okeyz: @ danka 7777, only roughnecks/roustabout do not need a college degree to get into it, but the rest u need at least a college degree and it still depends on the cadre, for a lead senior drilling engineer , you need to have a masters with at least not less than 15 years solid hands on experience along with previous projects been worked on as a lead, the oil and gas industry has changed a lot since the way it use to be, drilling is going to deepwaters now and improved machinery and equipment are been manufactured and modified, thus it needs highly skilled personnel to man these rigs, so my friend the game has moved a step higher ,where u can get in without a college degree for this positions is if you have considerable experience, like say 20 years and you might have worked in different parts of the world,and really know your stuff, you might be very well be considered, even at that, someone with a univeristy degree has to recommend you !!
with macondo very much green in our memories , i doubt if the top coys will be hiring some one with out a college degree, at least you have to learn the basic.

for the guy with masters in subsea working as a roughneck, his ascension will not be that long,why, he has addition knowledge which is fellow roughnecks may not know, and might not even know.
If i am a rig suprintendent and i find out my roughneck has a masters in subsea, i will keep a close watch for that guy and see if he has leadership qualities, if so , then he is on his way to a higher responsibility. NO KNOWLEGDE IS A WASTE WHEN IT COMES TO WORKING IN THE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY.

Thanks very much @okeyz for making it clear to the dude, I think I didnt get the info well before, the 6 months roustabout and 6 months roughneck positions are just an intro to the rig environment, after the first year he is going into Subsea proper where he will be working with BOPs, risers and other subsea equipments.

My brother read Subsea Engineering in the UK and has just gotten employed as an ART(accelerated rig trainee) at transocean where he will start as a roustabout then Derrick man and upwards, I am just wondering if this position is the manual rig job type or is it a skilled job that can position him for greater opportunities in the future. Thanks. How does the ART programme at Transocean work?.

I would like to ask if anyone knows what its like working with transocean with respect to Career development, Staff treatment, Pay package (driling Trainee for example) are the training courses frequent and how many of them are abroad and most importantly is it a good place to work?

Congratulations, I just want to know if BCIE gave you a cover letter for free too, because PFL can only check your docs n assist u for free but will not give a cover letter.

They gave me the cover letter absolutely free and that is how they did it for others.

I just collected my Student visa now, please praise God for me oooooo Everybody.

I cannot thank God enough this is just at work.

I know God that took this to this stage will surely do it for thise that are beleiving him.

I submitted on 03-09-2010 and collected today, I went through BCIE and they didnt charge me a dime but did a very good job.

My advice is to always seek for advice from expert people like those on this thread and an agent that is recognised by BCIE for everybody that cares to know BCIE is free and they very thorough in their scrutiny AND ABOVE ALL PRAY HARD FOR GOD'S FAVOUR.

If you have not gotten your CAS yet, you can indicate to the school that you will only be using your certificate, or submit your certificate only when applying for the admission, so that only the certificate can be listed on the CAS. Cos the key issue is for the transcript not to appear on your CAS as evidence of documents, else you might need to submit it.

If the evidence document is your undergraduate degree, then you should be able to use your transcript and your certificate if you have it. Mind you, if it is stated as Undergraduate degree certificate, then they will expect to see a certificate.

Thanks a lot for your answer, I have my certificate can I use just that? I just want to avoid the transcript wahala if possible. because it takes long to get any document from the university I attended and I have to start paying people up and down again.

I am planning to apply to the embassy with just my Certificate and maybe my university admission letter as evidence of my undergraduate degree, I want to know if this is advisable.

For the section 5.5, you can tick that box in line with the mode your school used to give you the unconditional offer. If a test was conducted for you, then you can tick in the box, and state what test. But if you were not interviewed, but granted admission only by submitting your documents, then I think you do not need to tick that box, or tick NO. Progress on a continuing course of study to me are for those who are currently running a program in their school here and are switching or transferring to a course or level over there (e.g a year 3 student here who wants to run a degree course over there, will normally be assessed by progress and fixed into like year 2 or so. Just my opinion though, I might be wrong.

If your CAS states the evidence as your Bachelor's Degree, then I think you should only submit that document and all other documents you used in getting the admission just as justwise has said.

Now my question is will it be necessary to submit a transcript from your undergrad university, if the it was stated the the evidence used to access the academic ability was the undergraduate degree. and no other document was stated.

I have one question to ask.

Does one really need to present a transcript to the embassy?

My Visa Letter does not mention anything like transcript, it only mentions my first degree as the basis on which I was given the admission, I hope I do not have to go through the rigours of obtaining transcript again, I plan to use my Certificate.

And what is this issue about letter of attestation all about, I feel the embassy should be able to trust the judgement of the school, they would not have given the admission if the documents were fake in the first place (just my own opinion).

Please I need clarification on these.

What we are seeing is the benefit of Good Education from unbiased, sincere and well trained lecturers that are willing to help their students to learn.

Our Public univerisities are still stuck in their old ways of teaching, I think instead of criticising the Private Universities ( I mean the serious ones) we should pray that the God should help the not so privileged ones to have a good education in our public universities. What happened to our secondary school system might soon happen to our universities.

I only hope that the Government will come in Upgrade facilities in our Universities, and also that companies will sponsor world class research in our Universities.

I know if most of us had the benefit of world Class Education we will surely think differently about this result, because when you are taught well you will perform well.

Is it true that if your passport has not been used before, it might limit the chance of being granted a student Visa. Someone told me that to improve my chances, I need to at least av used the passport even if it is just to Ghana, so that it would at least av a countries stamp on it.

I have an unconditional offer and I have paid part of the school fees, but I am just wondering is this really the right move, especially for am engineer is studying in UK a right move considering the oppurtunities available and the huge expense of schooling in the UK. Is it possible to get jobs in other countries like Norway, Denmark, Canada easily with a UK degree.

Please I need expert opinions, I just need to weigh my options.

If Opera is the deault browser, anytime the phone connects to the internet through any application at all, instead of going through the nokia browser, it will connect through opera.

Therefore you can use maps, weather, and all other cool apps very effectively using opera ( if it is possible to make opera the default browser).
