Josephine, a suspected female cultist and her gang members have allegedly damaged the right eye of one Lilian Friday, who is an SS1 student of Community Secondary School Otuoke, Bayelsa State.

According to reports, the incident occurred yesterday evening. The suspected cultist, also an SS1 student of the same secondary school is said to have been mounting pressure and persuading Lilian to join her cult group, but she declined persistently.

According to Benson, the victim's uncle, Lilian was attacked late yesterday, while returning from his place. He said Lilian met her classmate on the way and she insisted that she must join her cult group, her persistent refusal provoked the suspect and she vowed to disfigure Lillian's face.

Consequently, the two classmates started fighting, and then the suspect alerted her gang members, who came along and had the victim held to the ground, stabbed her right eye and then took off.

Efforts to arrest the suspect have not been successful, as the Otuoke community is yet to grant arrest warrant to the parents of the victim, because it is against their practice for someone to make arrest in the community without the approval of its leadership.

A member of National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) died after being injured during a "Man o War" drilling exercise in the ongoing orientation camp at Yikpata camp in Edu local government council of Kwara state.

The deceased identified as Hilda Eva Amadi, an Oil and Gas graduate of the University of Port Harcourt, fell from the string while participating in the drilling exercise.

According to reports, she was rushed to the NYSC clinic at the camp for medical attention, where she was allegedly attended to by corps members who are medical personnel at the clinic. She was later transferred to General Hospital in Ilorin for further medical attention and that was where she passed away.

The state Public Relations Officer of the NYSC, Mr. Oladipo Morakinyo, has confirmed the death of the Corps member.

A man who survived a helicopter crash was sliced to death by the blades of another helicopter when the aircraft arrived to rescue him during a rescue mission last Sunday.

The victim's own helicopter crashed in a remote part of the southwestern Cauca District in Colombia and he and another man were stranded in the hillside for seven days after their craft broke down with technical issues. They had managed to survive for the week before another helicopter was sent out to find them and retrieve their crashed helicopter, which had been carrying valuable equipment.

There had been four successful visits by a rescue chopper to retrieve equipment. But as the chopper arrived on the fifth rescue mission the aircraft flipped over and the blade sliced the man, killing him.

The horrific moment was captured on video. It shows two technicians standing next to the remains of their downed helicopter, waving their hands to direct the rescuing helicopter safely to the ground. The victim, Ivan Andrés López Londoño, can be seen in white with his arms in the air as the black helicopter descends. Suddenly, the aircraft tips to the side and rolls over, with López Londoño hit by the rotating blades just out of shot.

López Londoño, who reportedly worked as a maintenance manager for the helicopter company, died at the scene. The pilot suffered a wrist injury and bruising when the helicopter overturned, and was transferred to hospital.

Local authorities have launched an investigation to establish the cause of the accident.

An Ugandan tycoon known as Jack Pemba has been accused of releasing a sex tape with his ex-lover and popular socialite, Honey Suleman, which has gone viral online.

Honey, a city businesswoman in Uganda has since reacted to the sex tape.

In a long Facebook post, seen on Edge.UG, she claimed that her ex-has been threatening her and her family members with the sex tape. She said Pemba had told them to pay $5,000 to withhold the video clip.

he wrote: 'I know about the video and my whole family is aware of it. If Jack Pemba felt like it was okay to share our intimate moment when we were both in love, I have nothing to do about it. He is an old and mature man and am sure he had his own intentions leaking it. So please stop calling me and telling me about it…'

'Like I said before I am not paying anyone any amount of money for your blackmails. You can release the second video as well am not paying anyone 5000usd for videos we made out of love. It was also reported that the sex tape leak comes just two days after a commercial division of High Court ordered the immediate arrest for Pemba for failing to pay him US$ 300,000 that he lent her back in November 2017.

For the first time, a team of US surgeons from Johns Hopkins Medical center in Baltimore, Maryland, has managed to transplant the penis and the scrotum from a deceased donor to a recipient who had lost his genital organs during armed service.

According to a report by Medical News Today, the surgeons had been planning the intervention since 2013. In the telebriefing statement of the institution’s genitourinary programme, the programmme’s clinical director, Dr. Rick Redett, called the procedure “the culmination of more than 5 years of research and collaboration across multiple disciplines.”

The successful transplant was performed last month on a United States war veteran who lost his genital organs after the unexpected explosion of an improvised explosive device.

“It’s a real mind-boggling injury to suffer, it is not an easy one to accept,” said the recipient, who prefers to preserve his anonymity. The transplant, he said, finally gave him back a measure of confidence and stability. “When I first woke up [after the intervention], I felt finally more normal… [and with] a level of confidence as well. Confidence… like finally I’m okay now,” he explains.

The surgery, which lasted 14 hours, was performed by a large team of doctors, anesthetists, and nurses led by Dr. W. P. Andrew Lee, the director of plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. During the procedure, the penis, surrounding tissue, and scrotum though not the testicles of a deceased donor were grafted onto the recipient. This complex type of transplant surgery is called “vascularized composite allotransplantation.”

“The damaged and scarred tissues were removed from our patient and the necessary blood vessels and nerves were identified. For the transplant, three arteries, four veins, and two nerves were connected under the microscope to provide complete blood perfusion and sensation to the transplanted tissue” said Dr. Redett in his telebriefing statement.

Dr. Lee noted that the recipient “is recovering well,” and that he is following an immune modulation protocol which also involved a bone marrow transplant from the donor in order to ensure that his body does not reject the transplanted organ and tissue. The surgeon also expressed his hope that the patient will make a good recovery, and that he might eventually regain both urinary and sexual function, almost to the full extent saying “We are hopeful that this transplant will help restore near-normal urinary and sexual functions for this young man.”

The family of the deceased donor have also released a statement, expressing their wishes that the recipient would make a full and steady recovery, and saying that they are glad to know that their loved one has contributed to changing someone’s life so radically for the better. “We are all very proud that our loved one was able to help a young man that served this country,” the statement read. And, in a direct address to the recipient, they wrote , “We hope you can return to better health very soon and we continue to wish you a speedy recovery.”

A deputy governor Krinyaga Kenya, Peter Ndambiri is in a sex scandal after he was allegedly caught with a married woman.

An explicit video of the couple is also making rounds on social media.

In the video, Mr Ndambiri and his partner are seen completely naked as they were being beaten up by some group of men including the lady's husband.

Mr Ndambiri revealed that he had no idea the woman was married but confessed to have slept with the woman multiple times.

The police have denied claims that an explicit video of the deputy governor doing rounds on social media was reported to them.

A trigger-happy officer of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, opened fire on local government employees as they were celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Nigeria Union Of Local Government Employee, NULGE, in Agege area of Lagos state.

The celebration was underway on Tuesday, April 25th, when the NDLEA officer took the staff unawares, firing into their midst. One person died and several others were injured following the shooting.

The incident caused tension in the area and it took the arrival of police and security operatives at the local government secretariat to calm local government staff following the fatal shooting.

A Nigerian national was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the Philippines on Monday, April 23.

According to local media, ABS-CBN News, the victim identified as Didicus Ohaeri was killed in broad daylight by motorcycle-riding suspects in front of Abenson Appliance Center in Pamplona 3, Alabang-Zapote Road, Las Pinas City.
The victim was immediately rushed to Perpetual Help Hospital in Las Piñas City for medical treatment but was declared dead around 12:32 p.m.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, Piñas police chief Senior Supt. Marlon Balonglong said that the victim was sprayed with bullets while on board a Toyota Camry.

Suspected Nigerian drug dealer shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen in the Philippines

Police records revealed that the victim was out on bail after previously being charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 on Nov. 5, 2016.

Suspected Fulani herdsmen in the early hours of today killed two priests and 17 other parishioners during an early morning mass at the St. Ignatius’ Catholic Church in Ayar community of Gwer-East Local Government Area in the state.

The Tanzanian showbiz industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of popular video queen and socialite, Agnes Masogange.

According to Tanzania’s EATV, Masogange succumbed to pneumonia and low blood pressure at 4pm on Friday, April 20 at Mama Ngoma Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She was age 28.

Confirming news about Ms Masogange’s death, Dr. Kihama Ngoma said the video vixen had been admitted to the health facility for four days.

Tanzania’s Global Publishers reports that hundreds of Dar es Salaam residents made their way to Mama Ngoma Hospital, when news about Ms Masogange’s death broke Friday evening.

Her body has been moved to Muhimbili National Hospital, comedian Steve Nyerere says.

Agnes Masogange featured in, among others, Tanzanian musician Belle 9’s song called ‘Masogange’.

Here's a piece by Pastor Poju Oyemade on cultural dimension that may be destroying Christianity in Africa.

Why what God has placed in the heart of the younger generation is necessary.

This probably is my most sensitive and delicate write up so far, I have thought about this for years. There is a cultural issue in this nation that may be detrimental to real progress in advancing the kingdom of God.

I will start by telling the story of a conversation that was found in the black box of a plane that had crashed killing all passengers and crew members on a commercial flight in South Korea. On examining the black box to find out the reason for the crash they discovered the last-minute conversation between the pilot and the co-pilot which showed that the co-pilot actually knew what the problem was as the senior pilot struggled with the plane but he didn’t voice it out until it was too late and the plane eventually crashed.

This finding led them to believe that the cultural upbringing of the co-pilot which was a Korean thing which is to defer to one who is more elderly even when you know what is right had caused the crash. The co-pilot even though he knew what the problem was kept quiet out of respect and that cost over a hundred people the lives. It could simply have been averted if he spoke up telling the senior pilot his opinion.

This cultural mindset is prevalent in Africa and this leads the younger generation to remain silent on issues they know in their heart but refuse to speak up in deference to the older. In many cases when the younger ones eventually speak, it is with anger and bitterness, a voice that reveals a feeling of being oppressed for too long and that disrespectful voice lands them on the other side of extremity making them ineffective.

Elihu had this problem with Job’s friends as they counseled him. He listened for a while, refused to speak up because of this cultural issue until he realized he was going to jeopardize his position in God and God was going to look elsewhere for a man with the courage to voice the revelation within him.

Listen to his words in Job 32:6-10 (KJV)

“And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I am young, and ye are very old; wherefore I was afraid and durst not shew you mine opinion. I said Days should speak, and the multitude of years should teach wisdom.But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding……….therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will shew mine opinion.”

He later spoke about the consequence of keeping quiet in
Job 32:17-22 saying His Maker will take him out. Elihu actually meant death for in silence you have denied your purpose on the earth.

“I said, I will answer also my part, I also will shew mine opinion.
For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me. Behold, my belly is as wine which hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles. I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer. Let me not, I pray you, accept any man’s person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man. For I know not to give flattering titles; in so doing my maker would soon take me away.”

God places His revelation in two generations in different ways and it is when those two generations “see each other” for as in water face answereth unto face so does the heart of a man answereth to the other.

Proverbs 27:19 As in water face answereth to face, so the heart of man to man.

For there to be a trans-generational blessing not only must the heart of the children turn to their fathers the heart of the fathers must turn towards their children.

Malachi 4:6 “And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.”

God places something unique in each generation and it will take the linking of hands for real progress to be made. The old men will dream dreams and the younger will see visions. This type of relationship will have no iota of disrespect for the elderly but it is just the way God has established it.

As a child grows he or she begins to acquire knowledge beyond what he learned at home and after something can contribute to a conversation and advance the opinion in a family. To keep silent when you know better is disservice even to the elderly.

You make them take positions that may be totally out of tune with what is really going on because you whom God placed around them to give balance was silent and kept feeding the tendency in them that the younger generation know nothing and even after 20 years are still listeners with no voice nor contribution.

Voicing out your opinion should not be done in a disrespectful way and shouldn’t be done in an attack mode but as a regular practice so that it becomes part of the culture.

Giving voice to your revelation doesn’t always have to be in speech but more in action. It is in pursuing the path God has laid down for you that may be slightly different from the approach of the previous generation but you are doing it not out of rebellion but honoring the truth within.

This opinion doesn’t have to be at variance but contributing to the development of a thought, refining what went before. If you are always at variance then you are operating in the flesh.

The way God has designed it is as a generation gets old the younger generation should take them by the hand and drive the agenda. The younger once relied on their insights then the time comes for the older not to be discarded nor shamed but to be held by the hand and shown by the younger the next positioning and glean from their wisdom as the younger drive the agenda.

“18 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.”

It is when the younger do not understand that a change has occurred in the realm of the spirit and they should run with the baton that problems begin to break out. That generation as Elihu said becomes a wasted generation.

The younger generation must know that when you keep quiet and just tow the line because you don’t want to rock the boat you are doing a great disservice to the older generation.

The voice they need to create the balance is in you and you have shut them out of it. This silence is predominantly an African thing and not a biblical concept nor even something rooted in Judaism from where emerged Christianity. Most of the time it is in hypocrisy with a lot of back talks.

EFCC has recovered a total of N216,402,565.05 from Swiss Golden Investment, an online investment that purportedly deals in buying and selling of Gold Bars.

The recovery was sequel to a petition the Commission received from thousands of complainants who alleged that they invested in Swiss Golden Investment which was advertised as an online investment that deals with buying and selling of Gold Bars.

The petitioner further alleged that after investing over a billion naira into the business, the company refused to pay them any dividend or pay them back their capital. Through intelligence, the Commission picked up one Maxim Lobaty, a Russian and two Nigerians: Austin Emenike and Dickson Nonso Onuchukwu in Lagos.

The trio were subsequently conveyed to the Kano operational zone of the EFCC for further investigation. Swiss Golden which is headquartered in Hong Kong was discovered through investigation to be a Ponzi scheme that was designed to defraud innocent victims of their hard earned money.

After being drilled at the Commission’s Kano Zonal Office, Maxim and his co-suspects consented to the refund of the investment. Subsequently, a total sum of N216, 402,565.05 have now been recovered.

However, while the investigation was on going, it was discovered that, Swiss Golden Company Limited has defrauded over 7,000 Nigerians to the tune of over N3billion. Investigation into the alleged fraud is still ongoing and all efforts are being made to recover the money involved and the alleged suspects be brought to justice.

A young man was hacked to death by machete-wielding cultists yesterday in Ijebu-Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The violent incident took place on Sunday evening after an argument broke out during a football match at a Primary School in Oke-Agbo, Ijebu-Igbo. Some young men were playing football on the primary school field when a number of them got into an argument which soon turned violent.

The young men fled in different directions but the victim was chased by cultists suspected to be members of Eiye Confraternity and he was hacked to death when they caught up with him. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Three suspected thieves were set ablaze by an angry mob in Cross River State on Saturday, April 14.

It was gathered that the suspects were nabbed for stealing four motorcycles in Abuchiche, Bekwara Local Government Area of the state.

An eyewitness said:

“Charred bodies of 3 thieves caught&set ablaze 4 stealing a motorcycle dis evening in nyayan/abouchchie junction ,Bekwara LGA cross river state.It was a gory,pathetic & unfortunate scene. People make ona wise up ooo because na brain be jassman ooo.Gud nit,sweet dreams.”

I have often heard people complaining; I have a bad memory, i forget things easily, i can't understand anything i read. Usually, this happen to us when we try hard to remember certain things. Why is it always so? The answer to this is 'INTEREST'. When we are interested in a particular subject, we tend to remember every word of it. But on the other hand, lack of interest in a subject prevents us from remembering much about it. Therefore, the most important factor for improving our memory is interest. If we have interest in a particular subject, then it is easy to concentrate on it. Interest is a predominant factor which plays an important role in developing our memory, in one of my seminars, i asked the students who are interested in football the following questions.

Who won the Olympic Gold Medal in men's football 1996?
Which player scored the golden goal?
Who was the Coach that led the winning team to the competition?

One of the students (male) stood up and answered all the questions correctly and even gave additional points. It was enthusiastic. But when i asked him what he had learnt in class a day before the seminar, he went blank. This happened because he was not interested in what was been taught in class. But since he was interested in football, he could remember the country that won the Olympic medal thirteen years ago.

With this experiment, we can now see that we tend to remember the subject we have interest in than the subject we are not interested in. Another fact we must note is that, if a student can remember the person who scored the golden goal in 1996 Olympics, he is also capable of remembering what he was taught in class. There is nothing wrong with his memory; it is only a lack of interest in that subject. So to develop your interest in a particular subject, take up a subject in which you are not interested, for example, mathematics. Suppose you are a student of mathematics and you do not like the subject, but you cannot avoid it. Your main aim is to create interest in it. First of all, take up the solved example and try to understand them. Solve the easy sums and then proceed to the difficult ones.

Gradually, you will see that you have developed an interest in mathematics. Therefore, it is essential that to remember a particular subject,the development of interest in it is important. If the interest is there, the other factors will follow simultaneously.

The police have successfully trailed and arrested in Lagos two robbery suspects who took part in the deadly attack on five banks and a police station in Offa on 5 April, killing as many as 17 people.

Jimoh Moshood, the Police Police PRO identified the two suspects as 39 year-old Alexander Reuben and 28 year-old Jimoh Isa.They were all arrested on 11 April. They were among the 12 suspects so far arrested by the police.

Another suspect Adetoyese Muftau, 23 was picked up in Ibadan, while three other suspects were arrested in Ilorin, capital of Kwara state. The three were identified as 18 year-old Aminu Ibrahim, 23 year-old Richard Buba Terry and 25 year-old Peter Jafar Kuunfa.

Jimoh also said in the update released yesterday that six suspects were arrested in Offa, where the dastardly crime was staged. Two out of the suspects nabbed in Offa were caught with the SIM cards and phones of some of the victims of the robbery violence. They were identified as Azeez Salawudeen, who is aged 20 and Adewale Popoola, who is 22 years old.

Police gave the names of the four other suspects arrested in Offa as 29 year-old Adegoke Shogo, Kayode Opadokun a 35 year-old man, Kazeem Abdulrasheed, 36 and Azeez Abdullahi, who is 27.

Police said they recovered from the three suspects picked in Ilorin a Beretta pistol and 14 bullets. In all the police have collected from the suspects, two Beretta pistols, 20 bullets, four Phones and SIM cards belonging to victims, some of whom were killed during the attack.

Some of the arrest also involved serious exchange of gun fire between the Police and the suspects in their various hideouts”, Moshood said. The police gave the details of some of the suspects arrested and their confessions: *Adegoke Shogo, 29 years, native of Offa Kwara State. He was arrested in Offa after the bank robbery and the attack on the Police Station. He is a drug baron and also an Indian Hemp dealer in Offa Kwara State.

According to intelligence gathered from cultivated and reliable informant, he is alleged to be one of the sponsors of the robbery attack and the Police Station in Offa. He has made useful statements to the roles he played in the armed robbery. * Kayode Opadokun 35years, also a native of Offa Kwara State, He was found out to have been released from Prison three months ago after serving only eight months of his sentence years for armed robbery.

He is a notorious robber and confirmed gang member of the Offa Bank Robbers.

A footage showing the moment a pregnant singer was shot dead in Pakistan after reportedly refusing to dance during her performance has emerged.

24-year-old Samina Samoon, a local folk singer also known as Samina Sindhu, was shot at while she was performing at a ceremony in southern Sindh province.

Pakistan’s Geo TV reported that her alleged killer asked her to stand up and dance instead of singing while sitting.

In the video, she can be seen standing up to continue singing while attendees sprayed money at her. A man among them, who was allegedly drunk, then pulls out his gun and shoots at her three times.

Ms. Samoon was rushed to hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.

According to her husband, she was six months pregnant before her death.

He wants the alleged killer to be charged with double murder for killing the woman and her unborn child.

According to Hindustan Times reports, a suspect has been arrested.
