As far as the schools are run by the FG, theu can be indiscipline. You can always call someone in the ministry to help out.

But if the ministry has no say and the highest decision making body is a board, it is easy to deal with you and everyone else

Ha! Does he actually know that he would need an act of NASS plus the states also do not possess the funds required to fund these schools. The states can't even fund their own schools not to mention adding more to it.

Universities should be allowed to run by themselves, allowed to set tuition charges and use the money to oay for the staff and other such needs. FG schools come in only when huge projects are needed. In the way, each school can set their wages and be autonomous.

That is the only way out

I am not holding brief for ASUU or the government, but a working government should negotiate with any striking sect.
Cutting corners is detrimental to the country. Just like advocating for another counter government when the one in place is not working. Wount the government see that as a treasonable offence? They did it with NLC and ever since then, they have not being able to oppose government policies detrimental to you and I. Its the masses that still suffers the after consequences of these actions. We should learn to hold those elected officers accountable no matter what. Have you tried to get an objective view and reason why this strike is lingering?

Most people in power are not educated either they are feeling remorse for university student like us.
Imagine the month, student stayed at home and still staying yet no actions taken till now.

Govt—Car manufacturing plant..
University-The vehicle..
Lecturers-The engine..
You/your school fees-The fuel.

Not holding brief for anybody, but dont you think this your idea is counter productive? The Government allocate huge salaries etc to elected and non elected officers who are there to serve the people and the lecturers and civil servants who has risen through the ranks and files are being paid peanuts. Dont you think its appalling? The Government should rather cut the cost of governance and channel the monies into other productive ventures. Do I need to tell you that no other country practices democracy as expensive as Nigeria Government in terms of salaroes paid to elected officers in government.

We should start from there. Our leaders are just callous and insensitive to the plight of Nigerian workers.
