chaloskyx:Asides politicians, who else has the government treated right in this country? These people lack what it takes to protect them at work and secure their future and you want them to stay mute. You simply don't have an idea of what the system is like. |
One of the problems we have in Nigeria is the fact that people deliberately ignore the truth. Quite a number are also too lazy to find out the facts. Isn't it obvious to all that the government has failed woefully. What percentage of the 2020 budget was allocated to health. For those that have a clue about the health system in Nigeria, you will realize that health workers have been our unsung heroes for a long time. The government whether federal/state or local has never been serious about healthcare. When you ignore people and refuse to do the needful, they take the only option they have. We are first human beings. The strike is a warning strike. Services to covid 19 patients not affected for now. They are not callous. They also have a right to their entitlement. We all know that the only language our government understand is STRIKE |
tenderlaw:God bless you. Provide adequate manpower, standard equipment and infrastructure, and a functional health insurance before you start passing bills like this. Ilu Yi to sun mi. |
It's most likely a case of purperal psychosis. Having a single baby can be overwhelming not to talk of three. She should be fine once she receives the right treatment. |
Please, kindly help with a cost comparison as someone asked earlier. |
Nice job. Please how big is this building (dimension) and what was the total square metre of the roof? |
It's really unfair. It's like shifting the goal post in the middle of the game. It's wrong to change the content of a bouquet without even sensitising their customers. I wish I didn't rush to renew my subscription this afternoon. As much as I know I have to pay for the services, I have a right to be treated fairly. It's bad enough to increase the tariff but it's simply fraudulent to change the contents without due notification. We have a legal right to fight for this. I wish I was a lawyer . This is nothing short of an economic and financial crime. |
Kind gesture! Why is a part of me thinking it's gonna be in the middle of nowhere. Nevertheless, it's worth commending. |
Helen4 said it all. Keep the baby and keep your marriage. It's not that difficult. You're strong enough to do it. All the best. |
Where exactly? Use a landmark and pix pls. |
I would rather commend the late Doctor and the Lagos State Goverment. That minister gave a couple of misleading reports and would rather buy cars for the ministry than do the needful for the poorly equiped hospitals we have all over the country. |
bunmioguns: what do you call it in your native language?Oh yeah! I did!. As a corper in Bama, borno state. This wonderful piece of art and local science was our source of cool drinking water in a land of intense heat and extremely poor power supply. |
The much anticipated drama starts. I see chukwu as a pawn in the hand of the chess master. Ebola outbreak was the much awaited opportunity to get their hands on additional funds that can be siphoned. By now, one would expect the hospitals to be flooded with protective equipments for health workers. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. I can only hope that this isn't true. |
Blockus:You need a brain transplant. |
NMA SUSPENDS STRIKE. DETAILS LATER. http://www.medicalworldnigeria.com/2014/08/nigerian-medical-association-suspends-strike |
It is obvious that health has never been a priority for us as nigerians. I am so sure GEJ's approach would be different if he were to patronise one of these hospitals under compulsion. Did anyone notice the speed @ which they had an automated sanitizer dispenser installed for themselves? Yet the isolation centre still looks like a glorified poultry farm. They take good care of themselves, take what belongs to us and leave us to fight ourselves. Greedy as we may see the Doctors, I don't think any of them earn up to 1 million naira a month. Would that be too much for someone who is skilled enough to save lives? Only about 30-40 % of our health needs are being met by the existing health facilities and personel. We're satisfied with the remaining being in the hand of Quacks. Untill every Nigerian is bold enough to fight for what he or she deserves, our cruel leaders will continue in their wicked ways. |
uncleu: Resident doctors in Nigeria tend to forget that they are in for short training program. They are not indispensable. The consultants can run any hospital with house officers and medical officers. There are thousands of young doctors with primaries waiting and looking for places to do residency. Lift this suspension after six months, throw application process open to everybody and see if resident doctors will go on strike again....and what if the consultants join the strike? |
[quote author=bushdoc9919]Look,,,,here is the scoop. Residency training in Nigeria goes like this.....you write an exam called the primary (of which there are two flavours....West African, which carries more power....and National/Nigerian...which is just as hard). After you pass....you then get a place to do the residency (Which involves job interviews/exams). Then once you get the job...you work as a junior resident for two-three years....after which you write an exam that if you pass (it is a very tough exam) you become a senior resident. Then another three years....after which you write the exam that if you pass means you become a consultant. ALSO....you do a research project during the time you are a resident....and THAT project is part of your final exam for consultant. So, sacking all the residents....means you have to replace like for like. And a common medical officer(Like me!)cannot just slip into the shoes of a senior resident....or even junior resident. To put it simply.....it is a disaster waiting to happen. And poor Mr Consultant would have a hard time of it....doing most of the jobs that senior resident is supposed to do.And students...the young medical students...would have a hard time of it. It isn't that simple. You cannot replace experience.[/ quote] God bless you! |
anytexy: Doctors are not suppose to go on strike no matter what. Because they are under essential duty just like Army, police, fire fighters etc. These professions their duty is to protect life also. Let it be documented that doctor should never go on strike I beg.Haven't you heard of mutiny in the military? Remember there's always a limit to everything. |
laplace12: There are more than 16000 unemployed doctors waiting to take that jobHaba! 16000 wetin? That's so false. |

miriamP: dullard. Its only in govt hospitals drs are relevant and d reason? Protocols. We are treating the patients based on our own directives as docs are nower to be found and guess what? Dey are doing fine. Go to private hospitals, a nurse can man a hospital without the doc, she can handle any emergency, send for tests , prescribe drugs, treat and discharge ! The doc only makes occassional appearances. Ur relevance in govt hospitals is just out of due process so please wake up from ur slumber, u guys re just ignorant douche bags and ur proud heads are just atomic bombs waiting to xplode till u get some reasoning into ur calcified skulls. U cannot do anything without d members of JOHESU take it or leave it, u can ask my grandma in d village. Even she knows that. And you're bold enough to boast about your illegal acts and atrocities on a forum like this. It is well with our nation. |
miriamP: ]If u read and it's difficult for you to understand, simply ask for help. You do not deserve my time. |
Wandering why doctors are superior? They spend 6-7 years being trained with a possibilty of resits and repeats? They rotate thru all aspects of medicine starting from the natural sciences to the basic medical sciences to laboratory medicine to pathology and pharmacology before going to clinical medicine(Trained to be jack of all trades and master of all). Back in those days, the jamb cut off for medicine usually ranks among the highest, I doubt if it has changed. For every academic year, a medical student is not even entitled to holidays translating to one extra semester per year meaning 2 extra academic years embedded in the same time duration of acquiring a first degree, yet he spends minimum of 6 academic years. I want to assume that anyone that wants to be a director should at least have a good knowlege of all the aspects of what he wants to manage. Once that condition is met then why not. If not the gateman and the cleaners would be aiming to be the CMD soon. Be warned! |
