These individuals are my mentors and role models that hold me "accountable" in these areas

A beautiful woman with bad character is marriageable; an ugly woman with good character is also marriageable -- they will both be wives; but an ugly woman with bad character does not live in a husband's house.
I have to make a decision and my heart says one thing my head another.
I like the sound of your introductory sentence. My advice: Follow your head. You can change someone's physical appearance after marriage but definitely not their character.
CultureRe: How Far Into The Future Should One Care? by echelon(m): 6:50pm On Jul 16, 2008
huxley:
In the light of what we have achieved in such a relatively short time since the dawn of modern science and technologies, what is your vision for the world in 2000 years from now?
The tone of the sentence in bold suggests you are talking of positive projections alone and not the negative ones.

huxley:
Basically, how far into the future should we care about the plight of the world? If your concerns were only restricted to the next few decades, what economic, social, environmental, educational and developmental policies would you disregard as a result of your limited care and concern?
Do not be horiffied. I do have environmental concerns so I work and live not to impact the environment too negatively. I'm concerned at what the oil companies are doing to our environment by their E&P activities, I'm concerned about the long term effect of CO2 emmitted in the environment.

What I'm saying is that I can't sit down and waste my time thinking about what the world will be like in 2000 years time. I'd rather do something about things I don't like or act to make things the way I want them to be

huxley:
Case in point: NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) is currently investing billions of dollars investigating ways of securing the earth against asteroid impact. Given that such impacts have happen many times in the past and that it is a certainty that it will happen again, is this a worthwhile endeavour?
No. To me, it's not a worthwile endeavour. They should invest all that money in people. Billions of people all over the world are suffering in abject poverty.

CultureRe: Ikwerre Names & Their Meanings by echelon(m): 5:35pm On Jul 14, 2008
Zhea:
in many names i see "nye" - what does this mean? is it igbo or ikwerre or both?
nye in Igbo is the verb "to give"

Hence
Chinenye - God gives

ow11:
Even if I am to assume Ikwerre is a dialect of Igbo, It still doesn't mean they wouldn't have names peculiar to them. I think Ihuoma and Iheoma mean the same thing but are particular to different parts of Igboland and would assume anyone from a particular area would name their child according to their area ( if Iheoma is particular to your area, it would be strange to name your child Ihuoma and vice versa).
In Igbo,

Ihuoma = Good face
Iheoma = Good thing

They are not the same, obviously.
CultureRe: Ikwerre Names & Their Meanings by echelon(m): 12:44pm On Jul 14, 2008
ow11:
Yes giving your child an Igbo name isn't out of order because like I said earlier the two languages are painfully similar.
Painfully similar? Why so? Why painful?

The Q is this: Are you happy with the bank job? If so you can get an MBA and continue with your job. That you studied Mech Engr. doesn't mean you must practise. On the other hand if you are not really happy with the job, you can bid your time, save some money and go for further studies in Engr. or even get an engr. job. It's all about interests and passion.
