the education you got was through your parents favoring you because you are their child but they could also have donated to a charity that helps less privileged boys and girls get educated.

the entire backbone of europe ( mostly en:gland, fra:nce, sp:ain, portugal ) is their African colonies so it will be full blown wickedness to not sign African players, that's like asking why there are so many players of African descent in the French national team...

which race, ethnicity a person marries from is very important, especially an African man/woman or a black person.. when successful black people marry outside their race or ethnicity its takes wealth out of their race or ethnicity and indirectly gives it to the who the successful black person is marrying..

I repeat the best Nigerian born and bred players must be favored..

If companies that picking Nigerians who graduated from foreign universities ahead of Nigerian graduates in Nigerian universities, Nigeria's unemployment rate will be terrible...
The best players should be favored whether they're foreign born or homegrown.
They are all Nigerian. Nothing you say will change it. Imagine encouraging mediocrity as a result of some faux patriotism or whatever you want to call it.

Omanambala is right, the best players born and trained in Nigeria ( e.g. Iheanacho, osimhen, uzoho e.t.c. ) should be favored... Nigeria needs a lot of Nigerian born people sending money back to Nigeria and improving the lives of their families which will indirectly improve the economy of the states their relatives are in...

A lot of the foreign born players are of no economic benefit to Nigeria and their ethnic regions.. A lot of them end up marrying whyte women and this removes money from the African/Nigerian community and encourages symbolic progress.

Remember it was local players like odegbami, okocha, kanu, yekini e.t.c that gave Super Eagles the good reputation and high rankings..

if Nigeria was ranked 98 in FIFA rankings and qualified for world cup once in a while would the foreign born players want to represent Nigeriahuh

look at basketball, how many born and bred in Nigeria players are in the B'ball teamhuh How many of the foreign born Nigeria basketball players have basketball academies and families in Nigeria that they send money tohuh How many foreign born players have houses in Nigeriahuh
What rubbish!! Did Mikel, Amokachi and other SE players who married non black/African women remove value from the Nigerian community?? Are you willing to dismiss their contributions to SE because of that??

Are you aware that some of the parents of these "Foreign based" players you guys are hating on paid their dues for Nigeria before they left?? Going by your logic - the children of the homegrown players who are born abroad should be not be priority despite all their parents did for Nigeria.

This envy some of you have for Foreign born players need to stop. Don't blame them for the incompetence of NFF...all it does is make you look/sound like a xenophobe.

Bear in mind , you are speaking to a guy whose 4 children were born in the western world. Yes , they are of Nigerian descent but their realities are very different. They can't be more Nigerian than their father who was born and raised in Nigeria. They enjoy benefits privilege a Nigerian kid can only dream about.

A player in the lowest league in England has a better benefits and retirement than players in our best clubside. You think you are doing them a favor but you are killing your own.
They are all "our own". Simple. The best players should be invited to the national team regardless of where they are born.
Tell the NFF to improve the league and grassroots football instead of blaming the wrong people.

Super Eagles is not a charity case. That goes for both homegrown and foreign born players.

No, I don't dislike them I just want preferential treatment for Nigerian born and groomed talents. You know, just like the Europeans put their people first. Is that bad ? I love and respect Europeans for that.
There's no comparison or whatsoever. They have Nigerian roots and nothing you say will change that.
They will still remain Nigerian even if they play for other countries as long as they don't denounce their roots.

I wish you knew how you sound with this talk...

Yes, indeed , I have a problem with non Nigerians who use us as a last option , when they have been ignored by their almighty European countries. It is called dignity. The English are notorious for this; when they play for lowly rated clubs they are eager to play for us, yet will ignore and mock us when they are flying high....i say ffuck that! And to make things worse , when they are finally invited we lay a red carpet for them and push our home grown players to the back door even when they are better.

I really don't care about the "suffering" of these English players...yes , the pains of walking to school under hot sun , playing soccer in the dirty and dusty street of London without food in their stomach, living in poor neighborhood with high rate of crime, going to substandard schools with crappy teachers , hawking in the streets of London like Osimhen without even a slippers....yes I see the suffering of these poor English boys. Isn't it so obvious their conditions are worse than our players.

You get it.
Long story short - you don't like foreign born players. Got it.

Good , then. However, I am not writing him off, but if I am going to field an English man then he must be better than what we have. I am not easily moved by these English boys who are spoiled with privilege of playing for decent clubs even when I know they aren't better than my home grown talents.
Do you have something against foreign born players or something??

How can you say Aribo, a guy who worked his way from isthamian league(sort of a semi professional league) to Charlton(after a successful trial btw) to Rangers as being "spoilt" and privileged?? Do you know how hard he's worked to get where is? Do you know how many English born players we have in the English lower leagues??

How you can dismiss the guy's ability just because he's "foreign born"?

In our last 3 or 4 matches Aribo has been below average. So, lets not go there...he is very athletic but only time will tell and I can see the signs.
There's a difference with not transferring club form to country and what you're saying.
Joe Aribo has the attributes. That much is certain. He started well and fizzled out a bit but he has it in him to get back in form.

Good. So according to you Vardy is NOT world class. That was what I wanted to point out. Thanks.

edi287 has now seen the light. Na only you remain, let's fire on till you yourself see the light. grin

My point is this, you said anyone who can sustain 20+ goals in two seasons in any of the top leagues is world class.

Good.

All I'm asking now is a question;

In 2018 - 2019 (2 seasons) here are Vardy and Pepe's stats;

Pepe 22/13
Vardy 18/20

If these stats make Vardy world class, would you tag Pepe as world class too?

It's just an honest question that needs a straight answer.
Where did I say Vardy was world class?

Omanambala:
It all depends in your formation, tactics and abilities of your players. But , if you must play Ndidi then you need a playmaker to assist him , otherwise your midfield will become toothless....like Ndidi-Aribo combination.
There's nothing wrong with that pivot on paper. Aribo is good at driving to the opposition's box with or without the ball.

Yep, correct. But was he world class in those two seasons at Lille based on your metrics for measuring Vardy?
No he wasn't. His last season with Lille is the only world class season he's had in his career.

Omanambala:
Then , let him replicate that status with Super Eagles...shebi na world class. A highly rate "top 3 DM" should be able to make a major impact in any team he plays for.
He is yet to translate that to the national team but it still doesn't change the fact that he's a world class DM.

And lads comparing please compare Vardy (2018-19) to Nicholas Pepe at Lille (2018-19). Both were in top 5 leagues according to your standards.

Pepe 22/13
Vardy 18/20

Was Pepe world class too?
Pepe is yet to transfer his Ligue un form to the epl and had just one breakout season(and a reasonable end to the season before that).

What exactly is your argument?

Alright lads, so how come Vardy is world class by your definition?
His goals over the past five years in the premier League are 13/23/18/20/13.

He couldn't keep up with 20+ goals in two consecutive seasons (Based on your own standards for world class).

What are your excuses for him?
I did say it doesn't have to be viewed from goals only. Vardy has been mostly consistent at Leicester. I'd wouldn't say he's world class but he's very close to being one.

But , the problem with that is we don't have a Tielemans in SE to progress play , and unlike Oliseh , Ndidi doesn't possess that extra creative instincts to attack, from deep. That's why I have consistently clamored for the inclusion of a pure AM/DLP like Nwakali. Thats my whole point.
Well you don't necessarily need a Tielemans if you have good attacking full backs or even ball playing CB.

Ndidi's ball playing skills aren't as bad as you make it. It would be madness to say we drop our most consistent player because he's not peak xavi or pirlo on the ball.
We need the security he brings when he's playing.

Okay do you agree with Andrew's 20 goal metric below?
According to Andrew a world class player is any player that scores 20+ goals in any of the top 5 leagues for two consecutive seasons at least.
Yep i.e high level performances(doesn't have to be only goals).
Kane is a perfect example too.

When a DM lacks that extra creative instincts it hampers the flow of play and overburdens the AM responsibilities, except when you are playing a formation that suits him. Tielemans is there as a DLP for a reason.
And Ndidi is there to break up play for a reason. DM are not required to have "creative instincts".
It's an added bonus for attacking teams sure but it's not a must.
That's why you have your Tielemans to progress play to the final third.

A natural midfielder should and must have some creativity to their game to be complete. Tackles and blocks are not the only features of a DM, those are the requirements of a CB.

Of course, I know some persons will bring up moments where Ndidi assited or played a nice pass but it's not a commonplace with him. I agree he has improved but I am not impressed, particularly with SE.
No a DEFENSIVE midfielder does not need to be creative. That is not their primary job hence why the "defensive" is in front of midfield.
Ndidi is fairly decent on the ball in addition to being a monster defensively.

He's not a regista/DLP and should not be judged as such.

Pascal Karibe Ojigwe was a fantastic DM marshal , not a convert. He won U17 with Kanu and Oruma set, had a decent career with Monchenglabac and Leverkusen. He had the same fate with Oruma. The presence of Oliseh reduced his appearance with SE.

Another excellent DM was Christopher Justice who played 2002 world cup. These are natural DM not converts. I want natural DM who is not just about tackles and blocks.
What do you mean by a "natural DM"? Ndidi breaks up play and protects the back 4. How is that not being a "natural DM"?
Ndidi does the basic job required of a DM at a VERY high level.
