Salary way people don eat finish since yesterday
Please let's be mindful of the words we use. That you've received your salary doesn't mean others have received theirs.

So many university staff are yet to be paid. I'm yet to be paid likewise others. Please Let's be careful.

It's quite unfortunate that things have deteriorated to this extent. If not for IPPIS, will there be need for us to be here demanding to know if A or B has received his or her salary.

Na wao!!!

Some of us are worse than the leaders we condemn or criticise.

How can you buy a new car when you are owing your workers. You see why people visit Okija shrine or resort to any available means to resolve their issues.

Some people are evil in human form

You are not alone my brother.
Day before yesterday, my wife kept on preaching on the importance of saving .

When I sat her down to take a look at our expenses, she became dumb by force.

Where do you even start from? Children school fees, feeding, transportation, Nepa bill, house rent etc.

With the current harsh economic environment, it's even difficult to start a business.

The President has directed the grant of the waiver with a mandatory requirement that the Federal Ministry of Education and the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment must secure a Document of Understanding (DoU) establishing that this exceptional waiver granted by the President will be the last one to be granted to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and all other Education Sector Unions.
The above condition attached to the waiver is where the problem lies. ASUU will not agree to this type of arrangement.

You when on strike for 8 months and got payment for 4 months and you are still claiming you worked for it.

You people think we are all fools.
The issue is not the four months salary which federal government has agreed to pay. The issue is the condition that comes with it.

According to federal government, ASUU must sign a memorandum of understanding that they will never embark on strike again. If they choose to, they won't be entitled to such waiver.

EducationASUU Strike: Mr President, Keep Your 4-Month "Mercy-Salary" by edogu(op):
*MR. PRESIDENT, THANK YOU. BUT PLEASE, KEEP YOUR 4-MONTH "MERCY-SALARY"*

By Samuel Atabo
Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi.

1. After being subjected to untold hardship and forced to complete the 8-month backlog of work, the President has magnanimously approved a dehumanizing 4-month "Mercy-Salary"

2. As if that was not enough, it is being served with a cold-chilly caveat of never protesting any ill-treatment meted out to the University community as a pre-condition to be paid. Really?

3. In their thousands, many have died leaving behind loads of bills for widows and orphans and the "mercy" shown by the President to these victims of wicked politicians is the release of half of the full salary that has been worked for?

4. The FGN currently owes members of the academia a backlog of over 9 years of EARNED ACADEMIC ALLOWANCE. There is no mention of that anywhere. So any attempt to request or protest non-payment is to be quenched by "mercy-payment" of 4 out of 8 months duly earned salary?

5. The academics are the only set of FG workers that do not access annual leave, which is enjoyed (or monetized) by all workers in Nigeria. They work for 12 months a year. Furthermore, massive cases of un-remitted pension and NHS deductions are still ongoing as of today. So by agreeing to the President's mercy payment, you lose the right to protest these broad-day violations? What a shame!

6. Between 2009 and 2023, the salaries of nearly all FG employees have been reviewed upwards by 70% to 260%, except for the academics in the Federal Universities. Even the most recent 40% pay rise that was implemented within the last days of Buhari's administration did not include the University community. Amid these horrible injustices, this is the "Mercy" we get from the President?

7. After the failed negotiations with the Buhari-led FG, 25% and 35% salary award (for junior academics and Profs respectively) was included in the 2023 budget. Two months to the end of 2023, the present FG has re-introduced and presented the same Buhari's salary award as a favor to Lecturers. Even at that, they have refused to pay. That doesn't seem like enough provocation, ..then they're presenting ASUU with a slave option of WE PAY YOU 50% OF THE SALARY YOU HAVE WORKED FOR, AND THEN YOU DON'T EVER GET TO PROTEST WHATEVER WE DO TO YOU! What an offer!

8. In his magnanimity, the same President who deemed it fit to pay ASUU 50% of duly earned salary has approved 100% payment of salaries to Doctors for the period they were on strike! That is how politicians rate the engine room of the citadel of learning in Nigeria.

9. Mr. President, thank you, but please, keep your 4-month "mercy payment". If you can't afford the 8-month salaries we have worked for, then keep all of it. Pay us our Earned Academic Allowance (EAA). On all grounds, we have at least earned that pay.

10. It is true that we have been pauperized, but we are no slaves, we are not beggars. Our dignity and self-respect are all we've got left, after years of battering by politicians. Please, don't take that away from us with this demeaning, slave "mercy salary" approval.

Thank you, Mr. President.

EducationASUU Strike: Tinubu Grants Waiver, Orders Partial Release Of Withheld Salary by edogu(op): 7:11pm On Oct 20, 2023
President Bola Tinubu has approved the partial waiver of the “No Work, No Pay” order preferred against the members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

ASUU commenced an eight-month strike on February 14, 2022, and ended the industrial action on October 17, 2022. The then President, Muhammadu Buhari, had invoked the ‘no work, no pay’ to compel the university teachers to return to their classrooms. Since then, the lecturers have yet to be paid during the period of the strike.
However, respite came for the lecturers on Friday as presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, saying a partial waiver has been given over the order.

Ajuri said the waiver “will allow for the previously striking members of ASUU to receive four months of salary accruals out of the eight months of salary which was withheld during the eight-month industrial action undertaken by the union”.

He said Tinubu invoked the Principle of the Presidential Prerogative of Mercy, seeking to “mitigate the difficulties being felt during the implementation of key economic reforms in the country, as well as his recognition of the faithful implementation of terms which were agreed upon during the deliberations between ASUU and the Federal Government of Nigeria”.

Tinubu approved the grant of the waiver with a mandatory requirement that the Federal Ministry of Education and the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment must secure a Document of Understanding establishing that this exceptional waiver granted by the President will be the last one to be granted to ASUU and all other education sector unions.

FamilyLearn To Manage Your Anger (pic) by edogu(op): 1:47am On Oct 13, 2023
16-year-old Kevon Watkins was trying to play video games on Xbox in his family home in Georgia on February 2, 2018, but the internet connection was too poor.

In order to increase the speed of his internet connection, he decided to change the Wi-Fi password.
He did this to block anyone else from logging on and slowing down the service while he played his games.

Kevon’s mother confronted him, but things escalated leading his older sister, Alexus to intervene. Alexus stepped in to prevent Kevon from physically attacking their mother, but he subdued her in a chokehold instead.

Despite the pleas of his younger brother and his mother, Kevon refused to release her. He held her until the police arrived, but things had already gone very bad.

Alexus had suffered brain dea*th because her brain had been deprived of oxygen for too long. She was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dea^d.
Kevon was tried and sentenced to life imprisonment.

This story shows how an unmanaged anger problem can ruin lives.

Organised labour have suspended its planned nationwide indefinite strike action for the next month.

This was contained in a memorandum of understanding signed Monday by the NLC President, Joe Ajaero, and General Secretary, Emmanuel Ugboaja; as well as the TUC President, Festus Osifo, and Secretary General, Nuhu Toro.

The three-page document was also signed by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong; Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Dr Nkeiruka Onyejeocha; and Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.

"The NLC and TUC accept to suspend for 30 days the planned Indefinite Nationwide strike scheduled to begin, Tuesday, the 3rd of October, 2023,” the MoU reads in part.

"The Federal Government grants a wage award of N35,000 (thirty-five thousand
Naira) only to all Federal Government workers beginning from the month of
September pending when a new national minimum wage is expected to have
been signed into law.”

The decisions come at the end of an hours-long meeting between the Federal Government, NLC, and the TUC on Monday.

1. You will be allowed to list on afternic, and they will also list it at both Sedo and Dan, on your behalf.
2. You will take lesser commission when the name sales. Eg, instead of taking 35% they will take 30%; instead of taking 30, they will take 25%, as the case may be.
3. Shorter review time for submitted names. Etc.
Thank you!

Are there members of staff who submitted their NIN during IPPIS verification?
There was a memo for university staff to submit their NIN, unfortunately, this didn't work out as the site was not connecting.

Moreover, there was an ASUU directives for members not to adhere to the directives.

Nevertheless, I doubt if any staff (teaching and non- teaching) adhered to the instruction.
