President Muhammadu Buhari has again, failed to submit his academic credentials to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. Buhari, who will be re contesting the 2019, presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, revealed via an affidavit that his certificate is with the Nigerian army.

In Nigeria, it is required that a candidate who is contesting for an elective position must meet the education requirement for the position. However, rather than tender his highest qualification, Buhari told INEC that his credentials are with the Secretary of the Military Board in the affidavit, he swore.

This has sparked a hive of reactions among Nigerians, as they have continued to query the president for giving such an excuse, even though he claims to be fighting corruption.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, believed to be a multi-billionaire has declared a paltry yearly personal income of N20 million.

The shocking revelation was contained in the credentials that Atiku filed with the the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The PDP candidate, who prides himself as a businessman and job creator said he earned only N60.2 million in three years and paid a paltry N10.8 million tax between 2015 and 2017.

Some reports have estimated Atiku’s wealth at about $1.4 billion.

In 2014, Atiku had boasted that he was the greatest employer of labour in Nigeria, with about 50,000 Nigerians on his payroll.

“As an individual, I believe my record in employing young Nigerians is unrivalled by any single private investor in Nigeria,” the former vice president said.

He has investments in media, shipping, education, and other sectors. One of the companies, where he has substantial interest is Intels, which recently ran into trouble with the Nigerian government for not remitting revenue due to the Nigerian treasury.

He is also the founder of American University in Yola and has a chain of schools under ABTI brand.

He owns Prodeco,a property development company and Prodeco International, operating in Oil & Gas Free Zones.

Prodeco, founded in 1996, engages in building, marine, and infrastructural construction in the oil and gas industry.

He also has interest in agriculture, with Atiku Abubakar Farms.

The PDP candidate’s credentials indicate his highest educational qualification as a Diploma in Law of 1969 from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU).

President Muhammadu Buhari, in an affidavit to support his form, said his credentials are still with the military.

In the sworn affidavit, the President, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said: “I am the above-named person and the deponent of this affidavit herein. All my academic qualification documents as filled in my Presidential form, APC/001/2015 are currently with the Secretary of the Military Board as of the time of this affidavit.”

Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina has said the N30,000 minimum wage increment from N18,000 is not achievable. Femi Adesina, who was on Channels TV on Thursday, said while some state governors were grappling with the current minimum wage, it would be impossible for them to pay N30,000.

Even when Adesina was asked, if public office holders reducing their pay, would make the new minimum wage being demanded by Labour achievable, he said he doubted it.

“So if they can’t pay N18,000 and labour is asking for N30,000 and they refuse to come lower, there may be a stalemate which will not be good for the country.

“I think in the spirit of negotiation, labour should not insist on N30,000.”

“Even if they( public servants specially members of the All Progressives Congress) decide not to collect anything, it still doesn’t take care of N30,000 minimum wage; it doesn’t.

“Maybe if the members of the national assembly concede part of their salaries and allowances, it can make a dent on minimum wage. But other office holders don't earn anything outrageous.”

Many persons have been reported killed and several others injured in a communal clash between two communities of Lafiya and Boshikiri in Lamurde and Guyuk Local Government Areas of Adamawa State.

It was gathered that the crisis erupted after three vigilante men who responded to a distress call from a farmer were murdered by unidentified persons in a bush, resulting in a reprisal.

The crisis was said to have taken a new dimension when both Muslim and Christian places of worship were razed.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abubakar Othman, also confirmed the incident to Channels Television.

He, however, said the police had not gotten the report of anyone killed while those injured have been taken to the hospital.

Mr. Othman added that houses were burnt while four other persons were missing.

“It was quite an unfortunate situation,” he said.

“These two local governments have been living peacefully for quite some time; that is Lamurde Local Government and Guyuk in Adamawa State,” he added.

The Command’s spokesperson explained further, “unfortunately, two young men left for their farms on this fateful day and they never returned. A day after, one of them was discovered dead and the other one critically injured.”

Othman, however, said normalcy had since returned to the communities after the Commissioner of Police deployed personnel to bring the situation under control.

Former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon has called on the standard bearers of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, President Muhammadu Buhari, and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and other presidential candidates of other parties to accept the result of the 2019 presidential poll in good faith.

The former military leader spoke with reporters after the opening of an exhibition in honour of an Emeritus Professor of Medicine, Oladipo Akinkugbe, held at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, yesterday.

Gowon advised the political gladiators to imbibe the spirit which made former President Goodluck Jonathan to concede defeat after the 2015 presidential poll to Buhari.

“What happened last time (2015), if you remembered, there was so much tension and the tension was so high that if things had gone wrong, Nigeria would be on fire,” he said.

“Then, as a result, (former) president Jonathan agreed at the early stage to say he accepted the results and congratulated General Buhari. Now, this is the way.

“I was in Ethiopia on African Union (AU) mission. The feeling before what happened, there was tension, anxiety, and worry by all in all African states. When the result was announced, I was just leaving Ethiopia to come back to Nigeria; come and see the joy in the people of Africa at that meeting.

“So, that was the sort of things I will really say we should have, so that we can have a peaceful election that is credible, peaceful, and people should accept the results of the election for the sake of Nigeria.”

The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has debunked claims by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the PDP convention was marred by vote-buying.

In a statement by the party on Monday, it noted that the ruling party was nervous about the emergence of Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate.

The PDP accused the ruling party of doing everything to ensure that the convention didn’t hold and has now resorted to unconventional means to discredit the process.

A policeman has been accused of shooting dead a police sergeant in Osun state during the elections.


The deceased, identified as Owai Owai a.k.a ‘Temple’. was among the police officers deployed to secure Osun governorship election last month. He was shot on the chest and his family members claim that witnesses told them he was shot by another officer identified as Theophilus Aghaulor with police number 410022 (Pictured above).


Owai Owai who is from Adim Baise local government area in Cross River State, reportedly called his family member on that fateful day and promised to return home for a visit after the Osun election, but he was killed over a dispute that had to do with money.


The family of the deceased have now taken to Facebook to ask for justice while claiming the officer who shot their brother is now on the run.

The President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organization has reacted to the emergence of former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate.

The President’s campaign team said Atiku was only able to win the primary because he bought delegates’ votes.

In a press release signed by its spokesperson, Festus Keyamo, SAN, and made available to DAILY POST on Sunday, the organization congratulated the former Vice President, and further accused him of massively buying votes.

The statement read, “We wish to congratulate His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar on his emergence as the candidate of the PDP in respect of the forth-coming 2019 Presidential Election.

“However, we note with interest all the reports in the media as to massive vote-buying at the PDP primaries (especially with foreign currency). We contrast this with the speech of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2014 APC Convention when he said as follows:

‘I have always served Nigeria to the best of my ability. I have always tried to give more to the nation than it has given me. This is the principle of service that has guided my public life. Thus, I am not a rich person. I can’t give you a fistful of dollars or naira to purchase your support. Even if I could, I would not do so. The fate of this nation is not up for sale.’

“There were also media reports in the 2014 APC National Convention that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar freely used the same method of massive vote-buying in foreign currency, but he came a distant third. Till date, he has not denied those media reports. The claim therefore that the process that produce him now as a candidate of the PDP was free, fair and transparent is suspect.

“It is therefore clear that going into this election the issues that will agitate the minds of Nigerians most would be centered around the credibility of the candidate of the opposition and the kind of values he brings into our politics.

A group of worshipers, all said to be women, have been arrested by police in an unregistered church during what was said to be called a prayer session. Aside the pastor, all the worshipers were women and were naked.

According to sources, the arrest took place on Tuesday at a private owned apartment in Rukiga, northern Uganda. The apartment was said to have belonged to the pastor, Adah Kahababo, who led the full gospel ministration.

The police were tipped off by the husbands of these women who were angry that for almost a week their wives have been praying with Kahabab. The District Commissioner, Emmy Ngabirano was surprised and wanted to know why those women have to be naked before they could pray with 'Adah Kahababo'.

He said:

“We respect the freedom of worship but people must follow the existing laws of operating a church and one of the requirements is to have it registered. The arrested people were holding an illegal assembly in someone’s house, which they claimed to be their church where they have been praying while naked. As the security team, we shall not allow such unlawful activities as they may lead to a cult like that of Joseph Kibwetere where hundreds of people were burnt to death in a church in Kanungu District in March 2000”.

The Nigerian Labour Congress(NLC) has called of its strike. The announcement was made by the labour president, Ayuba Wabba on Sunday.

According to the NLC president, it became necessary to call off the nationwide strike after government gave a firm and formal assurance to reconvene the tripartite meeting on the proposed new minimum wage.

The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) had attracted heavy criticisms from Nigerians after the announced a ban on cellphones and any recording device in polling units.

According to the commission, this is to help curb vote buying and selling that has been an issue in recent times.

Many who have commented on the issue, have lambasted the commission for trying to trample on the rights of Nigerians as ‘it doesn’t have the power under law to do so. ‘

Some even argued that this move will even triple rigging as it would make polling agents more ‘bribe-able’.

Well, we took a look at the statement by the commission’s chairman, Yakubu Mamood while speaking with stakeholders in Osogbo but here’s what the statement really means.

As opposed to popular belief or understanding, INEC didn’t ban the use of Smartphone around the polling unit areas, but what INEC really said is that as soon as a prospective voter enters voting cubicle to cast his or her vote, he/she wouldn’t be allowed to go with a cellphone or recording device. With this development, the prospective voter would be able to ‘snap’ sheet as evidence for receiving payment.

Hon. Egwuatu Egbulefu, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State is dead.

DAILY POST gathered that the late Egbulefu, before his sudden death on Monday, had last week picked nomination forms of the PDP in Abuja to contest for Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency seat in the 2019 general elections.

The real cause of his death could not be ascertained as at press time, but a close associate of the late politician, who gave his name as Nwogwugwu, told DAILY POST on Tuesday morning that the deceased passed away shortly after a meeting with his supporters in Abia Hotel on Monday.

He said, “Yes, Chief Egwuatu Egbulefu died on Monday afternoon after a meeting he convened at Abia hotel in Abia. He died around 2pm yesterday.”

There was tension in Sapele town, Delta State in the early hours of Wednesday following the shooting of a 28-year-old computer operator in the area allegedly by a trigger-happy policeman, identified as Chucks Owudi, over the victim’s refusal to follow him to the station.

It was gathered that the victim, Precious Imade, was driving in a Toyota Camry car along the new road area where he was allegedly hit by a truck driver, resulting in a shouting match.

An eyewitness, Joseph Otori, who spoke to DAILY POST, said that while the shouting bout lasted, passersby intervened and the issues were resolved, but the policeman including three of his colleagues, who were invited to the scene, insisted that Imade should follow them to the police station; a demand he resisted, and was being forced into a waiting vehicle with police inscription.

It was further gathered that Precious Imade a native of Benin City, Edo State, who has been a computer operator in Sapele in the last six years after graduating from one of the polytechnics in the state, screamed for help, but the policeman in anger threatened to shoot him, and in the process the said Chucks allegedly opened fire on him, leaving the victim in a pool of blood.

After the policemen fled, succor came the victim’s way from good Samaritans, who immediately rushed him into a nearby hospital where he is at present, receiving treatment.

Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, UK, Theresa May, has arrived Nigeria.

May landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja and proceeded to a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, according to Sahara Reporters.

Buhari and May are expected to hold discussions and sign vital defence and economic agreements involving both countries.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday urged the British Prime Minister, Thresa May to “use her state visit to Nigeria to uncover the dismal state of our nation by resisting a choreographed plan by the Buhari Presidency to hoodwink her for an endorsement stunt.”

PDP urged the British leader not to allow the “Buhari Presidency to confine her to the palours of the Presidential Villa, but to insist on visiting other parts of the nation to enable her directly appreciate the level of lies and false performance indices the Federal Government has been dishing out to the world.”

A statement by PDP’s spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan said “This is particularly as we have been made aware of plans by the Federal Government to use the visit to dish out more lies to the international community in an effort to cover its failures in governance in the last three years, for which Nigerians are clamouring for a new president under the PDP.

“We charge the British Prime Minister, as a parliamentarian, to take the Buhari Presidency to task on its unabated interference and violent attacks on the institution of the National Assembly, including threats to forcefully remove the elected presiding officers of the Senate, as well as the recent invasion and blockade of the National Assembly by Presidency-controlled security forces.”

Jose Mourinho’s position as Manchester United manager, will come under more scrutiny, after they were defeated 3-0 by Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night.

United came into the game, having won 2-1 at home against Leicester City and lost 3-2 to Brighton last weekend.

Mourinho demanded a reaction from his players and in the first half, they overpowered Spurs, but failed to score.

However, after the break, the visitors took over.

Harry Kane opened the scoring with a deft header, before Lucas Moura added a fine brace.

US president, Donald Trump, referred to his Nigerian counterpart, Muhammadu Buhari as “lifeless”, shortly after a meeting between the two leaders on April 30, Financial Times reported on Monday.

Buhari, the first sub-Saharan Africa president to meet Trump since he took over as the 45th American president, was in the US for bilateral talks on Trump’s invitation.

That meeting ended with Trump saying he never wanted to meet someone as lifeless as Buhari again, Financial Times reported, citing three persons familiar with the matter.

American and Nigerian governments have not reacted to the publication published on the same day Kenya’s Uhuru Kenyatta will be at the White House.

After the meeting at a joint press conference, Trump said he had an implicit belief in Buhari to rein in the “massive corruption” in the country and commended his efforts at doing that.

“Nigeria has a reputation for very massive corruption. I also know that the President has been able to cut that down very substantially,” Trump said.

“We talked about that, he is working on it and they have made a lot of progress and I think they will continue to make a lot of progress.”
