A time came when it started snapping timing belts
Like 4 times
The 1st two times. No damage
3rd tiMe bent valves wch caused lotta money too fix
We checked so many factors that could cause d ish , even replaced one pulley
Then it happened again
Bent valves
Argh
Mech advised to double the gasket so if it snaps no harm wil be done ...
I never had an idea
I told him to do it, and some adjustment were made on d belts wch made a lot of diff , it didn't cut anymore till it was sold
...I didn't notice a change in performance tho

God bless. Doubling gasket saves valve bending especially in cars using belt in place of chain, the loss of power is very minimal and not even that noticeable.

You are mixing the points. Some double gasket to suppress overheating, I see that as a bad idea.

Others double gasket to save the original valve from bending to due to timing belt stripping/cutting. Though, they lose a minimal fire power. But no problem with the engine. Most especially in Volkswagen vehicles(golf sharan...), opel used for long transport. U can't be changing cylinder head everytime u cut a timing belt.

Yeah, I was amazed too. Honestly, I did not even reach 150-160km/hr. My max speed was 140km/hr. That car de give me joy (in terms of stability, fuel 👌 and movement)

Just today I race with corolla 2010 from minna down to ilorin with my golfMK IV 1.8L 20 valve engine, honestly na me de wait for the car

What's now the best oil for golf 4if total quartz 5000 is not suitable?

I have 1.8 20v golf 4. Which oil will u recommend. Currently using LUBCON super V.

I see this product as preventive measure and not curative. It wont work on heavy smoking vehicle.

Afternoon fellows. Please how much is the automatic gear of golf 4 1.8L 20V. Mine no longer select when hot and my mechanic said the leather as been stripped off and it's visible from the drain ATF.

When I kickstart it shows "SERVICE INSPECTION" under the mileage on the dashboard. I recently service the ATF, engine oil, air flow meter (changed).

What does that "SERVICE INSPECTION" indicate?

Pontiac vibe as same engine as matrix and corolla(1.6, 1.8 engine)
The engine is fuel efficient,maintenance is good depending on the handler(driver)

Price tag are normal in naija auto market,it left for the buyer to beat it down and not ur right to question the price. Honestly both of u behave childish and a shame. I can boldly tell u(confirm from PAN kaduna) naija assembled 406 automatic never give any gear issue and its only peculiar with certain country produce chain and not generalize to all 406 product

I once ask a PAN media handler,he said the auto gear fault is mostly synonymous with certain product chain line and not generalized as reported. He give assurance abt nigerian assembled 406 and some other countries. Though i couldnt specify which exact country product line possess that peculiar factory fault.
