@papabrowne nice question. Usually in a secession a referendum is held to iron out the modalities just like the one that will be held in South Sudan later on in the year. Personally i don't believe breaking Nigeria into only 2 or 3 countries will resolve all outstanding issues but it would atleast be a start.

Politics › Re: Is It Possible For Hausa People To Advance ? by edoyad(op): 5:56pm On Jan 20, 2010
I believe another pillar of development or advancement as a people is the ability to critically assess ourselves or be introspective. On NL we constantly hear people from various parts of the country/world criticize propositions/actions put forward/done by people of similar affiliations or inclinations but that is totally lacking in that community.
I'll give a quick example with state governors, who has ever heard a person of hausa origins criticise the dismal performance of a hausa state or governor something which is common place on NL? It may have happened but i'm yet to see it. How can you convince someone from another part of the country that you are concur when we talk of improving this contraption of ours ?
If there were any doubts in my mind as to whether what i believed was prejudiced, the religious riots(just one of many) and reactions from the almajiris has caused the doubt dissipate. They are definitely not on my page.

I really don't want to launch a vitriolic attack now on anyone as that's what I've been doing for two days now, but needless to say i believe J will reclaim It's lost glory. I've been posting with anger since i heard of this thing and believe that one should take time to enjoy the good when it comes even in trying times. @pak and pan, you guys have made my day and i hope you find garri for your delight grin

@pak and pabanton i'm so glad to hear from J people. But i think say J people like to form jand before ? Why are you complaining of cornflakes ? My cousins in J like to cook with all those oyibo mede mede vegetables inside their food, so you understand my surprise at your complaint. After all, na for jos nasco dey make the cornflakes so It's a local delicacy. grin

Guys it happens every where even abroad, but on a lesser scale.
A financial adviser on zoneclub(tvchannel) once told viewers to always keep a seperate account for using your debit cards. By so doing you control the amount of money that you stand a risk to lose against fraud. So your real account can hold your savings and card account hold that 10 or 20k you might need on sunday afternoon shack and watch premier league.

I was born and bred in ikeja too and i can authoritatively tell anyone that not only are they not violent, the yoruba muslim is one of the most principled and intellectual persons you'll see in this country. You don't even need to look far, see how Fashola has revolutionised Lagos, i'm not even going to mention the Jakande family and free education.

Just spoke to a cousin in jos, every where is calm but the city locked up. She can't even buy credit so i had to buy from here and send to her. May be that's why they're not on NL, many access the web through GPRS and need credit to do so.
Politics › Re: Mutallab Now In English Dictionary by edoyad(m): 12:51pm On Jan 20, 2010
The most annoying thing is that nobody is speaking out against the madness, even the hausa ministers and governors don't seem to see anything wrong with this malaise.

Politics › Re: Mutallab Now In English Dictionary by edoyad(m): 12:36pm On Jan 20, 2010
It would interest you to know that word around the christian circle is that Mutallabs people knew before hand exactly what he was planning to do. The father claims he reported the son to American embassy cos he was radicalising, what a load of crap! Friends and families of most terrorist know before hand what they're going to perpetrate but are obligated by islam to be quiet or be labelled friends of infidels. They usually make video or audio recordings that are delivered to their families as proof of their matyrdom.

Politics › Re: Al Quaeda Militia Move Into Jos by edoyad(m): 11:59am On Jan 20, 2010
@cold, people who have lived in the midst of hausa people will not know what one is preaching. I'm telling you my own relative, not hear say, was murdered by people who were brought into his house by his supposedly peaceful muslim mai guard in the 2000 crisis. The christians in kaduna have wisened up, they now live on one half of the city living them to enjoy their almajiri existence in the other half. Trust ibo boys now, after their electronics were looted and shops burnt by the hungry jihadists they returned from christmas with machine guns as if to tell them "come Let's see if your allah pass my AK"
Politics › Re: Pictures From Jos Crises by edoyad(m): 11:38am On Jan 20, 2010
Obumselu i feel your pain my brother, i schooled in jos too and i remember the beauty of that town that used to attract people from the US and Europe. Jos was called the state of peace and tourism and jos people were called nigeria oyibo that time because their tastes in food, music and clothes was very western- that's why you see rappers like M I and many before him came from there. It's unfortunate what a place can be turned to if you give these hausa people chance.

Even if we signed now would there be enough time for the new signings to make a difference before the crucial games coming up ? How many of those points can we cup ? So many questions.

That's where you're wrong Mr South Africa, the problem is not the section of the society that has embraced education and modern principles of freedom of religion et al; the problem is with the section of the population that's averse to education, development, female emancipation, child right and freedom of religion.

Politics › Re: 5,000 Displaced After Violence In Nigeria by edoyad(m): 10:02am On Jan 20, 2010
Otokx the people of Jos are just learning what the people of southern kaduna learnt awhile back, these people no matter their obsequios manner they falsely try to penetrate your defences always have one agenda, "Let's impose our islamic-jihadist hegemony".
As you know i don't believe in a god so believe my opinion isn't that much subjective. The annoying part of it is that they so are resistant too modern realities, i don't know if It's by choice or from ignorance. My friend from youth service ,D. Echie- who resides around your area, would return to the lodge with other volunteer corpers frustrated from traversing the town of minna in a bid to vacinate the future almajiris but meeting with stiff resistance in some areas. Those same children are the deformed limbed people you see begging on your streets. As for Echie he stopped going for vacinations the day a father and his friend steered him in the eye and showed him a knife.

And as a secondary school student in jos, edoyad used to eagerly await the weekends when he would sneak into town with friends, shoot pool with University of Jos students(who are now targets of some imbeciles madness) at Chicken George , before leisurely strolling back with friends at past 12am on sunday mornings as european yuppies zoomed by with their power bikes on the deserted jos roads in darkness.
But the enemies of progress as usual have destroyed this picturesque flashback i used to have. People of jos wake up and resist any islamic-jihadist hegemony.

The children of plateau state people go to school and become useful members of their society. You will never see a real plateau man send his child to become an almajiri, or not send the child to school no matter how poor he is. But flip the page and Let's discuss the other person in focus.

When all is said and done, there is a section of the country that is inimical to the collective will of the progressive other, a tumor is best treated when it is in the initial stage; leave a tumor to grow and it jeopardizes the health of the person in question.
Politics › Re: Is It Possible For Hausa People To Advance ? by edoyad(op): 8:38am On Jan 20, 2010
What rational explanation do you people seek to elicit from these people ?
Fact
1. While i see parents of normal people in cars, on foot and on motorcycles taking their tots to school as i post, i can see their abandoned tots in rags with plastic containers roaming the streets in droves singing and begging for alms- there are millions of such children in various states doing this thing they call a religious rite. They are sent away from home by their parents, some from as young as three, to live in the most abominable conditions. Many of the educated ones(even here on NL) defend this life style claiming it is integral to islam, but ofcourse we know there are no almajiris in the middle east and that the educated ones themselves hope to send their children to boarding schools in Togo.
2. While i see young adolescent boys and girls heading for secondary school in uniforms for either morning or afternoon classes, i see our adolescent hausa friends heading the petrol stations with empty jerricans to profit from the petroleum scarcity we currently experiencing. You see they are the young entrepreneurs of hausa land known as black marketers, and this is probably is their apprenticeship in business management.
Now compare both groups and tell me which of the groups has a far higher tendency to grow and end up a menace to the Nigerian society ?
