Chibuking81: These people are not serious, upon small #30,000 they refused. Please NLC should activate indefinitely strike if federal refuses to go by little #30,000.
Just in Rivers state PDP convention the presidential candidates pay as high as 10 thousand dollar (#3.6 million) with minimum of 1 thousand dollar (#360,000) per a delegate, times numbers of delegate. Senators goes home monthly with over #40 million which include their constituency project money, the project they never carried out.
Ministers, presidential aid goes home monthly with millions of naira, these people are taking the civil servants as nothing, please NLC should activate indefinitely strike. if this information is true, then its outrightly outrageous... no wonder civil servants are being treated as modern day servants or boy-boy |

Imagine Engineer like me suffering in my own rich state. .....and there are so many engineers in this teaching system. Its quite a pity. The government would have devised a means of absorbing engineering professionals that are teaching into the engineering ministry or they can enroll them into a training program that will help them get absorbed by the engineering companies in Rivers state. |

Abuchi17: Mr Peter Ozo-Esan, General Secretary, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has assured Nigerians workers of the payment of the reviewed minimum wage before the end of 2018.
Ozo-Esan gave this assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja. According to him, in spite of the delay caused by the Sallah break, the tripartite committee involved with the review of the wage will conclude its work on Sept. 4th and 5th.
“We believe that the initial expectation that by September a new minimum wage should come on board, we think that the government still should be able to deliver that to Nigerians.
“Nigerian workers will continue to demand that from the government and as soon as this report is submitted government should do the needful before the National Assembly, because that is the process. “We expect that the National Assembly will play its part in speedily considering the bill that will be placed before it and do everything possible for Nigerian workers to have a new minimum wage.’’
On the concerns raised by state governors, Ozo-Esan stressed that it was not for them to determine what to pay, but that as employers they must comply with the minimum wage as approved by law.
“ Minimum wage is not fixed for government, it is fixed for employers across the economy whether government or private employer, the law will require you to pay the minimum wage.
“ What state governments want does not matter, because this is not a political matter; the minimum wage is the barest minimum that any worker must earn and no employer can go below that.’’ he added. The NLC secretary general stressed that state governments mismanaging their funds have no excuse not to pay salaries, adding that Nigerian must start demanding for dividends of democracy from their leaders.
“We urge our members to get their voter cards and vote out governors who have shown incapacity to govern,” he added 2018 is almost ending, which other end are they still expecting? Is it that they're playing politics with the implementation of minimum wage?Civil servants are really suffering in this part of the world. they are now advising us to get our voter's card as if our votes count. It's well with us,no wonder they said that our wages are in heaven |

dmercy141983: So with out federal allocation the so-called Mr. Project nyesom wike cannot pay salaries with internally generated revenue like Enugu state just did ? If his projects are just roads and roads and roads and not human capital development then this is a useless project indeed. my fellow colleague, you have spoken well. it's quite appalling that a state like rivers state cannot comfortably pay salaries without depending on federal allocations. the internally generated revenue can pay workers' salaries and there will be left over. |
