Sports / Who Is The Richest Super Eagles Player? by efoghorjos: 6:10pm On Jul 26, 2010

Religion / Tithe: Has It Been Cancelled By Jesus Christ? by efoghorjos: 5:25am On Jul 26, 2010
The issue of paying tithes has become a thing of confusion and debate by different Christian denominations. Some see it as mandatory while others see it as exploitative and unbiblical. Some even believe that when it is paid, it goes into the pastor’s pocket; so they would rather keep their moneys than enrich the pastors.

What do you think about this subject? http://jossy-bible-life..com
Sports / Now That The World Cup Is Over, What Next? by efoghorjos: 5:09am On Jul 26, 2010
The 2010 FIFA world cup in South Africa has come and gone, and everyone’s attention is now focused on the next host, Brazil. All satellites are now directed toward South America where the action would be, come 2014. Everyone expects Brazil to perform better than South Africa.

The expectations are quite high because Brazil is the home of football; in fact, football is a culture in the South American nation. Having won the world cup more than any other country (has won 5 editions) and being the only country to have participated in all editions, the world expects to see something unique come 2014. Besides, they have won the U-17 cup for keeps; they have won the U-20 and have also won several editions of CONCACAF nations’ cup.

It is also the home of the popular Maracana stadium; and boasts of a well organized league with teams like Corinthians, Santos, Sao Paolo, Vasco Dagama, etc that have always given a good account of themselves at the club world cup tournaments. They have a population advantage (over 200 million people) and a lot of football enthusiasts.

South Africa has surprised the world by organizing a hitch-free tournament; they provided world class facilities – 8 standard stadiums, smooth roads, standard telecommunications system, 5 star hotels, tourist attractions, adequate security, etc thereby setting the pace that would be difficult for the next host to equal.

They provided something that was unique and in a sense African – the Vuvuzela, that would never be forgotten in haste; and the Jabulani football that was both problematic and fun. What should we expect in Brazil? Would they give us something that would make the Samba dance a thing to remember? What kind of football are we going to see there? I am sure FIFA now knows that the idea behind the Jabulani ball did not really work – the ball did not lead to more goals being scored; rather, it led to most of our stars failing to perform and score goals. It made Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney, Aguero, Fernando Torres, Frank Lampard, Osaze Odiwingie, Obafemi Martins, Cesc Fabregas, etc. unable to score at least a goal, because of its slippery and directionless nature.

We hope the 2014 host would be able to provide adequate security to players, officials and fans. They confirmed at South Africa that they had started preparations for the next edition. Let’s therefore hope we shall be seeing better stadiums, better roads, better communication systems and nice hotel accommodations. Brazil cannot afford to perform less, because the world expects much from her. http://efoghorsportsarena..com
Business / Fish Farming: Fortune For A Small Business by efoghorjos: 5:05am On Jul 26, 2010
Fish is a very good source of protein, but its demand world wide is very high while supply is low. Fish farming is therefore a way of bridging this gap and increasing the protein supply to the average families who cannot afford the other expensive sources.

Small businesses can cultivate fishes using a cheap technology and low capital base. Artificial ponds may be expensive for a starter: but using other methods like the Geepee tanks could help to minimize cost. Geepee tanks are less capital-intensive, they are movable and easy to maintain: they do not require hard labour to set them up or to clean them up. Several of them could be set up to care for the various sizes of fish.

Why should I go into fish farming?

1.Fish is in high demand world wide and the supply can hardly take care of the high demand: Therefore going into fish farming promises to be a good source of revenue (both local and foreign)

2.It is cheap to start up: Fingerlings are affordable; Geepee tanks are not too expensive; their feeds are cheap. A bag of feeds can last for several days to a few weeks.

3.Growth is very fast: Unlike other farm animals that take several months or years to mature, fishes mature within a few months. The feed needed to raise a kilogram of fish is lesser than that required to raise other sources of animal protein.

4.Help is available: Agricultural extension services are available in some areas to help provide the needed training/assistance to the starter, to enable him know the basic things to do to make his farm well managed.

5.They are non-destructive: Fishes are non-destructive; they do not in any way contribute to the destruction of crops/plants around them, unlike the goat, sheep, pigs, cows etc which destroy foliage. They also do not destroy the soil texture since they do not posses hoofs. They only take up the space where the Geepee tanks are located.

6.Easy to control: Unlike the goat, sheep, cows, horses, etc, fishes are very easy to control as they remain in their habitat (tanks or ponds) and do not need to be driven from place to place. You do not need to use sticks or whips on them before they listen to instructions. You therefore do not get sapped trying to control the fishes.

7.It is needed by everybody: Some religions forbid certain animals, but fishes are hardly forbidden by anyone.

The use of fish is enormous thereby making it a very good source of revenue for man. They are needed by restaurants operators, snack makers, homes, biology laboratories, fast food joints, hotels, pepper soup joints, etc, and as a small business owner, you could supply fish to any of the above-listed areas and make lots of money from them. The market can not be fully exploited. Everybody needs fish and you have to supply to them to meet their demand and you in turn make money from it.

Business / Economic Recession: A Good Time To Invest by efoghorjos: 5:01am On Jul 26, 2010
A lot of people paint a gloomy picture in their hearts about the possibility of making any head way in their businesses in this period of global economic recession, and they see their businesses as doomed forever with no hope of recovery. So many are also afraid to invest in new areas where there are opportunities for them to hit it big; they assume that no body is making it anymore, and that it would be sheer waste of their hard earned resources if they should venture into new investments.

However, several opportunities abound for people to invest and make profit even in the face of the global economic meltdown. It is true that many people are loosing their jobs in their thousands and that thousands of companies / firms are shutting down because of a rising cost of production, and low patronage due to declining purchasing power. However, in the midst of this fear, pessimism or uncertainty, there are areas that still provide a glint of hope for anymore who wishes to take the risk to invest. Some of the areas where one could invest and still make it big include:

1.Shares: The best time to invest in shares/stocks is now that the values of stocks of many companies are down. So many stocks have lost close to a hundred percent of their normal values. Watch carefully to be sure that such companies have a good track record and they are unlikely to fold up during this period of recession. Seize the opportunity and buy a high quantity of their shares/stocks at the present cheap rate and wait for them to arppreciate again with time. The moment the recession is over (which may not be more than one year from now), you would make more than 200-300% profit from them. For instance certain companies which had stocks valued at N66 per unit fell to as low as N5 per share in this period of economic meltdown. If you invest only N50,000 from your monthly salary or from the little profit you have been making from your business to purchase those shares, you would end up having 10,000 shares. In about a year or two when the shares climb back to their normal value or close to that, you will make millions of naira in profit. For instance if the shares rise to only N50 each, then you have 10,000 x N50 and that gives you N500,000 (900% gain). Wow!

2.Bonds: State governments are also affected by the recession and are looking for a way to finance their budgets. As a result, they are putting bonds for sales. You could also buy bonds and make a hell of profit from them at the maturation time.

3.Essential goods: there are goods that would always be needed, recession or no recession. The people cannot without them because they are needed daily; they are a necessity not luxury. You could invest your money supplying those goods and still make good profit from them. Examples of such goods include seasonings, food stuffs, clothings, footwear, soaps and drugs etc.

4.Job consultancy: Because a lot of jobs are being lost daily, several people are hunting for new jobs. If you can provide a job consultancy service which can make people get new jobs, you will surely make it big. You may also act as a link or agent to a bigger consultancy firm and get paid for every person you link up to them, who eventually gets a new job through them.

5.Information: Sell information products that teach people what to do to be self-employed, or areas they could invest their little money and make profits. When the people trust the information you provide them with, they will buy and that ensures that you make profit also. So there are divers opportunities; all it takes to key into them is wisdom. Think of what the people would always need and look for a way to provide them and the sky would be your limit. Watch out for opportunities and seize them; if you make the right choice of investment, you will get profit that would surprise you beyond words.

Sports / John Obi Mikel: Comparing Him With Lionel Messi by efoghorjos: 4:32am On Jul 26, 2010
John Obi Mikel of Nigeria and Lionel Messi of Argentina were both at the world youth championship (FIFA U-20) in Netherlands in 2005, where they both shone like a Million Stars, to the delight of soccer fans the world over.

Both players played as creative/attacking midfielders for their countries at the youth championship. Argentina eventually defeated Nigeria by 2-1 at the final to win the trophy; and Lionel Messi emerged the world’s best player, while John Obi Mikel was voted second best player at the U-20 level.

Five years after, the gulf between the two players has widened so much that one begins to wonder what has happened. The Argentine went to FC Barcelona thereafter and developed his skills further to the point of wining several domestic titles, 2 champions’ league titles, 1 club world cup, 1 Olympics gold medal, European footballer of the year, world footballer of the year, etc.

But the Nigerian made the mistake of his career by allowing his father to influence him in choosing to go to Chelsea FC of England. The only achievement he can boast of till date include a few FA cups, Carling cups and community shield cup. He just won his first league title with Chelsea this year.

What went wrong?

Lionel Messi carefully chose a club side that allowed him to develop further, and brought out the best in him. John Obi Mikel, on the other hand refused a bid from Manchester United that would have enabled him maintain his position as an attacking midfielder and develop his skills further. Instead, he chose to go to Chelsea FC because of the money involved. On getting to Chelsea, Coach Jose Maurinho turned him into a defensive midfielder, and his skills nosedived. During the period he has stayed in Chelsea, Man U has won 3 league titles, 1 club world cup, 1 champions’ league title, etc. Today, he regrets his decision: he would have won 3 league titles, 1 champions’ league, 1 club world cup, several FA cups and Carling cups by now with Man U. He would have also had the opportunity to shine better than he is doing right now and perhaps be close to Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi in terms of skill. But today, he is not in the top 50 players’ list. What an Irony!

In choosing a career, one should not consider only the monetary aspect; one should think of one’s opportunity to develop further, and when the place you intend to develop your career does not guarantee you that chance, you should look elsewhere.

Besides, you should not allow anybody to influence you when it comes to choosing your career. You know what you want; why don’t you go for that which would give you satisfaction? If you make any mistakes from the onset, you may end up regretting for life.

Politics / Nigeria Relapsing Into A One-party State? by efoghorjos: 12:22pm On Jul 22, 2010
The recent development in Nigeria where elected leaders or representatives of the people cross over to another party, with the people’s mandate, is both alarming and unhealthy. Most of the political leaders – Governors, Ministers, members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, local government chairmen, councillors, etc were voted based on their party manifestos. Defecting with their votes to other parties therefore, should be seen as a despoil of their mandate.

The beauty of democracy is in checks and balances which is provided by the opposition parties. Where there are no checks and balances, there is the tendency for the ruling party to become dictatorial. And when there is dictatorship the people suffer unjustly. This is what PDP is driving the country into – becoming a one-party state, where there would be no one to oppose her.

Our politicians are indirectly telling us through their conduct that either they do not understand their party manifestos or they lack integrity. Whichever the case, they cannot be trusted with the people’s mandate since they are not honest enough to protect the people’s votes.

They have also shown that they are in politics simply for their selfish gains and not because they want to represent us. They only see politics as business and so they jump to any political party that offers the best bargain. The last gubernatorial election in Anambra state exposed some of these avaricious politicians; notable amongst them was this particular woman who contested on the platform of one of the parties she thought could easily secure the people’s mandate for her. As soon as it was announced that Peter Obi had won the election, the next week she ran back to the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

Politics in our country has become exploitative: people now use the smaller parties to secure a mandate and then run to PDP where they think they stand the chance to personally gain more. They use the people’s mandate to negotiate for their Ambassadorial, ministerial and other appointments. If we allow this ugly trend to continue in our national polity, sooner or later our nascent democracy would be destroyed by these selfish, dishonest, shameless and greedy politicians.

Recently the former governor of Abia state, Mr. Orji Uzor Kalu went back to PDP (after ruling under the platform of PPA). He was accepted at the national level, but the state refused to accept him back because they understood he was coming back for selfish reasons. If other states would emulate Abia state, the political harlotry in our nation would be checked.

The declaration by the national house of assembly that everyone has the right to cross over to another party irrespective of whether he is carrying the mandate of the people on another political party platform is not helping matters. The house of assembly should realize that this declaration is moving the country in the wrong direction where our national political boat would soon capsize. They are elected to make laws that would suit the nation and not their political party. The country belongs to all Nigerians and not to PDP alone; they should therefore make laws that posterity would applaud and not condemn. Everyone should stand up to condemn this development that is threatening to destroy our nascent democracy and take us back to the military era.

Religion / Abortion; Is It The Only Option? by efoghorjos: 12:08pm On Jul 22, 2010
Abortion is the emptying of the pregnant uterus before the 28th week. It can be spontaneous (occurring on its own) or induced (intentional); when it is induced, it means it has been deliberately initiated by a person (qualified or otherwise) for reasons believed to be in the interest of the mother and family.

For the sake of clarity, we shall be concerned about induced abortion. It is intentionally getting rid of the foetus for medical or aesthetic reasons; a young lady gets pregnant and the doctor feels that she might not be able to deliver the baby either because her reproductive system is still immature or because it would endanger her life.

Induced abortion could either be legal, in which case the law permits that it should be carried out in order to save the life of the mother; or it could be criminal, in which case it is done for reasons other than those permitted by the law. There are risks involved in either case, but the advantage has to be weighed against the disadvantage before a legal abortion is contemplated.

Why Should There Be An Induced Abortion?
The medical team feels that allowing the pregnancy to continue would definitely endanger the mother’s life. This could be as a result of the fact that the woman has a medical challenge e.g. congestive cardiac failure, severe sickle cell crisis, chronic renal failure, etc, and if the pregnancy is not terminated she could die as a result of excessive stress.

It could also be contemplated if it is feared that the foetus is going to be born with severe deformity as a result of conditions like Rubella (German measles) of the pregnant mother; or in a situation where an ultra sound scan shows that the unborn baby has Amelia (absence of limbs), Anencephalous (without brain), etc. The medical team may decide to terminate such pregnancy to save the mother from mental stress.

Criminal abortion on the other hand involves terminating the pregnancy for other reasons not permitted by law e.g. when a lady feels that pregnancy would make her not look young and beautiful anymore; or when she feels she is not yet ready to have a baby, or when the family feels having a child outside of wedlock would tarnish the family name.

What Does The Bible Say?
“Thou shall not kill” (Exodus 20:13; Deut.5:17; Matt.5:21). God does not permit killing or murder for any reason especially when it has to do with satisfying your selfish interest. We should be aware that the foetus is a human life and has the right to live. We must not pretend by calling it another name or assume that it is too small to be considered a human being. Humans don’t carry the zygote of goats, dogs, horses, crocodiles, etc; they carry only human zygote. So, when the male and female gametes unite, the product is a human being (living), and within a short time all the human parts become obvious.

Why Should We Not Carry Out An Abortion?
1. It is against God’s desire and law
2. It leads to termination of human life
3. It destroys the lives of future leaders, scientists, teachers, nurses, doctors, engineers, business men, soldiers, etc
4. It could become septic and endanger the life of the mother
5. It could become complicated, thereby making the woman unable to have children when she is ready
6. It brings guilt feelings to the person involved.

When you are contemplating an abortion, you must think of whom to obey; whether God, professional ethics, your personal beauty or family name. It may be justifiable to terminate a pregnancy because the baby is already dead or macerated; or because of the fact that the Ultra Sound Scan showed that it has anencephalus. For any other reason (maybe for the mother’s health, Rubella, etc), allow God to decide what happens next.

If you ever get pregnant accidentally, kindly carry the pregnancy to term; have the baby. If your family refuses to accept the baby, and you are not ready to take responsibility, you should give it to the motherless babies’ home where it could be nursed or where somebody would legally adopt the baby.

Sports / Ghana's U-20 Female Team Beats Switzerland 2-0 by efoghorjos: 11:55am On Jul 22, 2010
It was a battle for survival as the Ghanaian U-20 female team took on Switzerland on Wednesday evening at the ongoing world cup in Germany. The team had drawn its first match 1-1 against USA and lost its second against Korea Republic by 4-2. So they needed to win their last match and hope that Korea Republic should beat USA by a wide margin in order to have hope of advancing into the quarter final stage.

The Ghanaians did remarkably well in spite of their size; they were relatively smaller than the Swiss girls. It was the Swiss who made the first attempt at goal through their number 9, who unleashed a terrific shot close to the Ghanaian 18 yard box, but the shot was stopped by the goal keeper. A goal mouth scramble ensued thereafter, and the ball was eventually cleared away.

In the 14th minute, Deborah Afriyie overtook a Swiss defender, but over pushed the ball into the waiting hands of the goal keeper. In the 17th minute, Elizabeth Addo lobbied the ball over the on-rushing Swiss keeper, but the ball went over the bar for goal kick.

In the 19th minute, Janet Agyir got a knock on her kneel and could not continue because of the injury: she was replaced with Cynthia Adobia.

In the 31st minute the West African side drew their first blood as the captain of the side, Elizabeth Addo connected a perfectly taken free kick into the right side of the net; with the goal keeper nicely beaten.

In the 39th minute the European goal keeper was dispossessed of the ball, but Deborah Afriyie lost the opportunity of making it goal number 2 as she shot over the bar. But the 42nd minute saw Elizabeth Cudjoe beating the on-rushing keeper to make it goal number 2 (and her third in three matches).

The African side had a better ball possession in both halves (52% to 48% in the first half and 51% to 49% in the second half). Despite their small size, they were able to check mate their opponents, dribbling from one end of the pitch to the other. Though the Swiss tried to intimidate them initially using their size advantage, they eventually began to apply more caution when it was obvious that the Ghanaians were in control of the game.

The European side stepped up their game a little in the second half in order not to concede more goals. Canetta Cora replaced Carolyn in the 46th minute. The Ghanaians got a corner kick in the 48th minute but it was poorly taken and could not produce any anxious moment.

The African side got their goal keeper beaten in the 55th minute, but one of the defenders quickly cleared the ball out before it could get to the goal line. Samira Suleman replaced Deborah Afriyie in the 57th minute.

In the 64th minute, Dadson’s free kick was parried by the Swiss keeper. The European side got corner kicks in the 67th and 74th minutes respectively, but none made any impact on the game. Elizabeth Cudjoe was replaced with Mercy Myles in the 76th minute

In the 78th minute, Chatal Fimian tried to wedge an on-rushing Dadson and got knocked down in the process. The medical team rushed into the pitch to revive her. She was thereafter taken out of the pitch on a stretcher, with an extrication collar around her neck. She got replaced with Nadine Baker.

Few minutes to the end of the game, a mild drama ensued as the Swiss coach tried to bully the centre referee. After series of shouting and gesticulations, he went back to his seat. Ghana won the match by 2-0, but unfortunately USA defeated Korea Republic to top the group with 7 points while Korea had 6 points. Ghana and Switzerland were automatically sent home. Other teams that made it into the quarter finals stage include Nigeria, Mexico, USA, Korea, Germany, Sweden, Korea People’s Republic and Columbia.

Politics / Terrorism; Is The World Losing The War? by efoghorjos: 11:34am On Jul 22, 2010
The war against terrorism seems not be achieving its objective and it also seems as if the terrorists are gaining more grounds and unleashing more terror on the world. Different tactics are employed by the people involved, even as the various nations are also trying their hands on different tools of curbing this act of violence and intimidation.

Several countries have suffered one form of terrorist attack or the other. The Lockerbie attack of 1988 is still fresh in our memories; the Saudi attack, the American embassy attack in Nairobi, the Indian attack by Pakistani terrorists, the attack on Egypt, the Madrid attack, the London attack, the Ugandan attack, and the September 11 attack on the United States of America, etc all indicate that the end to these acts does not seem to be near at sight.

The attackers seem to be shifting their well coordinated activities from one continent to the other. And when everyone is about to heave a sigh of relief, a new act of terror is unleashed. The developed countries of the world have employed their sophisticated technology to try to curb this trend but to no avail. They have even made some mistakes in the process of diagnosing the existence of terrorism in certain parts of the world.

Recent revelations that Iraq did not pose any threat before 2003 are instructive; it therefore means that adequate investigations should be conducted before raising an alarm as to the existence of terrorism. Wrong diagnosis is bound to worsen the situation rather than bringing it under control, since some of the people involved have always complained of oppression, intimidation and marginalization. There is therefore need to apply caution in handling this menace that is threatening the corporate existence of the world.

Since the use of force has not helped in bringing the situation under control, there is therefore the need to try other methods such as:

1. Dialogue: Dialogue remains the best way to solve a problem, especially the one that is hydra-headed. It is obvious that when a man realizes he is being forced to do a thing, he hardens his mind to do exactly what he feels pleases him and not what should please the next person. But when all come to the dialogue table, what could not be achieved on the battle front could be achieved. Think of how long America has been in Afghanistan and Iraq: the use of sophisticated weaponry has not stopped the stubbornness of the Afghan or Iraqi people.
2. Racism: Racism has also been one of the issues raised by the people involved in these offensives. There is need to stop racial discrimination or at least reduce it to the barest minimum in order to make those who have hitherto complained of racism to feel wanted by the world. Nobody should be made to exist in isolation on account of regional backwardness, poverty, illiteracy or colour difference.
3. Religious re-orientation: All major religions preach tolerance and the sanctity of the human life. However, some of the religious leaders have twisted the interpretation of their holy books to suit their personal selfish motives. They have brain-washed their followers to believe that there is gain in violence, killing, maiming, religious intolerance, religious wars, arson and suicide bombings. There is need therefore for Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, Hinduism, etc to re-orientate their followers to adhere to the provisions of their holy books and stop wasting their lives and that of other people. They should realize no one goes to heaven by killing another person (in whatever guise) or by committing suicide.
4. Change in curriculum: Government should also play a major role by adding religious tolerance into the curriculum of both primary and post primary schools so that every student should know right from elementary level that God does not in any way support violence. They should be made to respect the religious views of others without coercing anyone into accepting their own views. They should also be made to understand that Christians and Moslems are from the same grand parent – Abraham; as such there would be need to tolerate one another.
5. Cultural exchange: There should be cultural exchange between countries so they could understand the core values of one another, and ensure that the various cultures are respected. Cultural exchanges would foster unity amongst nations and reduce their level of hostility and intolerance toward one another.

The world would be a better place to live in, if we learn to tolerate one another and respect each other’s cultural and religious differences. We would no longer live in fears or sleep with our eyes open; the lives of future leaders, teachers, professors, engineers, nurses, doctors, accountants, pilots, pastors, imams, industrialists, etc would no longer be wasted. When human lives are no longer wasted, the world would develop at a faster pace, and everyone would be happier living together.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Chelsea's Joe Cole Signs For Liverpool by efoghorjos: 11:26am On Jul 22, 2010
Chelsea’s attacking midfielder Joe Cole has finally joined Liverpool FC and would begin to ply his trade at Anfield and would no longer be seen at Stamford Bridge from August 2010 when the 2010/2011 season commences.

The fast paced, skillful midfielder could not produce the scintillating display he is known for, for the great part of last season following series of injuries. But on the few occasions he donned the blue jersey, he gave a good account of himself. One of his great moments last season was when he scored that beautiful goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

With Michael Ballack already gone back to the German Bundesliga and now Joe Cole’s signing for Liverpool FC, Chelsea is beginning to lose some of her prized jewels. Didier Drogba is said to be courted by Manchester City and may leave if they present him with an irresistible offer.

Michael Essien has not still completely recovered from his long-standing injury. This leaves only John Obi Mikel who is also nursing an injury to handle the position of a defensive midfielder for the Blues. The new season is fast approaching and Chelsea needs to defend her premiership title and also go for the Champions’ league title.

They therefore need midfielders and youthful attackers to beef up the team if they are to realize their dream of winning the UEFA Champions’ league. There are players that performed relatively well during the 2010 world cup in South Africa that could be contracted to strengthen the team. Some of them include Mexico’s Don Santos, Germany’s Thomas Muller, Sweinsteigger and Podolski; The Netherlands’ Van Bronckhorst and Wesley Sneijder; Slovakia’s Robert Vittek, etc

We should also not forget that our captain John Terry is aging and would need a back up. Getting a reliable defender and strengthening the midfield and the attack are panacea for our long elusive Champions’ league title. The club must also spend its money wisely this time by making sure they get value for their money. They should avoid going for players that would not last for more than two seasons; they should rather get players that should stay in Stamford Bridge for at least three years, and have enough time to completely blend with the old ones and make an impact before retiring.

It is only when we invest in the right players that we would not feel the impact created by the exit of some of our very good hands who have contributed immensely to the success story of our team. We also need a good goal keeper like Nigeria’s Vincent Enyeama, Barcelona’ Iker Casillas, etc to help Petr Cechs.

The sky would be our limit if we get things right especially at the beginning of the new season. We would be sure to successfully defend our premiership title, win the UEFA Champions’ league and possibly the Club World Cup. When we get the right instruments, our able coach, Carlo Ancelotti would know how to use them to achieve the desired result.

Health / Hypertension: Why You Must Not Neglect Your Drugs by efoghorjos: 6:34am On Jul 18, 2010
There is this false belief or erroneous impression that hypertension can be cured like other disease conditions; thereby making some patients not to want to continue taking their drugs the moment their condition improves. The moment they check their blood pressure and get a reading of 120/80mmHg or less, they conclude they no longer need to comply with their regimen.

However, the painful truth about hypertension is that it is an incurable condition that requires the sufferer taking his drugs for the rest of his life, except God performs a miracle on him.

We once had a patient who was on a regular medical check up in our company clinic: he was also on doctor’s prescriptions which were supposed to be adhered to, and only be changed after the doctor’s review. He adhered religiously to his drugs regimen for sometime. Suddenly, he disappeared and never showed up for review for over 6 months.

Then one evening as workers were closing for the day, we received a call that there was an emergency situation that required the doctor’s urgent attention. The young man suddenly started to experience bleeding from the nose (epistaxis). The ambulance rushed him into the clinic where attempts were made by our doctor to stop the bleeding.

After series of methods were tried and there was no success, he invited two other doctors from the other nearby company clinics. The young man kept bleeding profusely from the nose for upward of about 4 hours. Ice packs, adrenaline packs, digital pressure, etc. were applied, yet no positive result. Then they resolved to apply an in-dwelling catheter, which was inserted into the nostril and inflated. The ball eventually acted as a plug over the bleeding vessel and the haemorrhage stopped. He had to breathe with his mouth for the whole night.

He was very lucky the rupture had only occurred in the nostril and not in the brain; if it had occurred in the brain he would have suffered from stroke, and perhaps he would have died from the complications. Imagine the number of hours he bled from the nose and the failed attempts to arrest the bleeding. If it had been in the brain, there would have been unrestricted bleeding and his life would have been in serious danger.

There is a need to adhere to medical advice and never to assume you know more than the professional doctor. Don’t ever think hypertension would go away by itself or by merely taking your drugs for a few months. Always check with your doctor before adjusting the dosage of your drugs, and before going off the prescription for sometime if you ever need to do so.

You should not allow anyone to deceive you by claiming to cure your condition with whatever remedy. Be sure your doctor places you on close monitoring for a specific period of time, and that he’s satisfied with the result and claims (if you ever take alternative medicine) before you shout ‘eureka’.

Religion / Re: Congrats Pastor Agbaje, Goodluck Jonathan Now The Acting President Of Nigeria. by efoghorjos: 10:50am On Feb 15, 2010
KunleOshob,
I think you are one of the big fools in this country who spark off religious crises. How would you speak blasphemously against God and his chosen vessels? First I noticed you used the word PLC in front of the church and then used "Lawd" in place of the Lord. Do you now assume God is your playmate or what? If you do not have respect for your parents, community leaders and your family don't expose your stupidity to the whole world in the name of being vocal.
I do not know who Pastor Joe Agbaje is, but I think all men of God should be respected and not for basket mouths like you to begin to judge them in advance when they have not done anything to warrant such attacks and insinuation. angry angry angry sad embarassed

You seem not to understand what marriage is before you went into it. It is place of sanctity. The bible says that 'marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
The only word I have for you is that you should repent and God will forgive you.

Family / 10 Signs That Your Spouse May Be Cheating On You by efoghorjos: 2:48pm On Feb 04, 2010
My friend bumped into my office sobbing and looking so pale and fatigued. “What is the matter?” I had asked her. “I think my husband is cheating on me” she replied as she tried to wipe her eyes dry. That is one of the commonest complains you hear from married couples or even from those intending to marry. How do we know or what should be the warning light that our spouse may be cheating on us?
1. Lateness from office: Your spouse has a predictable time schedule and maintains a fairly regular time of arriving from the office. But if this time table suddenly begins to change and he now comes back home late more often, it is a warning sign he might be cheating on you. It’s possible he is seeing another woman
2. Lying: If your spouse begins to lie about appointments or events it is an indication he might be cheating on you. If your spouse tells you for instance he was with his mother or a friend at a particular time and you later find out he lied you should suspect he’s having an affair outside.
3. Answering his phones in a secretive manner: When your partner suddenly becomes so private about answering his phones or prevents you from touching his phones, he’s hiding something from you.
4. Secret bank withdrawals: Withdrawing money secretly from the family bank account without a tangible reason for doing so may also mean he is taking care of someone else besides you.
5. Giving you a mistaken identity: If your spouse ever mistakenly called you another woman’s name or the other way round, suspect your spouse is seeing someone else.

Family / Re: A Question For D Men by efoghorjos: 11:03am On Feb 03, 2010
There may reasons which the couple is finding difficult to tell the world. let's come to think of it, why would a man in love and in good term with his wife do that? They may be for the following reasons:
1. Poor hygiene/body odour
2. Poor dental/oral hygiene (halitosis)
3. Snoring excessively
4. Excessive sexual demand
5. Excessive heat in the bedroom, etc

Politics / Re: Yar’adua: Nigeria May Opt For Two Vice Presidents by efoghorjos: 10:36am On Feb 03, 2010
In Nigeria any unthinkable thing can happen as against what obtains anywhere else in the world. Nigeria seems to be creating a world of her own. To have a president and one extra vice president come from the same zone is preposterous. It only suggests that those who are reasoning that way are afraid to trust other people from other geopolitical zones with leadership position.
I feel that section should be expunged from the proposed amendment as it's likely to create unnecessary friction, mutual suspicion and intrigues. If I may ask, how would the president delegate power in such an arrangement? Would the pendulum of power not be over tilted in one direction? The presidency is a Nigerian issue not a zonal, tribal or religious affair. Everybody should be given the opportunity to be a president in this country if he/she meets the guidelines. A particular section of this country should not see themselves as dictators from whom orders should be taken as far as the political affairs of the nation is concerned.
