PoliticsRe: VP Slot: Disquiet As Peter Obi Demands Single Term,200 Billion From Datti by Eddygourdo(m): 6:28pm On Jul 07, 2022
Showbby28:
There seems to be no end in sight of the crisis bedeviling the Labour Party as some of its stakeholders have accused it's Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi of mounting pressure on his proposed running mate , Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed to sign an agreement which demands that Datti serves only term as Vice President and also makes a financial commitment of two hundred billion Naira as contribution to fund the campaign.

Findings have also revealed that in addition to the above demands that Datti the founder and Pro-chancellor of Baze University Abuja utilises his position to mandate the students and staff to obtain and avail their Permanent voters card (PVC) to vote for the Labour Party Presidency in the 2023 General elections.

This is coming barely few hours after a former Deputy National Chairman of Labour Party, LP, Calistus Uju Okafor disowned the Presidential ambition of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi which vowing not to backtrack on his suit currently challenging the constitutionality of the Abure-led national working committee of the party in Court which produced Obi as the Presidential candidate of the LP. The development as gathered fueled the recent call by a northern establishment on Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed to decline the vice Presidential slot offer.

According to reports as gathered by polity.com a source close to the Julius Abure led LP executive hinted that the pronouncement of the businessman and politician as running mate to the Labour Party candidate is being delayed as a result of Peter Obi’s demands which some of them described as stringent and inconsiderate.

Pleading anonymity the source further unveiled that a series of meetings had been ongoing inorder to meet up with July 15 Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline for the submission of the list of vice Presidential, governorship and House of Assembly candidates by political parties.

The insistence of Obi's stance that Datti will serve only one term as vice president and also commit 200 billion campaign fund has been a major clog in the wheel as majority of the party stakeholders including Datti have out rightly rejected. According to the source, signing such agreement will be a betrayal to the North, adding that though the party is in need of funds considering the financial power of their opponents Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar, Datti will however not be induced to make such outrageous commitment. Disclosing further the source said that Datti has also refused to compromise his position as pro Chancellor of the University to mandate the University communities to submit their voter cards, he added that talks are still ongoing as at the time of filing this report its however unclear if any agreement has been reached.

Another bottle neck as disclosed by the source is that fact that Baba-Ahmed hails from the popular Baba Ahmed family in Kaduna, whose brother is Hakim Baba-Ahmed, spokesperson of the Northern Elders’ Forum, NEF hence the demand to refuse the offer.

"The situation is very difficult as a result of the demands being made by Peter Obi. Though he has brought the Party to limelight, his demands are outrageous. We are trying our best to manage the situation.

"We are still battling with our court case over the leadership of the Party but Peter Obi is not helping matters by insisting that Datti agrees to serve only one term and gives 200 billion. Even on social media we are tagged as the IPOB party. How can you expect Datti to agree to such demands? We cannot even agree to such a thing because it will cause a serious problem later in the future and it will be a huge slap to the Northerners.

"According to our last meeting we are looking at a budget of about six hundred billion to fund the campaign if we are to match Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress and Atiku of the Peoples Democratic Party but asking Datti to provide 200 billion out of 600 is very inconsiderate. It's just like buying the position of the Vice Presidential ticket when Peter Obi joined; we never made such a demand, not even to Pat Utomi, the source is quoted to have said.

Obi, a former Governor of Anambra and former presidential aspirant of the PDP joined LP on May 27 after he withdrew from the race for PDP’s presidential ticket and also resigned from the party in a letter dated May 24. He won the presidential ticket of LP at the party’s convention in Asaba on May 30.

Peter Obi has been able just like many Nigerians highlighted myriads of problem Nigeria has. He could however not come up with workable solution. For instance, he was asked why Siemen worked in Egypt but not in Nigeria. His response was simply that we are not serious. That was not a serious response from someone who wished to display intellectual acumen. It may seem that he simply did not know the snag in the system and dancing around the problem to paint himself good.
He has not given a convincing response to the issue of subsidy removal. He simply pointed to health and education as alternatives he would spend the subsidy money, he was not able to say how he would alleviate attendant rise in cost of living that could come with subsidy removal.

AT the onset of the interview, he accepted that he went to Egypt and Morocco to learn how they are doing stuffs that work, at least he owned up he is still learning. I feel he really need to also learn the complexity of managing a complex Nigeria cannot be wished away on the platter of oratory.

He could not state if he would restructure Nigeria until he becomes the president, he would not speak to creation of state police. He has no idea of exactly what he would do to solve the problem at the port even though he recognized the problems to be human. I don't see him surviving a deeply probing interview. He seemed to be unease with attack around his son for whatever reason and he should just be prepared for more because that's politics.
Good luck to him.
So that urchins like you and your bosses can take his ideas and make it your own ? you wont hear what you are looking for. We discuss all those privately. Wait to be fed with agbado

Who are these youths you talk about? So in your opinion, all youths are planning to vote for Obi who by the way is in his 60s?

It is attitude like this that made the democrats look to Trump. They just assumed that nobody in his right mind would vote for Trump. When this was combined with the bullying of Trump supporters to stay mute, they were shocked with the result.

That's the same thing you Obi supporters are saying when you say youths this, youths that. You are assuming that every youth or even a majority of youths are supporting Obi. Tunnel vision. You are choosing to see only what you want to see.
and you without tunnel vision, where did you see the youths ready for other candidates. The social media space dominated by youths is testament to whom they want. Random sampling in major cities of youths have also proven same. Yet you have decided not to Wake up and smell the coffee. That people like you are not smart enough to want to rescue Nigeria, isn't proof of youth support for degenerates and thieves. Like I said above, unlike people like you, we are comfortable with losing. Why that choice irks some people baffles me. People like you fight another candidate instead of trying to market your unsellable products. If Peter obi loses, the old regime continues, the suffering continues just as it has been since 1999. For all your Yoruba and northern presidents, what do you have to show asides perpetual failure. We will go to the polls as the youths of this country, if we lose we lose. If we win, then maybe the dividends of democracy will start coming to common Nigerians and not praise singers like you who are paid to love
PoliticsRe: Things That The Next President Of Nigeria Is Expected To Put Back In Order. by Eddygourdo(m): 5:50pm On Jul 04, 2022
Only Peter obi will give the following listed. Any other candidate is a continuation of the old method that has failed Nigerians. Tinubu, a seasoned politician is plagued by his age, failing health and kleptomaniac tendencies, atiku isn't a very serious candidate with any record of being able to achieve any of the points listed. Peter obi has the mind of the youth, he has studied Nigeria, he understands where it aches, if given a chance with people of like minds. He will start the process of Nigeria's renaissance.

This Igbokwe na one sharp guy. He doesn't fight a lost battle unlike many Igbos do.

He uses his head, he's more realistic than sentimental.

Anyone that hopes or believes Peter Obi can be president in this current Nigeria of today is either clueless or very unintelligent.

Mention one strong Northern Politician that has been enthusiastically supporting Peter Obi. On the other hand, check out the several Norther big politicians following Tinubu.

Kwankwaso has told you the truth that Northerners cannot vote Obi and everyone sensible Nigerian knows that.

Igbos need to learn wisdom and strategy. Everything is not Chestbeating! Tinubu had an ambition but the wise man supported Buhari a Northerner first so has to pave way for him when it's his turn.

If you Igbos don't drop your useless Ego, form strategic alliances, you guys might NEVER have an Igbo become president!

Power is expected to return to the South, instead of you and your useless Leaders to strike a deal with Tinubu/APC. Support them now and you guys will produce a president when power returns to the South.

The Alternative you guys have, which I feel will most likely be the case due to your political cluelessness and Chestbeating is that you will continue to hate and abuse Tinubu. Without your 5% support, Tinubu will still become president.

A Northerner becomes president after 8 years

A SouthSoutherner becomes president for another 8 years.

A Northerner again

A Yoruba Man again and it continues like that till you guys decide to have sense!
Why are you so worried about peter obi losing. What is your worry with that. The Yoruba man can rule Nigeria till eternity it doesn't matter to the average Igbo. We are Kings in our households. We aren't dependent on who rules or how he does it. Look around you and see evidence of what i said. That being said, since others have ruled for years, What has become of Nigeria? A failed state isnt it. Oya give a round of applause for yourself and the Yorubas

You intend to win a presidential election with that attitude?
We don't intend to win, we intend to try to win, we must not win, however, We intend to prove a point. The point that indicates we can make our own choices based on how convinced our conscience is justified to a cause. We have realized that tribe and religion has divided us for so long and it is time to show our education. Two parties have failed the nation and its time to shift to another , an old style of doing things (party structure and stomach infrastructure) has failed us, and it is time to fight for our future. Tinubu and his likes when they were youths fought for the democracy we have today (while they fought , people called them stupid), it is our turn to fight for the Nigeria we want tomorrow.

If many like you with a voice and a platform are blinded with money (despite the money you have ) or blinded with tribe (despite the education you have) or blinded with religion (despite the level of exposure you have) and you cannot deem it fit to choose rightly for the benefit of the majority. Then it is right that people who have decided to fight for their nation kick you out of their space. All of us were convinced without coercion, because we are tired. Many who benefit are not tired, so as much as we respect your choice to choose whom you want, you must respect the choices of others to do same.

People with a platform like yours are supposed to be socialist. Well its unfortunate that you are partisan.

What majority of these people don't realize is that Peter Obi's Candidacy is a statement from the youths. We are ready to lose the election. We don't mind if an Igbo man is never the president of Nigeria. at least we cant be accused of being part of the destruction of Nigeria , or the pain that will come from 2023. Other tribes who have ruled and are going to rule can take the blame for that. We will vote Peter Obi, even if he runs with a goat or sheep as VP. With the constant mention of peter obi, one would have to start wondering if the likes of Al- mustapha, Dumebi Kachikwu , Sowore are not in this election. Kindly focus on your candidates please and Leave our Obi for us. We want to waste our votes. Allow us waste our Igbo votes.
