bleble14:thanks ok we will do it but after the lapel I promised adedoyin .The following post is a reply to a question asked in one the groups on Facebook.i thought I shear it here too. Question- What is the basics of sewing .? Valisimo Fashion School 3 months Basic curriculum break down At the end of our 3 months basic class there are what we consider before issuing out certificate. 1 can the person take measurements accurately/translate measurements into fabric. 2 does the person understand the concept of cutting. Understand the principles of seam allowance while cutting and can the person cut and manipulate the 5 theories of block construction in making clothes eg 5 Theories of Block construction in pattern a, front block bodice, b, back block bodice. c, front block skirt d, back block skirt e, sleeve block 3.Can the person sew neatly with sewing machine.sewing to me entails ironing every seam as you sew.also does the person understand the concept of lining clothes well while sewing . 4 can the person analyse a style.eg she sees a dress and can tell immediately what was done on the outfit.is it a princess dart .gathers , V neck line etc. 5 orientation of a fashion designer. To survive in this fashion business a person needs the right orientation Which is fashion designing as a profession is NOT CHEAP!!! If a person works with cheap fabrics all the time such a designer can never be taken seriously by those that matter in the industry. If the designer is lazy she will never see the need to work on common mistakes while sewing which would end up affecting she level of service. If a designer doesn't see the need to take pictures of their finished projects how does she want to be a trend setter in the industry. In fact to these type of "tailors" photo shoot is a luxury instead of a necessity. So we help change their orientation so that at the end they are taken seriously as professionals in the business the ability to know these things shows a person understand the basic principles in sewing. thus we issue our certificate. Next is the lapel/collar class. |

The IRO part I measured 2 yards 10 inch for it and folded the 2 side edges with 2 inches while the top and hem line I used half inch just to conceal the label Kindly post your pictures here too in fact the first person to post gets the privilege of dictating our next general project. (This means you get to choose a problem area in sewing that you want me to shed more light on for you) So let's begin ![]() By the way this fabric was just 1k and the beads less than 500. ![]()

IRO AND BUBA TUTORIAL. This is very simple and you can make it your self. When making buba u must consider the hip measurement first because as long as it fits the hip it will likely fit the waist and bust. considering that the hip is bigger. 1, what ever your hip is you need about 1.5 to 2 inches on both side for freeness on the buba. 2, Next determine your desired length Fold fabric into 4 using the hip + ease + seam allowance to cut your buba Eg my hip is 44 Folded into 4 i will have 44÷4=11 To that 11 inches on 4 folds I added 2 inch each for ease and seam alowance Now instead of 11 inch on 4 folds I have 13 inch on 4 folds. Buba sleeve. usually it's measured from the center part of the neck down to the wrists.onlike tops and dresses that have the shoulder to armpit area cut away for a buba we don't cut it out its included in the sleeve measurement My sleeve length is 31 31-13 =18 + (what ever seam allowance you want for the hem ) = sleeve length. The sleeve circumference is usually big so it ranges from 8 to 10 for average ladies. Bigger ladies would use more than 10 inch for their sleeve circumference. For mine I used 10 +half inch seam Neck line Along the length of the neck I used 5 inches .on the breath I used 4 inches .and cut out. Next I traced out the pattern I wanted the beads to have and after sewing I just filled in the space.and that was it.

Let's Sew This Simple Dress Hi everyone. So I just explained this style to a group on Facebook and thought to share it with you here too. Please feel free to ask any questions You can do this your self. ![]() The first sketch is the style analysis. It shows the total cuts joined together as seen in the picture. The next 2 shows how the front is cut out. The one labelled left side has the false pocket parch design and buttons on it. The second side labelled right side can be cut in two ways. 1) you can cut it as a full front pattern, where the cut extends to the left side. 2) the second way is to cut and join the cut to the left side to complete the full block for the front pattern What you need to sew this dress. Depending on your size at least 2 yards Zip Thread Big Buttons Measurement areas needed Shoulder = Neck = Sleeve length= /circumference Bust = Waist= Hip = Length= Place fabric on fold while you cut. Don't forget to add seam allowance to your measurement for joining when you cut. Happy sewing.

After joining we would have some thing like this. You can then add your sleeve
|
Here is a diagram of how u can cut It the off shoulder with shoulder first like a regular blouse then later u cut out the sleeve through the neck and armpit area to format the off shoulder. The second diagram shows how you can deduct the unwanted shoulder area by going straight to cut out the neck and armpit area off.
|
What ever u get as your hip divide that into 2 for front block bodice and back block bodice. Length On the length you can take the length full from shoulder to the desired length as if you want to cut it with shoulder, then later you deduct the area u want to cut out on the chest. The second way is to deduct the area you want to cut out before cutting it. This means on like the other that u started from the shoulder down this one you will start from the neck down. On the front and back block add Seam allowance and place your material on fold in readiness to cut the neck and armpit area. Neck part On the neck part you determine how low and how wide you want the neck to be before cutting it. Don't forget seam allowance Then you use your measurement to shape out the bust waist and hip.
|
prettyamebo:Ok Off shoulder explanation Measurements areas needed. Neck depth Sleeve length from shoulder down /circumference- round bust under bust Point to point or bust apart like some call it. Waist hip
