@trustme that was a nice story, i believe It's called "strength in numbers". The truth about the matter is anytime people decide to take collective action there will be casualties. The fear of becoming a casualty or "dying for nothing" is what is holding us down, we have to learn that nothing good comes without sacrifice.

Chapelle the genius, using your logic(if we can call it so), since something like 95% of the male US basket team is black, blacks are the majority in the US.
Whites are the majority in South Africa cos the cricket team is predominantly white, eh ?

@OP, It's all about the women man, all about the women.
Have you ever been to porthacourt, Benin, Warri, Calabar etc. before ? CHAI ! ! Oye mi canto ! ! ! You will see mermaids of all types and species. Do you think any tribal group or region will let another carry all those kokolettes away ? Over our/their dead bodies, we'd/they'd rather die than allow that happen.

The top 4 things that attract me to a news story these days are a headline or story with :
3. Barack Obama
2. Baba-Tunde Raji Fashola
1. Arsenal FC.
It is no mean feat for something to be just below Arsenal in my books.

Politics › Is It Possible For Hausa People To Advance ? by edoyad(op): 8:52pm On Jan 13, 2010
The statistics tell it all, Highest poverty , infant and mortality mortality and illiteracy  rate in Nigeria. When you add religious violence and general unwillingness to cooperate with the rest of the country on matters that could possibly bring about development, one is left to ask what exactly is the purpose of the contraption called Nigeria ?
When major Gideon Okar, a man categorized as northerner split Nigeria into two in his address to the nation after a botched coup attempt back in the 80s, we all celebrated. But would severing all links with these people bring about the final solution ? If we say Nigeria must remain one, can we truly see a change in mindset of a people that appear not to believe in the same values as the rest of the country : education, female emancipation, freedom of religion etc. ?
I'd really like people of hausa extraction to contribute as this will help discussion gain a dimension that's usually lacking.

afemai:
As much as I disagree with Onwan using diatribes on the personalities of Falana and Soyinka and contributors of Nairaland I am in agreement with him when he wrote about their (Soyinka and Falana) motives. Falana made so much money working for Ribadu as EFCC lawyer at the instance of the then AG federation. Lack of patronage from Aondoakaa hence the hatred for the new AG (while not holding brief for Aondoakaa , Am no fan of ANY public servant in office since Obj to date). Soyinka know how past protests in Nigeria had not given desired results I want to believe that Tpia and I share in the patriotism of Monkeyleg, Gbawe, Londoner, Edoya and others who yearn for a better Nigeria but will agree that having these protests in London, Australia and New York will not change a bit of the ugly Nigeria situation I can only imagine how much of donor agencies’ funds has gone to private pockets, What we need is either a proper electoral reform. We should expend more energy in pushing these electoral reforms that will give us desired leaders those in the civil society know this very well and we have been lobbying for this and results are trickling in gradually (effective election will give desired leaders) only then will we weed out the “comedians” who parade themselves as distinguished and honourable weaklings. If we indeed have a virile national assembly Yar a Dua would have been impeached long ago or we wrestle the leadership through what beaf referred to as a ‘Sovereign National Conference’.
Evenwhen one is bad, it is not beyond them to do good deeds.

Whatever your opinion of these men and their objectives, we cannot deny that there is a gross misaplication of the rules in Nigeria and we just have to start correcting it if we ever intend to be anything as a nation. Our so called leaders have been on a marathon of failure.

Well, I am mostly in the background and observe first of all the things, before I say something. smiley
Of course I have noticed, that something is happen in Nigeria. It seems as you have awoken from a long lethargy.
I am really glad very much about it and hope that this still small snowball will grow to a gigantic avalanche.
Uups, a funny sentence for Nigeria. LOL, but you will know what I mean.

And yes, I have already written the article and not only this. Because of the fact, that the publisher was interested
to give an understanding of Nigeria to his readers he asked me to write more.
And, finally, a 18-sided pamphlet originated about Nigeria and the people. I must confess, I don't handle with the Nigerian leaders in politics and economy very softly. I just always say what is my mind. However, even more warmly and sometimes also more jocularly are the articles about the people in Nigeria, their culture, their peculiarities. Briefly, I have described Nigeria and its people as I see them.

Here of course the pamphlet is written in German, but there is also an issue in English language. If you like to read it, you find it as a PDF to download on my MySpace side (my side is bilingual in German and in English). There I have posted a blog with the heading "Nigeria, bad luck and evil"? grin
You find the link to the website on my profile.
Sie haben diese Datei bereits zu oft gedownloadet. huh huh

@everybody, have you guys ever noticed those ball jugglers that come on to the stage during FIFA occasions and can keep the ball from touching the floor for up to 10 mins ?
Well my friend asked me a while back why those guys don't become professional footballers grin .
Just imagine if you were at a park or show and the MC was to introduce one of those guys, whose name in Man U would fit that purpose properly ? grin

Politics › Re: Does Mtn's Decision To Site Its Regional Hq In Ghana Have Political Implicatons? by edoyad(m): 2:06pm On Jan 13, 2010
Citizen Action is what is required here not govt action. We don't know how many jobs have been missed out on by Nigeria but one thing i know is that if we take a collective action to boycott all MTN products and services in Nigeria they will come to their senses in an instant.
It is time for Glo and Visafone to seize the initiative and let their marketing departments design penetration strategies centered around Nationalism. East Asian companies have been doing it for a while so It would not exactly be a new thing.

The protests were a success and i'm glad, now It's onto the international scene.
Like i said yesterday, amongst every 12 of us there's bound to be atleast one Judas. That should not deter us from what we intend to achieve. Afterall, people who supported Abacha's intended transition to civilian rule are in power today, so how do we expect some of those elements not to be in our midst ? The important thing is for us not let them blur our vision or lose focus.

This is the democratic culture we've been crying out for for ages. Nigerians just sit down and complain and do nothing which isn't supposed to be the case, if you don't express your gripe how will the outsider know you're resentful of the situation ? Even a spouse has to express their discontent for a marriage to work properly; storing it inside will lead to a situation that cannot be salvaged.
