A 19-year-old boy from Zaria, Kaduna State was on Tuesday put under isolation at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria, for exhibiting symptoms of the deadly Ebola virus disease.

Kaduna State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Thot Dogo, who confirmed this to PUNCH correspondents in Kaduna, said the hospital authorities alerted the ministry when they suspected that the man, who is an undergraduate of ABU, Zaria started showing some signs of Ebola symptoms like high fever and rashes on his body after over a week he was admitted at the hospital.

Dogo said the blood sample of the patient has been taken to a laboratory in Lagos for tests.

According to him, the outcome of the laboratory result would determine further actions.

He noted that the state government has provided the hospital management with protective equipment for its team of medical personnel attending to the patient.

THE People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, was yesterday attacked by some suspected political thugs in Mushin during his tour of local councils. He escaped unhurt.

It was gathered that one of Agbaje's supporters was shot and was rushed to a hospital after losing so much blood. The rally was said to have been held at Olomowewe Square in Mushin as part of efforts to sensitise PDP members of his aspiration to govern Lagos using the party’s platform.

The Chairman of PDP in the council, Tunde Fabiyi, who confirmed the incident, said the bullet that hit Agbaje’s supporter was from the rifle of one of the policemen attached to the politician who wanted to scare the thugs away from his boss.

“Yes, it was true a PDP supporter was shot, but it is not as it is being painted by the social media. What really happened was that Agbaje was mobbed by some young boys after the rally, and in a bid to disperse the crowd, a shot was fired, which incidentally hit one of those who came with Agbaje,” he said.

“The presence of the Nigerian troops in Cameroun was as a result of a sustained battle between the troops and the terrorists around the borders with Cameroun which saw the Nigerian troops charging through the borders in a tactical manoeuvre.

Acting Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Suleiman Abba on Wednseday received the US Ambassador to Nigerria, His Excellency, James F. Entwistle at the Force Headquarters, Abuja
The US Ambassador congratulated the Ag. IGP on his new appointment as the Police Boss and thanked the Nigeria Police Force for its high level of co-operation and huge partnership with the US Embassy in Nigeria.
Force Public Relations Office Frank Mba said the in a statement the Ambassador thereafter presented high tech bomb disposal robots/equipment to the Nigeria Police Force. He also reassured the Ag. IGP that his country will continue to render relevant supports to the Force in the areas of training and security cooperation.
The IGP, while responding, appreciated the Ambassador’s courtesy visit and thanked the US government for assisting the Nigeria Police Force in areas of investigation, management of scene of crime as well as position of equipment.
