Think there is a problem with the Website. Activation email was not sent.
affairsnaija:
The Federal Civil Service Commission recruitment portal was open few days ago for interested applicants who wants to serve in the Civil Service apply for the advertise positions and join the service. However, since the opening of the recruitment portal on 19 September 2016 applicant have been having difficulties in registering and receiving of verification email to enable them proceed with their applications.

In fact a lot of new email accounts will be created during this registrations period due to email rejection Issues on the portal, Nevertheless some applicants were able to apply successfully and others are still finding it difficult to register.

My understanding on how the recruitment portal works is that for you to register successfully, you must avoid using mobile phone to register instead use strong browser like google chrome on laptop or desktop computer. Some feature will not appear on mobile phone even though the FCSC portal website functionality was optimize for easy access by applicant but the site is still under strong security protection that is why a lot of applicant are having problem to register.

How to Register Successfully
*.go to http://vacancy.fedcivilservice.gov.ng
*.Click on Register an account to start filling in your information on the box provided and Click Register.
*.You will receive either of this popup reply " your registration is successful check your email inbox to activate your registration or this email have already register
*.Check your email box to activate the email send to you, if you din't receive any email don't panic wait for some hours and keep checking your email inbox and spam
*.When you finally receive the activation email in your inbox click on it, it will lead you to FCSC recruitment login page, login with your Username which is the email you register with and password
*.When you successfully login, check for the available position you want to apply for and click on apply button it will take you to the next page to start filling your information. There are 18 form page which you will have to fill.

Note: while filling your form on the recruitment portal there will be some huddles like LGA not displaying or date box not functioning try this strategies: when you click on state origin wait a little before clicking on the LGA box or click on another state origin and check the LGA then try to fill in your own state origin the LGA will show

For those who are finding it difficult to Register don't give up keep trying it will sure get through.

EducationRe: Study In Ghana - Admission Is Opened This January: by edolafa(m): 6:45pm On Apr 18, 2016
Before you opt to apply to any Tertiary Institution in Ghana ensure to check with the Federal Ministry of Education Abuja if the Institution is accredited, and if the Ministry has the institutions name in the registered list for NYSC.

If you r reading this pls reach out to Nigerian Foreign Students already schooling in Ghana that they should enquire from the Ministry of Education Abuja if their institution name is enlisted.

FashionRe: Quality Or (lack Of) Of "1st Class" Shirts Sold At Suntan!! by edolafa(m): 5:53am On Mar 02, 2016
kach91:
Those of us who purchase or at least know of suntan ventures, here in Lagos(allen ave and opebi) know they sell Discounted T.M lewin/Curtis shirts.
They may have been selling other brands, but majority of us patrons go there for the more established brands I aforementioned.

It seems however that they have stopped selling T.M.Lewin brands(they still sell H N C) and replaced it with the "1st class" brand. On first glance, they look like Lewin Shirts, they state on the pack, its made in London while in the shirt(the label with garment instructions),its stated "made in turkey. They also state its 100% cotton, but honestly doesn't feel like it.

I think this brand is made for a Nigerian, probably by suntan themselves (Which I honestly am not against),the quality of the shirt however feels really inferior, for one sold at almost the same price with H&C or Lewin Shirts.

Please share what you think if you've purchased this brand in question. Is it a knock off,or its good quality?
Well the shirt brand is not that bad. My only problem is why brand it London when the tag carries Turkey. I would have preferred it made in Nigeria was on the tag cus clearly looking at the packaging it shows that it was made to the specification of sultan in Turkey then shipped into the country....... But you know, you can find TM Lewin Shop is at MM2 Ikeja. Could ask for their prices cus i had to catch a 7.02 flight and I guess they open up by 8.00. Got this number on their wall 07046287832 thou I've not tried it out.
NYSCRe: NYSC 2015 Batch B Registration Details by edolafa(m): 2:50am On Feb 25, 2016
mashnino:
Foreign-trained prospective corps members should ensure that their Institutions are accredited. Where in doubt, it is their responsibility to approach Federal Ministry of Education for verification. The letter of verification must be uploaded during registration.

Foreign-trained graduates from Ghana and Benin Republic must obtain letters of verification and upload same for mobilisation to be effective.

Those who graduated from Institutions outside Nigeria, (Foreign-trained graduates), are to visit the NYSC portal, register and upload the following documents:
West African School Certificate(WASC) (with not less than 5 Credits at 2 sittings) or its equivalent,
General Certificate of Education (GCE O’ Level) (with not less than 5 Credits at 2 sittings) or its equivalent,
NECO (with not less than 5 Credits at 2 sittings) or its equivalent
High School Diploma or its equivalent.
First Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificate (Second Degree or Ph.D not necessary). Letter of attestation will not be accepted, Please.

Transcript of the first Degree or HND.
International travelling Passport showing data page and date of departure for the course of study. (Please note that you must present the originals of the above during verification at the Orientation camp).
Letters of verification for graduates of Institutions in Ghana, Benin Republic and any other Institution whose accreditation is in doubt.

It is the responsibility of the prospective corps members who studied in non-English speaking countries to get their Certificates and Transcripts translated into English language before uploading.

Unlike in the past, Foreign-trained graduates should not visit NYSC Headquarters, Abuja for verification of their documents. This exercise will now be done at the Orientation Camps. They should simply print their call-up letters on-line and report at the Orientation camps in their States of deployment, but should come to the camp with the original documents uploaded during registration for verification.
How is the verification done. What documents are needed.

If you have tried crossing seme border, share your experience with Nigerian custom officers...
mine was that 12000 naira was extorted from me because I did not have malaria vaccine papers...
cc: lalasticala
Malaria vaccine papers..... I never here that one before Ooo. The only vaccine document that I've been using is the yellow fever vaccination card
PoliticsRe: Have You Ever Been To Seme Boarder? Share Your Experience With Nigerian Custom by edolafa(m):
Crossing the border is actually frightening because there is no concrete information. I've heard a lot of sicken reports about seme, how extortion is thriving there. The information I will give here is for those that have proper travel documents which are valid international passport valid for at least 1 year is you are trevelling to an ECOWAS member country and a yellow fever vaccination card obtainable at all Health Centers and General Hospitals Nation wide.

I passed through Idi-Iroko en-route Ghana and I can honestly tell you that idi-Iroko is the best place to go through..... forget Seme. The immigration officers have smiles all over their faces and they are jovial too. To stamp you passport is just N200 only.

On the Benin side it cost N300 Naira to stamp into Benin. Their immigration and police official here don't smile at all they are there for business so just pay and move on.

Depending on the location you are going. Cotonu, Hilla Condji or Togo (Lome) you can get vehicles just after the border gate if you walk forward a bit. Experience will help you spend less getting to your final destination and also getting there faster, the trick is to break up the journey into smaller bits.

On the Hilla Condji border (Benin - Togo) Where you stamp is different to where you pay some stipend. So it looks like it's free but you pay on the Benin side you pay 300cfa same 300cfa on the Togo side totaling 600cfa. Their are money changer by the road side in Benin. I would advice you deal with the older ones just sitting quietly with their calculator. Ignore the younger ones doing the real hustling cus their rate are usually not as good as the older money changers

The worst border point on the west coast which I've personally witnessed is the Togo Aflao side. The touts here are the immigration officers and the police. No matter them amount of valid documents you carry, they still tend to extort you. This point of exit is a very dangerous one. So when you get there smile and be friendly with the "ass hole" you meet and pay him within 500 to 1000cfa if you want to leave in time. Another 500cfa to a fat ass big pot belly police man on the extreme end close to the gate

Finally welcome to Ghana. The stuff with Ghana immigration is that the front to be law abiding so you too can play law abiding too if your papers are complete. Ensure you don't have any illegal substance with or on you, cus right there through a passage way you will walk through you the have serious gadget scanning for different stuffs. Stamping into Ghana with your valid passport would cost you 15ghc (cedis) after stamping to maybe subjected to body and luggage search at 2 points.

This is an account of my recent travel to Ghana by road, by myself. If any event that skipped my mind comes up.... I'll edit this post.

If you have any questions put them up here.

Thanks
