**How Nigerian Billionaires Are Bulldozing Corruption and Transforming the System** Nigeria’s billionaires are stepping up to expose corruption, ensuring greater accountability in the country. Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola have been at the forefront of this effort, targeting corrupt practices in critical sectors. Their actions have led to significant consequences, including resignations, imprisonment, and systemic reforms. **Dangote's Fight Against Corruption in the Petroleum Sector** In December 2025, Aliko Dangote filed a petition with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) against Farouk Ahmed, the head of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). Dangote accused Ahmed of embezzling over $7 million, funding his children’s education in Switzerland, and colluding with international traders to undermine local refining efforts. He also criticized the continued issuance of import licenses that hurt domestic refineries like his $20 billion Dangote Refinery. The fallout was swift. Both Ahmed and Gbenga Komolafe, head of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), resigned within days. Dangote’s actions highlighted long-standing corruption in the oil and gas sector, forcing the government to nominate new leadership for these regulatory agencies. This bold move demonstrated how whistleblowing can expose inefficiencies and protect local industries. **Otedola’s Role in Tackling Corruption** Femi Otedola’s efforts have also shaken Nigeria’s corrupt systems. In 2012, Otedola exposed Farouk Lawan, then chairman of the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee on Fuel Subsidy. Lawan had demanded a $3 million bribe to remove Otedola’s company, Zenon Oil, from a list of firms accused of subsidy fraud. Working with the Department of State Services (DSS), Otedola provided marked bills and video evidence of Lawan accepting $500,000. This led to Lawan’s conviction and a seven-year prison sentence in 2021. Otedola’s influence extended to the financial sector. His whistleblowing and legal actions revealed corruption within First Bank of Nigeria, involving Oba Otudeko. Otudeko, accused of mismanaging funds and engaging in fraudulent practices, fled into exile to avoid prosecution in early 2025. Otedola’s actions forced reforms in the bank’s governance and underscored the importance of ethical leadership. **Commending the Efforts** Dangote and Otedola’s courage in exposing corruption is commendable. Their actions demonstrate how influential figures can use their platforms to foster accountability. The government’s willingness to act on these revelations, evidenced by the resignations and prosecutions, shows a growing commitment to fighting corruption. **Recommendations** 1. *Encourage Whistleblowing*: Protect whistleblowers with legal safeguards to ensure they can report corruption without fear. 2. *Enhance Digital Transparency*: Implement digital systems to track public funds, contracts, and regulatory processes. 3. *Strengthen Oversight*: Establish independent bodies to monitor regulatory agencies and ensure compliance. **Conclusion** The efforts of Dangote and Otedola highlight the power of whistleblowing in exposing corruption and driving systemic reforms. Their actions are a call to other stakeholders to prioritize transparency and accountability. **With continued vigilance and government support, Nigeria can build a more ethical and prosperous society** There's has never been a better time to be alive in Nigeria than what we are currently witnessing - God thank you! **As part of national crusade for a better Nigeria, share and join our WhatsApp Channel for updates on better Nigeria**

GBAM! Power Minister Drags Primate Ayodele To DSS Over N50million Spiritual Extortion The drama over Oyo State’s 2027 governorship race has taken a sensational twist as Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS), accusing Primate Elijah Ayodele of demanding a staggering N150 million and luxury “spiritual items” to secure his political victory. Adelabu, who has contested the Oyo governorship seat twice and is gearing up for another shot in 2027, alleged that the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church founder bombarded him with requests, prophecies, threats and financial demands after he refused to comply. Inside the Petition: ‘Blackmail, Extortion, False Prophecies’ In the petition dated October 13, 2025, and signed by his media aide Bolaji Tunji, the minister accused Ayodele of unleashing damaging prophecies after his “spiritual intercession” demands were rejected. TheCable reports that Ayodele allegedly instructed Adelabu to deliver 24 APC flags and a jaw-dropping list of “spiritual instruments,” including 1,000 trumpets/saxophones costing between N50 million and N130 million, depending on grade. He repeatedly urged the minister to deliver the items by early April, at one point writing: “Sir, I don’t do this, but because of the love I have for you.” He also claimed God instructed him to support Adelabu’s political destiny and insisted the minister would become governor of Oyo State. The cleric also encouraged the minister to “recite almu nasira 200 times,” adding that angels would “hear requests by 1am”. But when Adelabu told him the items were unaffordable, the relationship soured — and Ayodele allegedly took his prophecies public. Ayodele Fires Back From the Pulpit In viral video clips, the cleric declared that the minister had failed spiritually and would not become governor, describing his messages as a “warning from God”. He dared Adelabu to arrest or sue him. Adelabu’s Stand: ‘I Won’t Buy Power With Fetish Practices’ In his DSS petition, the minister said he turned down Ayodele’s requests because he believes public service should not be tied to “spiritual manipulation or fetish practices.” He accused the cleric of trying to tarnish his name after he refused to pay. “Under this guise, he had on several occasions demanded huge sums of money and expensive spiritual items, cumulatively amounting to over N150 million… The minister had consistently declined his requests.” The petition claims Ayodele’s prophecies became increasingly malicious, warning that he would fail because of his political association with the “Èmi Lòkan” slogan. Adelabu asked the DSS to investigate the cleric, force him to retract his prophecies, apologise, and face legal consequences. He also filed a similar petition with the Oyo State Police Command. Confronted by TheCable, the cleric denied any wrongdoing and insisted Adelabu was the one who first sought him out. Ayodele insisted he was never paid and that there was nothing illegal about setting a price for his services. Ayodele Speaks: I Can N1billion If I Want “I didn’t blackmail him. We didn’t have any transaction… I can sell my services for any amount. I can value it at N1 billion… It’s nobody’s business.” He maintained that he is blessed, charitable, and not dependent on any politician. “I’m big. I’m not poor. I take care of vulnerable people. I’m blessed in the Lord.” _Follow the link to join Nigeria and Global News Platform For More Updates And Infos_ https:///HnN1mOzkbNF1l7dEtADKPI?mode=wwt

Insecurity: *Kidnapping children is lesser evil than killing soldiers- Sheik Gumi* Islamic cleric Sheikh Gumi has described the kidnapping of school children as a “lesser evil” compared to killing soldiers, insisting that Nigeria must negotiate with bandits to prevent greater bloodshed. Speaking in an interview with the BBC shared on Tuesday, December 9, Gumi said “Saying that kidnapping children is a lesser evil than killing your soldiers, definitely is lesser. Killing is worse than, but they are all ev!l. It’s just a lesser evil. Not all ev!ls are of the same power.’’he said He cited previous incidents, including the mass abduction in Kebbi State, arguing that the victims were freed without fatalities. “So it’s a lesser evil than, like, what happened in Kebbi. They abducted children, and they were released. They didn’t kill them.”he said. _Follow the link to join Nigeria and Global News Platform For More Updates And Infos_ https:///HnN1mOzkbNF1l7dEtADKPI?mode=wwt

VIP protection: Low manpower not problem — NSCDC CG NigerianEyeDec 9, 2025 1:00 PM Dr Ahmed Audi, Commandant-General (CG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has disclosed that the corps is prepared to provide protection for Very Important Persons (VIPs) despite its low manpower. Audi said this during the CG’s Quarterly meeting with senior officers on Tuesday at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja. According to him, despite the manpower of the corps which is about 63,000, the NSCDC remained dedicated to following the directive of President Bola Tinubu. “The corps has keyed professionally to the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President to ensure the protection of Nigerians and all Critical National Asset and Infrastructure (CNAI). “Despite our size, we are not complaining as this assignment is an assignment the corps is ready to tackle and it’s a welcome idea,” he said. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that President Tinubu, through his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, had announced that VIPs seeking official protection must now obtain “well-armed personnel” from the NSCDC. The NSCDC boss further said the meeting was also aimed at discussing strategies and modalities to be adopted in handling VIP protection. He said that the corps will also engage in strategic discussions with stakeholders at various levels to see how best to discharge the new duty assigned to it. He however stated that personnel of the NSCDC had been actively involved in the protection of VIPs, adding that the assignment wasn’t new to the corps. “We have been part of it alongside other agencies and it is important to note that we get trained by the military, especially the training of our special forces,” Audi said. The CG also said that the ongoing recruitment exercise into the corps bythe Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) will further boost the manpower of the NSCDC. Audi charged all state Commandants and heads of formations to live up to expectations in the discharge of their duties, adding that anyone who does not take his job seriously will be sanctioned. “We will strengthen the monitoring mechanism on performance of heads of formations nationwide with a view to checking what they do and assessing them,” he stated. He appreciated the efforts, professionalism, resilience and determination of personnel so far in projecting the service. (NAN)

2027 Race: *Arewa Youths To Tinubu; Your Ability To Address Insecurity And Economic Situation Of Nigeria Determines Your 2027 Chances* The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum has warned President Bola Tinubu that his chances in the 2027 presidential election will depend largely on his ability to address the country’s insecurity and economic hardship. The National President of the forum, Yerima Shettima, said the northern youths were deeply concerned about the rising wave of killings, kidnappings and economic distress, stressing that no amount of political endorsement could guarantee electoral success if the situation remained unchanged. Shettima cautioned the President not to be carried away by the endorsements of state governors, reminding him that former President Goodluck Jonathan received similar support ahead of the 2015 election but still lost to Muhammadu Buhari due to widespread public dissatisfaction. He said, “As Nigeria approaches the pivotal 2027 elections, the political future of President Bola Tinubu hinges significantly on his administration’s ability to navigate the intricate relationship between national security and economic stability. The challenges posed by insecurity and economic turmoil are not merely administrative hurdles; they are critical determinants of public sentiment and voters’ behaviour.” According to him, the country continues to grapple with insurgency, banditry and communal clashes, all of which have eroded public confidence and triggered major humanitarian crises. He added, “Compounding the security challenges are the economic crises Nigeria currently faces. High unemployment rates, rampant inflation and declining living standards have left many citizens disillusioned. As Nigerians grapple with economic hardship, they will scrutinise Tinubu’s economic policies with heightened interest.” Shettima stressed that the youth, who make up the bulk of the voting population, were increasingly frustrated and would assess the government strictly based on performance rather than political rhetoric. Meanwhile, other northern stakeholders echoed similar concerns. Social Democratic Party National Chairman, Shehu Gabam, berated political actors discussing election victory while the country remained besieged by insecurity. He said Jonathan’s defeat in 2015 should serve as a warning that governors’ endorsements are not equivalent to electoral success. Gabam said, “If security is not guaranteed, even indigenous investors will not bring money to the economy, not to mention foreign investors. Without political stability, no investor will be attracted to invest.” Executive Director of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre, Auwal Rafsanjani, also observed that although security and the economy will shape public sentiment in 2027, electoral manipulation and state capture could still influence outcomes. A former Nigeria Labour Congress Vice President, Isa Tijani, urged Tinubu to prioritise nationwide safety, warning that performance alone does not determine elections in Nigeria. _Follow the link to join Nigeria and Global News Platform For More Updates And Infos_ https:///HnN1mOzkbNF1l7dEtADKPI?mode=wwt *Naija Politics*

THE POLICE ARE FINALLY RETURNING TO CORE POLICING AND NIGERIANS MUST PAY ATTENTION. For the first time in many years, a bold step has been taken in Nigeria’s security sector. CP Emmanuel Ojukwu (Rtd.), former Force Public Relations Officer, has openly applauded President Tinubu’s directive withdrawing police officers attached to VIPs. His statements are powerful because they reveal what many Nigerians have suspected for years. For too long, police officers have been turned into personal property for the rich and powerful. For too long, VIPs enjoyed dozens of officers each, while ordinary Nigerians were left with little to no protection. For too long, political pressure determined how many officers a single individual could “own,” while the average citizen was expected to survive without adequate security presence. Ojukwu made it clear that this move is the first real attempt in years to return police officers to their rightful duty, which is protecting the public and not being used as personal bodyguards for the privileged. He also warned that this reform will not be a simple process. He emphasized the need for a full audit. Many police formations assign officers to individuals without central documentation. Units such as the Special Protection Unit, Force Headquarters, missions, area commands, and state commands frequently deploy personnel to private individuals. This means the real number of policemen serving VIPs is likely far higher than the 11,566 officers that were publicly announced. This is why insecurity persists. This is why communities remain vulnerable. This is why criminals confidently operate across the country. Ojukwu also highlighted a long-standing problem. No Inspector General has ever been able to successfully withdraw officers from VIPs because the VIPs themselves use power, threats, and influence to undermine the process. The same individuals calling for reform are often the same ones making private calls to reverse decisions that inconvenience them. Political interference remains one of the biggest obstacles to effective policing in Nigeria. At the same time, Nigeria is planning to recruit 50,000 new police officers, yet police training institutions are in terrible condition. He described training schools with collapsed structures, inadequate facilities, recruits sleeping on bare beds, and inhuman training environments. Without proper investment and a merit-based recruitment process, increasing the number of officers will not solve the nation’s insecurity challenges. Ojukwu stated clearly that if Nigeria fixes police training, police welfare, and political interference, insecurity in the country will drastically reduce. It is a truth that many powerful people do not want addressed. The current directive to withdraw police from VIPs is a turning point. It is a reform that can restore public trust. It is a reform that can bring officers back to the communities that truly need them. The big questions remain. Will this reform succeed? Will VIPs allow the process to stand? Will political interests fight back as they have always done? Will the police leadership resist pressure and stay committed to the directive? Nigerians are watching. Police officers are watching. History is watching. It is time for the Nigeria Police to return to core policing and to serve the people who are the true employers of the police.
