If we don't want to be free like Western countries then why do we want to be rich like them ? huh Don't you know economic development goes in hand with societal development ? Or why is the term "socio-economic" being inextricably used when refering to development.

@winiret, like you've rightly said, Nigerians like to bury their head in the sand.
I want to ask you guys something- especially just cash, do you guys think that homosexuals in the US today were as free as they are today just 25 years ago ? What about black and coloured people, were they as integrated as they are today ? Let me tell you, the hate you have for homos today is not as much as that of the average white male had for them in the 70s. Today the children of those haters are gays themselves, are you as "religious" and antigay as Dick Chenney, George Bush's VP ? Guess what ? His daughter is a lesbian living with a woman and they have child.

How many people in the US live in such conditions as compared to ours ? You think we're a third world country for nothing ? Even here on NL some Nigerians have attested to the fact that slum dwellers have water and electricity something that plush neighbourhoods in Nigeria don't have.
Politics › Re: Wetin Man Go Do: Naija In Pictures by edoyad(m): 12:09pm On Jan 17, 2010
My forget that crap you're saying. Every day thousands of people troop into Lagos from other parts of the country to make a living, these slum dwellers live better than many Nigerians in Kano and or Porthacourt.
Politics › Re: Homosexuals Storm National Assembly by edoyad(m): 12:04pm On Jan 17, 2010
Expelled to where ? Isn't Nigeria their country ? Are we living better than South Africa where they live freely and Nigerians are rushing to to make a living ?

Bluetooth, if you can see this so clearly here i don't know why you don't apply the same standard in the other thread. Like you have so pointed out, the problem is not hausa, yoruba, muslim, homosexual or ijaw; when we can get a leadership that can get things to work, i swear i don't mind if every political office is occupied by an hausa man or Camerounian woman as long as everything is working like every where else outside Africa,

My friend hot stinky gas is a better disease than poverty. Half of Nigeria is living in poverty, i'd prefer if that half were middle income homosexuals who were contributing to global development wink . Of what use is a country whose only contribution to the world is that they have no homos, but you see their citizens all over the world serving as servants of those same homos.
Politics › Re: Homosexuals Storm National Assembly by edoyad(m): 10:32am On Jan 17, 2010
@bluetooth, to be frank with you i'm not really one, but don't you find it strange that the same people who try to make us focus on hating these liberties(not being our culture and all) are the same people who pay for £4million homes for their children in the land where homos live ?
I'd rather sleep in the same bed with Elton John anyday that stay on the same street with the IBBs and Bode Georges
Politics › Re: Homosexuals Storm National Assembly by edoyad(m): 10:17am On Jan 17, 2010
Bluetooth be honest with the question i'm about to ask.
If you had the power to choose between Nigeria being a developed country with homosexuals in it or remain as it is with no homos, which would you choose ?

Bluetooth, nobody's dragging us back to the old days, Nigeria's just don't want to move into it simple.
Today's sunday and in many churches today politicians will carry their fat heads to churches to worship God and contribute part of their stolen funds to the church's treasury and the "men of God" will then tell you Nigeria is better off than countries who live more comfortably than we do cos we still come to church.
You wont believe how much we've been enslaved by such backward mindsets, we have been robbed by a group of barsterds who fear and worship nothing other than themselves.

Well i don't think we do it much differently from what your parents did as youths, save for ofcourse your mother's female and my partner is male. undecided But then again a butthole is a butthole whether male or female, don't you think ?

I can't deny that there'll be some irrational responses from all sides of this discussion but the fact of the matter is that these are the issues we need discussed and sorted out here on this forum. If our ignorant parents thought sweeping these issues under the rug would solve them well they have been proved wrong, this is the best time and place to correct all misconceptions.

Look at my profile, the picture you'll see is me nak€d and was taken by my partner before he left for evening service where He's a youth leader. There's even a sister in the church whom the pastor recommended for him to settle down with, she thinks my partner and i are just "best friends".

Pushing trolleys and selling soft drinks under the hot sub saharan sun; Nigerian's are willing to work hard but the system is so messed up you don't get anything for your effort. To be honest poverty's not isolated to us as it's an African thing but Nigeria should atleast have gone past this level with the amount of resources at her disposal. Available on our streets are millions of young energetic youth who are angry, jobless and barely surviving, real recipe for disaster if you think about it critically.

Politics › Re: Homosexuals Storm National Assembly by edoyad(m): 8:13am On Jan 17, 2010
I'm for anything that will pi$$ the hypocritical, religious thieves in leadership off. That not withstanding i'm also pro-gay, pro-animal sex and pro-anything not against human law.
I understand certain people want to recognize sharia law where they live, well if that can be granted them it is also imperative that homosexuals be left to enjoy their lives like every other person.

Good job my people. If we continue like this the useless incorrigibly corrupt leadership will have no where hide or spread their lies cos it will become an open sore for everyone to see.
For those who don't know the signifiance of such demonstrations abroad i'll let you know that in more developed parts of the world the populace through their representatives determine the country's policies towards other countries to a certain extent eg. Spanish people voted out a govt that sent troops to Iraq and replaced it with the one that eventually pulled the troops out. So when the UK govt is put under pressure by It's people it will have no option than to express that thought to the nation in question.

@papabrowne and pifa, how i got what Nigeria's GDP is i googled it and got the average of all the figures for our 2009 GDP figures. According to the CBN governor, Lamido speaking last week, our GDP grew by about 6% in 2009 and he maintained that a 10% growth is achievable if Agric, mining, power, manufacturing sectors are given a serious push.
World bank country director Onno Rhul has been drumming into the govts ears that oil will not give considerale growth as is evidenced by middle eastern states with much oil and less population than ours. What He's prescribing is that we focus on Entertainment(Nollywood and Music) and Agriculture. The problem is that do the archaic people in power understand these modern economic policies that will be needed ?
Apart from the power sector i don't really hear anything being said about a modern transport sector, a country with the population and size of Nigeria cannot rely on road for freight services and general mass transit cos of cost and limited capacity of trucks in comparison to rail. I believe even Lagos understands this thus the introduction of light rail services.
Politics › Can The Nigerian Economy(gdp) Grow At 10% P.a. To Reach $800 Billion By 2020 ? by edoyad(op): 9:54pm On Jan 15, 2010
Well the so called govt has indicated this is the plan to move us to a top 20 economy by 2020. Our GDP today stands at about $ 320 billion +, for a country with 150 million people that sucks considering South Africa with 50 million people has a GDP of about $500 billion.
Instead of wasting our time calling each other names, could we answer this simple question ? Are we being taken for a ride ? Could the Nigerian economy(GDP) really grow at a rate of 10% p.a. to reach $800 billion by 2020 or is it just crap as usual ?
