Am yet to understand the change people are clamouring for when it can't begin among these people. Despite the high level of unemployment and underemployment in this country. I wonder why there was ever independence in Nigeria. It's better to be oppressed by foreigners than by one's own country. Change my foot! I won't be surprised to know that some of them are the ones here shouting change, change.

We have heard enough. No need for this analysis. We already knw their salaries and allowances is milking our country dry but do we keep talking ? NO. We need the pay cut to be implemented
who will implement it? The same selfish group or ordinary civilians. Some people have no conscience. With all these high level of poverty everywhere, someone will conveniently pocket this huge sum. I fear this country!

If you have a masters degree and PHD in business or its related fields and still seek employment then the degree should be withdrawn. We depend too much on government for everything.
Are you not contradicting yourself?

[b]With the approval of new universities in Nigeria by Jonathan, lots of job for qualified teaching staff have been advertised. In Nairaland alone i've seen lots of vacancies for universities.

Truth of the matter is there are jobs in Nigeria but there are less qualified candidates. Our youths of nowadays are okay graduating with a 3rd class or LMPG (let my people go) result and they somehow miraculously want to work in an oil company. undecided. In UK, you want a top graduate job, the lowest entry standard is 2.1. That's before they factor in experience, communication skills and the other stuffs.

Our youths are so lazy they do not make effort at educating themselves beyond undergraduate levels. Coupled with the archaic teaching standards of some universities that churns out half baked graduates. How can a graduate in Business Management or Entrepreneurship be searching for a job? Why not create jobs? Must we depend on Government alone?

To the youths, we should try to educate ourselves beyond basic Bachelors degree. There are lots of cheap professional qualifications one can get. And also you can study for a masters degree online at your own pace. Online learning has evolved and now highly recognized as on-site learning. You can be an employer of labor like me wink wink grin. Government nor go fit pay us if we leave our business say make we find work.

To the adults, it may be too late already but please in God's name let us educate our children no matter how much it costs. Send them to good schools so they can learn properly. So they can learn the difference between propaganda and facts. The last election showed us how much we Nigerians are uneducated even though we think we are! Them deceive us black and blue well well.

You are very wrong. There are lots of Masters and Ph.D holders out there without jobs because of god fatherism, tribalism and all sorts. Do your research very well.

Good one! Jambites should take note.....to avoid stories that touch after graduation...(prepare to read like a MAD man if u wanna graduate)

They should be reminded and told the number of times they will spend in the bush for risky field trips. Also, if you don't have good and reliable sponsors, don't opt for it except you are ready to borrow money to complete your education. Most of their analysis are done abroad and those done within Nigeria are jaw breaking. Goodluck

The man appears helpless. His reasons for owing workers for 7months isn't convincing. His excuse was that because he paid level 1 workers 18k and not that he even effected the increament all round and from his explanation it affected the state budget that he couldnt pay his workers salaries for 7months and counting. Imo state minimum wage is 20k and this increament the state effected till the last level starting from level 1, yet we are not hearing of 7months unpaid salaries in the state.
This confirms the notion that SW states are poor with Lagos the only exception.
I don't think its poverty rather its heartlessness. There are poorer states that are still managing to pay their staff. its nothing but misplaced priority and selfishness. What do you think of all federal institutions of nigeria being paid May salary with the exception of Unilorin?

I think laws should be enacted to criminalize and attach penalty to inability or failure to pay workers salary. While failure to pay should attract a severe penalty and inability to pay must be addressed in such a way that workers should be adequately compensated for the periods they have gone hungry. When an employer of labour both in public and private sector knows he would not go scot free for failure to meet welfare obligation to his working force, he would certainly priorities their welfare.

Economy is bad but a lot of governors pay salary when they feel like when the going was good. Some of them believe wage bills do not leave enough for developmental project so they renegade on that aspect. Whereas, that doesn't stop them and their cronies from deeping their ugly hands into public fund.
same thing is happening in Unilorin now. For the month of May they were not paid without any explanation. Other Federal universities have long been paid. Can you imagine that? Corruption at all levels!
