The use of Card reader was not previously included in the electoral laws of Nigeria. It is one of the changes introduced in the new Electoral Act that was recently passed by the Senate.
Under the new Act, the use of card reader is now mandatory. Failure to use it by whoever is authorised will amount to years in prison.
