PoliticsCan Chimaroke Nnamani Become Minority Leader In The 8th Senate? by egift(op): 6:34pm On Oct 12, 2015
As the National Assembly Election Tribunal sitting in Enugu State has sacked Senator Gilbert Nnaji representing Enugu East District in favour of Chimaroke Nnamani of the PDC - Can he (Chimaroke) become the new Senate Minority Leader?

My understanding is that the post is reserved for the party with the least number of representatives in the House. If remotely possible, I did prefer he stick to his PDC and not decamp to either APC or PDP. That way Akpabio will not have any other reason to be speeding here and there - having accidents anyhow.

OP, until you show valid proof that Rt Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Ameachi is not competent enough to become the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, there is nothing to discuss.

In your post, all I can make out of it, is that you will prefer Duke to Amaechi and not that Amachi will not perform better than all the individuals who have headed that ministry.

So Rt Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Ameachi as Minister of Niger Delta is very much on course. To God be the glory!
PoliticsRe: Housing Development In Enugu (pictures) by egift(op): 11:35am On Oct 12, 2015
DonProphet:
I think government is for all, both the poor and rich. Why is it that most of these housing estates are not targeted towards the poor in the society? The cost of these houses are so exorbitant that they are purchased by mostly politicians and drug/oil barons, while the common and average man in the society keep living in a suburb areas. They say housing for all (MDGs).
That is what happens when both Government and Private investor are looking for a quick cash when embarking on projects like these. I wish the government will explore more housing options that favours the poor too (like 3 to 5 stories smaller living units - imagine 10 buildings occupying 2 plots each, with Room and Parlour self-contain apartments) - It will take more occupants and be affordable too.

I can see that education is a problrm in Nigeria. Not school education o. But being educated in how things work. When people don't know who's responsible for water in their locality how will they know who to hold responsible. U mean a president should be concerned about providing water in village? When he's fighting Boko haram....... And if he does provide water in his village people will shout tribalism and clannish sentiments. With hate in the heart against the man Jonathan was destined to fail like a man who's judge and jury are his enemeis must be found gulity of whatever he's accused of
Are you saying the President not have even tell the State of Local Government Chairman to do it? Or he was enjoying so much in Abuja he could not remember that since he was a child that his fellow villagers do not have a portable water system?
PoliticsRe: Potable Water: Daura vs Otueke (Pics) by egift(m): 11:17am On Oct 12, 2015
That Jonathan was a failure is a proven fact.

If it is not possible to drill water in Otueke, there is nothing that stopped Jonathan from drilling multiple mega-boreholes in Abia, Imo, Anambra, etc and channel it to all the communities in South-South. After all under a Refinery was built in Kaduna while the oil is down at the South.

PoliticsAmaechi For Minister Of Niger Delta - Egift by egift(op): 10:45am On Oct 12, 2015
With President Buhari's 21 Ministerial Nominees already submitted to the Senate and screening exercise scheduled to commence tomorrow, I hereby wish to say that I will like above all things to see the emergence of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as the Hon. Minister of Niger Delta.

Although am personally not from the Region, but every right-thinking Nigerian greatly appreciate the contribution of the Region to the overall development of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, especially as it regards the Economy and Revenue generation. Nigerians also decry the neglect and pandemic corruption that have kept this region in its current state. With President Buhari's Change agenda in place, I see no other son of the soil in that list who is more capable to realistically execute the policies of the current administration's without fear or favour.

This is a ministry that is expected to formulate and execute plans, programmes and other initiatives as well as coordinate the activities of Agencies, Communities, donors and other stakeholders involved in the development of the Niger Delta region. From the Niger Delta Development Board of 1960, the Presidential Task Force on 1.5% which the Shagari Administration set up between 1979, the Oil Mineral Areas Producing Development Commission, OMPADEC of 1992 and the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC which came on board in 2000, there has been the need to do more for the Niger Delta region.

Now that the region and Nigerians at large have the opportunity in former Governor Chibuike Amaechi to have a very competent man as a representative of the President, and see to the development of the region - just as we expect for the rest of the country in all sectors, we cannot allow the PDP, who are driven by their quest for revenge, frustrate this opportunity.

And as the PDP scheme and plot how to drag down Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi from becoming a Minister by attacking, lying and defaming his name in every corner, I call on the Nigerian Senate to do their constitutional obligation, screen and confirm Chibuike Amaechi as Minister of the Federal Republic. If anyone in the PDP has any evidence of wrong doing against Amaechi, such a person should go to court and stop playing to the gallery.

As we expect the confirmation of Amaechi as Minister by the 8th Senate, I wish to state clearly that all the evil plots of the Association of Witches and Wizards, WailingMiscreants and their crew will not stop the good man. They can keep barking at the trees while the Niger Delta Region and the whole of Nigeria move forward.

Do have a great week. Drop your comments.

Cheers!
EGIFT

PoliticsRe: Amaechi's Ministerial Nomination: Buhari Government Has Failed The Moral Test by egift(m): 10:32am On Oct 10, 2015
[s]
TonyeBarcanista:
Should Amaechi be cleared as minister of the federal republic of Nigeria? Just like the 8th Senate did for Saraki, Buhari's decision to nominate Amaechi was influenced by political consideration without regard for his integrity/antecedent.

Buhari Elevates Politics Over Principle:
While I recognise the prerogative of President Buhari to appoint men and women that he considers worthy enough to form his cabinet, I beg to ask whether the President was in a trance when he pledged to appoint only people of credible character when elected. His recent nomination of messrs Rotimi Amaechi and Raji Fashola betrays his pre-electoral position on appointing "only" credible characters into his administration. Though Amaechi and Fashola are yet to be charged before a court nor convicted, morality demands that they be allowed to FIRST clear all allegations against them either through being certified 'Innocent' by the investigators or through the courts(if they are indeed innocent) before given new political responsibilities. Buhari's nomination of these men (and others) despite the allegations against them is a testament that he upholds politics over principle.

Who Is The 8th Senate Trying To Impress?
I burst into laughter when Senate spokesman Otunba Dino Malaye was reading out conditions for screening. I laughed more when he mentioned 'Asset Declaration' and 'thorough scrutiny'. What does the 8th Senate want to do with the asset declaration of ministerian nominees when they (senators) are yet to publicly declare there own asset before the public? Are they not the same people that are led by a man that is currently undergoing criminal trial before the Code of Conduct Tribunal for declaring false asset before CCB? What thorough scrutiny will the 8th Senate subject the ministerial nominees to when only two weeks ago they passed vote of confidence on a man that is undergoing criminal trial? What question will SP Saraki ask would-be ministers? What moral legitimacy does the 8th Senate have to reject a nominee on account of alleged corruption when only recently they passed vote of confidence on their President that is an alleged criminal? Who are they trying to impress?

Kudos To Senator Sekibo But...:
My position on Amaechi is very clear, he's morally unfit to represent Rivers state in the Federal Executive Council until he is cleared of all allegations against him. I sincerely commend my very own senator, George Sekibo for submitting petitions to the Senate on behalf of the ever loving people of Rivers state. But I have to admit that I don't see the petition scaling through for two reasons; One, the President is well aware of these allegations but he has shown that he doesn't care; Two, the 8th Senate is led by an alleged corrupt official that is presently under trial before a tribunal. There is the burden of moral legitimacy hanging on their neck. However, Amaechi's confirmation or otherwise cannot invalidate the allegations against him.

Nigerians Must Decide Where They Stand:
Nigerians are a special set of people. The people that went on protest in solidarity of Tinubu when he was being tried before the CCT, are the same group that were mocking a certain group that were protesting and showing Solidarity for the alleged corrupt Bukola Saraki. The group of people that were insisting that Saraki should not be tried for corruption is the same group that is crying that Amaechi and co should not be cleared due to the corruption allegation on their neck. The group that was calling for the head of Princess Oduah when she spent N260million on TWO cars in 2013 is the same group that defended Fashola for spending N78million on personal website. The group that defended Oduah then is the same group that has been calling for Fashola's head. Are both groups not confused and contradicting themselves? Is it proper to support misconduct when it suits us and oppose same when it doesn't? It is time for us as a people to define what we want and what we stand for.

Finally, by nominating Rotimi Amaechi and other people of questionable characters to serve as ministers of his government, President Buhari has betrayed the public confidence that was reposed on him on March 28. Like his predecessors, he has shown that he is ever ready to 'suspend' his principles in order to reward political allies. Indeed, President Muhammadu Buhari belongs to some people, he doesn't belong to everybody.

May God Bless Us All
