CrimeBeautiful Tanzanian Actress, Sentenced To 2 Years In Prison For Manslaughter by edurach(op): 5:02pm On Nov 13, 2017
22-year-old Tanzanian Actress, Elizabeth Michael Lulu has been sentenced to 2 years imprisonment by a Dar es Salaam court for the death of Steven Kanumba, her ex-boyfriend, whom she was dating until his death.

According to reports, the ugly incident occurred on April 7th, 2012 when Lulu was 19 years old while Kanumba was 28 years.

Steven Kanumba who was a popular Tanzanian actor died after Lulu pushed him to the wall during an argument because of a call she allegedly received from another man.

During the court hearing, Kanumba’s younger brother, Seth Bosco told the court that Lulu had an altercation with his brother on that fateful day. He explained that the two were quarreling because Lulu picked up a call from another man in the presence of the deceased.

Bosco further revealed that Lulu came out of the room and informed her that Kanumba had fallen. The two called a doctor who declared Kanumba dead after examining him

Esther Zephania, a detective who arrested Lulu on that fateful day, told the court that walls of the room where the actor died had black blood-like stains.

Lulu’s lawyer Peter Kibatala requested the court to pardon his client arguing that she committed the crime when she was still young.

He further begged the court to forgive his client saying that she is her family’s breadwinner. Kibatala asked the court to free his client so that she could continue providing for her family.

The High Court, however, found Lulu guilty of unintentionally killing Steven Kanumba. Kibatala vowed to challenge the ruling even as Lulu was sent to prison to start serving the two-year term.

Politics2019 Election: What APC, PDP Must Do – Obasanjo by edurach(op): 10:30am On Nov 12, 2017
Ahead of the 2019 general election, former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has said both the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, need fresh ideas to promote democracy in the country.

The ex-President said this when he received PDP national chairmanship aspirants, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, at his Presidential Library, in Abeokuta on Saturday.

Obasanjo maintained that he was no longer interested in partisan politics in the country.

He said, “I have also said that the two parties that are there, the one in government and the one in opposition are both wobbling parties.
“I still believe that the two wobbling parties can still be made strong. They can.

“That has happened in some other countries like Germany, where a party runs the affairs of the county for decades, but of course, that is not the history in our own case.

“If we are just saying PDP has a crisis, which is self-made and that the Supreme Court had resolved the crisis for us, we are just deceiving ourselves.

“The Supreme Court has taken a right decision as an apex court should, but as a party, only that cannot help you to do it all.

“I had four PDP chairmen under me in eight years. So, I know what it takes to have a good or bad chairman for a party,’’ said the ex-President.

PoliticsBiafra: Buhari Wrong On IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu – Chidoka by edurach(op): 7:40am On Nov 09, 2017
A governorship candidate of the United Peoples Party, UPP, Chief Osita Chidoka has faulted the action of President Muhammadu Buhari in sending soldiers to the home of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

He also faulted the President’s statement that the unity of Nigeria was not negotiable.

The governorship candidate insisted that “the unity of Nigeria is negotiable and was indeed negotiated by founding fathers such as Sir Ahmadu Bello, Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo.”

Chidoka said Federal Government’s branding of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB as a terrorist group was wrong, noting that “it was wrong in the first place for the federal government to have sent soldiers to commit mass murder in Igboland.”

Chidoka spoke at the Enugu Sports Club, yesterday when he addressed Anambra citizens residing in Enugu on his blueprint for development.

He suggested that the south east states should aggregate forces to establish a coal power plant, adding that Gas-powered plants were costly power generations model which cannot be sustained under the present price regime which he said was cheaper than the production cost.

He said the November 18 governorship election was to determine the future of Ndigbo and Anambra state in particular.

“We will manage Anambra to produce human resources,” he said.

He added, “I am the only candidate discussing how to turn around Anambra state.

“My role is to take Ndigbo, Anambra to a higher purpose. My vision is to build a world class model state in Nigeria.

“I wand to run a transparent based government driven by Ndi-Anambra aspiration. Our strategy is to play in the digital economy, reform core values based on knowledge, vision, execution and sustenance.”

Nairaland GeneralEkiti Assembly Approves Death Penalty For Cultists by edurach(op): 7:45pm On Nov 08, 2017
A bill seeking to prohibit the activities of secret cults scaled third reading at the Ekiti State House of Assembly on Tuesday.

The substance of the bill is the prescription of the death penalty for those found guilty of breaching the law in that regard. Persons found guilty of aiding and abetting cultism would also bag life imprisonment. All that is left is for it to be signed into law by the governor.

The new provision was an amendment to the law against cultism, enacted by Ayo Fayose during his first tenure as governor of the state. The law had provided a seven-year imprisonment for anyone convicted of cult activities, whereas those aiding and abetting the act were to be imprisoned for five years.

The bill titled, ‘Secret Cult (Abolition and Prohibition) [Amendment] Bill, 2017,’ gained the lawmakers’ attention following increase in cult activities at the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti which led to the killing of students recently.

Before the passage, the House Leader, Akinyele Olatunji, recalled the killings at the university due to cult activities.

“We will not allow any group to turn Ekiti into death trap area,” he said, while thanking the governor, Ayodele Fayose, for introducing the bill.

“We cannot fold our arms while some people would constitute themselves as a menace and eliminate the lives of innocent people of this state,” speaker of the house, Kola Oluwawole, said, while making his remarks on the bill.

“It is an everlasting sorrow for someone to lose his child or relative. The bill will reshape the lives of our youth. It will ‘touch’ those who intend to join any secret cults and those who have the intention to take another person’s life.

“Those people that we are representing will have peace of mind that their lives and those of their children are safe. The bill considers very seriously the negative consequences of such action because of the irreparable loss of lives.”

Divine and her husband were arrested by the police after robbing a boutique, at gunpoint, on September 21, 2017.

Nairaland GeneralMan Dies 11 Hours After Getting Shot At An ATM And Being Rejected By Hospitals by edurach(op): 10:00am On Nov 02, 2017
A report by African Health Development Initiative on Facebook, reveals how one ‘Christopher Ojika aka ‘Scanner’ was shot in the chest and stomach on Saturday 28th October 2017 at about 4pm.

The gentleman was shot as he returned from an ATM where he went to withdraw money to fix his vehicle which was being attended to at a nearby mechanic workshop.

According to their report, Christopher was then rushed to hospitals by a good Samaritan, but was rejected from each hospital till he lost his life at the wee hours of the day he died.

The report also states that Christopher left his wife, who is with child.

Their report says,

This happened in Port Harcourt Metropolis, Port Harcourt is too rough you might say but it might interest you to know that it was not the gunman’s bullet that killed the fine young gentleman who was so full of promise. It was the rot in our Healthcare Delivery System, the Health Worker’s poor attitude to work, total disregard to the Hippocratic/Florence Nightingale’s oaths and our total disregard for human life’.

‘The young man having been shot fell on the floor and was calling for help, everyone took off in a million directions and fortunately a brave Good Samaritan decided to assist the young man who identified himself and asked to be rushed to First Rivers Hospital where he received treatment under his company cover.

Upon arriving the hospital he was not attended to, he even identified some nursing staff at the facility who had attended to him in he last and beckoned on them to help him, his appeal fell on deaf ears as a doctor came out and asked that he be referred.

Those attempting to help the young man decided to rush him down to the Military Hospital Port Harcourt believing that will be the ‘best’ place for gunshot wounds to be attended to. Alas they were wrong as first aid was administered and he was referred to The Teaching Hospital……

At this point I can only say that Mr Christopher was confirmed dead at about 3am, he had remained conscious while waiting to be taken to the theatre and died 11 hours after being shot without being operated on……

Money was not a problem as everything requested for was provided……

Who really killed Mr Christopher “Scanner” Ojikahuh?

Let’s use our tongues to count our teeth and remember that we are all human beings……

“……….I solemnly pledge to dedicate my life to the service of humanity……””……..The health and wellbeing of my patient shall be my first consideration…….”

“………I will maintain the utmost respect for human life…….”

“…….I will practice my profession with conscience and dignity and in accordance with good medical practice……..”

Excerpts from the Hippocratic Oath sworn by Medical Doctors at the time of induction. The Nightingale Pledge recited by Qualified Nurses during the pinning ceremony is similar. Christopher was snatched from his young beautiful wife who is carrying the child they’ve both been longing for.

'A case was brought to my attention. There is this lady (aged between 19 and 21) that was a patient, from stories told, her step brother impregnated her (she was raped) and she was sent out of the village. A catholic evangelist brought her to Lagos and was having his way with her while she was still pregnant under his roof. She delivered through ceacerian section on Tuesday last week. The Church priest and some other people are trying to convince this young lady to give out her child for a price. She is really shattered because of all she has gone through. I believe that she should be assisted and not be deceived to give out her child.

I am taking it upon myself to investigate this matter and help this young lady. From her story, her step mum and even the village has sent her away, which means she is basically on her own.

I am currently waiting for the welfare office Lagos with a view to ensure that the young girl and take her new baby aren't separated. Her name is GRACE Nkanueko.

The culprits are Mr Jekpon-oghene Dukuye (evangelist), the doctors are Dr Chidinma Ejiofor and Dr Jane. I have alerted the Lagos state authority on abuse and child rape. Presently the hospital officials are trying to take the girl and her child to an unknown destination. Meanwhile, anyone out there who can help the mother and child with toiletries and stuffs to help her nurture her child can contact me directly.

Please help this mother and child with your prayers. Don't forget to share this post for maximum publicity.

Thank you and God bless.

Politics'the 1999 Constitution Is A Satanic Document' - Prof. Ben Okaba by edurach(op): 5:30pm On Oct 24, 2017
Proffesor Benjamin Okaba, a university lecturer, yesterday described the 1999 constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria as satanic document which must be set aside for the country to move forward.

Okaba who is contesting for the President of Ijaw National Congress (INC) was in Akure to meet with the ljaws in the state said that the

“Nigeria must go back to the 1963 constitution in order to address the cry of marginalization by every segment of the country. Okaba who also met with an ljaw leader who is the state Commissioner for Lands and Housing in Ondo State, Donald Ojogo said the Niger Delta part of the country is marginalized in the scheme of things.

The lecturer at Federal University of Otuoke in Bayelsa State said

“Resource control remains the minimum condition for peace and unity of this country. Resource control remains the minimum prerequisite for equity and justice. I belief if this country wants to know peace, we must go back to our 1963 constitutional framework which is restructuring. In doing do, we allow each region to annex its resources and pay tax to the federal government. We need devolution of power so that each region grows at its own pace with little or no support from Federal Government. It will enable some competition from the federating units.”

Okaba lamented marginalization of the Niger Delta people. According to him

“The Niger Delta is marginalized by the Federal Government. Inasmuch as the political architecture remains like this, we are already marginalized. How many Local Governments do we have in the South South? Look at the National Assembly, how many representatives do we have compared to others? It is skewed in favour of the North. Until 1999 constitution which I call satanic document is set aside and we have federal constitution where the ideas of all the good people are considered and we recognize our strength, our weaknesses and come together and develop at our own pace, annex our resources and stop depending on oil which is vanishing. We will always have crisis” Okaba said he would make INC a grassroots platform to fight for the emancipation of Ijaw nation and ensure resource control if elected. According to him ” we planned to make INC people’s driven organization, forge unity among the people and build a credible think-tank that would ensure that there is greater prosperity.
