy and will never be good at. Know where you stand and what value you can offer. By getting people around you who complement your skills, you will be able to achieve your goals and have a lot more fun along the way! 5) Not hiring right away. You should begin looking at who can be brought on board to help you from the first day of starting your company. There will be tasks in any business that you, as the owner, should not be focusing on if you hope to build any sort of sizable organization. Why are you doing admin work when you should be out closing customers, talking to the media, and landing new partnerships? But I’m broke! How can I hire someone? Even if you have a $0 budget you can find people to work for you through high school and foreign student internship programs. Once you have a budget, you can bring people on board for as little as one hour a day (what I first did) and then increase their hours when you can afford it. You need to be spending your time working on the business and not in the business. 6. Doing it just for the money. If you don’t truly love your business then you won’t be successful. If you read the stories of famous business owners and how they built their organizations, you will discover that it all comes down to the root of knowing what you're doing and loving it hard. Money is definitely important, as most companies are for-profit enterprises, but it will often take a long time to come and if you don’t truly enjoy your work then you won’t be able to convince yourself to keep going. You can only do something that you don’t really love for so long before you give up. 7. Getting to year 1, past year 2. Many entrepreneurs have a hard time getting to the end of year one. Typically it’s because they started the business on a whim and got excited about an opportunity but didn’t do the proper research. These entrepreneurs usually run out of money and close down after a few months. A second challenge is getting through year two. It usually takes three years of hard work to make a business. Year one is all about the excitement of getting started. You’re high on energy and ready to take on the world. In year two entrepreneurs often find themselves still not making much money and the startup excitement has faded. You’ll need to work your way through the downturn and know that the money is coming if you keep at it. 8. Don’t build around a customer. The best way to make a lot of money quickly is to find a customer who has a problem and is willing to pay you to solve it - and then you go out and build the solution. Most entrepreneurs take the opposite mentality of “if I build it, then will come” only to realize that they’ve built it and nobody is coming. Instead of talking to customers as to why they’re not coming they decided to continue building and building. Soon they find out that they’ve invested years of work and nobody is interested in buying from them. The companies with the highest failure rates are restaurants because they are usually built around an owner’s personal tastes. Meanwhile, the entrepreneurs with the lowest failure rates are lawyers and accountants because they are based around a service that we all need (whether we like it or not!) Talk to potential customers, see what they are interested in, identify who has money and what their pains are and then create your product / service around them. 9. Don’t seek mentors. A great way to get a business going is to find out what other people have done to achieve success and implement those strategies into your own company. Find mentors who have knowledge of your industry and will give you time out of their day to help you. You could set up a formal board of advisers and compensate people for their time but if you’re a startup you can play on the fact that most entrepreneurs are willing to help out a fellow business owner as a way to give back. If you show genuine appreciation and approach the right people, the advice you get will help make or break your company. 10. Don’t get involved in the community. Tied in with not seeking mentors is not getting involved in the small business community like http://www.webfireng.com. Countless opportunities are generated by connecting with other young entrepreneurs and finding out what they are up to and how you can help. You will get new business opportunities, partners, investment, media attention, ideas for productive tools to use, advice for your company, and many other resources that otherwise would take you years of trial and error to figure out (if you ever do at all). A great community to be involved in, needless to say, is the Small Business Success Forum, where there are many smart business strategists waiting to meet you and help you grow your business! |
