I guess what the result of this year's solidly proves is that any Half decent driver worth his salt would win a championship in a car which is clearly superior to the others in the grid.

Lewis and Mercedes
Vettel and Redbull
Michael and Ferrari

Anyhoo..... I still dey shayo in Abu dhabi. New York soon come!
Aptly put.
I would like to see a formula one where the engines are supplied by the same manufacturer. Just like the tyres.

Actually I should ask you what point are you making? Lol if my grandma had balls she would be my grandpa. Hamilton overtook him from the very start of the race so what performance cool story are you talking about?
It would have been a massive injustice had Rosberg won the title with a paltry 5 wins when someone else won more than double that amount
You are just disparaging Rosberg's performance unnecessarily. In 2008, Hamilton won his first championship after he nicked only 5 races that year. Felipe Massa won 6 races that same year but the title still went to Hamilton. Are you saying Massa should have been awarded the title ?

http://www.formula1.com/results/season/2008/

The system Formula one operates doesn't give the title to the driver with the most wins, it gives it to the driver with the most points, just like football. In a football league, is it not better for a team to have 0 wins and 10 draws than to have 3 wins and 7 losses ?

Which kin challenge? There was only a contest because both cars were the fastest
What point are you making, was Hamilton driving a Red bull or Mclaren engine ? If Rosberg's car had performed the way it did in Brazil the story would have been different. If Rosberg finished 2nd in championship because of the Mercedes engine then same can equally be said about Hamilton's victory.
My point still stands, Rosberg has been good this season, Mercedes or not. Even Hamilton knows he could have lost the title today.

The only reason this year's championship was worth watching was the challenge Rosberg brought in. It's unfortunate how his mechanical failures seriously damaged his chances in this final race, of all races undecided

If a driver consistently finishing on the podium after over a dozen races is not ability then I don't know what is. There's no denying Hamilton is the more skillful and exciting driver, but like in every sport, skills don't necessarily win you the game.
Also, see the man who trained both of those kids agreeing totally with my point. Those kids go back a long way, even their dads.

‘Nico needs to build up to his limit, which is why qualifying suits him. Lewis can go to the limit immediately without build-up, and that helps when they race. He is more aggressive and better at knowing when to overtake. He makes it look easy. It is not so easy for Nico, who is more smooth, safe and consistent.’

It's official: Arsenal are the most frustrating club in the world to support

Moments after Arsenal's extraordinary collapse this week, I tweeted my long-held view that they must be the most frustrating team in the world to support. Gunners fans were quick to agree, but others weren't so sure. A stream of Tottenham and Newcastle fans begged to differ, while supporters of smaller clubs, including my own Southend United, were just as dismissive. But while those clubs and others have problems far more serious than anything ever suffered by Arsenal, the point still stands.

Supporting Southend is not really that frustrating. Though they sit in an entirely respectable seventh position in League Two, generally they're not very good at football. Expectations are low and are only occasionally met.

Newcastle are frustrating in that they keep finding ever more inventive ways to shoot their own feet off, but no one really expects anything different. That's just what they do.

Tottenham's extraordinary habit of investing heavily in one ideology only to scrap it all at great expense and do the opposite two years later is certainly frustrating, but only one person has ever thought they were going to win the Premier League title and that, bafflingly, was chairman Daniel Levy shortly after the sale of Gareth Bale.

Arsenal exist on a different plane of frustration because, unlike those other clubs, great success is always possible. Indeed, great success for Arsenal, given all they have, is actually more probable than possible.

Yet they are so keen to squander their ambitions, and in increasingly ludicrous fashion. They were like the Wet Bandits this week. Bigger, stronger, more experienced than their pint-sized opponent, Anderlecht in the Champions League, they seemed certain to win out, but instead they found themselves being creatively and repeatedly assaulted in the last 20 minutes as they let a 3-0 lead slip away.

What separates Arsenal from the likes of Tottenham, Newcastle, Southend and all the other names that streamed on to my timeline on Tuesday night is that they have absolutely no excuses for this. Arsenal have everything in place to be the most successful, trophy-laden club on the planet and their failure to reach their potential is extraordinary.

PoliticsDangote Seeks Tanzanian Govt's Permission To Build Power Plant by edoyad(op): 7:18am On Nov 06, 2014
DAR ES SALAAM, Nov 4 (Reuters) - Nigeria's Dangote Cement has applied for a licence to build a 75 megawatt coal-fired plant in Tanzania that would power a $500 million cement factory now under construction, Tanzania's energy watchdog said.

Sub-Saharan Africa's leading cement producer plans to roll out plants across Africa to reach an annual capacity of 62 million tonnes by 2017, up from a projected 42 million tonnes this year.

But any corporate expansion plan in Africa must contend with power shortages, which are common across the continent. Businesses often complain that poor or erratic supplies deter investors and push up costs.

"Dangote Industries ... applied for a 75 MW electricity generation licence to build, own and operate a coal-based captive power plant adjacent to its cement manufacturing plant," the state-run Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) said in a statement on Tuesday.

All the electricity would be "used to run the plant and machinery for the manufacture of cement, utilities and housing colony", EWURA said.

"Any interruption in power supply or unstable voltage/frequency causes extensive damage to the refractory and also to the rotary kiln parts. Refractory failures cause production shutdowns varying from 15 to 30 days and unscheduled use of costly imported refractory bricks," the regulator added.

Dangote Cement, owned by Africa's richest man Aliko Dangote, already operates in 13 African countries and posted $2.45 billion in revenue last year.

The factory it is constructing in southern Tanzania is scheduled to be commissioned in the second half of next year. With an annual capacity of 3 million tonnes, it will supply Tanzania's domestic market and export to landlocked nations in the region.

Cement makers in east Africa's second-biggest economy include Tanzania Portland Cement, which 69.3 percent owned by a subsidiary of Germany's Heidelberg Cement AG ; Tanga Cement, which is 62.5 percent owned by Afrisam Mauritius Investment Holdings Limited; and Mbeya Cement, 62.76 percent owned by France's Lafarge SA. Double Points - What a ridiculous sham. It's so ridiculous that if Lewis wins in Brazil and Nico has a DNF, Lewis' 11 wins and 49pts lead will count for nothing if he (Lewis) has a DNF in Abu Dhabi and Nico wins.

How can a system like that even exist?
I don't why it exists but it's there, it affects all the drivers regardless. Unfortunately, Hamilton will be the one going into the final race with unbelievable pressure. Imagine driving with the thought at the back of your mind that any slip up could cost you the title.
Rosberg on the other hand will drive like his life depends on that race in Abu Dhabi.

Really thought Nico would get the job done and close the gap but hey as someone earlier wrote, the lad is not a natural racer and does buckle under any hint of pressure.

Surely now Lewis has the title all but wrapped up or does He not? He has been the best driver by a fair bit this season and really should kick on from here.
Something like that but not completely wrapped up though. The final race in Abu Dhabi will give double points, so if Rosberg wins that grandprix and Hamilton can't finish the race for whatever reason, his ten wins this season(and may be 11th in Brazil) will count for nothing.
I remember a few years back when the FIA was discussing awarding the title to the driver who won the most races at the end of the season as against he who got the most points, I wonder that happened to that idea.

Spiralling costs have always been there, the real players will rough it out while the jokers fall away.

May be there needs to be a review of some F 1 rules.
