@Jenju, I must confess I've been impressed by your customer care and focus these past weeks, in addition to the enhanced payment flexibility terms. Now that our transaction has largely advanced almost to shipping stage, I'm sure we'll be more comfortable now to manage updates in the public domain - our own Nairaland ![]() When you are up to it, I'll suggest posting of my MDX now the extra external accessories have been fitted. Maybe you post in/out pictures here; I no go mind. That is, pictures for both shipping pre-prep and post-prep. Warri's environmental sanitation go don finish now, so I fit run comot house as person wan use my car for her wedding today - u wan try me as corporate driver? ![]() PS: With new info wrt clearing costs and our specific experience, maybe you may expediently revise subject price on this Thread in avoiding customer surprise |

fotodaddy:I can imagine that the grin is likely to remain pasted on your face, since your last posting ![]() Congratulation man. Make u tell us when the red (abi na maroon) wheels comot for de gate of Lagos port, |
I've missed a bit of action as yesterday was too busy for me - family/"soccer"tainment (my two teams ManU and Real are having quite some fun). A busy schedule all morning, till now. Let me rush through this and forever keep my peace, fotodaddy:@fotodaddy, I still have a very broad smile on my face 2-3mins after reading your last thread ![]() A very good satiric piece, and quite some humor to still the rumble through my system. @Inspired, Bros, I really don't want any refund - wetin that fit do to my financial position? Except if you wan give me 2.4m to settle Jenju as outstanding for Acura MDX ![]() I requested for a simple answer to my question to you about when you placed the supposedly last call wrt this transaction. Four posts thereafter and no answer (just like closure to issues around aux gear for the Liberty jeep)! My "last testament" was supposed to be a one-liner but I'll give you the expo, which is that Es's phone was misplaced that same Sunday 13/4/2008, and that line 08035200743 yet to be retrieved. So I for catch you if you be write anything after the time of loss (although if you write now say na 1hr after his 8AM call, I still fit catch you as I dey the profession and as na business line, person fit retrieve call records to line up to a given period). The interior and rear are quite ok. The pictures now as then, show such a "new" and virgin car (from mechanical reworks), why by proxy I rushed through the deal believing "it was too good to be true". I believe the accident impact was front right. I know a little about cars and panel beating - trust me, my first car, A Peugeot 504GR was a good experience ![]() PS: When my wife's VW Polo was delivered by Honda Place in Nov2002, same intuition made me reject the offered vehicle and wait for next batch (this can be confirmed with THP PHC office). And months/years later when I was closer to the mtce staff (one of which drove the rejected car to my office), I was vindicated. I won't be looking into this Thread hereafter as it will serve no purpose. I'm still nonplussed that you are still clutching hard at straws, why you smartly have tried bamboozling us with convenient neat pictures - like how Idi Amin's Govt would do in showing only the faces of victims gunned to death, and maintaining death through car accidents. Meanwhile: 1) I never wrote of existing damaged windscreen. I reported that "windscreen 'rubbers' were not neatly holding (glass has obviously been replaced)". Another smokescreen? 2) Outside of the picture of engine compartment (left side and assuming pic is that for my dad's car), is where the wiper's water tank should be. Not displayed 3) Outside the picture of engine compartment (bottom; S/W) is where we could see the missing studs, absence of cover b/w grill and radiator. Also not displayed 4) Outside the picture of engine compartment (right side) would have shwon the dangling end of air filter (resting on battery/body of car) 5) First picture; bottom right of right headlight may not show clearly >1" protrusion of headlight (reason can also be seen in engine compartment; not displayed) 4) Pic4 is too dark to show signs of windscreen replacement. Well, etc. E.I, I can see from the number of posts you have here that you are new to the site.@Sultaan, Of course I'm new to Nairaland, as na something dey chase rabbit if you see am broad daylight run pass ya doormouth ![]() I appreciate your views. You are right wrt poor purchase mechanism;some of which I earlier explained viz: - apparent trust built up over that period in seller - Es (my brother on the ground) not having time to properly assess car, talkless of logistics of getting a mechanic (as mgr over operations at the Audit firm he is employed, he was hosting a workshop that period and had to "shoot out of/back to office" to sight the car; I requested his visual check and our payment) - I admit Es's error of judgement in not spotting issues (which I saw in 2mins); at least checking under the hood before payment transfer. We've agreed before now that he is "less into cars" An an individual I've dealt with used car purchases since June 1992, doing four till my last used car purchase in 2002; after which I had hoped never to touch used cars again. Note: the one I gave out last month, that which I use currently and another currently being processed, are "tear rubber" types (Honda Place for my sales/mtce details; any of Inspired, fotodaddy, Jenju and recently, Richie can privately provide you with my full details). So Jenju, na coins (or lack of am) dey make me dey do that "used" Acura MDX, as family vehicle ![]() @Damola1, I thought it was Inspired that was supposed to be clarifying? ![]() Of all cars I have used, I've only sold two and hope never to sell again, but "dash out" to loved ones (as God provides). Because of my pains when selling - I sort of "explain too much"; maybe too transparent! Expose too much to would-be buyer. All the while hoping never to have situation where buyer later complains. Having a conscience that cannot stand a buyer somplain about non-disclosures etc. Maybe why my (our) expectations were so high. Not much I can further clarify really, except quit at this stage and look forward. This is really not worth my time/emotions sha as at least the car (in question) is still in use and maintainable. It is only the sour taste wrt expectations. Life must continue. To show my old man good faith the weekend of his last issues with the car, Es and I were compelled to as firstborns, to call him in conf early one morning and promise them a brand new car as more appropriate stress relief, when my mum hits her own milestone (in the very near future if Christ tarries). In all we thank God that we are alive and well. No shaking by God's grace (of course Christ remains the source of all things we are, have or hope to be). |
inspired_m:@ Inspired, This will bore reader (already must be boring) if carried too far, so lets aim as closure. "One Lesson Learnt. Never Deal with 2 Different Pple On the Same Side, at Different Locations For the Same Car," Pls don't create any room for wrong assumptions to readers. Almost all our scores of discussions in the 5wks+ of our romance, were conference calls generated by me either from office landline or mobile in the evenings. Many times you sent SMS for me to call, and I would call when free (if during work period), also getting Es in conference if he was free (as was the case most times). There was never any gap in communications, as Es and I even outside this transaction, normally communicate almost daily on personal and biz issues - I just called him 20mins ago on stocks trend! "If the defects on the Car were so much aggravated as painted here, Why didn't you make me formally Aware ?" Are you sincere with yourself here? What would be my expectation calling you further, after you were already informed? A refund of my 1.6m and car refund to you, or what? You mentioned the change the rims without stating it was not for free. Was it? Even the headrests you failed to deliver, did you seriously attempt at sourcing it, or for free; you kept asking us for 50% of estimated value. All we heard was your lean 20k profit out of the sale, so what would I expect calling you after Es had restated the obvious on Sun 13th? To waste my credit any further, or cry on your shoulders? ![]() Point of order. Es called you last on issues with Corolla. That call was made about 8AM on Sunday 13/4/08; I was with him and remember that occasion vividly. I'll ask and plead that you carefully have a think-through before replying to this. Kindly state when (date and approx time) you called Es after AM on Sunday 13/4/08. I hope to rest my case with "last testament", after your reply. |
nkc:@nkc, Ol' boy leave Viperman alone. I never meet the guy but the impression I get from Es na say de guy dey on top of his job; de issue of the raps na joke sha. I didn't perceive any untoward accent when we discussed, so please put de guy for ground, ![]() As par your question, e be like say we go leave that matter sha. Of course Es called him, in my presence! About 8AM on Sunday 13/4/2008. We had just finished reassessing "the damage" and Es called him to express further displeasure; at that time enumerating the obvious physical defects (paint work, issues in engine compartment/windscreen area etc.). During that conversation, Inspired promised to call Es back, |
« #54 on: Yesterday at 06:52:57 PM »@nkc, Me too dey IT world - Telecoms Infrastructure. My electrical degree na for theory, no practical experience for electrical power/controls. Telecoms na wetin I narrow on these past almost two decades post NYSC - Telecoms is a broad spectrum through ![]() Dis IP address thing, dummies can be sold. Person fit provide two different IP address from same desk just by connecting through two different ISPs, so no guarantees except you know de thing well, well. Yes O! That put a smile on my face, thanks |
inspired_m:@Inspired,« #58 on: Today at 07:21:33 PM »No Viperman, As I earlier indicated, even with my disappointment and anger, I didn't intend on getting personal with you wrt that fateful sale/buy in the Forum. It was the circumstance that provided the outlet. Nontheless, I want you to get it straight that maybe a lot of your 30ish customers as claimed, may also have had sisimilarssues and not gotten around to share their experiences. I personally may have procrastinated for much longer and finally decide to just let it go - 1.6m is a lot of money but is what it is, a tool for our pleasure. Not worth getting hypertension over. I won't play God here, so sincerely appreciate the fact that you have shown some element of remorse through your replies. BUT please kindly retrace your steps (Celtel can provide you records of calls/SMS to your phone) and try to remember that Es called you on the day after the fateful trip. He informed you of the mishap! This is definitely not the first time you are reading or knowing about this! That excuse just gets to me (once again) as I see the attempt to play to the gallery (and possibly garner some sympathy-support). If not, if indeed you thought the deal was perfect: - why didn't you call us after the weekend the car left Lagos? - why didn't you follow up with calls concerning my Honda Pilot project we spent so much time/email over (that was to come after consummation of our first transaction; remember?) - why didn't you try reaching Es wrt his intention to purchase his wife's car through you at end April/May? - ditto for his old V-boot he intended to fling through you? - then the possible sourcing of car for my junior sister (who was then contemplating one) Ol' boy, I still have some of the emails O! Also my MDA phone still retains many of the SMS sent/deleted wrt these discussions. My personal view is that you knew the state of product you sold (would be so ironic if you didn't; then you be on top of your profession). I guess Forumites will appreciate you coming out clean to the world with unreserved apology(ies) wrt not just my dad's Corolla, but subject 4WD 2003 Liberty under contention. "You never Called me after the Purchase to tell me some things were wrong with the Car, Not until Now. I Personally think thats very Unfair." Abeg recall this sentence. Maybe I no personally call you (legal technicality?) but my bros call you , and you know, abi? "I'm Surprised You did not mention anything about the First 5 Cars which I got for you/Es As an Alternative with No Issues, Viperman being a witness in One" I acknowledge that you sourced for inspection 3 cars wrt my dad's birthday and 2/3 wrt my our wedding gift for my kid brother. We had issues with cost/state of cars for my kid brother the days following payment for Corolla, so never got anything firmed up. Also Es & I were still holding our breathe over the delivery of the Corolla's headrests, so sort of lost interest continuing further with you (FYI my wife's 5yr old VW Polo Classic, which my kid brother always asked to buy off me; untampered odometer reading of 38,000km!, was presented to him at his wedding - lucky guy). For my dad, yes we (Es physically) browsed through your 2003 Camry (supposedly used by an expat), 2001 CRV (we preferred shape of 2003/4 models), then Alex's 2004 Accord. Yeah I know Viperman of course! I didn't wish to bring him into the messy situation, why I referred to his real name in describing the basis of Es not being good with cars (read early part of my last note, ala Alex). I called you guys from the bank during your second road test (when I thought the deal was almost sealed), on standby to effect telegraphic transfer. Sure remember that fast talking young guy with 99% raps. ![]() Maybe we could have had done better taking his 2004 Accord. Then maybe we would have had no issues continuing with you through the other transactions (Jenju for no enter my picture in that case). Just maybe, |
« #32 on: Yesterday at 10:48:58 PM »Frankly speaking/writing, on reading this Thread earlier this afternoon, I thought ziontrain was another alias of Jenju The styles are so much alike. The questioning techniques and interests also jiving ![]() Then the coincidence of both being based in the US. But the locations in the US brings the matter to rest (I think), PS: Also my thinking concerning Babeisme, who I'm suspecting to be one of other dealers/sellers that have contributed to this Thread - una forgive the intrigues wey dey my mind O, |
« #26 on: Yesterday at 07:14:48 PM »@Inspired, This is not the way to do it, i.e. express remorse - I'm surprised some others are buying it. The Carfax issue that bedeviled our transaction for the few days before and after sale, apparently has found you out. And to think that for over a month, my Lagos based brother (Es) and I must have spent several 10,000s naira on phone bills with you while trying to share our dreams (target cars in 2008), get alternative deals and most of all, build a relationship! The Corolla that was transferred to us on Friday 4/4/2008 was a damaged vehicle and you sure took opportunity of the facts that: - I was remote in the transaction - Es is "not (quite) good with cars" (in Alex's words during discussions around one of the alternatives) - Es was busy the day of the visual inspection (I called him out of a workshop he was coordinating in his office, which he had to run back to after a few minutes "browse" ![]() - info we shared wrt dates (dad's birthday/kid brother's wedding) became a very useful tool in your hands to pile pressure wrt getting the transaction sorted out fast! - we dropped our guards, always thinking we were dealing with a guy that walked the talk! - we forgot we were still in Naija (apologies to those that still choose to be straight; cash temptations notwithstanding) Few hours after full cash payment through FBN fund transfer when Es shockingly observed the rear headrests were missing, you kept us trusting through your sweet raps, for the replacement, until Es travelled to deliver the car the following weekend (when we were to present as a birthday gift to our dad). You never kept your promise. The expectation cost him a day back in Lagos. And you never gave an apology! This is to re-state (Es already informed you), that the vehicle broke down that very first trip out of Lagos, near Ore. The wires used to hang the radiator broke causing it to sag, and radiator fan dropped, cutting through the dangling hose supplying the power steering fluid tank. This is to inform you that following the week after we presented this wonderful 2004 (almost new we told the joyous old man!) car to my dad: - the power steering went kaput; temp guage hit the roof etc, because the bolts holding the A/C compressor gave way (disrupting all associated belts) - I've had to send him a handsome 5 figure sum as subsidy to his full rework of all anomalies we observed with the car. Anomalies not limited to the list below: - absence of water tank for windscreen wiper (none!) - search for and purchase of complete air filter housing (you/whoever you sold on behalf, placed an air cleaner of another model, held by strings to where the housing would be; with opening to engine completely sealed out!) - fitting of rear mirror that couldn't stay fixed to windscreen - search for and purchase of rear headrests etc. These almost entirely defeated the purpose we spent so much time and money, 1.6m! getting the mtce free car. The supposed treat to my old man, has been another source of his visits to spare parts market and mechanic! Just days after receiving vehicle ![]() Not 100% your fault as you are right with "Let the Buyer do Proper Checks". Es arrived too late in the night the day it came for the weekend partying, for me to assess the car. But when I did in the morning, it took me less than 2mins to know it had been severely accidented. The tell-tale signs were many: - bonnet/hood can't easily be opened or closed - windscreen "rubbers" were not neatly holding (glass has obviously been replaced) - rear mirror dangling on the electrical cable, as a consequence of replacement - the whole engine compartment messed up! (signs of mechanical/bodily reworks) - missing components in engine compartment (water tank for wiper; most likely burst during accident, plastic cover over space between grill and radiator, wires holding various parts, missing studs etc.) - non lapping right headlight (can even be noticed from advert pics) - obvious signs of local paint work; peels off bumper region from wind effect after first journey! So bad that where "Happy birthday" was taped on bumper, also peeled off with masking tape ![]() etc. The consequence is that other 2/3 cars we intended to single-source through you, are being sourced through others (e.g. Jenju is shipping in my Acura MDX next month). Of course I don't expect it to hurt you much as you must have made some margin off the Corolla. Godliness with contentment is great gain O! Reputation vide integrity and brand image dey better pass coins. All, I shared my experience with fotodaddy a couple of weeks back and frankly, I had planned on a sharing my experience later with all intending Nairaland buyers, on a later date (than now) when I would have been convinced I wasn't too angry to lose objectivity in my narration. And I had planned to share without copying the advert link (i.e. connecting it directly back to Inspired), as it was supposed to be less of a personal-attack, than a warning to other Nairalanders. The passion of above writing is borne out of so much disappointment in a "trusted acquaintance", loss of faith in and anxiety over purchased product, anger with self for being too trusting and stupid (one could have gotten a better 2001/2 Accord or Camry for less cost and more value!). One is not even talking about the mileage not being tampered with (got a conflicting Carfax report first, then another that could not be verified; new gist about Canadian manufacture source for a car that seller always said was US manufactured), or security issues as one could not sight the chassis#/VIN (not sure if not eliminated through panel beating ), I hope the lessons from this Thread (i.e. lessons as a result of the challenges from nkc, ziontrain and fotodaddy), those from fotodaddy's Thread " When Is "too Good To Be True", Too Good To Be True " etc., have been appropriately enlightening. Prov 28:13 has been my favorite over the years and I hope for Inspired, the "forsakes" part will be real henceforth. |
fotodaddy:@fotod No be so, na work. But since when I do my last one, I dey try peep in every other day. But as I just peep now, I get to open my eyes wide, look well, well , and reply you. Dat ya Pathfinder I miss last month for my papa birthday, still dey pain me. Maybe this deal go console me small, PS: Yo dey mind Jenju wey dey do business like oyibo? Na that ya question to de guyman make me open eye sef; you sef smart sha O, |
@Jenju, I've been mainly off Nairaland after getting my finger burnt through a transaction five weeks ago (another issue I'll find time to share with Nairalanders), but my attention has been brought to this advert. Cute ride! I love the color and features; they match my specs - but I hope say no be my car you dey advertise so. "The first buyer that pays the customary deposit of 25% gets the vehicle." No try am O!I'm not compromising on my delivery timescales and will be disappointed if you let someone tempt you with more cash than I already have on the table. Thrice through last week since our series of telecon, I've communicated with your lawyer and initial deposit is settled for disbursement (open cheque for sum for delivery to him in Abuja AM on Thursday 8/5/2008). I must confess that this is coming earlier than my expectation, and quite loaded! - DVD, Bose sound, side running boards, auto f/r air etc are difficult to get in a single 2004 model, going by my research. Please kindly send to my private account full details and pictures of this vehicle, as it may be different from mine - I can almost smell the ride Please educate me more on the "Rear Privacy Glass" feature. Between 3rd row and open boot, or what? I've to run as the job calls, |
®~^Sly^~®:Thanks Sly for the report. Hmmm! Apparently my Nairaland purchase has been compromised; let me first deal privately with my seller, |
Sly, Please assist to check out this VIN with special emphasis on mileage at shipping - thanks. 2T1BR38E14C240282 |
®~^Sly^~®:Thanks for your prompt response. Yes the VIN was incorrect (wrong from source). I'm not pursuing the option of purchasing vehicle in question - thanks once again, |
Inspired_m, Lets discuss details |
Jenju, Inspired etc, Please kindly oblige with this VIN JHLRD788820005448. Thanks as usual, |
You really got those guys scampering - even dealers themselves! Bid closed last Friday, but has the SUV been paid for? Someone I know is interested with some cash dropping off his briefcase, ![]() |
Emma, 1) What is the mileage? 2) Side view pics (both sides)? 3) Steering buttons; what features? 4) More about the funny stuff sticking out in the engine area (heat resistant packing foam); was the A/C or something fixed here in Nigeria? |
Hi Brauneyes, Please assist wrt this VIN - 4t1BE32K42U114570. Once again, thanks for the wonderful free service, |
Why not respond to Manuel's comment/question? Not much information to deal from your single picture, |
100% interested if the offer is still on - my call was not answered, |
Brauneyes, This is great community service you are giving out - well done! I hope you continue to assist and as promptly as you have been. Stay blessed. |
