BascoVanVeli: Does it always have to be the top scorers? Sl you are going to overlook the rest based on 2 players? Lets get real here. They're meant to be our best strikers. Sure external factors might be taken into consideration, but it doesn't look good at all. |

BascoVanVeli: Almost all the guys who have left from the npfl last year are starters in Europe. That is quality. I am sorry if they don't play for Barcelona but they are proving they have quality. Doesn't have to be Barca, but moves to the big leagues. Unfortunately we aren't seeing too much of that. Our last two top scorers have been to trials and failed. That's just not acceptable |

BascoVanVeli: The problem with the league is that there are too many factors that are against it that it can't control. Factors like referees, corruption, change of ownership, vultures in the form of agents, Giwa vs Pinnick, etc. Someone like Siasia should be coaching in the league instead of running his mouth. Enyimba is looking for a new coach and I am sure he won't apply. Siasia coached at Heartland. I remember him complaining about how some of the players couldn't do the basics like trapping the ball correctly. While all the factors you've mentioned are true, I think a lack of quality is also an issue. |

BascoVanVeli: Those were different people's opinion. Nothing set in stone. But the first post you grabbed was talking about poor coaching in the league something I have been complaining about. Siasia, Okocha and even the great Amodu have complained about the same thing. I remember Okocha saying our football was overrated and not better than South Africa and a few other countries. |

tbaba1234: Possibly but i do not think, it is that clear cut.
Sadiq Umar is terribly awkward to deal with. I feel he poses more of a danger when service is lacking because the boy will run at any defence. He creates danger. Tammy is a better finisher, i believe. Tammy is also quicker and better on the ball. His link up play is underrated too. Umar is good but I'd pick Tammy easily. |

Emery: Iwobi will sign new deal By Arseblog News Hound - July 27, 2018 Unai Emery has revealed that Alex Iwobi will sign a new deal at the club. While Arsenal are yet to officially confirm the contract extension, it’s thought the Nigeria international, as reported the other day, will sign terms that keep him at the Emirates until at least 2022. The 22-year-old has 98 appearances for the Gunners to his name and last put pen-to-paper on a deal back in 2015. Asked about Iwobi while in Singapore, Emery replied: “I have the information, he is near…my information is he will sign to stay with us.” Iwobi, like fellow World Cup returnees Mohamed Elneny and Mesut Ozil didn’t feature in yesterday’s 3-1 penalty shootout defeat to Atletico Madrid but could get a few minutes on Monday when we face Paris Saint Germain. “Mesut, Elneny and Iwobi are working with us – my first impression is very good,” added the Spaniard. Good news that we’ve tied down another young prospect and here’s hoping Unai can help Alex go to the next level. After a bright start to life in the first team his progress tailed off a little last season…the ball is very much in his court now. https://news.arseblog.com/2018/07/emery-iwobi-will-sign-new-deal/ |

He can very easily be 18 years. True but there's a probability of him been a year or two above his class at sec school. Would like to see pics of him back in 2015. |

Icon79: Omo, the Olympics team is NOT cadet level. At age 23 most soccer players are close to their peak coupled with the fact that each country is allowed 3 overage players as well. To me, any coach who gets a result at the Olympic level has what it takes to make it at the World Cup levels as well. So score one for Siasia, right there
O pari Point still stands. His club performances weren't what got him the SE job. Cadet level performances were good enough to get him to U23 level. Let's not forget he also flopped at the second attempt during the U20s. |

tbaba1234: The gist is that coaches are being paid to play certain players at the expense of others. For instance, the top scorer, Devine Nwachukwu and Omidiji have started from the bench. Their introduction in the first game saved Nigeria's blushes but nothing changed in the second game.
So we are benching better players for those that settled. That is the gist anyway. Pretty straight forward. Pinnick needs to do the needful. Don't give the likes of Giwa an excuse. Salisu should be sacked by the end of the week |

goldfish80: I think he played a fast one on the liberalists, who just love it whenever the word racism is mentioned. He has always identified with Turkey. He even had an opportunity represent Turkey but he chose Germany for the commercial advantage, obviously. In the essay, he alleged racism and discrimination being called a German Turk then another paragraph, he said that his Turkish roots was not respected and at the beginning he said his roots was of both German and Turkish. What a paradox. His case is not even helped with Erdogan's solidarity message. He could loose even more followers and sponsors. He said that because the right winged nuts think he can't be German enough because he has Turkish ancestry. Do they say that about Podolski and Klose after every bad game?? |

goldfish80: He doesn't have to come out and make a press release for the world to know which side he stands on. That picture said a thousand words. By the way, I bothered to read through Oezil's multi paged essay and to be honest, it was full of crap. In one breath, he identified himself as a German Turk, in another paragraph, he was crying for being called a German Turkey, calling it racism. In another paragraph, he called out the DFB for not respecting his Turkish origin. Very disjointed essay to be honest That's not how I saw it. The dude feels he's simply demonized for having Turkish roots and identifying with it. Like he rightly said when things go wrong, no one criticizes the likes of Podolski and question if dual nationality is a good idea. To these right wing nuts, dual nationality is a problem ONLY when being Turkish is involved. He sees himself as a German with Turkish roots. Right winged morons used the guy as a tool for political propaganda and I agree with telling them to go Bleep themselves. |

Icon79: No, it's more like talking about grooming someone to eventually take over from Rohr. And I would insist that someone's first coaching experience should not be with the full national team. They ought to cut their teeth with either club sides and/or the cadet teams as the head coach first. The keyword being: as the head coach.
Samson Siasia has done that, neither Mutiu or Finidi has. Hence, if either one of them has something to offer, let's see it at the cadet levels or at the club levels.
O pari My point is Siasia only cut it at cadet level. Didn't do well with Heartland. Salisu and that U20 coach did well with club sides but if I asked you who is better out of the 3, you'd pick Siasia no doubt. Learning as an assistant from Rohr can be too bad for them. In as much as I want Finidi to coach the U17 or U20s, If there's an opportunity to be one of Rohr's assistants he should take it. |

Icon79: Please, let's stop these nonsense! So because Mutiu "worked at 3SC for a bit", we should promote him into the national team set up, eh? And because "Finidi worked at the youth setup of Betis", that qualifies him to be in pole position for our national team coach, huh?
Some of the craps you read on this forum. Listen, anybody who wants to be in consideration for the national team coach ought to start by proving himself at club level or age grade levels (either U-21 or the Olympics) first; before any aspirations of getting into the full national team set up. The Super Eagles is not where folks should go to test their coaching abilities or lack thereof. We've already tried that with Sunday Oliseh and it was a disaster!
O pari You're saying coaching at U21 trumps working at club level?? Finidi has worked at the youth setup...same thing as coaching U21. To say none of them can assist Rohr is crazy sha |
