Hi ALL,

I have 2 admissions Newecastle University for Offshorer Engineering and University of Aberdeen for Safety Engineering.

I like Offshore Engineering but because of the Industrial location of Aberdeen I am seriously considering going for the Safety Engineering.

I need expert advise on this issue, experienced responses will be very much appreciated in terms of oppourtunities open for me in both feilds and where is best for me to study to be better placed in terms of job search, industrial contribution to my project work.

lucida_ng how are you doing, I just saw from ur post that u are currently a student of University of Aberdeen.

I am in dilenma here, I am torn between studying Offshore Engineering at Newcastle and Studying Safety Engineering at Aberdeen (with the aim of specialising in offshore) (I have admission for both) can u please give me an idea from your experience so far which one you will rather choose.
I will also like to know if the Global financial meltdown is taking its toll heavily on the industry as in is recruitment still going on.

I will also know if someone with like part of the fees and living cost from here will be able to work and make up for the rest over there,

If working there does not work how do you see a degree in Offshore Engineering from National University of Singapore (cheaper than the other 2 and very well rated even more then the other 2), how do they recieve graduates from this school in the industry.

Sorry I am bombarding you with all these questions, I just dont want to make one costly mistake, I want to get all my facts ready before I make a move.

Any other person with a good response will be highly appreciated.

I can see that HERIOT WATT and ROBERT GORDON UNIVERSITY are not well ranked Globally. Is this jist about them one of the Top Schools for Oil and Gas employers anything to take seriously enough to consider them at all. Because I can see that even their prices for these courses are quite high (above E14,500), and I believe the price a university charges is directly related to the quality it offers. Kindly help me clear the issue on this.

I want to know if I should starve myself more for any of those two or just settle for Newcastle or Aberdeen.

Go abroad and have a masters, if you have admission already quit your job, you already have experience in a multinational firm and when u combine that with a foriegn masters wait and see the result, since u have the money go to a good school, If I were you that is what I will do.

Congrats to those that have recieved thier letter for medicals, may you have a rewarding experience with NLNG.

I opted not to post again because I thought Bros Opoks was making a mockery of what we were doing but since then a lot has happened and as they say a lot of water has passed under the bridge and now I know better, These few days I have come to regard opoks in high esteem, Guy your wisdom exceeds your years _{e be like say you you and methuselah go the same nursery school self.}

Kuwena you started this thread and you stired everyone with so much optimism, are you now going to act like the general that leads his men to the war front only to chicken out when he sees the enemy. I beleive every knows that getting into NLNG is not a hundred percent certain to everybody do not make a fuss about it. A lot of peeps here are the bread winners of thier family i.e they responsible for all the schooling and feeding of their youngers ones and still provide for their parents, you know how demanding this can be, not that I dont sympatize with you ooo!, but now you only have you and your brother and you have more than enough to support the two of you. So why not just thank God and move on, besides I know that you are among the best placed graduates in your set my Guy thank God ooo no  just contemplate any useless thing, but if u want to sell your soul abeg come and me, I will buy it and sell it and make my own margin, in life you win some and loose some, I know have lost a lot but U know say God no dey sleep. he knows what is best for you. It seems you have not been following this thread well enough, we have said times with out number that wether we enter NLNG or not let God's will be done and I know that is the reason ing of everyone's heart but what is surprising here is the way you question the faith of well meaning individuals. Pls opokonwa we are well aware of what can happen, the goal of this thread is optimism and faith. If u are an NLNG hopeful too I advice u to start showing some faith and believe.

Every statement nade on this thread is a statement of faith, that is one thing that can't be taken away from God's children may be God didn't tell u to ask and it shall be given unto you but he told me.

I was with a friend yesterday he served in Port Harcourt and he has an uncle that works in NLNG, he took some clips for me on his mobile phone and I must confess that the environment is one of a kind in this country. He also told me that the plant at night looks very beautiful due to the lighting, he also showed me a picture of the jetty I also saw one of the BGT ships, MY God this is where I want to work, I am really looking forward to practising my profession with this company, a chance I dont have presently.

Like Joshua and Caleb who went to spy on the land of cannan in the Bible, I am saying that we are well able and we shall get to the promised land. Lets just keep thanking God for his victory.

I really can't wait too long to work in NLNG, but I pray GOd gives me all the patience I need.

Adarian I'm glad to realise that I am now a messanger from God thru my pastor, well I picked something this sunday though, I learnt God is ready to do anything we ask but we are our major set backs i.e we are the hamper Gods works in our lives when we indulge in acts that are in contrary to the will of God so lets keep believing and acting ln line with what God has told us to do.

Jill thanks for your reasoning, I know good companies like NLNG do take thier time to recruit new employees even going by the past months we should be able to confirm this. one thing I pray for now is that the time between medicals and final offer will not exceed 1 month, I just can't wait to join the NLNG team, I feel I have a role to play in that company.

Please I didn't mean to be negative, I thought I made it clear that I wish we will start by December, what I was saying is remote possibility which I pray does'nt happen, 'because the way it is now we already NLNG staff in spirit.

Please do not be alarmed all I needed was assurance that we will not have to wait for long because this wait is very difficult.

This is the last week of August surely the time for those letters to come has arrived so lets be expecting that joyous shout of victory which will soon come out from our mouths.

Guys even after the medicals it might at least a month for them to finally get to us oooo, this is going by previous experienses and from friends who I know have got big jobs some even have to wait for like 2 months. however then the wait won't be like this one because then we are like 99% sure of getting the job. so we might be looking at starting may be December. Sorry I don't mean to be negative but I think that is the way it might go except NLNG is in a hurry to have us. Then they can speed things up this is what I pray for.

What a great statement of faith. U know yesterday I w3ent to church My pastor was preaching about faith and the power God has given us, He gave instances of Joshua who commanded the sun to stand still for hours, also Isaiah who told the sun to shift 10 degrees backward to prove to Hezekiah that God has added 15 more years to his life also Elisha commanded drought for 3 years. All these goes to show the power in utterance and I say again NLNG BRING OUR LETTER !!! by faith I believe it is done. This is a good one Kuwena.

@kuwena why you dey vex, not everybody has the ability to think and flow with words as u do, saw ur posts yesterday but couldnt respond 'cos normally I rarely post during the day except early in the morning.

I said earlier that you will never walk alone, and I can assure you that we are still here with u, don't give up on ur people yet remember how we started now we have come a long way together this is not a time to get upset.

I sincerely beleive that we are a privileged few out of about 18,000 that started this race only about 450 of us still have the hope of getting into NLNG and that Hope is something that I sincerely thank God for and soon it will no longer be a Hope its going to be a reality. The major challenge before us now is patience, which is what we Humans lack the most, I can understand our anxiety but if only we can see things like God I believe right now we will be relaxed well that one of the various reasons our God is greater than we are.

Now that we are approaching the last days of this month, which by the way has proved to be one of the fastest month this year, our effort should be geared towards thanksgiving because it is a sure fact that God has done it for us.

I am always online and I am looking forward to seeing posts from you guys 'cos I really look forward to ur postings everyday.

Another reason for this thread aside from encouraging each other is also to post useful information thanks to @eessah and @ pisky pls we look forward to more information.

Hi all, how is everything hope it's all good?

@kuwena you know I share your feeling, infact I didn't just feel it I had a physical sign.

Last week precisely on wednesday I got to the office, usually I resume first at about 6:20 am and guess what I found directly under my table an NLNG KEY HOLDER, I couldnt think of how it got there because I know no one in my office is linked to NLNG in any way. I picked it up , thanked God and till today I am still using itand I am holding it because I believe this is an assurance GOD has sent to me, and u know what the caption on it read? it was NLNG COMMISSIONING. Now looking at it God has given me the key to commission NLNG im my life. I really didn't think there could be such a coincidence as this. Now my faith is stronger. How did the keyholder got there still remains a miracle because no one in my office has lost his/her Key holder, SO I CLAIM MY MIRACLE BY FAITH.

I just thought to share this testimony to you all, because this one is not a dream it happened, this is to show that God is with us.

So keep up the faith every body because GOD is in support of our quest.

@pisky and @eesah, I greatly appreciate the information and I believe every member of this forum do share my feeling. The month of August turned out to be very fast after all, all of sudden it is the fifteenth of august.

Thank God for the corpers that just passed yesterday, I say welcome to the world of endless possibities.

Personally I think the letters should start flying after the 23rd of August, if U remember the interviews ended July 23rd, moreover if they were waiting for corpers to pass out, they have done that yesterday. So lets keep hoping for the best because everything will soon be confirmed.
