PoliticsEFCC Probes Centenary City Project by egift(op): 5:31am On Oct 08, 2015
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has commenced investigation into a petition alleging corruption in the Cente-nary City Project initiated by the administration of former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

The anti-graft agency, Tuesday, invited the petitioners, who are operating under the aegis of Nigerian Unemployed Youth Vanguard, NUYV, to furnish it with information that would help it nail some top government officials in the previous administra-tion, who were said to have used the project as a conduit pipe to siphon public funds.

The initiative of the past government was meant to be a monument to commemorate Nigeria’s 100 years of nationhood.

Meanwhile, the petitioners, led by their National Coordinator, Mr. Solomon Adodo, while briefing newsmen after their meeting with EFCC investigators, said they were satisfied that those involved in the alleged fraud would be punished accordingly.

It will be recalled that erstwhile Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, had earlier asked a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory to award him N2 billion as general and aggravated damage for insults he said he had received over the Centenary City Project that was hitherto under his supervision.

Anyim, in two separate suits through his lawyer, Chief Mike Ozehkome (SAN), told the court that he had been called many derogatory names such as “419ner,” “fraudster” and “corrupt former SGF,” among others.

The ex-SGF wants the court to compel the National Vice Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (South-South), Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, and Deputy National Publicity Secretary of All Progressives Congress, Mr. Timi Frank, to retract the said damaging stories and apologise to him in six major dailies.

His coming back to the army after such a long period of time was one of Jonathan's several mistakes, I'm sure he will be regretting it now.
Jonathan did a lot of clueless things just to pander for votes from the north. Am glad we kicked him out. Nigeria cannot afford leaders who decisions are based squarely on selfish interests.

TonyeBarcanista:
All I see on this thread are bunch of APC hypocrites, pro-corruption and undemocratic element with highly depleted moral value. The same people alleging that Amaechi went against Jonathan because of corruption WILL always defend Amaechi when his corrupt record is mentioned. Same people are always handy to defend Fashola and Sylva's corruption. Some can KILL to defend the hypocrital paymasters of theirs.

@OP: Amaechi is the GREATEST traitor in Niger-Delta history. His treachery is not because of his support for Buhari (that's his right), he's a traitor because he starved Rivers indigens of their legitimate funds, used same to sponsor Buhari to power and was determined to deny the people of rivers state their fundamental right to vote on March 28 and April 11 elections. He belongs to the dust-bin of history!
Amaechi has no immunity, if PDP has any case against Amaechi, they can go to court, not some lame kangaroo panel headed by Patience Jonathan and Evans Bibi's laywer/judge. All the noise emanating from PDP is just a failed effort to stop Amaechi from being appointed Minister as revenge for not supporting the most corrupt president since 1999.

And Tonye if we post some of the things you wrote against Jonathan (some you try to modify to hide & yes we know deleting your last account was a quest to disassociate yourself from the venom you said against Jonathan and his corrupt tendencies). Amaechi will do no wrong in comparison to the campaign you waged against Jonathan.

Is it the place of Buhari to bolt out Saraki? Stop wallowing in ignorance and trying so hard to justify your affinity to protect known criminal. For your info, the CCT are the ones with the capacity to review Saraki's case and if found guilty can recommend the best dose of punishment. And as you can see, Buhari did not hinder the CCB and the CCT from doing their job.

Please try something else.

PoliticsArmy Forces Al-mustapha To Retire - The Punch by egift(op): 4:04am On Oct 08, 2015
A former Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, Maj. Hamza al-Mustapha, has been compulsorily retired from the Army.

His compulsory retirement, according to a military source, arose from his unavailability in the Army for a period of over 14 years, while he was away to face trial over the murder of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, a wife of the winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Chief M.K.O. Abiola.

Our correspondent on Wednesday sighted a copy of the retirement letter sent to Al-Mustapha from the Army Headquarters.

Following Abacha’s death on June 8, 1998, Al-Mustapha was arrested in October of the same year for the murder of Kudirat, an offence for which he was tried for 14 years.

The Federal Government also pressed other charges which did not succeed against Al-Mustapha during the period.

He was subsequently sentenced to death for Kudirat’s murder by a Lagos High Court in Igbosere on January 30, 2012, but he was discharged and acquitted on July 12, 2013 by a superior judgment of the Court of Appeal in Lagos.

But his letter of compulsory retirement indicated that the Army Council took the decision to force him out of service at its meeting held on August 5, 2013, more than a year after the Court of Appeal acquitted him.

The letter sighted by our correspondent on Wednesday was however dated July 14, 2014 and it put the period the former Head of State’s CSO was in the army at 33 years and 11 days.

It further indicated that the decision of the Army Council to retire him was based on the provisions of Paragraph 09.02(c)(5) of the Harmonised Terms and Conditions of Service for Nigerian Armed Forces 2012 (Revised).

The reason for his compulsory retirement, “undeployability arising from restructuring and/or lack of establishment,” is the fifth in the list of nine conditions as stated in the law which the Army Council can based such a decision on.

The letter with reference number, AHQ MS/G1/300/226, commended him for demonstrating “good conduct in the discharge of your duties” throughout his service in the army.

The letter partly read, “You are authorised to retain your substantive rank of Major. You are also entitled to gratuity and pension as well as Certificate of Military Service and Retired Officers’ Identity Card.

“You are entitled to your ceremonial dress, service dress and mess kit. However, you should wear uniforms corresponding to your rank at the time of retirement only when you are invited for military ceremonies; military weddings; memorial services of National Day celebration and Regimental dinners.”

Dickson and his clowns have resumed the yeye ploys of parading shamelessness. Instead of telling the people how much of his previous promises were fulfilled, accounting for all the money he has spent so far and outline his plan for the future if reelected - what we have is some miscreants as support groups. What a big shame.

With huge revenue and little population, Bayelsa should be among the finest States in Nigeria.
