Education / Depressed? 6 Easy Ways To Be Your Own Therapist! by ebube93: 12:57pm On Jun 03, 2019 |
Even though a lot of us don’t realize it we go through certain stages of sadness or depression. We create this bubble around ourselves that we refuse to pop and come out into fresh air. Of course, people around us trying to give advice and suggestions don’t help with the process. It makes us feel like they are trying to meddle in our lives and we shy into the darkness more to get those people out. Then how do we get ourselves out? Only one way and that is to be our own therapist. So here are the 6 easy ways to be your own damn therapist. 1. Exercise Practicing yoga, freehand, aerobics, etc. is a good way to relax your mind and have a refreshing start to your day. Even if you think you are too occupied with work, family, etc. find at leas 10 minutes each morning and find your inner peace. 2. Maintain A Journal/Diary Yes, let it all out. Sit in your sadness bubble and let it out into space by pouring your heart out into the diary. Do you have unanswered questions or secret desires? Write them in the diary and wait for the answers to come to you or see what your heart tells you to do. You can never go wrong with a diary. 3. Connect With Nature Nature has a very powerful way of calming you down like no other. It can help you straighten out your life in a millisecond. It can help you see right from wrong, give you a break from depression, inspire you like no other. So, get up from that couch and start by taking a walk in the park. 4. Let It Go To put it more easily, just relax. When you are in a chilled out mood, everything will seem a little less complicated. Life issues will seem like they don’t matter. You will find it easier to not take things personally and let things go. Thus, it will be easier for you to come out of that bubble. Forgive and forget is a great motto to live by. 5. Inspire Yourself Don’t know how? Indulge yourself in everything, and literally everything that makes you happy. Find your passion and pursue it. Make sure what you do make you smile and laugh. Cook yourself your favorite food, cuddle with your pet, watch your favorite movie with some popcorn, etc. Make sure whatever it is, it brings you the joy that you need to lighten up your mood. 6. Move On Yes, last but not the least finish your cleansing ritual by moving on. Let bygones be bygones. Open up your heart and mind to new prospects and possibilities of life. Make new friends, take a new path, and explore the world. Start coming out of your comfort zone. Let anything that ever happened to you be a past that you learn from and not something that you hold in your heart and stop yourself from moving in your future. Let it make you better and stronger than ever. Don’t let that make you be afraid of whatever comes next. Let it make you bolder and face it head on. Yes, it’s not really that hard to be your own therapist is it? These 6 steps are all about inspiring you. Over time, you self-confidence will grow to a level that you won’t know any bounds and you will feel unstoppable. Never once will it make you feel unsafe, uncoordinated or uncomfortable. So what are you waiting for? Start a trial run and see for yourself how real all these are. And also remember nothing worth dying for, just pick your pieces and move on. thanks |

1. Whitney Houston Whitney Houston was everybody’s favorite singer. She was also a producer and an actress, starring in hugely successful movies like The Bodyguard and The Preacher’s Wife. In 2009, the Guinness World Records named her the most awarded female act ever, adding to the, well, list of accolades she’d already received. Despite all these, she was addicted to drugs – a habit she (is said to have) picked up from her husband and partner – Bobby Brown. She died on the 11th of February 2012, as a result of drowning due to intoxication.

Celebrities / Tops Of Celebrities Who Were Ruined By Drugs by ebube93: 6:41am On Dec 01, 2018 |
Many celebrities find themselves getting addicted to either drugs or alcohol, ruining not only their career but their lives as a whole. We have curated a list of some celebrities whose careers have been ruined by excessive consumption of alcohol and drugs. We don’t know if you’ll enjoy it, but share to discourage someone from addictive substances. 2. Amy Winehouse Born 14th, September 1983, Amy was an English singer and songwriter who was known for her deep contralto vocals and eclectic mix of musical genres. Everyone who knew her personally said she was a sweetheart, but she was also addicted to alcohol. In ****, she died as a result of alcohol poisoning 3. Majek Fashek Once upon a time, Majekodunmi Fasheke was the biggest music act from Nigeria. He was the first African to perform on the now-defunct US legendary talk show – Late Night Show with David Letterman and he was once signed to Interscope Records. During the course of his career, he worked with acts like Michael Jackson, Snoop Dogg, Tracy Chapman, Jimmy Cliff and Beyoncé. Unfortunately, his addiction to drugs ruined his career, and life. He was checked into a rehabilitation facility in 2015 and is making an attempt to return to the music industry. 4. Britney Spears Britney Spears was born in 1981 and is especially popular for her album, Oops! I did it again. She was so big that she was once described as the biggest female pop star on earth, but she became addicted to drugs and everything fell apart. Today, she has lost millions of fans, endorsement deals, and is a shadow of her former self. 5. Lindsay Lohan Lindsay started her career as a child, and she was everybody’s sweetheart. It was overwhelming to watch her grow from that cheeky little girl to, well, a woman with numerous mug shots from post-drunken sprees. Coupled with kleptomania, she hasn’t had an easy adult life, and this has cost her a lot in revenue money. 6. DMX Earl ‘DMX’ Simmons is an American rapper, ruff-ryder, record producer and actor known for his gruff style of rapping and his gangsta music. He dominated the rap/Hip-Hop scene in the late 90’s/early 2000’s dropping albums like “It’s dark and hell is hot”, “And then there was X”, etc. He is the first rapper in history to release two number one albums in the same year, and the only artist in history to release 5 consecutive albums that debuted at number one. All this is to show you how great his life was until he succumbed to drug abuse. Today he is broke (after filing for bankruptcy) and a complete shadow of himself. 7. Hank Anuku Hanks Anuku was one of the biggest actors in Nollywood in the early 2000s. Because of his foreign accent, he was usually cast in “I just got back” and/or ‘bad guy’ roles and he executed them really well. But his fate changed because of drugs and alcohol. He dropped off the radar and even though he was a Special Assistant to then Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, his addiction affected him mentally. He reportedly sought help from TB Joshua, got cured of his addictions, and has since relocated to Ghana, where he has naturalized and is now Nana Kwame Fifi Kakra Anuku. 8. Charlie Sheen There was a time when Charlie Sheen was the most eligible bachelor in Hollywood, and the world. He was so loved and admired because of his huge acting talent and his character on shows like 2 and a Half Men. But today, his name is synonymous with wild nights, drugs binges, notorious playboy lifestyle and the revelation he is HIV positive, and knowingly infected many women. Sad.. 9. Tara Reid Remember Vicky in American Pie? Ah well, the once beautiful woman succumbed to drugs and alcohol, and her life never remained the same. A surgery session gone wrong plus series of divorces also got her looking nothing like the snack we all wanted to ‘eat’ when we saw American Pie that year. Sigh. 10. Macaulay Culkin As kids, we all watched Home Alone, Richie Rich, and we all loved it. Both movies were funny, hugely successful and established Macaulay Culkin as the most successful child actor of the early 90’s. Unfortunately, he fell off the radar after becoming addicted to drugs and alcohol. His forays in the music industry have not borne fruits and his attempt to return to making movies have ultimately been unsuccessful. Don’t do drugs kids.

Phones / Phone Drop Text Between Iphone 8 And Iphone X by ebube93: 11:51am On Nov 09, 2017 |
Breaking the screen of your iPhone X will cost you $279 to repair. But if you take Apple at its word that it used the “most durable glass ever in a smartphone, front and back” then it’s unlikely you’ll ever need to pay for repairs. Except reality shatters this illusion, if you’ll pardon the pun. SquareTrade specializes in selling extended warranty for gadgets, so its team puts them through rigorous tests to determine the risk of damage. The scores show increased risk due to all the glass on current-gen iPhones, but the X is especially susceptible. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus scored 67 and 74 on the Breakability scale respectively, medium and medium-high risk. The Galaxy Note8 is at high risk, 80. The iPhone X? 90 out of 100. Watching the video you can see why. In the side drop test, one single fall was enough to completely blank out the right third of the screen, rendering the phone unusable. This seems to be the most dangerous scenario as it did the most internal damage. But other tests show that the glass is very easy to crack and FaceID broke in two out of four tests. When falling on its back, the iPhone X got away with only cosmetic damaged – cracked rear glass. That’s a $550 repair bill, though. The one test where the iPhone X fared well was the underwater test. Basically any impact will lead to cracked glass and there’s a high chance of a component or two failing. A good case will improve the survivability of the phone and is probably a must if you don’t buy Apple Care+ ($200). SquareTrade is offering two years of protection for $130 ($30 buys you a third year). https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=6&v=T_OT1FQSWuU

Sports / Ex-stoke Defender Teixeira Dies Aged 25 (photo) by ebube93: 10:05am On Nov 06, 2017 |
The centre-back passed away on Sunday after reportedly suffering a heart attack in Brazil Former Stoke City defender Dionatan Teixeira has died of a suspected heart attack at the age of 25. The Brazilian centre-back, who had been playing for Moldovan side Sheriff Tiraspol, reportedly passed away in his homeland on Sunday while playing a game of football with friends. He is survived by his wife and daughter. Teixeira signed for Stoke in 2014 after a trial and spent three years at the bet365 Stadium. After a season on loan with Fleetwood Town, Teixeira made just two appearances for Stoke's senior side before being released in January 2017 and snapped up by Sheriff. He made 10 appearances as Sheriff lifted the Moldovan league title last season. The Potters expressed their condolences with Teixeira's family after hearing the news of his passing. Chief executive Tony Scholes told the club's website: “Dionatan was a hugely popular member of our squad and it’s difficult to comprehend that he has passed away at such a young age. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to his young family and friends at such a difficult time.” Sheriff also released a statement, saying the entire club had been shaken by the news. "The whole team of FC Sheriff, from simple workers to the management of the club, is shocked by the tragic news. The pain of loss is great. "We express our sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of Dionatan. He will remain forever in our hearts."

Sports / Santi Carzola Injury (the Big Deal Behind Football And Its Money) by ebube93: 5:51pm On Nov 03, 2017 |
The Spanish midfielder has struggled through a hellish year, and could have had his foot amputated, such was the severity of the issue. Injury-ravaged Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has revealed that he almost lost his foot during his lay-off. The talented 32-year-old has not played for Arsenal since October 2016, but his problems go back further, with the 11 months leading up to that proving equally hellish. Achilles tendonitis has been the problem, with the former Villarreal star suffering from the condition on two separate occasions. The second bout is still keeping him out of action and almost cost him his foot due to infection. The midfielder has undergone eight separate surgeries since his initial Achilles injury, and has even needed to cover the grisly wound with the skin from his arm. And Cazorla has shed light on his injury nightmare in an interview with Spanish newspaper Marca . Cazorla told the newspaper: "The doctor told me if I was able to walk with my kid on the garden I should be thankful. "The problem was that it did not heal and the wounds would reopen, become infected." Cazorla worked with Spanish doctor Mikel Sanchez throughout his nightmare, with the specialist apparently claiming he had never seen such a case in his career. "He saw that I had a tremendous infection, that I had damaged part of the bone and damaged the Achilles tendon," Cazorla added. It remains to be seen whether Cazorla will ever be able to get back to his very best, but he is said to be targeting a return in January.

Education / Histor Of F-word by ebube93: 3:14pm On Apr 27, 2017 |
Once upon a time, the English population was decimated by the plague. The King was so concerned about the shrinking number of his subjects that he ordered his people to reproduce. His proclamation, “Fornicate Under Command of the King”—“Zap” for short—was the source of our favorite swearword. Unfortunately this story isn’t true, nor is pretty much any etymology of a swearword that involves an acronym. Shit cannot be blamed on cargoes of manure exploding in the middle of the Atlantic (Ship High in Transit), while the British word naff cannot be attributed to “not available for fucking.” (Why naff needed an acronym is puzzling. It originated as a word in the 1960s gay slang language Polari—isn’t that interesting enough?) The two great exceptions are snafu (situation normal: all bleeped up) and fubar (bleeped up beyond all recognition), which grew out of the military’s RFA (rage for acronyms) in World War II. Bleep isn’t an Anglo-Saxon word either. Some of today’s swearwords did indeed originate in Old English, including shit, arse, turd, and the British bollocks. The f-word is of Germanic origin, related to Dutch, German, and Swedish words for “to strike” and “to move back and forth.” It first appears, though, only in the 16th century, in a manuscript of the Latin orator Cicero. An anonymous monk was reading through the monastery copy of De Officiis (a guide to moral conduct) when he felt compelled to express his anger at his abbot. “O d fuckin Abbot,” he scrawled in the margin of the text. We can be sure when this was because he helpfully recorded the date in another comment—1528. It is difficult to know whether the annotator intended “fucking” to mean “having sex,” as in “that guy is doing too much fucking for someone who is supposed to be celibate,” or whether he used it as an intensifier, to convey his extreme dismay; if the latter, it anticipates the first recorded use by more than three hundred years. Either is possible, really—John Burton, the abbot in question, was a man of questionable monastic morals. It is interesting as well that while the annotator has no problem spelling out “fucking” (except for the g), he refuses to write out a word that is most likely damned. To this monk, damnation is the real obscenity, the one that can be hinted at but not expressed in full. There are at least two instances of Bleep dated before that of our monk, but scholars sometimes deny them the glory of first use because one is Scottish and one appears in code, with a Latin verb conjugation. The Scots poet William Dunbar, himself a former Franciscan friar, penned these lines (translated here into modern English) sometime before his death, in 1513: He embraced tight, he kissed and groped, As if he were overcome with desire. Yet it seemed from his behavior he would have bleeped [fukkit]. The coded example is also from a poem, dated 1475-1500, this one attacking the Carmelite friars of the town of Ely. It is macaronic, that is, written partly in English and partly in Latin, with the dirty bits “concealed” in the most basic of ciphers: Non sunt in cœli, quia gxddbov xxkxzt pg ifmk. ...Fratres cum knyvys goth about and txxkxzv nfookt xxzxkt. For each letter of code, you simply substitute the previous letter of the alphabet. From the first line, making allowances for late medieval spelling, the decoding gets you “fuccant wivys of heli.” So the first line comes out in modern translation, “They [the monks] are not in heaven, because they Bleep the wives of Ely.” The second bit of code unciphers to “swivyt mennis wyvis,” with the whole line reading “Brothers with knives go about and swive men’s wives.” Swive was a direct word for copulation in the Middle Ages, familiar to readers of Chaucer. To this author, it was apparently as bad a word as its synonym, also requiring at least the pretence of concealment. It is unclear whether the words are censored because swive and Bleep are thought to be obscene, worse in themselves than the other words in the poem, or because the sexual sins of which the author accuses the monks are so horrible they cannot be stated outright. What is clear is that you didn’t want to mess with any Carmelite friar looking for oppljf. Bleep appears to have hit its stride by the late 16th century. In 1598, John Florio published an Italian-English dictionary intended to teach people these languages as they were really spoken. Florio’s dictionary is thus full of bleeps. He defines the Italian fottere as “to jape, to sard, to Bleep, to swive, to occupy,” for example, while fottitrice is “a woman fucker, swiver, ... etc.” and fottitore the male equivalent. But while the f-word was common in the period, it was not a swearword. It was simply a direct and increasingly impolite word for sexual intercourse. Only in the early to mid-nineteenth century did it begin to be used non-literally, as most swearwords are, to insult and offend others, to relieve pain, and to express extremes of emotion, negative and positive. In other words, it took roughly three hundred years to make the transition from “he bleeped her” to “that’s fucking awesome!” |
