Message:
Philips was a church planter, obedient, submissive to authority, had a servant spirit and was a man of good report. Beyond these, another valuable trait he had which made God use him mightily for signs and wonder is the fact that he was a man of total commitment to God. Philip served God, but it did not end with him alone; he ensured that his family members followed the same godly path. Like Joshua who declared to the children of Israel that he and his household had decided to follow the Lord alone (Joshua 24:15), Philip decided in a determined way that everyone in his household would serve God. In our Bible reading, we are told that he had four virgin daughters, who were all saved, filled with the Holy Spirit and operated in the gift of prophecy. This clearly shows us that he led his household in the way of the Lord. It also means that he was a good role model to his children. They saw how real the Christian faith was in the life of their father and they desired it. Do your children follow the Christ you claim to follow? Are you a good role model for them? Does your life attract them to become true children of God?

Joshua in Joshua 24:15 said,
“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Contrary to this stance, it is very unfortunate that today, some parents make excuse for the lukewarmness or even godlessness exhibited by their children and wards. Such parents may say, “Sir, you don’t understand; my children are now in the university”. Are they implying that children in the university should not obey their parents anymore, or that such children are incapable of doing God’s will? Some will even say, “We believe that when it comes to the issue of faith, it should be voluntary”. Is it alright if your children voluntarily go to hell? No way! No child should be left to take such a foolish decision! It is your duty to instruct your household after you in the way of the Lord. My biological children, who are now adults, can testify to how I raised them up. None of them dared to come late for morning devotion. If you were late, you would remain standing or be spanked. Joshua commanded his family to serve the Lord. No wonder he was able to command the sun to stand still and it did. If you can instruct your household to genuinely serve God, you will be able to command what God created, and they will obey you. Who is in charge of your home: you or your children?

KEY POINT:
If you raise your children well to follow and serve the Lord, He will reward you, but if you don’t, He will judge you.

Chelsea should turn their attention to Monaco full back Benjamin Mendy now their move for Alex Sandro looks more and more far-fetched.

The Frenchman would be an ideal solution at left back, and should be top priority for Antonio Conte’s side despite having been linked for some time with Manchester City.
Just as Chelsea’s push for Juventus wing back Sandro has seemed to grind to a halt; so has Manchester City’s pursuit of Mendy stalled, and this could create an opening for the Blues to steal the Monaco man from under their noses.

AC Milan reached an agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Leonardo Bonucci, the Rossoneri announced on Friday.

After seven years with the Bianconeri, Bonucci is set to leave Milan to join their Serie A rivals for a €42 million fee, reaching a reported five-year deal with Vincenzo Montella's side.

The 30-year-old defender arrived in Milan earlier in the day, and the move will become official pending a medical.

The Rossoneri initially offered €30m for the 30-year-old, but Juve refused to accept less than €40m for a centre-back who played a key role in their Serie A and Coppa Italia success and journey to the Champions League final last season.

The Italy international was linked with a move to the Premier League last summer, with Chelsea and Manchester City interested, but opted to remain in Turin.

Nigeria Customs Services (NCS) is warning fraudulent bidders involved in making unrealistic bids to stay off its e-auction platform or risk prosecution.

Mr Joseph Attah, Customs Public Relations Officer, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja that the service would not spare those undesirable elements making fraudulent and unrealistic bids with the sole aim of polluting the exercise.

According to him, the management of Customs has began moves to reprogramme the platform to make it inaccessible to fraudulent bidders who are discouraging genuine bidders from participating.

Attah said the second batch of 48 hours bidding process that started on Monday at noon and ended on Wednesday at noon was loaded with 115 vehicles and all were bidded for and supposedly won.

” I used the word supposedly because our experience revealed that some bad elements who are criminally minded have launched into platform and started bidding bogus and unrealistic figures just to spoil it.

” You will see where a bidding is ongoing for an item with a reserved bid of N300,000 and people are offering N350,000 to N500,000 and all of a sudden you will see someone from nowhere quoting N5 million to N8 million.

“It is obvious they are jokers who think we are fooling around; remember the rule is that in the event the highest bidder cannot pay within five days, the item reverts to the second highest bidder.

“So what these people have done is to pair themselves up, where one person bids reasonably say N400,000 for an item with a reserved bid of N200,000, the other drops an outrageous figure like N8 million just to ward off potential bidders.

“We know the vehicle is not worth half of that amount in the market. This is unfair,” Attah said.

Attah said that the service would be reprogramming the system in such a way that one cannot bid beyond a certain percentage of the reserved bid or what the average bidders are offering.

He said the system would not allow any bidder to make such exaggerated bids, adding that the system would detect the bidders with their Tax Identification Number (TIN).

“Those bidder will no longer participate in future bid aside from risking of prosecution for such act.

“Again, the system is being reprogrammed in such a way that when the winner fails to pay in five days, the item will revert back into the pool for fresh bidding, instead of going to the second highest bidder.

“The management knew why the TIN was made a mandatory pre-bidding requirement. It gives us your picture, address, phone number, email and other vital information. With this TIN, we will go after these fraudsters,” Attah said.

While giving an assessment of the second batch of bidding process, Attah said the system recorded 2,001 registered bidders.

He added that out of the figure, 1,919 were enabled and participated in the bidding.

“We want to assure the general public that the NCS is determined that e-auction platform succeeds.

“We are motivated by the benefits of the e-auction platform that includes security, opportunity for better revenue generation and the fact that it presents equal opportunity to all Nigerians.

“As a service, we want to continue to engage the general public through a process that is transparent, accountable and capable of safeguarding our integrity,” he added.

Attah said that at the first batch of 48 hours bidding process, 43 bidders emerged winners.

“Out of this figure, 42 have paid for their bids and began collection at the Ogun State Command where the vehicles are located.

Retired Col. Hameed Ali, Comptroller-General of Customs, on July 3 in Abuja, inaugurated the platform aimed at giving all Nigerians equal opportunities to partake in bidding for seized vehicles and to increase customs’ revenue.

Pre-marital counseling is an important ritual that has become a part of the fabric of preparation for marriage. Most churches have committees specially constituted to put couples through various, sometimes, very rigorous sessions to ensure proper preparedness and readiness for the inevitable emotional, physical and also financial challenges of this school of several examinations but no graduation. 

As part of the routine counseling workup are several medical tests carried out to ensure physical fitness of the couple, most times with emphasis on tests for HIV and genotype. Others will include pregnancy test to make sure there are only two individuals being joined on the wedding day. Whilst the importance of the aforementioned tests cannot be overemphasized, there’s one very important test that is often overlooked in marriage counselling and it’s the one for blood grouping. 

There are two major blood grouping systems which are of importance; the ABO system and Rhesus system. In the ABO system, there are A, B, AB and O blood types, while that of the Rhesus system could be either positive or negative. That is why you are often told your blood group is “A positive”, “O negative” etc.

Whilst there may also be issues of compatibility with the ABO system, the greater problem lies with the Rhesus system. Now if a person’s blood type is Rhesus-positive, he or she has Rhesus factor antigens on the red blood cell membrane surface and vice versa, if a person has Rhesus-negative blood, he or she is without the Rhesus factor antigen.

When a Rhesus-negative mother is impregnated by a Rhesus-positive father, it could result in either a Rhesus-positive or Rhesus negative baby. The problem however arises when the Rhesus-negative mother is pregnant with a Rhesus-positive baby. In such a case, the baby’s blood will be perceived as foreign invaders, the way viruses or bacteria are perceived and will be attacked by the mother’s blood cells thereby harming the baby.

If the mother is pregnant with her first baby, it is not as much of a concern. However, when the Rhesus-positive child is born, the mother’s body creates and builds up fighter cells waiting for any subsequent pregnancy with a Rhesus-positive baby to attack and kill it. 

This is, often, the reason why a woman will be losing advanced pregnancies serially and people will be blaming her for eating them up or questioning the ancestors and sacrificing to the gods of the land. Now you know! 

The good news is that there is an injectable drug that could be given after the delivery of the first baby and subsequent ones to avert this situation, and the last time I checked, it costs close to forty thousand Naira and must be given within 72 hours of delivery to be effective. 

It’s therefore important to test intending couples for their blood group, assess their compatibility and counsel them appropriately. Better still, it’s good for unmarried ladies and gentlemen of marriageable age to know and share information concerning their blood groups with their spouses to prepare for this situation. 

Expectant couples who have this piece of information can commence antenatal visits to get their blood checked amongst other tests and get proper care. Those affected should start saving towards purchase of that drug as part of their preparation to welcome a their new baby.

Lastly, armed with this information, women who have already suffered from this misfortune ignorantly should not be blamed, but encouraged to seek medical help from a competent health care practitioner.

Recall that 37 contestants were chosen from across the country to participate in the ‘Labour Room’ Reality Show where questions of national concerns would be raised and addressed. Ahead of the kick-off of the show, the thoroughly-selected housemates went through intensive sessions to have a better picture of what their 60-day stay in the mansion would look like and to understand their roles as housemates. Captains of industries from all walks of life were on ground to facilitate, and drill the contestants on the ideals of the show. One of the organizer’s strong positions is to sensitize against sexual abuse, immoral relationship, and other immoralities.   Relatively, the show will address the question of religious and ethnic tolerance. Addressing newsmen at the conclusion of the training session, the National Coordinator of the project, Comrade Isaac Balami David reiterated that the organization cannot allow immorality and socio-economic decadence to fester, and as such, the Nigerian youth should take up their destiny in their hands. The show is being organized and powered by the Nigeria Rebirth Foundation, a project inaugurated at the Banquet hall of the Presidential villa in March, 2016. The show has as its grand patron – Mrs. Aisha Buhari, the wife of the President of Nigeria, Alhaji Ibrahim Coomassie, Nigeria’s former and longest-serving Inspector General of Police, as Chairman of its governing board and the Ooni of Ife as its Royal Father.

 Townsend wаѕ fоund stabbed оn hіѕ porch bу neighbors, аnd hе wаѕ tаkеn tо а hospital, whеrе hе lаtеr died оf hіѕ wounds. Townsend allegedly brandished а knife durіng thе altercation thаt quickly gоt оut оf control, аnd hіѕ daughter stabbed him. Police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards, confirmed thаt оnе оf thе daughters stabbed Townsend, аnd hе mаdе uр thе story tо protect her. Police ѕаіd thеrе hаd bееn а previous history оf domestic violence аt thе home.

Abu Dhabi’s Etisalat has terminated its management agreement with its Nigerian arm and given the business time to phase out the brand in Nigeria.

Hatem Dowidar, the chief executive of Etisalat International told Reuters on Monday, the company has given few weeks to operators of the brand to phase out Etisalat in Nigeria

The Chief Executiv said the company, with a 45 percent stake in the Nigerian business, is transferring its shares to a trustee after talks to renegotiate a $1.2 billion loan failed.

Dowidar said all UAE shareholders of Etisalat Nigeria, including state-owned investment fund Mubadala, had exited the company and left the board and management.

He said discussions were ongoing with Etisalat Nigeria to provide technical support, adding that it could continue to use the brand for another three weeks before phasing it out.

“There’s a new board and we are not part of that company. We have sent our termination letter for the management agreement,” he said.

Etisalat Nigeria took out the loan with 13 local lenders in 2013 to refinance an existing loan and fund expansion but struggled to repay four years later.

When asked if the company will return to the country anytime soon, Dowidar said “the train has left the station on that one. Being in that market as an investor … are we willing to risk more money compared to the reward for the long-term?”

“Etisalat is among the top two in markets such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Egypt and Afghanistan,” he said.

“(Nigerian) lenders may try to continue to operate the company until they find a buyer (or) they may merge the company with the existing players in Nigeria.

“The brand agreement in either of these two scenarios won’t be a long-term thing, so we take out the brand; in the long term Etisalat won’t be in Nigeria.”
